981  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto exchanges have to learn and improve on their security on: October 01, 2023, 06:07:55 PM
As good as the security they can improve or enhance, it's not make they 100% will never get hacked because online website are prone to get hacked.

Huobi isn't the only one exchange get hacked, centralized exchange already get hacked since 2011 [1] and every year there's always an exchange get hacked. So it means, all centralized exchange only waiting their turn to get hacked.

[1] https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5090869.0

I agree with you, online exchange sites will never be safe from hacking attacks because those who operate them are still humans, there have even been several cases where those who hacked the site were former employees. Therefore, it is highly recommended not to store large amounts of assets on crypto exchanges, they are very vulnerable, make the exchange only a place for you to trade but use a personal wallet to store your bitcoin assets.
982  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: October 01, 2023, 05:42:48 PM
My plan is to retire early. Cryptocurrency is I think my gateway to that early retirement as I am trying my best to accumulate as much crypto as possible. If I profit enough, I guess I'll make a business out of it that can produce income to me without a burden job like having multiple rentals or flipping things in the market. It suck to work on a job but it is currently the one that supply me money to buy crypto. I don't plan to live a glamorous life after retirement but I want to have money and asset that can make me survive and live longer without the stress I'm currently having.

If you have plans to open your own business, that means you are not really retiring early, you are just changing the way you make money (from an employee to an entrepreneur), there's no need to rush to get out of the job that's giving you good money right now, you're just feeling bored or fed up, or maybe there's a problem at work that involves you and your friends? if yes then finish it well or go on holiday for a while to clear your mind, surely you will return to work with enthusiasm.

983  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help a newbie! on: September 30, 2023, 11:51:22 PM
I'm new to the forum and so far I'm beginning to understand the structure of the forum but my challenge is that I don't really have enough knowledge on crypto prior to now.

I have done a bit of research on YouTube but the information their is a bit confusing as it's more theoretical and I doubt the once I have seen is updated lately.

I really want to learn the basics in cryptocurrency and would need guidance from expert from this forum.

What I need particular is a verified YouTube channel I can get an updated crash course crypto, books, website and any material or post on this forum that can give me proper guidance as a newbie.

hi OP, I hope you are healthy there, you are from Nigeria, there are quite a lot of active senior members there and I noticed that the local board from Nigeria is quite active in discussing everything related to cryptocurrencies, bitcoin and blockchain technology, you can search read about everything related to cryptocurrencies there (it's much easier to understand things when you're active on your local boards).
984  Local / Topik Lainnya / Re: [Diskusi] Santet = SCAM on: September 29, 2023, 07:30:14 AM

985  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: If you could..... What will it be? on: September 29, 2023, 06:53:05 AM
A lot of crazy experiences has taken place in the crypto space knocking people down financially and it is plausible that nasty things can still occur in the future. But...

What if you could delete an occurrence from happening in the cryoto-world, both past and current events making it that they don't happen or didn't happened. What would it be?

As  for me it is the FTX crash saga which led to many persons losing their funds that could have yield some profits by now. It was one of the saddest period for many in the crypto world.

How about you, what would it be?

I was a victim of the FTX scam (If I could go back in time then I would avoid saving on FTX), I lost around 6 mbtc and it really makes an impression to this day, but I'm not that down because I know it was my mistake (I keep my btc in CEX). Currently I never store my assets in CEX anymore, the risk is really big that I will lose again, especially since the regulations on exchanges in several countries are quite strict, it is much safer to store crypto assets in a personal wallet.

986  Local / Ekonomi, Politik, dan Budaya / Re: Mengapa anak muda millenial kurang menjaga budaya on: September 28, 2023, 11:56:02 PM

987  Economy / Economics / Re: marry rich: marry fiat rich or crypto rich, which is better? on: September 28, 2023, 11:18:32 PM
In life you have to be rich of something, or nobody want to marry to you, and have build a family with you, you would be foreveralone, and the media would constantly mogging you over and over again for being foreveralone to remain you. And your mum would constantly tell you if you don't get married nobody would take care of you when your aged. Nobody would make a tomb for you, and when you died you would go to afterlife with empty stomach and would suffer straving too in the afterlife. That must be a lot of hurt! ouch!

