https://finance.yahoo.com/news/bitcoin-trades-past-36-000-062931832.html"A brief window of at least eight days opened on Thursday for the SEC to “theoretically issue approval orders,” according to a note by Bloomberg Intelligence analysts James Seyffart and Eric Balchunas. “Even if approvals don’t arrive this month, we still believe there’s a 90% chance of approval by Jan. 10,” they wrote. The optimism of the potential approval by the regulator, after more than a decade of deliberation, has bolstered the token more than 120% this year and Caroline Mauron, co-founder of digital-asset derivatives liquidity provider Orbit Markets, sees a “sustained interest in bets on a further Bitcoin rally.” In comparison, global stocks have risen a modest 10% over the same period." What exactly do these qualified experts do? Giving them suggestions on how to make the laws more strict or help them recover locked crypto assets? As far as I can tell, there doesn't seem to be a concise definition of this position. If it is related to their legal case, can't they just hire more lawyers/prosecutors and ask them to learn about crypto?
The article also mentioned competition and inconsistency in how the judge interprets the laws. Makes me wonder who competes with SEC on hiring them.
In Russian this is called an “unplowed field”. This is what they say when there is a lot of work and there are constantly not enough workers. Of course, the SEC can hire specialists, but they need the best experts, because crypto companies have already learned to resist the SEC and win cases against them. To punish all violators of the law, the SEC does not have enough time and resources even with an increase in staff.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5435886.msg61615061#msg61615061"However, I believe that a limit will put all these to end. All these incorrect uses of Bitcoin, all govern and bank extortions, all the abuses of crypto exchanges. And this limit will be reached when enough people will suffer from their greed, from their naïveté, from their stupidity. When enough of them will have criminal records and when enough of them will have to serve jail time. Only a drastic suffering will be able to open people's eyes. And, when this will happen, bitcoiners will finally stop using exchanges. They will stop holding in bank accounts their fiat incomes obtained from crypto activities. Some will even avoid using fiat money. If all these will happen, then individuals will finally start using Bitcoin the way Satoshi created it: for their own benefit, for rendering governs and banks as irrelevant, for eliminating any middle man, for anonymizing their financial deals, for being their own bankers, for owning their private keys instead of allowing exchanges having them."(С) How does administrative forfeiture from a non-custodial wallet work?
|
|
|
(...)As OP said, surely it is not a self-custodial wallet. You did not own the keys, they can block and censor or freeze transactions. The term seems to strongly suggest they own the wallet, not the user. So it should not be categorized as a self-custodial wallet.
Although I'm not sure if it's necessary or not, I think it will be a product to make the Binance service more convenient. But if you think that competing with metamask, trustwallet,... or many other defi wallets, I agree that this is meaningless when your keys do not belong to you. And I'm not sure if it requires KYC to use, because Binance requires users to KYC, if this is true then it's definitely not necessary for me. To do this, you need to have a verified account on the Binance exchange. Now there is a big substitution of concepts everywhere. Even in my country there are many laws on digital assets, but this has nothing to do with cryptocurrencies and decentralization. These digital assets are traded on stock exchanges at the same rates as stocks. Now СZ offer DEFI WEB 3 with a custodial wallet. Cryptocurrencies are designed to give people freedom and not take it away.

Etf news is all over the place yet there is no single bitcoin spot etf is approved by the sec.
In my opinion the adoption of bitcoin in the etf wrap is good to push even more adopter and people who curious about the crypto but it seems the sec won't approve it until the final deadline 😭
And other news is that the vanguard dont want join the bitcoin etf if the vanguard join i think there will be something in sec
All the large speculators who bought their bitcoins and are waiting for the approval of the spot ETF are already rubbing their hands with the expected profit. The most ideal time for this is the period before the halving and if a manipulator is present in this market, then the SEC will approve spot ETFs. In other countries, these funds exist and honestly are not in great demand.

In case you didn't get the news, this guy has been convicted of all 7 counts of fraud by the jury, in a matter of... just a few hours.
How is it that all these rich and powerful people turned a blind eye towards not only the illegal activities he was doing, but also reputation risk that this guy would associate them with?
I guess if enough people do it, it's allowed to go under the rug by the media.
https://www.forbes.com/sites/antoniopequenoiv/2023/11/02/sam-bankman-fried-found-guilty-of-fraud-and-conspiracy/"Bankman-Fried, 31, was found guilty of seven counts of fraud and conspiracy and faces a maximum possible sentence of up to 110 years in prison. Jurors in Manhattan federal court returned the verdict after less than five hours of deliberation." Anyone familiar with the American judicial system, explain how in 5 hours you can reach a verdict in a case where billions of dollars have been lost. ____ SBF gets used to prison https://twitter.com/Cointelegraph/status/1728050840764547505Convicted FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has gone from trading crypto to fish while behind bars and exchanged four packets of mackerel for a haircut before his criminal trial. Bankman-Fried is sharing a cell at the Brooklyn prison with former Honduran President Juan Hernández and a former senior Mexican police officer, sources familiar with the matter told The Wall Street Journal." I heard that the Brooklyn prison is not the best, although he may have a VIP cell.

Thank you @bbc.reporter and @zazad. It's just that they have been prolonging the case and I would really like to see it put to bed. I'm beginning to get tired of the whole drama, but lets see the appeal the defence counsel would come up with. You are asking the right question, but the answer is obvious, because there are people in politics who do not want SBF to go to prison, so the case will drag on. At the end of March 2024, new circumstances may again appear in the case and the trial will be postponed again. SBF rarely makes news anymore, and over time he will be forgotten.
SBF didn't just scam US citizens alone but users from all nooks and crannies of the world who had funds on FTX. The fact that he's a US citizen makes the case more interesting, and everyone wants to see the outcome and I'm hoping they would do the right thing. SBF used money from clients of the FTX exchange to save its partner business and failed very badly. And then we see posts like this https://twitter.com/Travis_Kling/status/1721985690496291064"Today marks the one year anniversary of the worst day of my career and one of the worst days of my life - the day FTX froze withdrawals." If you watch the latest SBF movie, you will know why he wore those shorts

We are no longer a 12 person startup, but we strive to capture the speed and energy of a small, nimble team. This reduction in force affected 12% of Ava Labs, and allows us to reallocate resources to double down on the growth of our firm and the Avalanche ecosystem. Bear markets are difficult to navigate. Ava Labs is fortunate to have significant runway and resources at our disposal, and we will be focusing those resources on advancing the Avalanche ecosystem for years to come. I am deeply thankful to everyone who contributed to Ava Labs and helped champion the Avalanche ecosystem. Let’s not forget the immense progress and impact this team has made across every stretch of our industry."

https://coinedition.com/the-sec-struggles-to-recruit-crypto-experts-report-says/"A U.S. government report found that the SEC faces difficulty hiring crypto experts. Professionals were reportedly reluctant to divest their crypto holdings to work for the agency. The report cited conflict of interest laws and competition from the private sector, hurting expert recruitment. The SEC has ongoing cases against multiple entities in the crypto domain, including Ripple, Binance, and Coinbase. Against a backdrop of a mounting number of cases, the SEC is reportedly finding it challenging to hire experts in the field of crypto. The agency statutes require professionals to sell their crypto assets to work for the agency." ___ Good news

If a campaign has Yes/No as escrow status, it means that the person holding the funds also manages the campaign. This is a conflict of interest, but shouldn't be a big problem if the person doing escrow is trusted. Changelog:
