I am curious as to what people expect of the price of DNotes as we run up to the swap to DNotes 2.0 later this month.

I anticipate that the rollout of DNotes 2.0 and all the PR that would accompany that would increase interest in DNotes and the price would go up. I actually expect a significant run-up, but I won't share my wildest speculations.

So, I would also expect that those who are already aware of DNotes would be buying before the swap in order to stock up before that run. That might also put some stress on the supply of DNotes available in Poloniex and the other exchanges, which could further move the price. Especially as they move their DNotes to the DNotes Vault to await the swap.

Just be clear here - I own some DNotes already in the Vault and I am trading in Poloniex a small amount, mostly just playing around based on my expectation of the price movements. (If I'm wrong about the price and/or I get stuck holding some DNotes at a trading loss it's not a problem, I'll just stick them in the Vault before the swap).

I understand that the DNotes insiders here might not publicly discuss price expectations, I can certainly appreciate that.

But I would be interested to hear anyone's thoughts on this.

Right now, we are looking at a coin swap with an updated algorithm and a couple of new features to help those in the US get a hold of crypto in an easier way. This was a coin created in 2014, so it has been out there for a while and we had a large community at the time. The original dev suffered a serious accident and we are in contact with him to help us bring USDE into line with the newest cons/tokens. It is a process because we all have daytime jobs and families, but we are constantly talking about the road ahead on a daily basis.

People on the internet... beware that in most crypto forums, users try to impersonate people and drive efforts to move opinions of the mass to bring values of coins to their needs. Don't follow these influences and base your knowledge on practical proofs you understand. If you can't understand, ask! The community will respond eventually. If you don't ask, you will never know, and you might be seduced to something you might not be certain about.

The last recommendation is... compare your results and answers. Dought people and reason with them until you are 100% sure. Not anyone that looks reasonable is reasonable. Starting by myself... Take my words if have enough proof... but don't believe everyone on the internet.

I don't see what all the fuss is about. Sure for people who think crypto is just some gee-wiz hot new tech and don't understand the corruption of fiat currency, this regulation makes sense to them. For people that believe in decentralization and subsequently projects like this, how exactly does this regulation apply? Sure, it makes it less convenient for people trying to raise funds, but how exactly do they regulate people from starting new coins and... offering them to the public? If you're going to run a company under the strata of existing legislation, sure this type of thing affects you. Otherwise, sounds like theres not much they can do to differentiate this from established coins.

A major correction in the market  from a SWOT perspective.

I do know that prices have often pulled back after a rally but am a little skeptical this round as China's investors seem to form  a significant portion of cryptocurrency players/holders and most new ICOs are based on ETH and may not hold as well as BTC.

The Chinese exchanges are selling the coins at super low prices; it's quite obvious it's a panic sell as apart from looking at  banning ICOs , the government will also be  investigating  the exchanges.

For long-term investors, better to just hold and ride out this storm.

I think wiser hit the nail on the head with his point #4 above. From reading through this thread and trying to get an understanding of where some of the issues lie it's clear to me that for this coin to survive one of the main things that need to happen is to switch this coin to Proof of Stake with a fair interest rate, eliminating the need for anyone to buy back Devcoin. Create a new wallet and give people a grace period to transition over to the new wallet, after that burn the old coins. Get the community involved in resurrecting this coin in the same way Dimecoin and Embercoin has, encouraging people to trade the coin and create liquidity