So back to question. which is preferred? Married to fiat rich or crypto rich? Although crypto can be created at the comfort of your basement, also the value would plummet quickly to near zero too. Do you think in your life, you would ever see someone marry to crypto rich? btw recent news about ftx being rejected to sponsor a superstar due to it is unregistered tell me marry crypto rich might be a distance dream. Also there would be only 21m bitcoin existed, only 21m couples would be able to married rich. When there is billions of population, a lot of couples may not marry rich, due to unequal distribution, some of the crypto super rich would married hundreds of thousand more.

I have never agreed that material-based marriage is not a marriage but a transaction, If there is another choice then I will choose to marry someone who is commensurate with me (who loves me for who I am).

However, of the two options above, I would prefer to marry a crypto rich rather than a fiat rich because I already know how big the value of crypto assets is, especially if my future partner has a lot of bitcoins, not satoshis.
988  Economy / Economics / Re: Population: Economic strength or weakness on: September 28, 2023, 05:45:12 PM
...
A close look at this situation shows that many of these overpopulated nations mostly in Africa and Asia are underdeveloped. While these underpopulated nations are economically buoyant. I think the reason for the poverty of these developing nations is not the population but bad governance and the inability to maximize and distribute available resources equally.  We cannot deny the fact that these overpopulated nations are economically important to these developed nations in terms of human resources. And they contribute immensely to the development of these first-world nations in terms of cheap labour.

How do you think these developed nations will fill vacancies in their nations and get cheap labor if the population of these developing nations is reduced?

Population greatly influences a country's economy, with the increasing development of technology, developed and developing countries that have a population shortage do not need to worry about labor, they can ask for productive labor from other countries, and also use technology. Apart from the two above, developed and developing countries can also employ women to fill the shortage of slots in each employment sector.

989  Economy / Economics / Re: Is the government can really make a way to end poverty or it depends on us? on: September 28, 2023, 12:07:18 PM
In my country i observed so many people doing rally and blame the government why the basic needs price rise and the salary is still very low and not enough for daily expenses, is this the effect of the Ukraine and russia war that makes the gas or crude oil so high at price and they pass the gas expenses to the product and it ends to very high price of the basic needs that make us very poor, I see government has a move to resolve the problem but many people are still blaming the government.

the government with all kinds of policies they can help people get out of poverty a little, they can accept foreign investment to get more job vacancies, compensate young people who haven't found work or provide free access to food and health for people who really are in that poverty line. in my country our government is quite active in maintaining the stability of the country's economy, many and the effects of the war between russia vs ukraine are no longer so pronounced, currently the big problem in our country is the unemployment rate which is still high and the government must help citizens get that.
990  Economy / Economics / Re: Is academic pursues enough to get incomes? on: September 27, 2023, 10:33:06 PM
I really want know if getting more degrees can make life financially better because I come from a country where their are no job and I have seen people that the only thing they can do in life is to read books, getting more degrees attaining all these degrees yet no still go job for them with good pay. Do think people who read in a region with slim job opportunities are doing the right thing?

Most people who go for more degrees believe they can get better job at the end of the day. People that only go for more degrees in a stare with high unemployment rate are they doing right thing by putting all their focus on academic because this is the only thing they can do best.

In fact, not everyone who is highly educated manages to get a good job, there are also many who are unemployed because they are not lucky, there are also people who return to take higher education to be able to get a decent position in the company where they work. However, currently large companies prioritize people who have higher education working in their companies, it has become a requirement for them to filter out workers who are more competent than those who have no education at all.
991  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Could the rise and popularity of cryptocurrencies be a vivid example? on: September 27, 2023, 10:13:36 PM
__SNIP__

OP I do agree that your account is brand new, still I think you have a clear idea about the basics of Bitcoin, So moving forwards the people who believe in Bitcoin that it will protect their actual value are not just because of the Significant role of the Supply as to fight against the inflation there is need of some other factors Bitcoin acquiring as well such as Future potential, growing market, Demand and Supply & Decentralization on some level the global first asset recognization (In context of the most trusted and No 1 Cryptocurrency).

