861  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Lightning Chanel force close (unclear transaction) on: September 14, 2023, 04:55:42 PM

This proves that your transaction from force closing the channel is successful since the TX is already confirmed and funds credited back to your address so the pending incoming TX is something that is unrelated to your lightning network force closing (correct me if I am wrong).

The pending TX broadcasted with 1sat/vbyte which is too low when we look at the current mempool status: https://mempool.space/

So most nodes didn't pick your TX and eventually, it will be dropped from the mempool after 14 days if it's not rebroadcasted again.

Another change by modifying a letter in the file.
How did you change a letter in a .dat file?

After peeking at Op's post history here is what he did.

And I changed the file type,

For example :
a wallet.dat, which I had, was modified by software ... (it doesn't matter the software since the wallets are still there!)

Software has modified the file,
changing from .dat to .axx, and from .axx to .dat, after removing the software!

and going through .dat to .txt to read it too!

It's clear that he made some changes to the file while converting its been done via the software or by himself which corrupted the wallet.dat file and then qt created a new wallet which is why he is seeing different addresses. I am afraid there is an undo button for OP's fault and at least he should have created a backup before making changes so its a lesson and I assume the file is irrecoverable now.
863  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Why do members switch campaigns always? on: September 14, 2023, 12:28:25 PM
I switched only once if my memory serves right in all the years, I like to be in the long-running campaign no matter if their pay rate is half compared to some campaigns that popped up recently but I can only speak for myself and based on the opinions shared by others the probable cause is the high pay rate.

But if I am not wrong campaign managers don't like the attitude of switching campaigns too often, and some managers explicitly stated that on a few occasions.

Even I saw members applying for a campaign just after thanking them for accepting a signature campaign. Roll Eyes
864  Economy / Economics / Re: Human Capital, An Intangible Asset for a Company's success. on: September 14, 2023, 10:34:45 AM
I always admire companies and businesses, big and small, that heavily invest in human capital. A happy, healthy, and satisfied worker will always be a lot more productive than a worker who is underpaid, overworked, and is only keeping the job merely for the reason that he/she needs to eat three times a day. That's regardless of working hours.

In reality, big companies are doing it until they need the employees and once there is a way to cut short their expenses on salary, no big company hesitates or is willing to lose their profit instead of firing people so there is always some dark story behind every company we may or may not know.

But as you said if they keep the employees happy the results will be more efficient but I am afraid of what the future holds for us, especially with the development of AI, people are gonna lose their jobs and they have to prepare themselves for it with an alternative revenue stream.
865  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How we can sell and store crypto speacialy BTC on: September 13, 2023, 06:43:53 PM
how we can sell and parchase  crypto like BTC etc can we deposit directly into our account

You can use exchanges such as Binance or p2p Bisq/Paxful to buy and sell BTC for your fiat currency.
because in my country BTC and all others crypto is not acceptable

If cryptos are banned in your country then you can't use exchanges to buy cryptos,
i her that there are lots of 3rd party platform available for that and also online exchange company corporation

Usage of platforms depends on the legal status of cryptos in your nation and as I said if its banned only leaves you with the option of buying via decentralized P2P like Binance but if you are a complete beginner then you may not feel convenient using Bisq so Please refer through this guide: [GUIDE] How to buy and sell Bitcoin using Bisq

866  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: sweeping a BTC private key that holds airdropped BCH? on: September 13, 2023, 05:36:57 PM
If I sweep the private key into my Electrum Bitcoin wallet, do the BCH, Bitcoin SV and other airdrops remain attached to the private key?
Yes, Sweeping the private keys into electrum will give access to the Bitcoins associated with that address.
Once I sweep the key into Electrum, can I then sweep the same private key into another client that supports BCH and etc?
Yes.
You can import the same private keys on Coinomi to access the BCH.

If you need any help regarding claiming the hard-forked coins then use : LoyceV's Bitcoin Fork claiming guide (and service)
867  Other / Meta / Re: Fixing broken images on other's post? on: September 13, 2023, 03:31:12 PM
I suggested to upload all old imgur-images to talkimg (or another website), and ask theymos to update all existing image links, but it doesn't look like it's going to happen.

So we can conclude that there is no other way to replace the images unless theymos or the user itself replace those images.

For now, I am going to use the bandaid approach which is quoting the entire post which contains images and then replace those pictures using the [Script] Imgur to TalkImg - automatically fix your broken images, hopefully theymos will do something regarding this soon.
868  Other / Meta / Re: Fixing broken images on other's post? on: September 12, 2023, 08:19:33 PM
You can send personal message to the people that have the topic or post to fix the images because that is the best solution.
Most of the authors have been inactive for years so PMing them is not going to make any changes.

