981  Economy / Economics / Re: The Russian Federation may be about to make a "Corralito" on: July 18, 2022, 06:15:14 AM
By the way, I am Russian by origin, though I was lucky that my parents moved to Ukraine a long time ago. I am fluent in Russian, Ukrainian, acceptable in Polish, and even a little in the Transcarpathian dialect (a very interesting dialect, I worked in Transcarpathia for half a year, and learned it). But I believe that the state language should be a single language that unites the nation. And so it is in most countries!
You're just a narrow-minded fascist. If you had a little brains, you would understand that the bilingualism of Ukraine is not a punishment, but a gift that must be appreciated and protected, and not tried to be eradicated. By the way, in Russia there is one national language (Russian) and 37 languages have the status of a state language.
Before the large-scale military invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army, in Ukraine itself, people in everyday life spoke Russian or Ukrainian, as they wanted, and there was no problem in this. After, when we saw what atrocities the Russians were doing in the occupied territories of Ukraine, I see that many began to switch only to the Ukrainian language. The same is done at the national level by the government.
From the very beginning, Russia invaded Ukraine under the pretext of protecting Russian speakers in Ukraine. True, now in the Donbass the occupiers kill most of all the Russian-speaking civilian population, and the Russians have already forgotten that they came to Ukraine to "liberate" them. In order to exclude such pretexts for attacks in the future, it will be absolutely correct if everything Russian is banned in Ukraine, with the exception of communication in everyday life. This will be a logical response to the perennial planting of the "Russian world" in Ukraine and to the mass crimes that the Russians are now committing in Ukraine.
982  Economy / Economics / Re: is it possible that the bitcoin was created by governments? on: July 17, 2022, 05:40:23 PM
According to conspiracy theory, Is it possible that the bitcoin was created by governments to gain financial strength in the modern world?
Such actions on the part of the state or its government would look absolutely illogical. Why do states give someone weapons against themselves? Create a cryptocurrency, so that if you do not fight it, then have a very strong competitor to your national money? I don't see any point in this. You can assume anything, but not this. Moreover, there is no evidence for such a statement, only someone's assumptions.
983  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: July 16, 2022, 12:44:40 PM
That is, Ukraine, as an honest partner, continues to transit Russian gas to Europe through its territory and takes money from Russian Gazprom for this, and do you think that this is normal in the context of an armed conflict between Russia and Ukraine? Why did Ukraine not impose sanctions on the transit of Russian gas through its territory?

Well, if we adhered to the terrorist concept, like Russia, we would of course blow up / put on service / raise the price for transit. But we are not Russia and not a terrorist state. We will not amplify the problems of the EU. The EU itself must decide to stop buying gas. And the fact that Russia pays is good, it goes into service with the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the further defeat of the invaders - Russian terrorists. So no problem Smiley
In your own terminology, you are trading with terrorists who have attacked and invaded your country. And you have no problem with it. It seems hypocritical to me, or at least strange.

In general, the topic of Russian gas transit through Ukraine looks artificially taboo, especially in the West. It's funny. Grin
Everything here is a little more complicated than it seems at first glance. Pipelines with gas pass through Ukraine further to Europe. Ukraine has already said directly that it can cut off the supply of Russian gas through its territory and thereby fundamentally solve the problem of imposing an embargo on Russian gas. But so far, some European countries are not ready to give up Russian gas so abruptly. The EU is looking for and finding new gas suppliers, while at the same time trying over time not only to reduce its consumption, but also to completely abandon it. This process is already underway and it will be disastrous for Russia.