Bitcoin Does provide protection against Inflation, becasue of the gains on the investment and price appreciation by the market movement. Bitcoin supports both narratives as Inflationary properties and IDflationary it really depends how you check it out.

When the Covid 19 pandemic occurred several years ago, the price of Bitcoin really fell, but now the price has gone up again (imagine if you bought some Bitcoin at that time then now the value of your money has increased sharply), The limited number of bitcoins really makes it even more attractive for investors to protect their wealth from fiat currency inflation and not only that, the decentralized nature of bitcoin also makes investors confident that buying bitcoin will never make them lose money. by increasing demand for bitcoin (while the amount remains constant) then we will definitely see bitcoin make another new ATH.

993  Other / Off-topic / Re: Google is 25 Today - What has been Your Experience ! on: September 27, 2023, 03:28:19 PM
The Giant search Engine Google is Marking its 25 years of being in service and providing services to the entire world. As the popular saying goes 'Google is Your Friend'.

*Has Google been your friend?

*How long have you been using Google?

*Do you prefer other search engines than Google lately and can you tell why? (If any)

*Is there any improvement would you like to see in Google that you think are not included assuming it is possible?

Let's Talk...

Happy birthday to Google, I have been using the Google search engine for a long time, I really like its interface and also the accuracy when we search for something from there, apart from that the other products that Google releases (YouTube, Gmail and others) are also very interesting, well they make me addicted but for I prefer to use Microsoft Edge for online reading, all news from around the world is summarized on the front page of Edge.
994  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Newbies identify with your local board on: September 26, 2023, 09:54:57 PM
...

Although, there are some countries that Theymos hasn't grant their request to give them their own local board, that shouldn't discourage you from posting there, because it is the number of people in a local board and how active that sub board is that will help to speed up the provision of your own local board. On the forum home page, if you scroll down, after alternative cryptocurrency, you will see where the local board is, scroll down to see if your country is also written there and if not, it means that your country hasn't been given a local board yet but you can also look for your country here Other languages.
Bitcointalk is open for everyone in the world, so you should also enjoy posting in your local board here.

I'm sure there are many members here who are not active on their local boards, I don't know why they do that. There are many advantages to actively discussing on local boards, we can share experiences and share problems regarding the world of crypto or other things with compatriots or maybe we will be able to create projects in the future with friends on our local boards, continue to maintain your relationships with your fellow countrymen in this forum, you won't lose anything.
995  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The madness of gambling addicts. on: September 26, 2023, 09:07:02 PM

There are gamblers who gamble with common sense they are not addicted to the gambling and therefore they are not trouble some for the families and friends.

It is only those gamblers who are addicted , become annoying for their families, use excessive money and even their mood and their way of life becomes extremely disturbed cause of the gambling addiction.

I agree with your opinion, that a gambler will not become an addict if he is aware of all the risks when playing, if he plays too much, puts money in the hope of winning, of course that is impossible, on the contrary he will lose. all the money will be lost. And that will cause problems in his family and the problem in him is that he will regret having done that without thinking about other people.

If all heavy gamblers were aware of the excessive activities they were doing, there would be no such thing as a gambling addict. there will be no future for a gambling addict if they continue to follow their greedy desires and have no intention of changing it, in my country online gambling addiction is a real concern for the government, there are many parties who are at a loss, apart from that the average gambling addict will be involved in bad loans, their families will continue to be victims.
996  Economy / Economics / Re: Early Retirement [Pros and Cons] on: September 25, 2023, 11:42:37 PM
Retiring at the age of 50 or 55 is not too good because at that time the person is still strong to carry out activities. Though every country has their service years and age to be retiring workers. My country if you work in the Civil Service for 60 year of age as of the person age, then the person will be retired from active service but if the person service is still needed then, the institution would still hire him to carry out some specific service until the person himself says, he could not again then he would remove from the institution and replaced by another person.

