I am talking about a program, thats easy to install, simple, easily updatable and it should somewhat look proffessional. Well yes you might need a bounty for this and i guess a BTC payment would somewhat help.
I hope people don't think bad of me, because i am suggesting to much^^ Just trying to help Wink
Ask yourself. How would a big company handle this stuff and try to do it the same way as much as possible. I know you guys are on a budget, but i hope you give it your all Wink
I wouldn't really suggest anything if i didn't like this coin.
No, not at all, appreciated the suggestions, that's right the way I'd like to see.  Smiley

The issues lie in my side, I have to be frank; we have the best marketing persons in the world though. After month and month, I found out I have to take care of something so that I can continue the real & crypto life, probably I can bring the magi project more financial assistance as well. I only hope to hold people's patience & trust, as I said I'll bring magi throughout 2015; space is a need for me to pass through. I was keen to see the price rising as I believed most of people did. The actual situation is complex, however, I can't talk something which nullify the efforts our marketing team is doing. If you really like magi, then I hope we can go on the same way, perhaps price is not all about, while I very understand that's an essential part in a coin and being the reason some people are around.

Spexx's pack should be able to easy things out, once people take few minutes to follow / read instructions carefully; you only need to do it once.

As to GUI, NeedIfFindIt's miner: http://xmg.makejar.com/ Also some one offered Simplicity long time ago, will need to adapt to new miners though: https://github.com/aceoyame/Simplicity-XMG

Programming contest won't work out in my view, guess only few people around who can do this task. But if we offer few BTC bounties, that's gonna a different talk. In a simple way, we offer bounties if one can contribute along that, and any other stuffs; just ask us, Smiley here or PM, me, magic, jawitech.

http://xmg.makejar.com/ is buggy in Win64, it will stop the cpu efficiency limitation after some hours and cannot even start again in my Windows 2008 VPS, and it totally cannot run in my Windows 8.

Yes, I agreed that programming contest is useless, BTC bounties is good  Grin

What kind of GUI required? BTW, I thought joelao95 can do coding, right? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=848697.msg9453656#msg9453656 Is this you job?

I can fix that Wink NeedIfFindIt's version is much better basically, I may drop him a PM.

Good luck to all participating in this contest.

If you need some ideas, what to make a video about:

For crypto newbies, it could be interesting to see how some tasks are done, like installing the wallet, setting up the miner, how to buy / sell coins and so on. Some educational videos are always helpful. I remember when I searched for videos on youtube when setting up my ASICs for the first time ^^

great ideas, educational movies are must for any coin to be on official website yet non coin have them i need to stop hashing with one machine and start instaling adobe mc on it Cheesy ill do that tommorow. See you guys its late here or early in the morning  Cheesy

That sounds nice. Everyone is welcome to give it a try, even screen shots of your mouse moving around, but must be on top of magi wallet if you really want to do that way. Grin I propose some reward for each of participants even they are not the winner.

Personally I'd prefer a video which can show the idea of magi, the PoW and PoS-II, thoughtful and helping disseminating the idea. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7EkAbPacS7c can be a reference, but I'd prefer a one better and professional. If one can make video very professional, he will surely deserve extra rewards. I'd personally make that happen.

The moment people see a batchfile or cmd window they will lose interest, most of them at least. Only people with a fable for this stuff will really care about it. So how about changing that contest to something better. Why not making it a programming contest. A open source gui for mining magi, where you only need to input stuff an press run or the less you have to input the better. Prefering a gui where you only have to selekt stuff, like what pool, how many cores to use and so on. All the other stuff can happen in the background. You would get way more supporters for this coin as there are soooo few coins that have gui miners. After that you can care about marketing and getting it to the tech casual crowd.