Ukraine now cannot cut off the flow of gas to Europe, since it is connected with the relevant contracts for the supply to European countries. It is Russia that now spits on all international agreements and obligations. Ukraine, unlike Russia, is a civilized state.
984  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Would you guys invest meme coins now? on: July 16, 2022, 12:20:58 PM
Invest meme coins are like a mystery, sometimes we think they are dead coins but continue to rise and become profitable, but we hold many and look convincing because they often make AMA events with very competent sources but it turns out to be sinking and becoming a scam, and for now I don't invest in meme coins.
Why buy meme coins when we see that they have no useful value, and their sometimes high price is formed only due to temporary hype? I don't see any point in this. The risk here is much greater than when investing in conventional cryptocurrency. Only those who buy them in the initial stage before such a hype make a profit here. But now that these much-touted meme-coins have dropped significantly in price, and many of them are apparently forever, it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to artificially raise their price again.
Besides, why take such a risk if we have useful and potential coins for price growth?
985  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Looking for a crypto that won't depend on BTC anymore on: July 15, 2022, 07:08:51 AM
Nope.

Any crypto-asset using "BTC" as the pair trading, they always follow the main pair they're using for the trading asset. If you want trading without any volatility from crypto-market especially "BTC", you should try "Stable-coin" and playing on staking.

But the margin % profit would be really small. Also, you will fight against inflation from fiat since investment on stable-asset.
It's not about the pair for trading, but about the level of capitalization of each cryptocurrency. Bitcoin affects other cryptocurrencies in terms of price because it now has a capitalization of 42.5 percent. That is, almost half of all investments in this market are invested in bitcoin. If the level of capitalization of bitcoin drops significantly, then it will not have such an impact on other types of cryptocurrencies as it is now. Theoretically and practically it is possible and it is quite probable that someday it can happen.
986  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia's economy is 'imploding' on export decline, economists claim on: July 15, 2022, 06:44:36 AM
I'm curious on how long the West believes they should sanction Russia because the Euro is on the decline and is on par with USD at the moment.

The so called "economists" seem to be ignoring the other half of the sanctions which include hurting the economies of any countries who wish not to do any transactions with Russia. If the west doesn't want cheap oil in efforts to hurt the Russian economy, fine. But perhaps reevaluating how far they wish to tank their economies/currencies would be worthy of consideration.

You need to remember that some of the warmongers have already lost their job. Boris Johnson of England has been kicked out of power. Another hawk, Emmanuel Macron of France lost his parliamentary majority. Mario Draghi of Italy is about to resign. I am wondering who is next. A large part of the European population is not comfortable with the idea of spending tens of billions of USD in the form of military aid to Ukraine, and that too when Russia is making slow and steady advances. That money should be better spent on combating inflation back home.
Indeed, there are certain difficulties in Europe now due to the maximum possible rejection of Russian oil and gas at this stage. But these difficulties are temporary until the suppliers of these energy carriers change and the ways of their delivery are established. But for Russia, these difficulties will only grow with time. Russia will no longer be able to build new pipelines to the other end of the planet because of its growing economic problems. In addition, the countries of Europe, even before the imposition of sanctions against Russia, took a course towards the gradual abandonment of oil, coal and gas in general and their gradual replacement with alternative energy. Therefore, in the long run, Russia will definitely lose.