Publish the post as is and use the Imgur to TalkImg script, which will automate the process for you.
This will work but I am not really going to quote the entire posts which are usually too long.

Thanks for the idea It will work as a temporary way but we have masterminds and AI members so there is the possibility of coming up with a better way is the actual reason why I brought up this discussion.
869  Other / Meta / Fixing broken images on other's post? on: September 12, 2023, 07:41:29 PM
We have a tool [Script] Imgur to TalkImg - automatically fix your broken images created by TryNinja, which will fix our old invalid images uploaded via Imgur hosting site on bitcointalk.

I am wondering if there is any possible way to fix broken images in other people's posts. I'm asking this because quite often, I come across many guides that were created years ago, and they now have broken images. These guides contain valuable details, and if I want to recommend one to a newbie seeking help, having the pictorial details is crucial for them to understand the complete content of the guide.

I've had this thought for a while, and I'm sharing it now as it might provide a possible solution for posting guides created by others, with all the images.
870  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [100 dots] seed phrase backup on: September 12, 2023, 05:14:02 PM
Excellent suggestions in theory, but a hammer and a punch aren't the most precise implements, and from experience I can tell you that attempting to punch centering holes in close proximity to one another is nearly impossible without making a mess of things.  Especially if you're starting with a small substrate, like credit-card sized ones I used for my seeds.
With such a small surface it is an almost impossible task or at least for me to have accurate 100 dots. Cheesy

I can see a few other ideas to keep our seeds private from community members in the last couple of days but I am asking myself how many people are going to take this risk with their primary wallet seeds? Even with multiple backups, the secret innovative storage of keys or seeds seems risky to me.
871  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: [100 dots] seed phrase backup on: September 12, 2023, 11:06:33 AM
Transparent sheet is necessary? Why not a white sheet?

Definitely possible for anyone to try this if they want to secure seeds in a secret way but hope when someone finds the metal plate will not see this thread.

Anyone who is going to try this method needs to work on their accuracy in hammering skills ( I am too bad at that).

Seems like the idea is inspired by the famous series 'Breaking Bad' - Hector Salamanca's Communication Method. Cheesy
872  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: What advantages exist when generating hardened child keys from unharden? on: September 12, 2023, 09:09:37 AM
Is there any practical advantage in generating a hardened child key from an unhardened parent key within the framework of BIP32?

Yes, Isolation of funds. In case if attacker has access to the extended public keys and one of the private keys derived from it still the remaining funds from the main source will be secure so this is practically useful when accepting payments online stores so that you can avoid losing all your funds if they are hacked.

873  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: hello need help technical support please ! on: September 10, 2023, 05:33:44 PM
I am kind of having trouble with understanding what you are trying to say,

I assume you modified your wallet dat file and it is showing an error/not recognized by core. But you are supposed to have a backup of your wallet dat file before making any changes. If you do then try replacing it.

Another problem is entirely different, your address created by HD Wallet will be there so either you send funds to the wrong address or copied the wrong address which is the reason you can't see the address. You can try to import the HD wallet into another HD wallet using the mnemonic phrase so it will work in case if the previous wallet is having any issues related to syncing.

Check the address on https://www.blockchain.com/explorer to see the balance.

874  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Friendly warning:You might want to be careful of the so-called arbitrage trading on: September 10, 2023, 02:48:58 PM
The point is, he was providing us with a new set of information to avoid such conditions where our assets would be gone while performing arbitrage trading in crypto exchanges.

The moment we deposit our funds into an exchange's wallet, we lose our authority over our funds and the exchange can hold anyone's account for any reason that is why we keep saying' not your keys, not your cryptos', but why particularly about arbitrage which doesn't strike me.

AFAIK, Arbitrage trading is completely legal in the crypto world and as far as I researched no country has any policy against it in their regulations and also went over the exchange's terms and conditions there is nothing against it so my point is arbitrage trading is allowed but highly risky and not possible to achieve consistent success more often.
875  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: alternative to coinomi (android) on: September 09, 2023, 09:33:05 PM

It is not supporting coin control.

It can not sign a message.

You can use it to customize fee.

Added to this,  their fee estimation is pretty vague so you can't estimate the actual fee without looking into https://mempool.space/ like site.

You can't see all the addresses until the created one atleast get a successful transaction.

