But what bothers me is they have registered UK business (one owner Eric Rosby), so if it started with intention of creating a ponzi, that would probably mean they either 'hijacked' some unrelated company's details (not very likely), or just provided fake personal details of owner/director (more likely, as I don't think Companies House has strong verification process).

Its the latter. Apparently it costs  £15 to register a company in the UK, and doesnt require any sort of ID. All you need is an address, and all these scams use mail forwarding companies for that. In the case of cryptomine, the address they post belongs to http://www.londonpresence.com/
842  Economy / Services / Re: Cryptomine.io - Signature Campaign with a twist - Well worth your time on: December 06, 2014, 11:06:26 AM
I'm actually fine giving you the benefit of the doubt.

Giving anyone the benefit of the doubt on this forum is a surefire way to get scammed.
Not that there is much doubt about this being a scam. I am curious though, do you give nigerian princesses that claim to have inherited oil concessions and email you out of the blue with a promise of $5M  the benefit of the doubt too?
843  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: December 06, 2014, 11:00:00 AM
Daily payments are meaningless. To estimate ROI, you have to take daily payments and multiply it by the number of remaining days it will take for the ponzi operator to run off. Bitcoincloudservice is run by the same dude who ran bitcoincloudhashing.com, and that didnt last two weeks.
844  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptomine.io - SHA-256 & Scrypt Unlimited Mining Contracts on: December 06, 2014, 09:16:21 AM
So you want us to believe that from a management team of 5, that managed to raise millions of dollars, no one has any online presence whatsoever?
None of those names match with any linkedin profiles.  Are you telling me none of you are on linkedin ?
845  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Cryptomine.io - SHA-256 & Scrypt Unlimited Mining Contracts on: December 06, 2014, 08:34:29 AM
So the pictures where fake. Big shocker! How about the names, want to admit "your web designer" made those up as well?

I don't know if this helps but here is a PM from pbmining from the quite begining

I notice that you are bringing in a massive amount of traffic.  This is great, and it looks like it is working out good for you.  However, we are currently experiencing issues with our server not being able to keep up.  My web developer is currently in the process of "splitting" my web site onto different hosts.  I kindly ask you, if it is possible, to pull most of your ads off for at least a week to allow the dust to settle so that we can have a chance to expand our resources.  I never thought i would have to ask someone this, but I hope you understand.
Report To Admin

This was when pbmining was new to me (customer #97) and I started to advertise pbmining,
I would say that if this was a real ponzi they would not have asked me to stop bringing in money.
They would just been happy when someone brings in new customers and more BTC.

Read what he wrote. Did he say 'we cant provide or accommodate the hashrate' ?  No, he had a problem with his crappy website stats and/or payout system. That just shows the level of incompetence you are dealing with here, nothing else. Oh and that he didnt expect that number of sales, which in a real cloud mining company would cause capacity problems elsewhere than on the stats page.
848  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: December 05, 2014, 05:50:55 PM
I was surprised to see the price had gone up, but if you try to buy a new contract, you now get greeted by "Our hash power is currently sold out."

Sunday might be interesting...

No reason for it to fail, stopping sales is the sign it's not a ponzi, just like adding management fees.
Besides, in addition to their BTC1300 in liquid assets they surely have a couple million dollars in equipment and infrastructure.

Oh, Im not saying he cant afford to keep paying for quite some time, certainly if you take in to account an arbitrary fee. Question is: how long will he want to keep paying (anything more than a token div) if he is no longer collecting any sales? My guess is,  that he is panicking now that you called him out and probably weighing his options.  He'd be unwise to rush a decision, so Id expect him to pay on sunday, pending legal advice.  That will probably consist of pack your bags and run to Costa Rica.

I think it was this one:

It was gigantic and couldnt even do SMS.  But it was a great improvement over what my colleagues had back then:

851  Economy / Speculation / Re: Difficulty increase projection : 0.00% on: December 05, 2014, 04:46:53 PM
Wouldn't that pump UP the difficulty as more miners are being used?

Of course it would.

ONe thing that is having an effect IMO, its all these non-mining mining ponzi's. If only a small fraction of the coins thrown to them went to actual mining hardware or legit cloudmining, we wouldnt be seeing quite this stagnation. And of course, it wont last either way, at the latest its a matter of when the next gen bitfury, KnC, AM, CT, bitmain and spondoolies rigs hit with a power efficiency thats several times better than current hardware. Bitfury 0.2J/GH was supposed to happen this year.
852  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: December 05, 2014, 04:38:44 PM
the OP is online, and this time the facebook page is taken offline.
Looks like a "hit". Nice job MrTeal.

the time to get rich with bitcoin is over.

Jason Boyko disagrees with you

that facebook page seems to have been taken down. Where did you find it or was it not down when you posted it?
edit: had to be logged in.

Great job btw, you found the first picture of PBmining's ~5PH hardware:

I think u failed to understand the meaning of ad hominem in the context of current discussion.

