Have I said this already?

Satoshi originally thought mining and nodes would be in one place. Your computer.

We now have nodes and mining software. They don't have to be in the same place.

Q. Should the coinbase for SPR be split 50/50 with nodes (sevicenodes) and miners to give recognition to the importance of both miners and a decentralised node network?

It's an interesting question, i'v thought about it myself.

Yes, is 'my' answer.

Nodes will be providing all of Spreadcoin's use/features and prices rises in the future. This is my logic, the thing is using this logic why not pay node hosts 60/40 or 70/30 lol. I'd be more than happy to see 50/50, but would be interesting to see what more people think?

Edit: I'll work on a spreadsheet incorporating 50% coinbase share.

Paying 10000 per spr now is stupid.

LOL

Did you miss what happened inbetween?

The price dropped below 7700, briefly. How do i know this? I had buy orders all the way down to 0.00004. The lowest buy order was 7700 Cheesy.

I hope the guy i said that to took my advise. He'd be laughing now, like me Tongue

Edit: The low infact was 7200 sats.

Whats with the flag? lol

Price Analysis And Projected Income From ServiceNodes

Image #1 - Today's chart Showing highs of 0.00020000
Huge volume over the past two months.

Image #2 - Spreadcoin hit new all time highs today since the takeover by georgem and the team.
A big congratulations to gerogem is in order!

Image #3 - Why I think spreadcoin's  price will go nuts
We are seeing more volatility and high volume. Servicenodes aren't even out in testnet and we see a marketcap of $400,000 or 0.00020000 sats. IMO a successful test and release of Servicenodes could bring a marketcap of around $1,300,000 - $1,800,000 or 0.0005 - 0.0007 (because of low liquidity). Servicenodes seem to be within reach and i think people know it... People know this could be huge.

Image #4 - Potential income from servicenodes is too good to ignore
We reached $0.085 per SPR today, which we can see at this price how much can be made from owning 10 Servicenodes

Image #5 - Lets adjust it for my prediction upon release of SN's
With an SPR price of $0.40 or $1,850,000 marketcap

Image #6 - Speculation on the price of Spreadcoin once PoBN is released
With an SPR price of $2.00

How many SPR coins are needed to run a service node?

0 SPR because ServiceNodes have been talked about for far too long and nothing has been done about it even when the previous Developer was babbling on about it.

If you've been closely following just since the past 5 pages, you'd realize that there is a ton of developmental action. And you'd be able to answer his question- the amount of SPR coins required will be variable. You can find additional details on this in Georgem's announcement: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1045373.msg13481105#msg13481105

Ok, thanks Gladimor!

BLITZ will require a minimum of 30k coins to run a BlitzNode, so I wasn't sure if there was a minimum with SpreadCoin.

I have 5k SPR so I hope I'll be competitive.

You should be able to host a good few nodes with 5k!

Being able to read and interpret the data of multiple chains in one client is the first step towards being able to bridge them. Service nodes can potentially be bridging points between chains ie send one coin, receive another.

Exciting stuff

When you say "being able to bridge them", isn't that what "Ripple/xrp" will do?  And MS is adding a Ripple validator node to Azure.

Isn't Ripple/XRP semi centralized?

Edit:

Quote
I think this is pretty accurate about Ripple. They are more centralized because of all the regulations they are complying with in order to combat anti money laundering and other know your customer type of compliance. Also, if you look at their advisory board it is composed of many in previous government positions and this will contribute to their centralized aspect of work. Big companies that play by Wall Street rules and are in bed with government to some extent are also within some of the investors of this new institutional digital currency. But even with this Ripple will bring much benefit to average consumers as well and not just the big players.

http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/40448/is-ripple-centralized-or-decentralized

So yeh, its centralized.

SPR could potentially do what ripple does without regulation or oversight.

Ok so i just knocked this up.

I changed the coin base allocation from 40% back to 30% (As it won't be needed)

I set out to completely go over the reward/cost of the whole operation...

Here's what i found (Shocked)

My guess is that as nodes increase, the price will increase and so running a ServiceNode should, in theory, always be profitable?

That's what I said!

So it is! I think i needed to show myself for it to sink in :p

The first SN's to be accepted will be absolutely raking it in  Cool
908  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: January 09, 2016, 06:35:21 PM
-Changed reward from 30% to 40%

Therefor i propose lowering the factor of 2880

There is another source of income that we have to consider (but that will not be part of first version).

We can imagine that there will be services that people are willing to pay a small amount of SPR for.

For example an Alert-Service of some kind.

People might want to receive notification when there is movement in some address,
or when a blockchain hasn't updated for X amount of time, etc...

