9181  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is GAMBLING? on: November 26, 2016, 05:18:47 AM
Gambling does in fact come from the word 'game' but it doesn't mean something like a light, easy game without much things to be in risk, so I would define gambling as a game activity involving risks and causing dependence. However, the word 'game' is too wide to be in the definition, because for someone life can be considered as a game, and so living is gambling as well.
Really? I just learn that from you, how about the elections, how do you call that type of gambling? Is it a game still?
I don't think it's all about the game, it's basically more on the money which is to win or to lose.
Hes taking up these thing for serious Smiley Game could be define on many ways and we are talking about gambling here which is trully a game which do put risking on your money to earn money and thats whats all about.Theres no need to elaborate more on to those things that arent needed after all. If you risk money on a particular thing then its indeed a gambling.
9182  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling crying thread on: November 26, 2016, 04:05:10 AM
The last time I bet in sports betting, it was a parlay, I got the tip, but well, I bet at it the wrong way, but I thought I had clicked the right bet that was broadcast in the tipster thread.  So I update myself by reading that thread about the result, and it was a win, then i was so excited to browse my account only to find that i did not win LOL.  I clicked the wrong bet  Cry  I should have won around 0.1xx that time but well..  Sometimes the noob in me kicks in so it was only me to blame.
Sad to hear about your loss 0.1xx is already a big amount for me and for other people. Be sure next time to click and placed the right bet on a particular team so that it wont happen again on the next time you play on sports.Theres nobody to blame but on yourself only.Actually i made the same mistake too but only on small bet amount.
9183  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you believe that win in gambling is depending on your luck ? on: November 26, 2016, 03:34:16 AM
I don't know if it's luck or fate or the stars align but we all go through phases when one seems stoppable, entering a zone like in many sports where you can do no wrong. I think this also applies to gambling, sometimes you are just so focused and calling all shots and making all the right decisions that you think you are god. That's when you lose all your money haha!

Gambling is for entertainment purposes only and it's awesome at that, but if you want to make it something else you are gonna cry. Bet what you can afford to lose and have some fun.
but to me gambling is not for entertainment purpose, to me gambling is for making money only, as to me there is no entertainment in gambling if no money is involve there, and you can enjoy gambling in one case and that is that if you are making money in gambling and if you are losing money then you cannot enjoy gambling.
maybe we have different opinion about gambling because for me also gambling is for entertainment only and just to have some fun activity. im not such a high profile gambler im just an ordinary person who just like to have fun when stressed in work. my wife and i currently gambling in our house and were having such a good bonding with that.
Doing gambling isnt bad after all as long you didnt compromise your money on doing it. Its a very rare situation on where you do both gambling together with your wife.I hope i could do the same thing too especially on vacant times. Winning on gambling does really rely on luck in able for you to win.
9184  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin be used for Good? on: November 26, 2016, 03:05:11 AM
You can give Bitcoin to homeless people now.
It looks like even they started using it.:-)
Look at below
https://imgur.com/gallery/Y2eRs
I wouldn't use "they" as that is just one guy and he's not a representative of all the homeless people in the world. Look at the sign, it's not the original sign that he's using. Someone must've put it there to put the photo on the internet and get some attention. Probably put it there just for the sake of fun. Personally, I haven't seen a homeless person have a phone, let alone a smartphone. They don't have the money to buy one and even if someone gives them a phone, they don't know how to use it and they don't have a place to charge it. It would just be a waste.
Most homeless people actually do have a phone and they also have access to the internet occasionally.
I know this because I've lived in Brussels for quite some time and talked to a lot of homeless people there, I know it's just one city and it may not be like this everywhere, but a phone is not that expensive, even a mid-tier smartphone.
But that is a first world country, in third world countries homeless people have problems to even get enough food for their survival, so it is very likely that in the third world homeless people don't have phones.
It depends on the economic state of a particular country.I could say that there are really places which most poor people dont have really mobile phones on which they cant even afford to buy one.Instead of bothering themselves on buying a phone they would rather choose to buy food and clothing thats why its really a big factor which really stops bitcoin on spreading its benefits.
9185  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Zcash 10$ +/- on: November 24, 2016, 04:26:12 PM
everybody tell about price near 10$ but now everything is fine. after downtrend zec went up. and dont forget that now it is a btc bullrun.

It is possible that the ZEC has already reached the bottom. So it might hover around the current level for some time.
Its just a fake out for me when i saw on the recent price of ZEC just like what happen when it was just 0.2 before, it raises up a little bit and some people already said that time this is the beginning price increase of zec but those hope do fail because it really even dumped even more and now the lowest price is 0.02 and not starting to cling up but i still dont believe on this coin.
9186  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks gonna do what banks gonna do.... on: November 24, 2016, 03:29:49 PM
I just took a small look at this investment.
It looks like one of these stocks is traded for about 10$ more than the actual bitcoin price.
Why would anybody pay more for a bitcoin in form of a stock than for a real one?