I think karma coin is one coin that tries to use the computer power to do good(i don't know what algo they use). I am realy only like two weeks into cryptocurrency and have yet much to learn. But i was looking for good coins, thats why i came to magi. It's kind of unique with it's M7 algo. But i found others too. Storj and maidsafe try to use your hdd space to create something like a decentralized dropbox and more. Etherium is trying to do much more and i realy can't explain how, but it sounds like they are trying to decentralize the whole internet. Burst is atleast power efficient by mining files on your hdd, but they too want to create decentralized storage in the future. And to be honest i only see a future for coins with a purpose for all this computation power and hdd space.

Thanks for getting into magi. I'd tell you, magi's unique is not about the algo, at least not any more, but about the hybrid PoW/PoS-II, PoW design, and the PoS-II which gets accepted more or less now.

I won't reject new stuffs, but I am not yet fully confirmed by putting efforts into creating something new, standalone. Bitcoin and Peercoin are good enough; we basically don't need many other stuffs, what we need are to keep improvements by standing top of prior works, rather than creating new completely which is simply a waste. In that way, we can step into a more advanced system. If magi deserves some merits, I like to see people make use of those to advance forward further. Surely people can create completely new which is far beyond the bitcoin. Those "new" stuffs are exactly where scam coins are born. People like new, so scams just create new to feed people, is that about it?

And yeah, I don't yet look into these coins, so basically I can't argue much, will do some research.

Tried it, when I use a fresh wallet.dat there seem to be no problems Huh

Does this mean my own wallet.dat is corrupt? It loads just fine, but whenever Im prompted for my password it crashes as soon as I enter it.
Ive also tried dumpprivkey, returns error code 4.

Damnnnn
That's very weird; using the old wallet at least give you synced, but seems like you got the connection issue too, right? I tried in my machine using old wallet.dat and fresh new, everything is just fine. Could you confirm if using 32 bit wallet fixed your issue? If so, use that for your prior wallet. You can have the old wallet tested in another laptop and sync from scratch. Also I can try to get a fix for you if you send me wallet.dat but you have to tell me the password and trust me.  Cheesy (or without password, just to confirm)

All was started with actual miner name +
Quote
-o stratum+tcp://mine2.magi.nonce-pool.com:4090 -u Misiak.misiak -p misiak --quiet -t 8

And I tried 8 instances with -t 1 with same result.

@hefty turbo is of course enabled but I will try to disable power save mode (never had problems with it for other coins)
Can you check other coins mining, just to be sure? don't see any issue with the miner. As Spexx mentioned, do you use any Speed Controller or CPU controller? Easiest is just testing another coin mining.
891  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XMG] Coin Magi | CPU mining | PoS-II | PoM | Unique BLK reward | [MagiPay] on: February 13, 2015, 04:07:33 PM
Is it possible to change what the hashing power of all the miners is used for? What i see right now is that there is a shift to coins that don't let you hashing power go to waste like most coins do right now. Some coins are starting to give it a purpose like folding proteins or doing other calculations for a good cause or at least for something else. There are coins starting to use your cpu, gpu and even your harddrive to mine for a reason. Giving out your harddrivespace for rent or you cpus and gpus power so that someone can calculate their stuff. I guess these coins have a future compared to those that just waste the computing power used. Is it possible to change Magi to do the same? Not just currencies are getting decentralized there is so much more decentralitation going on and it should not be ignored. This process will need a lot of computerpower and harddrivespace and any coin that is not giving their power to that process might die.

This is appealing to me, since me, myself doing research stuffs too. I was ever trying to find a way to make the algo much meaningful by using it for some purpose, but failed to see the importance of that, and the way we can make it really meaningful. Then I decided to mess up something. I don't know the bio stuffs though, but was trying to figure out primecoin which searches for prime numbers. I admit appealing of its achievement, but who really cares about that, and that doesn't really sound science, to me. It is fun by achieving historical record, we can make efforts aftering "perfect", for example, finding the pi number: http://www.angio.net/pi, but does that really matter using 200 number of pi or 100 numbers in computation? It's perfectly fine running a PC for few days to figure it out, but totally waste having 1000 PC for this task again and again.