As for the sanctions themselves, Europe has already understood that if you make concessions to the aggressor, then after a certain time their countries will also be subjected to Russian military strikes. And therefore, it is better to go to temporary difficulties and destroy Russia economically than to constantly be blackmailed by her.
987  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Saves my relatives both of Life, Time and money on: July 14, 2022, 05:48:29 PM
It feels weird to tell someone their story is fake especially if it really happened to a family member. But there seems to be too many illogical things in this one.
I once won a few grands in a physical sportsbook and I was asked to submit my banking information where the money would be routed. They didn't want to give me the cash. I find it hard to believe he was given a suitcase or a bag full of money and shown the exit door. You also mentioned he talked to the police and they helped him apparently. How did they help him, and if he got the help he needed, why did he still need to buy the bitcoins? If attempt were made to kill him, those responsible should/would have been arrested.
I also think that this is most likely a beautiful fantasy. There are many things that do not correspond to our realities of life. Of course, no one will give out the prize won in cash. Especially in a large amount - one million dollars. It is also unrealistic to reverse the transformation of cash into bitcoins. How was it done? In order to buy bitcoin, we must have money on a card or a bank account. Here everyone will have problems, because you need to indicate the sources of origin of this money. In general, not everything is as simple as described by the OP.
The only question is, why did he do it? Just to write a nice post?
988  Economy / Economics / Re: Thoughts on CBDC's and long-term effect on the cryptomarket on: July 12, 2022, 03:52:39 PM
States are developing and issuing their CBDCs, that is, digitized national currencies, primarily because they will be much more efficient than their current non-cash payments. For them, this is the most important thing. CBDCs should not directly conflict with cryptocurrencies. These are completely different financial assets with different functions and tasks. CBDCs are likely to compete with the current private stablecoins, and as such, they may soon enter an unpleasant period of government regulation and partial bans. But we, in order to discuss this topic, first of all need to see their functioning and interaction in practice.
989  Economy / Economics / Re: Solar panels set to be mandatory on all new buildings under EU plan on: July 11, 2022, 04:49:09 AM
Humanity has long needed to pay close attention to alternative energy sources. But those forces that controlled the extraction of oil and gas by all possible methods prevented this. Only the fact that oil and gas remained in the fields for only a few decades allowed us to tackle this long overdue problem.
Of course, it is necessary not only to improve solar panels, but also to constantly look for opportunities to acquire knowledge of the use of other alternative sources of "green" energy. The decision of European countries on the mandatory installation of solar panels on the roofs of new buildings is very timely. It must be taken into account that their profitability and efficiency will constantly increase.
990  Economy / Economics / Re: Sri Lanka Economic Crisis is Getting Worse on: July 10, 2022, 01:58:26 PM
It still surprises me that Sri Lanka is undergoing such terrible events like this one on their country. Then I realized that there really isn't anything that they can do to revive their economy easily given that they only rely on tourism, an opportunity which was cut by the pandemic. They cannot take loans anymore due to the fact that there isn't anything they can pay with. All they need is a bail out and an economic reset, something that doesn't come for free. Kicking the corrupt officials out of the office is a start, and finding for a new government to restart everything is another.
Of course, a country that only hopes to profit from tourism will always be subject to various external influences taking place in the world. The coronavirus pandemic has knocked down almost all countries economically. Perhaps, problems that arose from the war that Russia unleashed by attacking Ukraine in the center of Europe were added here.
I like that the people themselves can forcibly remove their corrupt government. We see that if this was possible in Russia, then such consequences from the current war, which will certainly be there in the near future, might not have happened.
But in any case, Sri Lanka needs to develop its economy, and above all, production, so that profits to the treasury are sustainable. We need to reorient ourselves to the necessary production, this is the basis for everything. The current consumer attitude to life will never give a high level of this life, otherwise this country will always remain poor.
991  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia is taking over Ukraine’s Internet on: July 09, 2022, 11:15:15 AM
I think after all the destruction with the bombing from Russia ....most internet infrastructure are destroyed. The Russian controlled areas will most probably be restored, so people will rather resort back to the infrastructure that was there before the war started.

I will rather use Elon Musk's Starlink for a more secure communication media, but I doubt if people in a war zone... will be able to pay for that.  (the base price for Starlink service is $135 a month)  Roll Eyes
Russia is leading this aggressive war in Ukraine as a gang of murderers, rapists and robbers. Russians steal in Ukraine not only the Internet, but everything of value that comes their way. Everything is taken out of the captured houses, up to the furniture. This is not an army, this is a medieval horde ... Now in the war in the Donbass, there is no other tactic than razing everything to the ground with artillery and aircraft so that no one can resist, after which they take not cities and other settlements, but square kilometers scorched earth. At the same time, the Russian army does not give a damn about the Russian-speaking population of this territory, whom they allegedly came to liberate. Residential buildings are destroyed along with the people living there, and this is considered the norm for them.
The cities of Severodonetsk, Lychichansk, Mariupol and others captured by the Russians are unlikely to be restored by the Russians. In Mariupol, they have already admitted that they are not even able to establish water supply and electricity supply. Soon they will be driven out of the occupied territory and, with the help of the international community, normal recovery will begin.
992  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Russia's Special Op is good for Decentralized Bitcoin on: July 09, 2022, 10:45:10 AM
The idea is basically correct. Any forceful influence of large states on weaker ones negatively affects the established democratic principles, the level of rights and freedoms of citizens, and this, in turn, affects the state of the cryptocurrency market. Therefore, over large states, as well as over all states, there should be international representative bodies that would quickly and effectively resolve all contradictions and conflicts between states.

As the current full-scale military attack by Russia on Ukraine has shown, in our world the system of collective security is extremely ineffective. The UN is unable not only to stop the outbreak of war and curb the aggressor, but also to resolve smaller issues, such as the blockade of Ukrainian seaports by Russia, as a result of which Ukraine cannot supply grain and other products and goods to the world market, which threatens to starve in certain countries.

I just can't figure out the title of this thread. "Why is a Russian sting operation good for decentralized bitcoin?" The war of conquest unleashed by Russia, and not a special operation that has been going on for the fifth month and has led to hundreds of thousands of human victims, cannot have a beneficial effect on bitcoin and the cryptocurrency market as a whole.
993  Economy / Economics / Re: Should we embrace a cashless policy?? on: July 08, 2022, 01:34:39 PM
At this very moment or in our generation I think cashless policy might be good and also not good as well. Because, there are some traditional business that has been arise all over the world now are more on favor at fiat money though, there are some merchants or business are accepting cashless payment like credit card, paypal, and more something like that.

In other words, nowadays, fiat currency still important in any aspects of the business we had in the whole world now. So for me, it is not the right time I think though we are going there in the near future.
In recent decades, our world has been moving very rapidly towards non-cash and digital money. For a certain part of the population, these are very convenient forms of payment. But not for everyone. Some residents of almost all countries will not be able or will not want to part with cash and will rather go for barter transactions than non-cash ones. This is also understood by governments. At the same time, the rapid turnover of cash is important for the economy of each state. Even in China, they urged not to get carried away with completely non-cash money and not to give up cash. And you need to remember that cash is one of the most untraceable. Therefore, we should not quickly go into the trap of governments.
994  Economy / Economics / Re: Russia's economy is 'imploding' on export decline, economists claim on: July 08, 2022, 01:02:32 PM
You are slightly distorting the actual events. Ukraine has successfully resisted a full-scale military invasion of Russia for 125 days. To date, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the following have been destroyed:
- 35,250 Russian soldiers and officers,
- 1567 tanks,
- 3704 armored vehicles,
- 217 aircraft,
- 185 helicopters,
- 778 artillery systems,
- 243 multiple launch rocket systems,
- 102 air defense systems,
- 2589 automotive equipment,
- 636 UAVs,
- 14 ships and boats, etc.
~~~~~
LOL.... BBC has given the figure of around ~4,000 deaths for the Russian Armed Forces and PMC Wagner (DNR/LNR lost another 4,000 men, but these are Ukrainian citizens). On the other hand, more than 30,000 Ukrainian soldiers have been killed so far, and around 15,000 have been taken prisoner. Western media has been telling for a long time that Russia is running out of ammunition and cruise missiles. And now the Ukrainians are complaining that they are being out-shelled and cruise missiles are raining on their cities.
The above figures of Russians killed in Ukraine, which were announced by the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the amount of 35,250 people, are not the total losses of Russia as of June 28. The Armed Forces of Ukraine cites confirmed losses without taking into account the number of wounded.
However, at that time, according to the classified data of the Russian Ministry of Defense and which was cited in the press by the former Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine Avakov, Russia lost much more in manpower, namely: 48,800 people, of which 37,500 were directly Russian military personnel, 9,500 members of a private military company Wagner (now PMC "Liga") and 1800 employees of the Russian Guard. No one counts the dead mobilized residents of the unrecognized DPR and LPR, but there are about 10,000 casualties there. And not counting the wounded. And the advancing army usually does not have a set loss for one killed three wounded. If we consider that in Russia there are approximately 50,000 military dead, then there will be more than 100,000 wounded.
