841  Economy / Economics / Re: Sanctions at work:Russia posts its second highest deficit in the post-Soviet era on: June 15, 2023, 11:05:39 PM
......
This are really funny and the news about the study of African languages from 2023 in several schools in Moscow seems to be quite true. Another thing is interesting - under what sauce it is served and There is a possibility of deepening internal confrontations and the desire of the regions to secede from the center as independent republics and we are a global economy world, most nations (outside of few like maybe cuba) survives due to global markets, we all trade with each other, even Russia with "sanctions" still trade and sell their products, maybe not to same people but they do.

There's a pretty simple explanation.
Russia is well aware that it is excluded from the global economy, and we should not expect the situation to improve. China, India - these are the countries that just took advantage of russia's problems, and on this wave, for pennies they buy out everything they can and are interested. Other countries have turned their backs on russia. The only ones left are the "brothers in terrorism" and "fighters against the world" - Iran, North Korea, and a couple of other contries on which nothing depends.
The problem is that the population in this situation must be given at least some "positive information". And there you have it - "Strong friendship between Russia and African countries"! Well at least some kind of pleasant tale. It is true that recently russia simply wrote off tens of billions of dollars to these "friends", but it is not interesting to talk about it Smiley I.e. the goal is simply to create another information bubble about "new, strong, friends". But everyone is well aware that this will not solve the problem of an economy going into the abyss...

Russia is excluded from the global economy:

it seems that the new girlfriend didn't bring luck to Tsitsipas Roll Eyes that has lost today in 3 sets against Gasquet.
He gave to me the impression of being tired like at the end of a tournament Roll Eyes , in short, not the Greek we know, but "green" probably isn't his favorite surface....

What a bad match by Tsitsipas today,he had everything in his hands against Gasquet but just couldnt beat him. He was up a break in the first set and lost it due to some stupid double faults and some bad decisions. Also Gasquet just hit his 600th career win

Yeah, Tsitsipas was disappointing today. Quarterfinal time in Stuttgart:

Lorenzo Musetti
VS
Frances Tiafoe

Marton Fucsovics
VS
Taylor Fritz

Hubert Hurkacz
VS
Christopher O'Connell

Richard Gasquet
VS
Jan-Lennard Struff

I marked the potential winners in bold. Both American guys should be pretty decent on grass because they prefer hard surface which is quite similar to grass.
843  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin - how low will we go in 2023? on: June 15, 2023, 02:45:57 PM
I bought the other day and we have seen yet another crash since then it feels like there is so much bad news and FUD at the moment.

I feel like having a break as I am starting to feel we could go close to the lows of last year, not sure if we will go that low but could go close so thinking of waiting until we see at least another 10% drop to buy more.

How is everyone else feeling?

I guess we are at the yearly low already or pretty close to it. I don't think we will fall any lower. In fact, I'm surprised we are here, I was hoping for some $30-35k arena at this point. Last cycle, 2019 was sideways with very few fluctuations and in 2020 the growth resumed. I guess it should be similar this time too.

844  Economy / Economics / Re: Binance crisis - how will it affect the crypto market? on: June 15, 2023, 01:32:45 PM
If we draw some parallels with SEC and Binance situation, the US is clearly attacking Binance (and Bitcoin in general), because they dared to refuse to ban Russian customers. I guess you can call the US a terrorist state then? Which can try to close any exchange to reach their goals? Pretty much any economy in the World can suffer from the economic terror of the US. If you can't see these similarities here, that's hypocrisy.  Grin

Great answer, thank you ! I'll explain why Smiley

Breaking laws, violating CONTRACTS, financing terrorism, or helping rogue countries/regimes to circumvent sanctions, are ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES !

And here again, it's perfectly obvious that you're trying to wishful thinking - that it's "the US fighting Binance and BITCOIN".

Would you care to prove your statement, and show where else the U.S. is fighting BITCOIN, accusing the structures of financing terrorism and violating their commitments, and demanding a ban on BITCOIN transactions ? Smiley

By the way. question, part two - in which part of the SEC claim does the demand to Binance prohibit or limit the Bitcoin transactions sound? I'm waiting very carefully for the reasoned advice, with links to the original documents corresponding to your "morass" Smiley

At this point, I have to ask: where have you spent last 10-13 years?  Grin

It's common knowledge that all countries are generally against Bitcoin, because Bitcoin is a threat to banks and their existence.