So as said its good wallet for multiple coins but definitely not the one for Bitcoin.
876  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: alternative to coinomi (android) on: September 09, 2023, 06:36:31 PM
Let me quote myself from LoyceV's thread

Have you considered Unstoppable Wallet? Which is open source multi-crypto available on both Android and IOS.

Their supported coins list - https://www.cryptowisser.com/wallet/unstoppable-wallet/coins?page=1

URL: https://unstoppable.money/
Github: https://github.com/horizontalsystems

AFAIK,  Unstoppable Wallet seems to be the most recommended one for multi-crypto mobile wallet by most of the community members for now.
877  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Lowest Absolute Fee With 0.0008 - 0.0032 BTC Transfers And Total Time on: September 09, 2023, 05:36:43 PM
FYI, TX fees are based on the size of the transaction, not the amount you transfer.

Let's say your 0.0008BTC comes from one UTXO still the TX fee varies depending type of wallet address.

So the size of your TX will be

1 Legacy addy input and 1 Legacy add output = 192 bytes

1 Segwit addy input and 1 segwit addy output = 144 bytes

So the increases with more inputs and outputs and also the type of address ( Legacy, Segwit, Taproot).

Now looking at the mempool status you need to go with 15sat/vbyte for your TX to get confirmed in the next block.

You can use https://coinb.in/#fees to estimate your TX size then check https://mempool.space/ to know what is the fee required for faster confirmation.

Or the simpler way is to open your Electrum wallet whether it is Andoird or PC, enter the send address then you will click pay tab There you choose 'Mempool", not ETA, Not Static then will be notified what is the fee required depends on where you want to place your TX for example 0.6MB from tip/ 0.8MB from tip so more you closer the fee will be higher but as long as you are stay in 1MB from tip range then your TX will likely to be included in the next block.
878  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Friendly warning:You might want to be careful of the so-called arbitrage trading on: September 09, 2023, 03:02:27 PM
This could partly explain why some exchanges lock some people's accounts without telling them the reason.
So you are saying exchanges are locking/suspending accounts or trades because they believe the person is doing arbitrage trading?

I don't think so and there is no reason for them to do so because they are not going to lose anything even the other exchange because it is going to bring more transaction fees and withdrawal fees for them which mostly contribute to the exchange's profits.

I agree that arbitrage trading is highly risky but doing it not going to upset the exchanges so if traders can able to find price differences in exchange for a particular coin and they successfully manage to execute the trade within the timeframe that will end up in profit for them but its highly unlikely for anyone to succeed consistently.
879  Other / Meta / Re: Simplified view of bitcointalk. on: September 09, 2023, 09:59:10 AM
It improves the visibility a little bit and widens what you can see on your screen. But I find posting in landscape mode harder than in normal view. The keyboard occupies half of the screen, and makes reading forum posts harder when active. I also don't like the space between the buttons that occurs if you turn the phone to landscape mode.

Actually, we can't replace the convenience of typing with a keyboard and hovering via mouse cursor so it becomes mandatory if someone really wants to make posts with proper formatting, quoting multiple posts and answering in one post, or editing one post into multiple to answer each and every part separately.

We can use the landscape mode for reading purposes but I am okay with the vertical orientation with a little bit of zoom in/out if necessary and an occasional post without quoting or quoting the complete post.

If you are posting only with a phone, tough luck, Bitcointalk won't give you too much pleasure.
In case someone doesn't have a PC then your best friend is going to be an OTG adaptor with that we can connect a keyboard, mouse even gaming console with USB ports to Android devices.

That's a decent alternative, and I didn't think of that. I have heard of such Bluetooth keyboards but never seen one up close or heard anyone close to me owning one. Looking at the prices, they seem affordable, which is another plus.
I have one but it is made for a Samsung tablet but honestly, it doesn't give the experience of an actual keyboard. The ones shared look like actual ones so it may be the one.

Too bad that you can't connect an external mouse to the keyboard which would work on the phone as well.
Still possible, connect the wireless keyboard and wired mouse via OTG then here you go the mini computer. Cheesy
880  Economy / Economics / Re: Stable coin or having USD in bank on: September 08, 2023, 06:25:34 PM
If you ask for USD or USDT then I will say USD is safer whether you keep them in a bank account or in your own vault.

For USD or BTC the answer is different and both are completely different in nature, acceptability, censorship, and everything else but since I understand the potential of BTC I will use some money on BTC but not my entire portfolio.

'Don't put all your eggs in one basket", also works with bitcoin, and considering the nature of the asset I advise no one to hold any more money than they can afford to lose in/as bitcoin.
