- De Beek is better choice than Pogba on any day. He is one of the Ajax's golden generation players. He is a perfect fit in Juventus which is currently having lots of problem in the middle of park due lack of innovative play from current midfielders.

Assuming 75 milion for De Beek and 75 for Paul Pogba, who do you want the most? and why?

I won't pay 75 million for De Beek, at max I will pay 50M for him. But spending 50M on De Beek is much better than spending 75 on Pogba. No doubt, Pogba is outstanding player and had wonderful World Cup. But some of the French player got injured after WC such as Kante, Umtiti and Pogba. Since then they are off-beat and ain't playing their best game. We can clearly see that the Umtiti is playing sub-par since he recovered from injury, he's now third choice CB in Barcelona. I fear that the quality of Pogba will drop too once he is fully recovered.

843  Economy / Economics / Re: Will the government understand? on: March 29, 2020, 03:28:59 PM
I do know that people engaged in cryptocurrencies are way ahead of the time, so do you guys think there is a way by which jobs can be provided to the needy because we all know that a vaccine is 12-18 months away .

It isn't possible to create jobs for everyone during the times of economic recession, no matter how technical advanced we are. Recession slows down the economy and not everyone is skilled enough to adapt to new changes. For example, most of the desk jobs are now shifted to Work from Home basis. But what about daily wage workers and manual laborers? We can't shift their work to computers. We have to wait for economic reconstruction to employ them once again.

Things will take a lot of time to be normal , till then how will the economy survive?

During tough times it's the job of government to bring parity across country. This could be done by distributing free foods, giving financial aid to poor. In such conditions, we have to give away the idea of economic development and focus more on economic well-being. Once tragedy is over, government once again have to take pro-active steps to provide jobs to all those who were retrenched during recession. That will be the time when your question will become relevant again.

Van The Beek if they can't have Pogba they will try to get him.
Donnaruma next year, only 12 months left on his contract.
Marcelo.
Icardi paid from PSG 75m€ (clause to Inter) exchanged with Pjanic + money.
Higuain to Bilbao.

- De Beek is better choice than Pogba on any day. He is one of the Ajax's golden generation players. He is a perfect fit in Juventus which is currently having lots of problem in the middle of park due lack of innovative play from current midfielders.

- Signing Donnaruma will be a great deal. He is only 21 and already playing to his full caliber. He would easily end Juventus's goalkeeper problem for next 15 years and can become second Buffon for Juventus and Italy.

- Marcelo? Why? Marcelo is now second choice LB in Brazilian lineup and Juventus already have Alex Sandro who is first choice in Brazilian lineup.

- Well for me, Pjanic === Icardi. I won't pay any additional buck if I am exchanging my pivotal midfielder for 3rd choice striker.

- Higuain is done! It would be better for Juventus if he's shipped as soon as possible.

btw. How is real speculation about Ronaldo's moving to PSG?

Zero!

Expect a price jump when stimulus checks start rolling in. I know I'm personally buying some crypto anyone else feel the same way?

So we all have to rely on the mercy of the Federal reserve to print some money and  pump the price of Bitcoin? Grin
I thought that Bitcoin is supposed to be independent from any central bank in the world. This is what Satoshi Nakamoto told us,but now 90% of all Bitcoin users only care about the BTC price(which is normal, but sometimes it looks absurd to me).
The stimulus package might pump the BTC price, but probably after a year or two.The global economy has to recover from the lockdowns first.

You are right. Let me add another dimension to your answer:

There is a difference between price and value.

Price of Bitcoin depends upon the currency in which we are determining the price of Bitcoin. Most popular determinant of Bitcoin's price is US Dollar. It is a simple economic concept that if the quantity of base determinant (USD) increases, the price of provided commodity (Bitcoin) will increase. [1]

Even if price of Bitcoin increases, it doesn't mean its value is increasing too. It may rise because of the fall in the value counter determinant (USD) ( as discussed in [1]). Hence we all should focus more on increasing the value of Bitcoin, price will rise automatically.
846  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] GOLD - First 100% Liquid Stablecoin Backed by Gold on: March 28, 2020, 02:24:04 PM
I think next year will be great for the GOLD token because there is a big need for real gold and I am sure that the price will continue to rise.

Undoubtedly. Gold prices are on upward trend and several investors I know are eager to add gold in their portfolios. However, other means of gold investment such as bonds or gold ETF are very stringent from KYC point of view and time-consuming. But Digital Gold have solved this problem and provide the gold ownership in most secure as well as private way. No doubt, Digital Gold buying volume will rise many folds this year.
847  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Which type of address is better and why? on: March 28, 2020, 07:59:07 AM
Like Electrum doesn't support nested Segwit starting with '3' on the other hand Ledger doesn't support native SegWit.

Electrum doesn't support the creation of P2SH addresses but you can import the seed in Electrum wallet and use the Segwit addresses starting with '3'. All you have to do is to tick the 'BIP 39' checkbox from menu while importing the seed and it will work.