The last days have been especially fruitful for the Armed Forces of Ukraine in enemy technology. The Russians went with large forces to the positions of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, deciding to arrange the Kursk Bulge-2 for the Ukrainians (one of the largest tank battles on the eastern front during the Second World War). The Armed Forces of the Russian Federation tried to break through the defense of the Ukrainians with armor and fire. The paratroopers of the 80th separate air assault brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine distinguished themselves here. In total, in two days of fighting on July 6 and 7, 37 Russian tanks, 22 armored vehicles and 16 artillery systems were destroyed.
Russia is running out of steam in this war. Let's see what happens in a few more months.
995  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Was the coupling of Bitcoin to fiat a mistake? on: July 06, 2022, 01:53:08 PM
The price of bitcoin is measured in fiat and there are simply no other more convenient options. Cryptocurrency can be measured in any way - in gold, in any commodity, for example, horses. Imagine, we would say that one bitcoin is valued, for example, at 56 horses, or 1200 chickens. Would that be convenient? Of course not. We would still evaluate in that dimension what would be convenient for us and what the whole world uses. So don't reinvent the wheel.
996  Economy / Economics / Re: Uganda’s gold discovery: What it could mean for crypto !!! on: July 06, 2022, 01:34:38 PM
Gold has been mined on our planet for many millennia. But it continues to be of high value. Therefore, I do not think that the discovery of gold ore deposits in Uganda can significantly affect its price. All ore will not immediately turn into gold. This is a slow and labor intensive process. Its infusion into the market will be gradual. In addition, in our age of high technology, the cost of goods that are available in every country and are in civilian circulation is growing. It also serves as a guarantee against the depreciation of gold. After all, for every gram of gold there is a commodity that can be bought for it.
In general, this event in Uganda is unlikely to have any impact on prices in the cryptocurrency market.
997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ETH gas fees are low....A great time to get in? on: July 05, 2022, 12:42:32 PM
It seems that the persistent bear market drastically reduced ETH's network congestion. Gas fees have been ranging as low as 17 Gwei to 30 Gwei on average. The native cryptocurrency Ether (ETH) has been declining like crazy in Fiat terms, so it would be a lot cheaper to buy NFTs or do other network operations than before.
Assuming ETH doesn't go any lower in price, would now be a great time to get in? Or should I wait a little longer? Do you think gas fees will soar back up again after the crypto winter settles? Your input will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Smiley
Yes, transaction fees on the ethereum network are currently 21 Gwai. This is quite low, considering that there have been so many complaints about the exorbitant fees on this network in recent years. Now in the midst of crypto winter. The price of bitcoin is $19,543 and ethereum is $1,110. Some predict another drop in the cryptocurrency market by about 10 percent. Whether there will be such a fall or not, no one knows. But at the current rather low price, it makes sense to buy ethereum. Moreover, in August, Buterin promises to complete an almost two-year update of this network. After a successful update, this coin can soar in price up to $10,000 in the next year or two. If there is any doubt about this, then it is better to buy it in parts in order to get some kind of average price result.
998  Economy / Economics / Re: Russian Gas ban - A problem for Europe or suicide for Russia? on: July 05, 2022, 11:37:30 AM
China will neither harm nor help Russia - why? If very soon most of the Trans-Urals will go to China, and so ?! Smiley
China will stand aside, because they are smart. They will wait while others gnaw at each other and finish the remained one. China does not need to be involve into this mess. While others fight, they make their economy stronger. How many articles there are on the forum about financial difficulties, inflation and etc? A lot. How many of them are China related? Guess not many. Did China nominate sanctions against Russia? I think yes, but they are not as serious as other countries did. China is ready to substitute everything that Russia has lost due sanctions. China is ready to make and produce everything in double size for the whole world.
At this point, we can't rule out a Chinese invasion of Taiwan. And that is the main reason why China is taking a sympathetic stance to Russia at this point. The NATO-backed Ukrainian army is getting obliterated in the last few weeks, after putting up stiff resistance till end of April. China is carefully watching the performance of the Ukrainian armed forces and the capability of the weapons and equipment that NATO provided them. A Chinese invasion of Taiwan will happen all of a sudden without any warning, and that will be 100 times bloodier than the ongoing Russo-Ukrainian war.