And note it's merely my opinion, not a fact so I'm not obliged to provide any sources (unlike you posting your fake news without sources and pretending they're real facts haha). But nevertheless I will:

"Now, the Biden administration has been accused of trying to "quietly" ban bitcoin, ethereum and other cryptocurrencies in a move that's been described as "Operation Choke Point 2.0"—referring to a 2013 government initiative that sought to cut off undesirable industries from banking services."

"The U.S. government is using the banking sector to organize a sophisticated, widespread crackdown against the crypto industry,"

"And the administration’s efforts are no secret: they’re expressed plainly in memos, regulatory guidance, and blog posts. However, the breadth of this plan—spanning virtually every financial regulator—as well as its highly coordinated nature, has even the most steely-eyed crypto veterans nervous that crypto businesses might end up completely unbanked, stablecoins may be stranded and unable to manage flows in and out of crypto, and exchanges might be shut off from the banking system entirely."

https://www.forbes.com/sites/billybambrough/2023/02/09/us-accused-of-trying-to-quietly-ban-bitcoin-ethereum-and-crypto/?sh=6b7762e86403

The lack of regulatory clarity is a common complaint among crypto firms, which argue that the United States is pushing the industry overseas, and ultimately ceding authority to foreign regulators that have established clearer guidelines.

And that may be true, but Gary Gensler, the outspoken crypto-skeptic and top cop at the SEC, doesn’t seem to care.

“Look, we don’t need more digital currency,” Gensler told CNBC on Tuesday. “We already have digital currency: It’s called the US dollar. It’s called the euro or it’s called the yen; they’re all digital right now. We already have digital investments.”

https://edition.cnn.com/2023/06/06/business/nightcap-crypto-sec-binance-coinbase/index.html

And I could go on and on and on...

Breaking laws, violating CONTRACTS, financing terrorism, or helping rogue countries/regimes to circumvent sanctions, are ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES !

Oh, come on, grow up. These are the formal reasons presented to the public. But everybody knows what the REAL reasons are...  Grin
845  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Kids and Bitcoin on: June 15, 2023, 06:12:42 AM
My next Bitcoin awareness approach now are the children, there are many kids in my family and very soon our get-together tradition is approaching, I need your help in this forum if this is possible.

I remember when I was little, I love reading books that have good pictures on them, like comics and novels painted with amazing pictures, from Peter Pan to DareDevil and Supergirl, while growing up as an adult I ended giving out these comics to my cousins.

My question is where can I buy Bitcoin comic books that can catch the attention of children between the age of 7 to 11? I want something in comic or story book style and with full story about Bitcoin or related... I want to buy and wrap them up for the surprises.

You definitely shouldn't force children to study Bitcoin but in this case the OPs idea about the comic books is very appropriate. It's a great way to explain Bitcoin to them without shoving it down their throats. Actually, it's a great business idea too, perhaps you should start selling Bitcoin-themed children's books on Amazon?   Cool
846  Economy / Economics / Re: Will chatgpt really destroy the job market? on: June 14, 2023, 09:58:01 PM
Since ChatGPT was launched in November last year, this AI technology has created a huge response across the globe.  This technology has gained so much popularity that people are using this technology in almost every field. Any math can be easily solved through this technology, any unknown matter can be easily known through this technology, so there is a lot of doubt in everyone's mind about this technology that this technology will destroy the job market or not?

When asked about this, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said the technology will never destroy the job market. Rather, this technology will solve things that people never know about.  Since all tasks can be solved easily through this technology, this bot system may be used instead of humans in various work fields.
If this technology is used in the workplace, many people will lose their jobs.

Yes, perhaps chatgpt can eventually lead to some people losing their jobs, but it can also create new jobs in many different areas. Every new invention somewhat changes the job market: cars, TV, internet etc created a myriad of new jobs for example.

Grass season is revving up: Stuttgart ATP

-snip-

Kyrgios v Wu

Every match with Nick Kyrgios is a great tennis show. He doesn't play very regularly so it's a nice possibility to watch him play, getting ready for the grass season and Wimbledon. It looks like an easy match for the Aussie though.

Yes Kyrgios is a great tennis player, massive talent but I feel his best years are over at this
stage and the fact that he doesnt play a full season and is really only playing grass courts
means he isnt match fit by the time the season starts, he lost today to Wu 5-7, 3-6.

Kyrgios is unfortunately struggling with his mental problems. If he had fought his demons earlier, he would certainly be at a higher level. But we also have to consider that he had not played a match yet this year. The last time was at the end of 2022 and he also missed the French Open because he injured his foot.