848  Economy / Economics / Re: Can cryptocurrencies play the role of real money as medium of exchange? on: March 27, 2020, 02:19:08 PM
What do you think are the main problems of cryptocurrencies that stop them from becoming real money and real medium of exchange (volatility, etc.)?

It really depends upon what is your definition of real money. Bitcoin can surely be used as a medium of exchange. I tried an experiment last year. I bought commodity from one of my client who is good friend of mine and owner of e-commerce business. Then I reported this transaction as per Indian Accounting Standard 21 (Ind AS-21) which deals with 'The Effects of changes in Foreign Exchange Rates' and treated Bitcoin as foreign currency.

While filing his income tax return, I reported transaction as foreign exchange transaction and it was cleared by Income Tax Authority. Then we tried availing one of the government subsidy and submitted same Balance Sheet. To my surprise, even Central Government didn't object the presence of 'Exchange Loss' account in the financial statement and approved our subsidy application.

It is possible to do so. Go to your profile.

Then from side menu:

Go to 'Look and Layout Preference'.
Then you will see this option: 'Show most recent posts at the top'
Check the box and click 'Change Profile'.

But I really hate the above option. After using forum in this way for almost 3+ years, the above change was like turning the world upside down. Alternatively, this might be better solution for what you are asking:

This button will take you to the last post of the thread.

Simply click my profile and then merits.

852  Other / Meta / My Newbie Expedition on: March 25, 2020, 04:47:33 PM
Finally after 4 days of work from home, my company halted operations for 3 days due to recent lock down announcement which means I had 4 additional hours at my disposal today. So I decided to go on expedition and during last 3 hours, I traveled around 150 threads, reading over 1000 posts. The purpose of this expedition was to find quality newbie accounts having zero merits and give them their first merit.

The basic factor for giving merit was that either account has written a good post or has overall adequate quality. During this expedition, I checked more than 80 newbie accounts but most of them were awful, clearly spamming or clear case of account farming. Prior to starting, I had 34 sMerits at my disposal which I thought I would easily send to 34 deserving newbies in less than an hour but to my surprise, forum is seriously lacking new accounts who are genuine posters. So at the end I am hardly able to find 20 accounts after 3 hours and this is where I decided to stop for today.

Other factors considered while giving merits:
  • At least 15 posts or 15 days old account (exception if high quality post is made)
  • Due diligence is done to determine whether account is alt/farmed or not
  • One merit per account is given to cover as much newbie as I can. I will give more merits to certain posts later which I think deserved more than 1 merit.

Here are the newbies benefited from my expedition:

853  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-03-23] Bitcoin will continue to be volatile over the next few months on: March 24, 2020, 06:10:19 PM
Volatility is basic tendency of Bitcoin. Here is the data for the past five months:

October, 2019: Swing of $2600 (~ 35% of the lowest monthly price)
November, 2019: Swing of $2700 (~ 42% of the lowest monthly price)
December, 2019 : Swing of $1300 (~ 20% of the lowest monthly price)
January, 2020: Swing of $2400 (~ 34% of the lowest monthly price)
February, 2020: Swing of $1800 (~ 22% of the lowest monthly price)

I hope you got the idea. There is nothing special about the prediction from Michael. Even a junior school student can predict that Bitcoin will remain volatile over next few months. Unless, he specifically mention the volatility levels, there is nothing special in this article.
854  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Safe with bitcoin? on: March 24, 2020, 05:50:26 PM
Today we are experiencing a virus and that is the coronavirus or the NCov19 that is becoming pandemic immediately in just a single week and today there are a lot of people still going outside even there is a quarantine. The reason why? They need to go outside just to buy foods and things they need and also pay their bills they are prone to the virus also the virus can now be attached to the tangible things like money if they are already infected and touch the money with the virus it is rapidly spreading immediately. And today it is good to introduce the use of cryptocurrency or the bitcoin using online payment because it is more faster and secured they don't need to go outside too to pay other things they need and it is better if we are spreading those information so they can now made online payment and let's stop spreading of virus.

O come on man! You are talking non-sense and you know it. Tell me any of your monthly service (whether electricity, internet bill, mobile bill, water bill, house tax, etc) which accepts bitcoin as a payment. But most of these services accept internet banking or card payments. You can easily make such payments directly through your bank rather than hard cash. Problem solved, isn't it?

Don't divert the purpose of bitcoin. It isn't meant to overthrow other modes of payment but to provide much higher needed security and anonymity in making payments which I don't see relevant in this scenario.
855  Local / Off-Topic (India) / Re: Utilizing Work from Home! on: March 24, 2020, 03:56:13 PM
My life has become troublesome after lock down. Earlier I was able to wake up at 9 AM and somehow reached office by 10:30 AM. But now I hardly able to wake up before 11 AM. Cheesy

But the work rate has to be same. I receive work email every morning from my manager around 10 AM which I check around 12 AM. I have to submit daily report by 4 PM. So for next 4 hours, I have to work tirelessly to complete the work which I used to do in 7 hours in office.

After draining my whole energy, I am hardly utilizing rest of the time effectively. I am procrastinating most of my side projects since last 4 days and hardly giving any time to physical exercise. I duly hope that I start managing my daily schedule more effectively because same routine will continue for more upcoming days after announcement of additional 21 days lock down.
856  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we agree BTC is not a store of value? on: March 24, 2020, 08:12:45 AM
~~

Ain't FED looking so much desperate? I fear depreciation of US Dollar will impact most of the global currencies because major portion of the FOREX maintained by many countries is in US Dollar.

But in reality, money is the biggest and most widely used mode of store of value.
True, but fiat money is a terrible store of value. USD has lost >95% of its value over the last 100 years, and given what I've just discussed above, it's about to lose a lot more.

Yeah. I stopped considering fiat money as a store of value, the day I learnt about 'Minimum Reserve System'. In India, central banking authority i.e. RBI can print any amount of currency as long as it maintains the minimum reserve of 2 billion Indian Rupees (~ $26M) in gold and Forex (62.25% gold and 37.5% Forex). I mean really! You guys are printing n number of notes just because you have some $26M value of gold and Forex underlying!

That's the most awful concept I read during my graduation years. This clearly shows why Indian Rupee is too prone to depreciate over years. Minimum Reserve System was adopted in India in 1956 and since then INR have depreciated 97% against US Dollar.
857  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2020-03-13] Despite Bitcoin Price Dips, Crypto Is a Safe Haven in the Middle Ea on: March 23, 2020, 01:45:40 PM
That is what they all say until they have reached a point of capitulation and begin to sell in panic themselves hehehe. I reckon many of the safe haven buyers of December 2017 might be stressed in all of their years holding bitcoin. They know their money would have grown in value holding something else.

Well, we are in a very different situation now, imo. People who were buying BTC in December 2017 were buying at the top, and today we at the bottom, don't you think?

I tried with scuba diving, I tried with submarine but no man, it is not possible to determine the bottom of Bitcoin. I can easily predict bottom of most of the securities in stock market in normal conditions with my Trend Analysis knowledge. But for bitcoin, I am always wrong even in normal conditions. It can fall, it can rise, any time, arbitrarily.

If it's not the "end of Bitcoin", declared so many times before, those Middle East guys have a point in calling Bitcoin a safe-haven asset.

If Bitcoin's value is not zero, it doesn't mean it's a safe-heaven asset. We have to consider relative return whenever assessing whether an asset is safe investment or not. But in case of Bitcoin, most of the investors are either in very high profits or bearing very heavy losses. Ask those who invested when bitcoin was $19K. They are still at the loss of 70%. Will they every consider bitcoin as safe-investment?
858  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: March 23, 2020, 12:41:56 PM
Large sum of money is injected in Bitcoin market in last 1 hour. Volume grew 3 times while price took a leap of $500.
859  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin explained in a simple way - feedback needed on: March 22, 2020, 03:40:58 PM
I always like the sites with such content. I agree understanding Bitcoin is difficult due to lots of technical jargon involved. You did a good job by writing an easy overview on Bitcoin in home page.

However, there is a fine line between translating information into easy language and spoiling information that it becomes misleading. You did a fine job to keep information relevant except one thing that I noticed i.e. the use of expression 'Bitcoin Password'. This expression is misleading and doesn't make any sense. Initially you used Bitcoin Password for the private key and later you also used the same expression when you were explaining about mining. In mining explanation, this specific line was the most misleading one:

All miners compete to guess the block password

It doesn't make any sense. There is no password. Please re-examine this and improve your explanation. Except this, you did good job. Good Luck!
860  Economy / Economics / Re: Can we agree BTC is not a store of value? on: March 22, 2020, 02:17:43 PM
Bitcoin is digital currency payment and not store value, when your store can accepted bitcoin as payment transaction is not make you must have the same value between your store and bitcoin. Just looking how many people are interested with your accepted payment method using bitcoin and how much advantage than using cash money and bitcoin transaction.

I think you have misinterpreted the definition of 'store of value'.

Store of Value means storing the value in something and use the same value in future. In other words, anything which makes us capable of transferring purchasing power to future is store of value.

Your first line says,
Bitcoin is digital currency payment and not store value

But in reality, money is the biggest and most widely used mode of store of value. In fact, store of value is one of the three fundamental functions of money, other being medium of exchange and unit of account. For example, if I have 100 kg wheat but I only need 10 kg for now and I am worried that rest will perish, then I will simply sell the rest and keep the money in my wardrobe. Once my 10 kg wheat finishes, I will buy more with the money from my wardrobe. In this way, money acts as a store of value for 90 kg wheat which could be used in future.

However, in real world, money as a store of value fails due to the inflation. Hence more modern forms like bonds, etc are preferred as store of value.

People also think that stocks and Bitcoin (or cryptocurrencies) are store of value too. But we shall never consider such volatile assets as the store of value. We invest in such assets for returns. Store of value is conservative economic goal while return on investment is aggressive economic goal. So BIG NO! if you are investing money in Bitcoin to store value.