Trust, security, influence, ignorance.  Well probably one of those.  Remember not all people that buying bitcoin are actually researching bitcoin and place where he can buy bitcoin cheaper.   Most of the people are often bought stuff that captures their interest the moment a certain stuff is introduced to them.
Thats the nature of people if they saw a certain thing which caught their interest then for sure he/she would engage in to it even without any proper or enough knowledge into bitcoin but i could say its still a good idea.
9187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Best Altcoin to invest in for 2016 and WHY on: November 24, 2016, 02:17:05 PM
These threads are useless. Newbies beware.

Bagholders promoting whatever they got suckered into buying and scammy coins advertising.

Winning comment
Seconded..Most people  will surely promote a coin and most of them are bagholders of it Smiley Newbies should really be aware included still on those veteran members because if you believe on those coins which is somehow dont have potential then you will surely lose up money.
9188  Economy / Economics / Re: Imposing tax on bitcoin on: November 24, 2016, 12:33:49 PM
What if the Internal Revenue service of the US decided to tax bitcoin transactions, what would be the possible effects on its price and the bitcoin community. Will the other governments follow?
I cant think of any way on imposing tax on bitcoin hence they cant go deep into the blockchain and get taxes on each transactions.Thats why its an impossible thing for government to control or breach it but the thing comes to my mind is the possibilities that they could impose tax from merchants who uses bitcoin on payments and any other businesses related to it.

So assuming someone is actually interested, you dont expect payment til job is complete right? I cant see anyone paying up front if a job takes 25 days to see results
In this case escrow would be the best option to use because 25 days is long already for potential buyers to wait the results and as you said no one would really pay upfront if the results are late. Theres no guarantee in the side of the buyer.
9192  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can other cryptocurrency ovetake bitcoin inthe future? on: November 22, 2016, 05:22:51 PM
Yes, other cryptocurrency can overtake bitcoin in the future. Even though bitcoin is one of the first crypto-currency that ever released then it doesn't mean that bitcoin will be the king forever. Having people choice is always depend on the coin's features and stability. If one of the crypto-currency will have a lot of better features than bitcoin and also stable then it will be a threat for bitcoin because that coin in the future can beat and easily replaced bitcoin.
I think it can be happen in the future because the circulation of bitcoin and numbers of bitcoin will gradually hard to get more supply or someday we will mine fewer rewards from blocks but it takes a long time before it happen so for me it is better to stay in bitcoin and use it while bitcoin has a good value and more stores right now are accepting bitcoin and more adoption will come so bitcoin will live long.. enjoy bitcoin while it is alive maybe year 2055 we will see that bitcoin will gradually die and some crypto will change position of bitcoin..

You cant really set a time on which bitcoin would die because you cant able to predict future but for now bitcoin is the leading and  father of all cryptos and the adoption is really rising and being  accepted gradually on any country which mean it has the potential to grow even more.Replacing it by another altcoin might be possible  but  it would really be hard for the other  altcoin devs to surpass bitcoin.
9193  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to win gambling with no lose? on: November 22, 2016, 05:08:17 PM
If you ask me on how to win  gambling  without  lose? Then you must not play gambling at all and thats the thing you would not suffer any losses because in gambling lose is just a normal thing and if you dont want to lose then dont  bother to play. Playing gambling without lose is just like a dream because it wont happen in real world if  thats the case there would be no gambling site or online/offline casinos.
Exactly winning gambling without losing it just a dream, Don't expect this in the real world. Your dream will not come true forever. So the only choice is to play gambling with faucets or else don't play gambling. Because in gambling losing money is common, that is why all casinos are alive. If we win our bets without loss means all casino's will shut down.
It will surely shut down all casinos if that method would work and  if that circumstance will happen then no gambling sites at all and most gamblers are rich by now. Why do OP keep questioning about this stuff? hence it could be answered already by using commonsense or hes just  asking without thinking? Wink
9194  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is GAMBLING? on: November 22, 2016, 04:58:07 PM
I want ask mostly people are saying in Gambling we loss everything, but they are still playing gambling.
WHY?
Then people saying that it is Game and fun so we are playing.
I want ask you, Is it Game so you are playing, otherwise what is Gambling?
1. GAME
2. INVESTMENT
3. BUSINESS

Gambling is a game, but there is something that makes gambling is a little bit more than just a game. And that is money who makes gambling is more than just a game. Gambling is when you place a bet of money in a game to get more money.

the game is something the ordinary things we know and certainly everyone has also been doing something of a game. and gambling is a descendant of it all but it is indeed as you say that gambling can give us an advantage or make us rich. It's all just can be obtained by those who did have a great level of thinking is absolutely, without it all of you just become a dairy cow for the owners of gambling

I agree with your last word, and We are just like a cow. Yes, the gambling is nothing but deposit your Bitcoins to casino owners account. If you are lucky you will get back your investment, but it's 50 -50 chance. According to me also the gambling is just an online game. But we are treating gambling for the wrong method that's it.
Gambling game is either on offline or online.I could somehow agree on your statements that gambling site owners are  just milking money to their players which is partially true in the essence that most of  gamblers do really lose in the  long run which means its a sure profits for its owners.Back to the topic gambling is a game if you want to quit then better to switch into investments.
9195  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: zcash soon 0.2 btc! on: November 22, 2016, 04:47:25 PM
i think it will be a great pump of zcash in december, after a slow start and low price near 0.05-0.07btc. wait and then make money)

That will only happen after the big whales have accumulated enough. It might not be ready in December.
it will be more and more coins every day. I told about december because the date of slow start ending is the nearest date of something could happen. Then i will not see really big causes for pump. except whales accumulating, of cours. But for more strong pump they nedd some information activity and news, i think.

There would be no news hence  whales do appear on random ways  and the  price increase  will surely be visible for all  and that means the whales  have just bought  zcash  but i think it wont happen on this upcoming december but well who knows on what will happen on zcash, price drops drastically since on the beggining.

9197  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: "Everyone already knows about bitcoin" no.. no they do not.. on: November 22, 2016, 04:31:22 PM
Every time I go to the bank I like to ask them if they have heard of BTC, most of the time the answer is no.
I do ask a lot of people about BTC.. a restaurant near me.. near ish use to accept it as well, I asked to pay with it, they said it no longer exists.. .... ...

Most people I find still have zero idea what BTC is unless they are friends with the likes of us.. I don't think we are even in early adoption stage.. we are in "the chasm" .. it would appear we are going to survive though... appear anyways..

I dunno just something I have taken note of.

Pretty much everyone that has heard of it assumes it's worth like 5 cents and shits themselves when I say it's $1k (Cad) .. we are in very interesting times with BTC.
So this means the adoption or awareness of bitcoin on your place is less compared on other countries or places on which they really differ. Some countries have high adoption of bitcoin on which most people or majority on the community do already  knew bitcoin which is a good indication of popularity of bitcoin, same as your i do always ask people on any random places and i got the same answer which is "NO"
9198  Other / Off-topic / Re: How kids can "earn" Bitcoin ? on: November 22, 2016, 03:56:57 PM
Offer them to work for Bitcoin. Like mow lawns, wash cars, or sell lemonade, you know the usual kid businesses. Then just have them trade the money they get to Bitcoins if they get paid in fiat currency. If they would be working for you, pay them with Bitcoins. Or they can do online work like captcha typing, which a child can do.
Please only do that if the kid knows how to use bitcoin. Otherwise, they will think that you just scammed them and sent them something that they don't even understand. You just gave them something that isn't worth anything to them. I don't agree with captcha typing as it is so boring and doesn't pay that much. An hour of baby sitting will be much more profitable than a day of captcha typing.

Agree with these, letting them to work on captcha typing is useless and those kids will surely walk out even on 100 captchas only and you are  right, profits or earnings in catpchas are too small and doesnt worth for their effort. Kids do have knowledge on bitcoin will usually last on this field but those kids dont have any idea will surely ignore it.
9199  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: advantages of bitcoin on: November 22, 2016, 03:00:16 PM
My favorite advantage that we can get from bitcoin is the fact that no one cares about the transactions that you're doing. When you earn thousands of dollars through bitcoin, no one would go to your house and ask the reason why there's a sudden change with the amount of your income. No one would put tax on you. There's no deduction with what you're receiving. Yes, anyone can see your whole transaction history but that's it.

Very true. That is why illegal transactions are being made it here. There is no questions if you dont go to the limits that a website wallet provided. Just send minimum amounts until all are paid and no one would care.
Thats really the advantage of bitcoin on which no one could impose tax on you and you are right no matter how big money or bitcoins do you have still dont matter because you have the full control of it and no one could able to get it from you.No one would really care regarding on your transactions or on balance of your wallet as long you put security on your  wallet no one could steal it.
9200  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is bitcoin being used for illegal activities on: November 22, 2016, 01:23:33 PM
i think there are some cases with a clear evidence. also people want to jail or were prosecuted that were using bitcoin. bitcoin itself might be small but you can expect a high percentage of illegal activities among bitcoin users.

Most of those who were jailed, got the jail terms not for bitcoin usage, but for helping people to buy drugs using BTC or for abetting money laundering. However, in rare cases, BItcoin users faced prosecution just for using Bitcoin. A well known example is that of Burt Wagner. His funds and laptops were seized, and although in the end he was acquitted, he lost all his life savings. More details can be found in this thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=934268.0
true and i would like to point out that the question op ask here is: is bitcoin used for illegal activities and not if using bitcoin is an illegal activity. so the rare cases where you got in trouble just using bitcoin are the ones to worry, but i am fine with the other ones.
Well, I'll answer that for you, it is certainly use for illegal activities but not mainly for illegal activities. I still believe that the major portion in the circulation are use for legitimate activities like trading and our money making activity.
I think also that most of the bitcoin users used the bitcoin in legitimate transaction because bitcoin has a great services that everybody can be benefited that is why more users using it legally to maintain the bitcoin existence.
You could definitely say that because you are seeing only the surface transactions which are legitimate but if you tend to dig up on  darknet you could really say that lots of  transactions is happening there and most  of transactions are  illegal which is normal for bitcoin to be used.