He just dosent care. He isnt even fit for playing tennis at the moment. I watched the match he mostly just served good on it and hot tired from just that. You need to train and gain some strength to play tennis . He just plays like he is an amature and once he losses the first set he dosent even care for the match anymore.

Yes Nick has some psychological issues, namely he can't play a lot of tournaments and train regularly. In "Break Point" documentary series by Netflix this fact was mentioned. Nick himself mentioned he can play 7-8 tournaments a year, not more.

Meanwhile in Stuttgart, some really interesting matches are planned for tomorrow:

Karatsev v Fritz
Struff v Paul
Tsitsipas v Gasquet
848  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: June 14, 2023, 06:06:30 AM
Venus Williams had a good comeback set in the Rosmalen Grass Court Championships, but she wasn't able to win the match. Since January it is the first match played by Venus Williams. Started good with a winning set 6-3 against the young Swiss player Naef. Later in the second set she had a tough fight and the tie breaker ended in favour of Naef 77-63. The third set was easily won by Naef 6-2. Venus Williams expected to reach atleast to the quarter finals have ended so early.

I'm really surprised she is still able to compete at the highest level at her age (42). Here love and dedication to tennis is unbelievable. I remember a long time both Williams sisters promised they will continue playing singles tennis while they physically can, then move on to the doubles. But I guess Serena is not quite back into tennis with her pregnancy and photo shoots and all that, so Venus has nothing left to do but try her luck in singles.

Today the news came out one by one:

- U.S. District Court summonses the CEO of Binance CZ. The United States District Court in Washington, D.C., issued a subpoena to Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao.

This came just two days after the SEC sued the exchange for violating securities laws. The subpoena stated that criminal proceedings were pending against the CEO.

- Binance.US will delist about 100 trading pairs and suspend over-the-counter (OTC) trading on June 8
Binance.US will remove selected pairs for extended trading on June 8, 2023 at 9:00 a.m. Pacific Time / 12:00 p.m. EST. Earlier, the SEC demanded that the U.S. branch of the Binance exchange return fiat funds to customers.
Thus, regulators and the courts decided to make sure that Binance exchange will be held accountable for violating the law from their perspective. The court proceedings may last for a long time and it is unknown how the litigation between the largest cryptocurrency exchange and U.S. regulators will end.

https://cryptonews.net/ru/news/legal/21113589/

- Will Binance face secondary sanctions for serving Russian citizens? In early May, Bloomberg reported on an investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice's National Security Division into Binance Holdings Ltd. The parent company of the largest cryptocurrency exchange by trading volume, Binance, is suspected of violating sanctions against Russia.

The agency intends to find out whether Binance officials or companies allowed Russians to circumvent US sanctions and transfer money through its trading platform. At the time of writing, neither the exchange nor its executives were reportedly accused of wrongdoing.

At the same time, the U.S. Internal Revenue Service, together with analytical firm Chainalysis and Ukrainian law enforcers have been monitoring cryptocurrency transactions of Russian citizens.

I'd like to mention and draw some parallels with some other post of yours (regarding Russia gas ban):

Quote
The point of the article:
- Russia is a terrorist state, and in order to achieve its idiotic goals it can cut off the supply through the Ukrainian GTS. There have been examples, terrorist attacks are normal for Russia - from its citizens being blown up, to blowing up its own gas pipeline, Nord Stream.
- Such a scenario has to be considered because Germany, which has replaced 95+% of Russian gas supplies, will help other countries with OWN gas under current EU law.
- Therefore, those countries that are still dependent on Russian gas should worry in advance about solving the potential problem

By the way, such countries include "the Kremlin's lapdog" Hungary, which is led into the abyss of cooperation with a terrorist country, Orban. It is the Hungarian economy that will be the first to suffer from the economic terror of russia Smiley Orban - keep licking the boots of the Kremlin's neo-Furrer.

Bitcoin if free, every one have rights to do what they think important, or doubt it.

I thought it has been proved that the Western "three letter agencies" blew up the pipes. There were no Russian vessels and/or submarines around. Even without knowing this fact, why would Russia destroy it's own property worth billions of $$$ and preventing it from earning billions more in gas exports.

PS. By the way a great piece of news came out the other day: Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the 7 countries of the European Union called for a shift away from the principle of unilateralism in decision-making in the European Union's joint foreign and security policy and for a wider use of voting by a qualified majority. And this means that Hungarian sabotage will now do nothing Smiley I hope that Hungary will be kicked out of the EU as well!