Even though I think your opinion is a little off base (because we are discussing early retirement here) I am also interested in discussing this.

I think it is vulnerable to manipulation (re-employing people who have retired will only make young workers lose opportunities). Our country has its own rules regarding civil servants who retire, they are no longer given work, but usually before retiring they will be directed to look for side income in preparation for the moment when their retirement time arrives.

997  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What to do with spam and scam tokens on my wallet? on: September 25, 2023, 11:24:26 PM
Hi, please tell me, I have information that my wallet (BNB Smart Chain) has 9 tokens stored on it. Of them 2 tokens are normal: BNB and LUNA, the other tokens were sent to me by scammers. And now they are stored on my wallet. How can I get rid of them? How can I stop such "left" tokens from being sent to me? What do you do with such tokens? I tried to see these tokens through PancakeSwap and Trust Wallet, but they are not displayed there.

Screenshot
...

Don't immediately move to exchange those tokens because some tokens are deliberately made to deceive the people who get them. I once got an airdrop token for free, but when I went to the trouble of filling in fees and so on, I couldn't exchange it, it turns out the token was deliberately programmed just to suck up the fee, making tokens now very easy, so you have to be careful with freebies tokens that go into your personal wallet.
998  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading not for everyone! on: September 25, 2023, 10:51:23 PM
Just another piece of advise to newbies that just starting their journey with cryptocurrency, crypto trading is not for everyone. If you are unsure of your capabilities to trade it will be beneficial to you to just buy and hold, and be taking each opportunity of every dip on the market to Dollar -Cost-Average.

You're peacefully on track, and not losing out on anything. Trading has sent a bunch of persons back to their past. Cheesy

There is a time for everything, and the bull market is usually the time for holders. I am sure when the bull market returns as we're expecting, if you hold good project's you will make a good profit.

Don't follow the crowd, follow what has profitably proven to work for you. In cryptocurrency market it is time that makes the difference in our profit-making.

if everyone thinks that trading is not suitable for everyone then we will not see anyone losing or winning when trading, there is nothing wrong with trying to become a trader but the thing you have to throw away is the thought that you cannot lose when trading, However, you have to make a good strategy for starting it.
It is highly recommended for beginners to really prepare everything well (skill, mental and capital) without these three, you are just gambling or fantasizing about making a profit in trading.
999  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you deal with financial stress? on: September 25, 2023, 10:22:50 PM
Maybe I'm stressing out too much because I'm yet to find proper housing to establish myself again after being away for over a year in the military. I'm generally an anxious person myself, but does anyone else feel the same, and how do you deal with it? How do you stay optimistic?

Inflation in my country really makes the difficulty in earning money increasing, my family and I feel that too, but we remain optimistic because the days spent with an optimistic attitude will have a positive impact on what I will do and get.

@OP I feel you, most people in my country also have similar problem, some of them even worse because their family or people close to them are toxic.

To be honest it's really complicated and there's no other way except working more harder or go to other country that pay better.

Believe it or not, it is often the family that hinders us from developing financially, but not all, only the toxic ones, that's why some people decide to migrate to another city or country that has better pay, even though it's not easy, moving is something which is worth trying when you think it's impossible to stay in your place longer.

Taking a master's degree is really expensive, it's true you can take a scholarship program, but you need to meet the high requirements and terms.

Nowadays education is no longer the main determinant of someone's success, there are many who don't have higher education but they are successful in their lives, it comes back to their own decisions but struggling in education is something that must be tried.
1000  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Gives the poor an Opportunity. on: September 25, 2023, 10:08:26 PM
I don't really agree with the statement 'bitcoin makes the poor rich' but I agree with the title of your topic 'bitcoin gives opportunities to the poor'

with the increasingly limited number of bitcoins and also the increasing price, the number of poor people who are interested in buying bitcoins is small, but if they have a strong intention to change their fate, then buy bitcoins regularly and use bitcoins as an investment, then they are doing the right thing, but I doubt they would do that, usually poor people care more about what they eat today than what they will eat next year.