Are you saying that the Ukrainian army has been destroyed in the last few weeks after putting up stubborn resistance until the end of April? And why did the Armed Forces of Ukraine resist only until the end of April? Until today, for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, they are very professionally and successfully fighting against the many times superior forces of the Russians. The war has been going on for the fifth month, and the occupiers have nothing to brag about. Refusing to capture the whole of Ukraine precisely in connection with stubborn resistance, they concentrated their main forces on the capture of Severodonetsk and Lysychansk, located in the Lugansk region. In this direction, the Russians had about a tenfold superiority in manpower and equipment. The task of the Armed Forces of Ukraine was to delay the offensive and cause maximum damage to the attackers while weapons were coming from the West, which was successfully done. The Russians lost under these cities about 7,000 of their soldiers and many tanks and armored vehicles. As a result, the Ukrainians retreated in an organized manner to the new prepared lines, completely preserving their army.
While the Russian grouping has run out of steam in this area and has actually lost its combat effectiveness, which is why Putin said that after the capture of these cities they can now rest and regroup, the Armed Forces of Ukraine have now launched a counteroffensive in three directions at once. Thanks to the received HIMARS systems, about 20 Russian ammunition depots have been destroyed in recent days, as well as other important targets. In this regard, the Russians will soon have nothing to fight with.
Let me remind you that the losses of Russia in this war today, according to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, are:
- 36,350 soldiers and officers,
- 1594 tanks,
- 3772 armored vehicles,
- 217 aircraft,
- 187 helicopters,
- 806 artillery systems,
- 247 MLRS,
- 105 air defense systems,
- 2634 different vehicles,
- 660 UAVs,
- 15 ships and boats, etc.
999  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Reason why I won't be buying top altcoins in this bear market on: July 04, 2022, 08:50:52 AM
In general, this is so. Each deep and long bear season ended with a significant part of the altcoins leaving the cryptocurrency market forever, and there were also certain changes in the top ten and twenty of the CoinMarketCap table. Apparently, this will be the case this time as well. But the top altcoins that have stood the test of time, I think, should not be afraid. If anyone doubts that we have not yet reached the price bottom, you can still buy potential altcoins in parts. This has always served as a certain guarantee that we will not make major mistakes.
1000  Economy / Economics / Re: Wheat War I is going to be World War III on: July 04, 2022, 08:23:17 AM
More and more countries are being involved into wheat conflict. Now it is Turkey, as Ukraine says Russian ship carrying Ukrainian grain detained by Turkey. This is either fake or propaganda (but the sources, CNBC has a good reputation), or soon relationship between Russia and Turkey will be shaken.
I will put down question of this wheat origin, I am more interested in what will happen to this wheat. Can it be simply held, as I expect this ship to be under arrest or investigation for a long period, or this wheat will be spoiled in the end. When there are short of wheat in the world, loosing supply is a big no or failure.
This is really true information, which in Ukraine is distributed through official channels. According to the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry, Turkish customs detained the cargo ship "Zhibek Zholy" with grain, which was taken out of the Ukrainian port of Berdyansk seized by Russia.
The ship belongs to the Kazakh company KTZ Express Shipping, but since October 2021 it has been chartered by the Russian company Green Line LLC. On June 28, the ship "Zhibek Joli" loaded 7,000 tons of wheat in the occupied Ukrainian Berdyansk, from where it left for the Turkish port of Karasu.
According to Bodnar, Ambassador of Ukraine to Turkey, the fate of the ship will be decided at a meeting of investigators on Monday. He expressed hope that the ship would be arrested. So it won't stay there for long.
Ukraine and Western states have repeatedly accused Russia of stealing Ukrainian grain and blocking Ukrainian ports, which hinders food supplies in the world.
On June 23, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu promised that his country would not accept stolen Ukrainian grain.