Grass season is revving up: Stuttgart ATP

Some interesting matches to watch out for today:

Zhang v Struff

Both players have been performing very well lately: Struff reached the Madrid final which he lost to Alcaraz and Zhang managed to reach the 3rd round of Roland Garros. Earlier he also got into the Madrid quarterfinal. With both players on fire, this is going to be a spectacular match.

Shapovalov v Fucsovics

Here is the other way round - both guys have been under-performing in latest matches. This, however, means that both players will try their best to show some decent results in Stuttgart and the match will be intense.

Kyrgios v Wu

Every match with Nick Kyrgios is a great tennis show. He doesn't play very regularly so it's a nice possibility to watch him play, getting ready for the grass season and Wimbledon. It looks like an easy match for the Aussie though.

A bit disappointing final to be frank. An easy win for Djokovic in 3 sets. Ruud stood no chance against the Serb today. Nole's chances of winning all four Grand Slams in a year have increased significantly. Wimbledon and US Open suit his playing style much better than RG so he will be even harder to stop. Let's wait and see this is going to be interesting.  Cool

https://www.reuters.com/markets/europe/russian-economy-ministry-improves-2023-gdp-growth-forecast-2023-04-14/

Russian ministry of economy revised the estimate for 2023 GDP growth. Now they claim that GDP will grow by +1.2%, compared to an earlier prediction of -0.8%. There is an announcement from the International Monetary Fund as well. They raised their estimate for Russian GDP growth to +0.7% from a previous estimate of +0.3%. The estimate for 2024 is +1.3%. However as per the IMF, labour shortages and exit of western companies will harm the Russian economy in the long term. World Bank meanwhile has stated that Russian GDP will contract by 0.2% in 2023.

https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/russia-may-see-wider-2023-budget-deficit-lower-growth-years-come-imf-2023-04-11/
The Russian economy in the current and subsequent years will directly depend on the situation at the front in Ukraine. And just here, it seems, Russia is in for big problems. The IMF cannot know how further events in this war will develop, and therefore the forecasts for the Russian economy will change more than once even for this year. There is a possibility of deepening internal confrontations and the desire of the regions to secede from the center as independent republics. And in this case, Russia may not even have its own sources of oil and gas. After all, they are given to the center just by distant regions. And without oil and gas, Russia will be a poor and backward country.

Well, I've heard that "Russia splits into several countries" BS many times lately. One of the favourite propaganda topics, along with "Putin is dying of cancer", "Russia is running out of rockets" etc etc

There are absolutely no signs of any decentralization and separatism in Russia. Can you provide any credible source for this information?

The project name is: qrpaper
The github link is: https://qrpaper.github.io
The twitter link is: https://twitter.com/qrpaper_sats
The discord link is: https://discord.gg/3MjNRBhuRv

## Slogan
Salute to Satoshi, every blockchain project should mint their white paper on Bitcoin.

## Foreword
There is only 600 segment NFT, I want it can be hold by the most core Bitcoin users to enhance the consensus of Bitcoin, it's all free for mint. Follow the twitter and join our discord to get White List. Bitcointalk users is priority to get.

## Significance
As the earliest blockchain, Bitcoin's value mainly comes from consensus, but it is also constantly facing challenges from other public chains. In order to consolidate the value of Bitcoin, we put forward the slogan "Salute to Satoshi, every blockchain project should mint their white paper on Bitcoin", which is not only conducive to continuously strengthening the consensus of Bitcoin, but also It is beneficial for new projects to be understood and accepted by Bitcoin users.

## Introduction
qrpaper converts the white paper into a plain text markdown format,
and after splitting it into sentences, encodes each sentence into a QR code,
signs it and mints it on Bitcoin with Ordinals Protocol for permanent storage.

the theory image is here:

the example image is here:

## Why bitcoin
1. Bitcoin is the first blockchain, it is the chain with the highest degree of consensus and the highest security
2. Bitcoin ordinals protocol, storing all of the NFT data on the blockchain, it would not be lost forever
3. Bitcoin has the largest TVL, minting your project white paper on Bitcoin is very memorable and advantageous

## Why qrpaper
1. qrpaper is the first project who helps users mint their white paper on Bitcoin use ordinals protocol
2. qrpaper optimized the NFT image generation technology, compressed the data size to the limit, it greatly reduced the mint gas
3. qrpaper use qrpaper.sats domain to sign every NFT to ensure no one can fake it
4. qrpaper split and visualized the white paper to qrcode, which has a beautiful style, it is easy to spread
5. qrpaper is governed by community through qp-dao, it's a decentralized project

## qp-dao
next, we will start the qp-dao, everyone who holds the NFT of the three core qrpaper(bitcoin, ethereum and qrpaper) will have the right to join. And you will have the benifits like airdrop, whitelist, vote and so on.