I know perfectly well what it means; an attack on the person instead of the arguments. Questioning my motives is an attack on me, not my arguments, and its quite laughable coming from you and to anyone paying attention, which you clearly are not. Again I ask you, out of my 3000+ posts, can you find ONE SINGLE POST that could be interpreted as an advertisement for any of the companies you claim Im in bed with?  For any post you could possibly find that could be misconstrued as being an edorsement, I will post 10 posts that show the exact opposite. Put up or shut up.

^^^ and this is from horse's mouth. He is holding your beloved AM hash sig !!! Roll Eyes

My "love" for rockminer is as deep as my love for you. Why do I care if the company goes tits up? Doesnt change the fact that AMhash is extremely unlikely to be a ponzi and this scam here is pretty much certain to be one. If you (claim to) think otherwise, shall we make an escrowed bet about how and when either is going to end?
856  Economy / Services / Re: PB Mining -- 5 year mining contracts! on: December 05, 2014, 11:12:45 AM
Im pretty sure theyve already passed the most profitable moment to run away with the money, so who knows, maybe is legit  Grin

Im pretty sure you havent done the math, or you cant do math.
Any week they sell more than they pay out, they increase their profits. Its slower than in the past and its requiring a reduction in payouts. But he is still increasing his loot, which is the only reason he is still around. dont expect it to last very long though
857  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CloudMining.website is offering 1 GHs @ 0.001 BTC | 5% affiliate commission on: December 05, 2014, 11:08:18 AM
BTW, concerning the ad hominem trying to somehow paint me as a havelock shill;
first of all notice my signature. There is no paid ad in there.  I dont have a financial incentive to lie, unlike the vast majority of posters here.
Secondly, show me ONE single post where I recommend people use havelock.  Or  where I say I think amhash is a good investment. Or where I recommend cryptx.
Or for that matter, ANY cloudminng.

You cant. Because unlike you, I dont have a financial incentive to deceive others and my integrity cant be bought for a few satoshi.
858  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CloudMining.website is offering 1 GHs @ 0.001 BTC | 5% affiliate commission on: December 05, 2014, 10:53:08 AM
newIndia has made a mistake by pointing finger at the companies u tried to showcase as legitimate in your 101 thread. By the way, what are the legitimacy proofs of HaveLock and AM hash ? Or the registration of Cryptx PetaMine is enough for all these entities ?

The operators of AMhash are quite well known too. And with an actual address
http://www.rockminer.com/contact.php

Not too mention, asicminer endorsement, quite convincing pictures and most important of all: a public mining address

When u loose on logic, u pick up spelling mistakes.

I pick up on accidental truths.

When an ASIC vendor is giving equipments at low rate, or probably not showing that sales in book, they might ask for NDA.

No one is asking them to disclose the price, not being allowed to disclose a purchase is the most ridiculous thing I ever heard of. Not that an endorsement is even the most crucial thing, what kind of NDA would prohibit them from disclosing mining or pool address on a public blockchain?  If you believe that, you will believe anything. Curious how much  you lost on "arbitrage" scams recently..

So AM hash is offering calculation and hence a Ponzi. On the contrary, cloudmining.website is not offering any pre-determined calculation. Hence they are mining for real. Is that what u wanna say ? Roll Eyes

Amhash is offering clear terms. You cant calculate ROI without assuming difficulty, AMhash isnt doing that. You can however predict and publish hosting costs quite easily. If you have any, that is.
859  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: CloudMining.website is offering 1 GHs @ 0.001 BTC | 5% affiliate commission on: December 05, 2014, 10:21:23 AM
I do understand very well how HaveLock operates. Being based out of US/EU jurisdiction, it tries to give credibility to non-standard companies. If AM Hash, Cryptx Petamine etc those are listed under HaveLock were fully legit, then they would have attend conferences, their founders were clean & clear about identity, which they are NOT. They are simply taking advantage of their location to deceive people and HaveLock is trying to become the bank in this case, skimming off investor's money, which is one of the thing bitcoin fought for.

You realize that for instance cryptx is a legally registered company in the EU with well known founders and an actual address thats not just a mail forwarding company, right?

Quote
On the contrary, cloud mining websites are quiet clear about the reason of their anonymity.

You actually misspelled "quiet" correctly. They are not quite clear, they are completely quiet about their identity.

Quote
PB mining has talked about NDA and cloudmining.website has mentioned the reason in Our Story & FAQ.

You mean they bullshit about an NDA as laughable pretext.  Tell me which asic vendor would issue an NDA that doesnt even let their customers say they bought hardware as condition to sell them hardware, and why on earth would they do it? And how would it preclude these scammers from giving us their identity? You cant be that stupid.

Quote
Those, who are offering a payout calculation are actually lying, because mining is partially about luck.

Only if you are mining. Not if you run a mining ponzi.
