881  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Board explanation for newbies on: July 01, 2023, 12:32:11 AM
I noticed most newbies make post in wrong section and of course members always correct them  I  don't know if any post like this have been made before but i want to suggest  that a more established member than I who knows these boards better should please create a thread in the beginner section on what kind of posts should be on each boards to assist these newbies
Thanks

I don't think that's necessary I know that most of the newbie coming here is not familiar with this forum and maybe even bitcoin and cryptocurrency in general, but this forum is using a common language that is also used in other place like English and some other local language. So, even if you are not familiar with some technical term, some section is self-explanatory, some has a quick explanation on the forum home page, and I think most of it has a detailed rules on each subforum/section page.
882  Economy / Economics / Re: I don't believe you on: July 01, 2023, 12:15:07 AM
You don't know the owner, but what makes you sure to deposit bitcoin to exchange?.

what makes you sure that your Bitcoin arrived safely and was not taken away by the owner?

I always thought that,
same as banks, I don't want to save it for long time, because banks often go bankrupt, and the owner run overseas.

There is nothing could guarantee that your bitcoin or even the exchange itself will be just gone after you deposit your bitcoin, but there are some stuff that you can consider to pick the exchange that will less likely to just steal your bitcoin. Something like Reputation and Testimonials about certain exchange are everywhere around the internet, including this forum. I will feel a lot safer to trade my bitcoin in the top coinmarketcap exchange rather than some random exchange that I have never heard of it. Tho after what happened to FTX you will still be worry, but it just like picking the least risky exchange.

Welcome to the forum.

Is it the right time to invest in Bitcoin?

I think I have read this question like more than hundred times in this forum, my answer is always the same, it is always the right time to START investing in Bitcoin. If are about to start buying bitcoin then just buy it, not like much, but just set aside small amount of your money and use it to buy bitcoin now, after you are learning more about bitcoin and crypto you can decide whether this is the right kind of investment for you or not.
884  Economy / Economics / Re: Ignore this Classic Business Law or Follow Your Instincts? on: June 30, 2023, 11:30:27 AM
For me personally it will really depend on how much money the start-up asking me to invest, if they asking like huge amount of money like $1M (if I have that much money) even if my instinct strongly suggest that I should invest on them, but I don't understand how they work, I still wouldn't invest, I wouldn't listen 'bet' $1M on my instinct.
885  Economy / Economics / Re: Am I a bad person if I manage to avoid taxes? (Hypothetical question) on: June 30, 2023, 11:25:06 AM
Yes, I think your hypothetical self in your thread is a 'bad' person, definitely not as bad as a person who kills, or rob, but still you are violating the rules that has been applied and (maybe) agreed by the society.

All that being said I still have a second thought, this will be the next question I assume it still related to your question. The reason why I consider your hypothetical self is a bad person is because you are doing something illegal, so my question is how if you 'legally' avoiding tax, like there is some loophole in the law that could allows you to not paying tax and you are using it, so you won't be violating any laws, are you still a bad person?
886  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia and others, move to use Yuan instead of dollar. on: June 30, 2023, 01:58:14 AM
Tho specifically for Russia, they move to Yuan because of the US Sanction, China has really huge producing power, most of things are now made in China, so no wonder that they have the power to led other country to directly use Yuan instead of trading with them with USD.
USD clearly won't be as influential as before, so this might not as strong as before it will be more volatile. This will also affect America's political power, they used to have much influence to the global politic as other countries preferring their currency, their embargo won't be as feared as in the past. So yeah, mostly they will lose their power, but to be honest, I think they will find a way to avoid this. Don't get me wrong, I am not a US fan, its just, they have been global power for long, and they always manage to avoid their fall. One of the policy that has been applied was import band from several Chinese company, tho their saying is related to Uighur but it still has economic impact.
887  Other / Meta / Re: What does post quality really mean on: June 30, 2023, 01:33:53 AM
No I don't think so, high merit per post count doesn't always means the person always make a good post, it's not a secret that there are many people abusing merit, I mean not everyone is abusing merit but it's truly many. And if that's true than I am considered as a low quality poster, tho maybe I am, but I always try to make my post informative and adding something to the discussion, not always give a solution but I won't just type useless stuff and shitpost.

Now, what I consider as a good post, - I don't think that there are a standard for an actual good post that everyone is agreed in this forum except the post shouldn't plagiarize anything, so it might be very subjective -
  • If you are making a new thread, you need to search whether similar thread already made before, if yes read the previous thread and if your still can't find the answer just join the discussion and ask your question in that thread
  • If you are making a new thread or replying to a please make it at least understandable, use something like gramarly for tidying up your post, it's not rare that I saw some post that are not even understandable
  • don't talk bullshit, only talk about something that you are really have the knowledge about it, so you don't accidentally spread false information
  • Never do plagiarism, it will get you banned

I think that's all you need to make a 'good' post or at least 'fairly good' post, I know my standard is not that high on good post, but I think this is the minimum requirement that you are not considered spamming with your post.
888  Economy / Economics / Re: How we survive food shortages on: June 30, 2023, 12:56:15 AM
There is really nothing any crypto could do to solve the food shortages and climate problem, the best crypto and blockchain could do in order to help this problem is collecting the data, but if there is no breakthrough in agriculture science and industry, even the most sophisticate blockchain and crypto tech wouldn't help.
889  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Promotion methods. Dark & Bitcointalk? on: June 29, 2023, 08:18:43 AM
I don't know anything about advertisement on the dark web (and AFAIK Bitcointalk doesn't have onion address), but in this forum it's pretty straight forward I think.

Last but not least, since you are posting with Newbie account, and your question in this post seems like all over the place, I advice to move/post this question in the Beginners and Help section
890  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can I Recover my loss of crypto on this platform? on: June 29, 2023, 07:52:06 AM
Hay, I am New here and know about Bitcoin for the last few years but I lost many times in crypto trading. So my question is that how to trade Securely and profitably? And what are the rules and regulations for me that must follow this platform recommended some close ones will say you will learn from this platform so much and I hope to recover from the loss and get a lot of benefits and knowledge gain that is why I am very excited to hear.

I don't get what you mean in your post, so first 'you lost some money on bitcoin trading', second 'you want to make up for your loss in here (bitcointalk.org), third 'you asking the rules and regulations in this platform'. Now, Bitcointalk is not exchange or trading platform it is a forum when you can learn about bitcoin and crypto, so you can't really make up for your trading loss in here. Fortunately, you can also learn about Bitcoin Trading in this forum, on this section Trading Discussion, then you can apply your knowledge to your future trading.
891  Economy / Economics / Re: After Making Money In Bitcoin, How is Black Tax Affecting You Economically? on: June 29, 2023, 07:19:56 AM
This is the first time I hear the term of 'Black Tax' but where I come from, people who has black tax are called 'Sandwich Generation' meaning we need to fulfill our need (and family if already have wive or kid), and fulfill our parents and sibling needs. While I couldn't said from my experience since both my parents passed away when I was relatively young, and I haven't got much money even to fulfill my needs, but I have some friends who have the same position as you now, and I happened to asked some of them how they handle those things, some of them answer some of them think that's too personal.

On some answers I can conclude that it vary depends on the nature and habit of their family. Some family are very supportive and understanding so they will not ask much, or even never ask,  they will just be grateful on whatever they received from their adult kid. My friend who has this type of family never really has any trouble he give what he want to give and keep the rest for himself.

While other family are just so ungrateful, they they demand more and more from their adult kid, they will compare what they receive from their kid to other neighboring family. Most of the time this type of family asking 80% or 90% (if not all) of your salary/income. So my friend who has this tpe of family lies about their income, they will keep half of the money secret put it in some secret account or something.

So, IMHO, you shouldn't be fully responsible for other people live especially if they are an adult, you help with what you can and what you are willing to give, you shouldn't be obligated to sacrifice your own life for other people, even if it is parents or your siblings.
892  Economy / Economics / Re: Should I Use Emergency funds or Sell my Assets ? on: June 28, 2023, 10:57:06 PM
I will be very careful not to give you anything that's directly a financial advice, since I am not a professional. So let's just say what will I do if I am in your position,

It will depend on how much is my emergency fund and what is my 'assets'. If my emergency fund is like one year of my living cost (or more) and my assets is fast moving assets (like stock, securities, crypto, and such) I would definitely use my emergency fund and leave my asset as it is. If my assets is slow moving assets (like property, land, .etc) I would sell my assets and turn it into fast moving, mostly into Bond since it low risk (I might still invest on high profit like crypto or stock, but it really depend on the value of my assets).

If my emergency fund is less than 6 month of my living cost and my assets is a slow moving one then I would immediately or even desperately sell my assets, if it fast moving, I will sell my assets gradually.
893  Economy / Economics / Re: What could Elon Musk be buying next? on: June 28, 2023, 10:45:08 PM
This might sound ridiculous, and people might say that I am talking horseshit lol, but it's just my gut. I believe Elon has done with tech and that stuff, he is into politics now, and one of the main reason he bought Twitter is so he could control the narrative of online political discussion, again it's just like a conspiracy theory but that's my opinion.

Maybe in near future we will see he will be campaigning to be senator or governor,
894  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Teacher and Classmates Labeling Bitcoin as a Ponzi Scheme or a Scam on: June 28, 2023, 10:18:20 AM
I am really sorry to hear what happened to your nephew, I hope he doesn't get bullied because of his curiosity. But on the other I understand that some people still have a bad view toward crypto, my advice would be to stop discussing crypto at the school, except he was being asked. I am not saying that he should give up on learning about Bitcoin but just not in school, sometimes it's good to just be no one at school but being a geek outside of school.