Ok, so you're one of those spammers paralyzing the network with your stupid "whitepaper minting" crap?

Have you thought about people not being able to send and receive payments because of your irresponsible actions? Mint my ass.   Angry

I agree with both of you that Swiatek will be the champion today, just hope Muchova doesn't let that happen easily, the final match should provide an interesting spectacle for tennis lovers. Muchova is not one of the players who is calculated to be able to perform optimally to finally reach the final and before defeating other favorites who were previously even predicted to be Swiatek's only strong challenger, so what she has achieved should not be let go so easily because Swiatek had faced difficulties when she faced Haddad Maia, so everyplayers have a chance to give a tight game today.
Bet on over 18.5 and hope Muchova is solid in her service game even though it doesn't have to go to 3 sets but at least there isn't a 6-0 score which is very unpleasant to watch in the final match.

Well currently its just one sided and Swiatek leads 5-2 in the first set and looks like she will take the set and the title pretty much without any hard work. For over 18.5 Muchova will need to work more and get some games but still its realistic that over comes in the second set.
Swiatek won the first set 6-2. In the second set Muchova had an opportunity to win, she missed it and then made a comeback and won the set 7-5. Now the match have moved to the third set, this is interesting. After Stuttgart Open title win Swiatek lost Madrid Open final and lost Italian Open quarter finals match. Once again she had reached the finals and it favours her amidst the hard competence from Muchova.

Watched the entire match and it was just amazing. The first set Swiatek dominated as usual but Muchova woke up and won the second set and was playing really good in third set,but the quality of Swiatek is just high and she won yet another French Open and continues to hold the no1 position.

Also watched it and I must admit it was one of the best WTA finals this year (if not the best). Muchova resisted surprisingly well and there even was a chance for her to win the title. Swiatek lost focus completely in 2nd and 3rd sets and was broken several times. Unfortunately for Muchova, she started losing her serve games too. It was very similar to the semifinal vs Sabalenka but Muchova was in Sabalenka's shoes now. She couldn't keep several surely winning shots in and ended the match with a double fault.

P.S. Ruud vs Djokovic tomorrow guys! I will be betting on Djoko.
858  Economy / Economics / Re: To Hodl or Lend: What is your take? on: June 10, 2023, 04:18:36 PM
One of the major reasons why bitcoin Enthusiasts hold bitcoin is in anticipation of a price increase that would increase the value of their asset. However, holding your bitcoin requires a patience mixed with strong will. It is the patience to be patient for a long period of time until the price makes a 10%, 20% and so on increase. Strong will not to use it to solve some immediate problem and risk a reduction in your asset. Consequently, not everyone one can wait that is why some decide to learn bitcoin trading so that they can make some quick profit that would also increase their asset holding. Some other become bitcoin lenders. Yes, they use either a centralized or decentralized platform to lend their bitcoin which would be repaid with interest. What is your honest take on bitcoin lending? Too risky, won't try it? Too risky, will give it a try?

I'd definitely HODL. Safer and more profitable in the long run. But please note that I'd change my mind if there would be a new safe way to lend your coins. Unfortunately (or luckily?) Bitcoin transactions can't be reversed and sending them to any custodial wallet/service means you're losing control over your coins and fully depend on the person/entity borrowing from you.

Swiatek v Muchova WTA final today. Swiatek has been confident and determined so far and I'm pretty sure it's going to be a one way traffic in this one. She had given her opponents a considerable number of bagels and yet to lose a set at this RG . Moreover, I'm pretty sure Muchova hasn't recovered after an exhausting semifinal against Sabalenka. The Czech has spent 5 more hours on court than Iga did (12 vs 7). Although, H2H is 1:0 in favor of Muchova, she managed to win in three sets back in 2019 in Prague. But all in all the outcome of this final looks quite clear to me - Swiatek to win the title.

Probably an early miner, we’ll never know if Satoshi is moving coins unless they’re from his well publicised address(es). I’m inclined to believe it is an early miner. I mean there are active users on here who registered in 2010 so it’s not that crazy that there are really early adopters amongst us.

Sometimes early coins moving could just be early adopters moving coins to another type of wallet or device due to paranoia over a breach of their OPSEC or security etc.

I second that. I don't think these coins will be for sale anytime soon. Most probably just wallet-to-wallet transaction, wallet upgrade or something similar. Perhaps some Bitcoin forensics experts here can verify the destination address is not a custodial exchange wallet or something...