Pay 0.1 SPR (or something) and the servicenode network notifies you when something that interests you happens.

This additional income goes then to miners (and ergo servicenodes).

Yep, those 30-40% will be taken from reward + fees.

Yes that's something to consider for the future.

I was referring more to the very start (first 2 months).

Thinking more, The first 2 months will only see SN's in the hundreds, so it should be relatively profitable to host a node, and once the network is established with over 1600 nodes the market cap of spr will be through the roof anyway...

I will make a new spreadsheet showing an ascending amount of nodes
909  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: January 09, 2016, 06:05:36 PM

One of the community members has been playing about with the spreadsheet. Interesting changes made, especially with spr@$2

Yes, i made some small changes

Added

-Coin supply
-Market cap
-Changed reward from 30% to 40%
-Changed amount of nodes from 166 to 1600 Shocked

Assuming the coin supply stayed the same it will take the price of SPR to be $0.30 or a market cap of $1,400,000 for hosting a node to be profitable (Which btw would be completely reasonable). The problem is the cost of 10 nodes say would be around $150 a month and the net profit would only be $50.
I think this will discourage big players from joining in the competitive SN market and leave only hardcore spreadcoiners to host nodes at a loss or barely break even.

Therefor i propose lowering the factor of 2880 (Is it 2880 i can't remember?) to allow a smaller amount of nodes in the market place at the beginning. Instead of 1600, maybe 1200 or 1300? This would greatly help SN operators make a profit in the early to mid term stages of the network growth. Also i think we would have more healthy nodes on the network as a result of profit being higher.

These are my suggestions for the first version of testnet!

Some context to the block chain data, for those who think this is going to be about identifying people (which is 100% not the case)

https://lists.linuxfoundation.org/pipermail/bitcoin-dev/2015-August/010620.html

You know, basically what a dns-seeder does: return a set of healthy full node IPs.
Maybe that's something the decentralized explorer could do too.

Amazing! Real services for people to actually use!

I can't wait to test all of this georgem, super exciting.

I was reading through the old testnet forum on spreadcointalk for nostalgia, i forgot how involved everyone was, you, stone, wolf0 and others Smiley

I think i'm safe to say we could write a short novel about spr by the time SN's hit the market.

Edit:

Just thinking about how many times i have searched through pages and pages of forum posts to find good fresh new seeds.

So right away, i would have use for it. Brilliant

It's nice to see the price at a more rational level!

Can we please hype what is hype-able? Like ServiceNodes, and not azure?
That's the real big news, which will change SPR for ever.

azure is just a pipe dream atm.

Hey Stonehedge, did you take a look at how your bitcoin node preformed?
914  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: January 03, 2016, 04:09:44 PM

Happy 7th birthday to bitcoin!

I wonder where crypto will be in another 7 years?

I want to buy spreadcoin, so what should I bid the per coin price

Buy all the SPR under 10k ; it's not cheap, it's free.

Quick analysis,

The price of spr was around 2-3000 SATs for ages.
Spr's price shot up on the news of an 'Update', now the update has been pushed back we see a more rational price of between 7000-9000sats. Paying 10000 per spr now is stupid.

10000 on the news of the update or testnet realese, yes. Now, no.

I'd buy 25% of spr now and the other 75%, place buys all the way down to 4000 SATs.

Speculators are going to dump in the coming days because the SN testnet isn't going to be live.

I'd even have a cheeky bet on the price flashing down to 3500 maybe. You'll have to be quick tho, there will be a lot of demand at those prices....
917  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: January 02, 2016, 01:49:24 PM
But for this I need to finish some necessary features first

ETA for first testnet downloads?

I hope end of next week.

As for the progress update with screenshots, will we see that today?
918  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: January 01, 2016, 11:36:10 PM
hey guys,

yesterday's party did pretty much get out of control.
I can work better today. Smiley

Stay tuned for update later...

Hello georgem, i'v been wondering what sort of update your going to be releasing?
Will it be testnet for your new SN network?
919  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: December 28, 2015, 01:47:58 AM
Its been a while, how's my old friend SPR doing?

The movements in the market caught my eye!

I see georgem is going to release the SN network sometime soon? Very interesting.

Are there any bounty's to be had? I'v not much SPR and would like to edge my way back in Smiley
920  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: August 05, 2015, 07:34:23 AM
Surely we are due another update?

Last I heard, georgem was making a blockex? I'm sure all his time is going to be spent doing that until he starts on coding SN's.

If work on SN has started, what's the current progress?

Where is the core update upto?

It'd be nice so see weekly updates, with information coming directly from the devs.