As an example, 1000 pc running for searching a PoW question, one found the solution, aka, minting a block, whilst the efforts of other 999 pc are simply wasted at the time when one of them found the solution. Importance which makes sense is to use the network hashing power concurrently, and find something that really needs repetition of solving.

I don't see the impossibility of finding algo which does this purpose (let me know if other coins did, like the one folding proteins did?). If not, we should take a look at the wasted hashing power in maintaining the block chain, e.g., the primecoin or the one doing protein cal, and compare that with the hashing power used in magi. I think one can easily figure that out.

I agree doing science or making it something is better than none, but that is just an appealing point, and that is totally nothing if not doing right. I keep thinking / finding the purpose of a cryptocoin. A coin should maintain this purpose a coin is supposed to be; being emphasizing on other stuffs without addressing the original purpose is mostly trivial. A coin should at least aim at saving energy, keeping distribution fair, mining accessible to most of people, a purpose I've viewed.

Point me anything I missed. I open to any suggestions, and surely to the direction we can make change to something meaningful. The algo change doesn't matter the magi design, so we have room for that purpose, being "science" and without compromising the purpose.

And after this I get magi has stopped working and needs to close blabla.

My coins are lost Sad?

Btw my firewall isnt blocking anything.

It'll be safe if you have a backup of the wallet; try the following tests:

# Remove everything from the magi data directory, unzip blockchain into that; do not copy & paste your prior wallet.dat, so only those files from the zip file sit in the "Magi" folder. let the qt-wallet create a fresh one
# launch the 32 bit qt wallet
# see if you can get synced and any error you get same as before (do lock & unlock)

I tried the blockchain in my xp machine running the 32 bit wallet without any issues so far.

Looks like something is still blocking block chain updating. Could you find another PC to try it out? Someone who reported the connection issue before finally found out because of the firewall, make sure this is really not the cause.

I am getting only 15 khash on i7 4700 MQ why?

tried all old and new versions of miner and still the same. My CPU is used only uder 30% with 8 threads...

can you help me please?

Thanks!

The new version should give much higher hashrate than the old. Could you indicate which link of miner you're using and post the command that launches the miner?

My wallet is syncing slow as hell, is there a bootstrap available somewhere?

edit; not syncing at all. 7 active connections but no progress.
stuck around block 115000.

Try close and reopen the wallet.

Tried that, not working. Running the latest version 1.2.1.1

Still stuck.

Could anyone upload their blockchain file please ?

My wallet is also very slow.
Tried to send 40K, error message (same with 20K)
Sending 10K takes about 30 seconds before sending.
Restarted wallet once today. (which takes a few (!) minutes to load blockchain)

This usually happens when sending a large amount by utilizing many small inputs.

Try one of these two:
http://coinmagi.org/files/m-blockchain/m-blockchain-183290.7z
http://coinmagi.org/files/m-blockchain/m-blockchain-183290.zip

-delete everything in your magi data directory except wallet.dat (keep a backup of it)
-unzip above to magi data directory
-open up qt-wallet

Also make sure your firewall is not blocking wallet. Download the following, check "keep unblock" when prompted up at the 1st launching of the qt wallet:
http://coinmagi.org/files/magi-release/m-wallet-1.2.1.2-win.zip

at what phase is magipay? www does not work for a month, that the issue of mining is good all the time is discussed. But someone forgot about the investors here, it worries me that some are unkept promises?
Yeah, I understand, that is mostly due to my personal business. The site is fully functional and the backend is working well too (you can check the site out, get registration too). We can launch / advertise it right away, but that is not I'd prefer. I personally like to throw it out with a more formal launch with something being "perfect", so I suspend it until getting more time to go over things, and striving to get it right the way out as soon as I can.

Is a .exe non-admin version of the miner possible?
Not quite get your question ...