896  Other / Meta / Re: Is it allowed to post in English in a Local Section on: June 28, 2023, 09:25:40 AM
As far as I know, in Bahasa Indonesia (for Indonesian) there is no rule that prohibit anyone to post in English - or at least not written in the general rules here. However, in my few years reading and observing the Indonesian Local section, I haven't sees any thread that are using full English, I mean most of the people write there because they don't need the extra effort writing in foreign language, so there is no point writing an English post there.
897  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [Scam]: Fake 5000 BTC Gemini Airdrop on: June 28, 2023, 09:20:20 AM
~

This kind of scam is not a new thing, so people should be aware that it is a scam, this is what happened when people click on the 'Official link to get BTC'
Don't do a screenshot like this, I can see your photo at the top and a lot of data about you. Tongue

@icalical yeah I agree better take down the screenshot or replace it without your computer data on it.

Thanks for the advice guys, probably too late but I have changed the image and crop it. But no worry, nothing that's not already everywhere on the internet, so no big deal.

Nothing fancy, they basically just ask to send some Bitcoin for verification, again not a new trick, will definitely just take those BTC away and never send anything back. Good catch by OP tho, just surprised that this type of scam is still a thing.

I first stumble this kind of Send me Bitcoin first to test or verify your address scheme five years ago and they keep modifying and updating the scheme, I guess it's still effective which is why they keep using this scheme, I wonder after five years will we still see this scheme, they take it down had a cooling period and when the bull run is coming when there are new investors coming in, it will resurface again.

I guess when we preach and help people to invest in Bitcoin, part of this is teaching this scheme we don't want new investors to experience this because it will motivate scammers and schemers to continue using this scheme.

Yeah there is always a new guy who just know about crypto that is too naive and thinking that they can get rich overnight, there is only so much we can do to help those people tho.
898  Economy / Economics / Re: 85% of AI start-ups will fail within 3 years. on: June 28, 2023, 09:09:01 AM
This is kinda true, tho I am not sure about the number of 85% since I never do any research on it, but it's I think it's about the right number. And it's not only AI, it happened in almost all break-through project. Like DeFi, in the previous trend or even more common industry like Online Transportation like Uber and Grab, there used to be a lot like this project but then only few is thrive and successful. User will slowly move to one project that are truly know what the users need, some industry doesn't even take up to 3 years to eliminate some projects.
It is the reality, just because AI is the ongoing trend companies focus on it. They never think about the real time usage as well as the affordability. Most of the projects initially focus the premium people which means the company is able to generate revenue reaching small number of people whereas it requires large marketing to make it generate revenue reaching the bottom people. When the real-time usage is connected with the common mans involvement the project turns successful.

Yeah same old same old, most of project just looking to make quick money from the investor, they rarely think about the actual sustainability and scalability, just promising the investors that they might get a profit overnight.

Remember 2007? The year of ICOs. There were countless number of ICOs launched in 2007 and today only handful are known while rest either collapsed or abandoned by the owners. Today its summer of AI and everyone jumping into this sector for making a fortune. Only project that have right vision and team that has necessary skills along with motivation will survive rest all will be history in a matter of time. Its natural thing that whenever something new pops up, people jump into it for making money.

Yeah I remember than day, a dozens of new ICO project everyday, from very common idea like Real-estate to some weird and wild project like blockchain dating apps and even porn. After ICO then DeFI, move to NFT, move to Web3 and then AI, everyone just jump into the bandwagon, and most of them have no idea what they are getting into.

900  Economy / Economics / Re: Has everyone become too pesimistic about the economy? on: June 27, 2023, 12:09:26 AM
The countries around the world are in debt like never before, the banks had created endless money at very low rates, the small banks will be swallowed up by the big ones and of course the losses will be for us citizens.

In many countries, young people can no longer buy their apartment, sometimes cannot rent either, some even have to stop their studies because of rental prices. Young Americans start their working lives over-indebted because of their studies, is that all normal Huh?

The situation seems much worse than during the subprime crisis in any case. People who leave their money in the bank lose it to inflation and some governments are likely to be tempted by bank account confiscations.

The economic situation is terrible and was before COVID because this system of debts is at the end of its rope, the shutdown of world economies has only made things worse, sometimes leaving people dependent on tourism with nothing.

But human beings are creative and most will find solutions regardless, maybe a minority, but there will be.

This is the reality, true that the recession is not going to happened to most of countries, because the production rate is not going down people still produce goods and selling it, people still making money, but the inflation is through the roof. If each government not quickly making good fiscal policy that has significant effect, then the people should be ready for the worse stage.
