1  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Stablecoins on Bitcoin blockchain, new crowd in announcement? on: May 24, 2024, 06:29:39 PM
Is this really necessary in the Bitcoin blockchain?
It's not necessary long term, but still better solution than dealing with bunch of altcoins, swaps and using exchanges when you need to use some alternative for fiat currencies.
I suspect that this project from Lightning Labs is going to be something centralized, like everything on Lightning Netwrork, but let's wait and see.
2  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Which wallet is better for lightning network on: May 24, 2024, 06:24:31 PM
I am seeking for a good lightning wallet specially for pc. suggest me a better option and how to use it. thank you!
Electrum is probably your safest option for desktop Lightning wallet, but generally speaking mobile wallets have better support for LN.
There is only one more desktop wallet with LN called Onekey, but I would avoid all non-custodial lightning wallets.
Only possible alternative is self-custodial Mutiny wallet that can be used in web browser.
3  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Cřbra announces Bitcoin Core can now be downloaded in the UK on: May 24, 2024, 06:15:19 PM
Good news.
Maybe Faketoshi and his partners finally run out of money after losing all court cases? Smiley

For those that didn't know, it previously wasn't possible to download Bitcoin Core from the UK because of litigation.
I didn't know about that but it sounds weird.
However, for anyone who is using internet it's trivial to change IP address (tor/vpn) and still download Bitcoin Core wallet from any location.
Just saying this in case any other country decides to do something similar in future.

Gledao sam još jedno teško sranje od filma Godzilla x Kong The New Empire, jer 2024 je godina majmunskog posla.
Nije mi bilo lako odgledati ga do kraja, a za to mi je trebalo nekoliko dana, ali moram reći i jedan mali glupi spolierčić... majmunu Kongu su popravljali i vadili pokvaren zub  Roll Eyes

7  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Rant-Hardware Wallet Physical Quality on: May 23, 2024, 06:53:52 PM
Removed the old 3V yesterday and put in a new one. Less then 24 hours later it's down to 0.6V so there is some sort of massive draw on this thing.
Biggest power consumption should be from that big screen, but new lithium batteries need some time to start working properly with few charge-discharge cycles.

Screen still has not arrived from China, no communication from seller. They said 4 to 6 weeks and we are just under 4 weeks now so I'll just keep waiting on that.
That is the ''beauty'' of ordering anything from China, you never know when something will arrive or not arrive  Tongue
My old multimeter device died recently, and I am looking something new to purchase... everything is made in China...

9  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: 55 Hardware Wallets, compared feature by feature on: May 23, 2024, 06:33:03 PM
I see I missed a big conversation here in last few days.  Shocked

Trezor, Ledger etc are neither airgapped nor btc-only firmware.
Trezor can be btc-only.
You can easily download Bitcoin-only firmware on all their devices, flash it, and you are done with altcoins (if you want).
Some other hardware wallets like Keystone is doing something similar and they are airgapped.

Considering it uses Shamir, the chip has a higher EAL rating and there's no bluetooth, wifi, inputs etc it's arguably safer than ledger or trezor.
Trezor also have shamir secret share, and they don't have NFC, like Ring (probably have).
I would not say Ring is more secure, especially as you have to make blind transactions because there is no screen to confirm transaction addresses.
Than let's say that Trezor made first ever hardware wallet in the world, and it's still manufactured today, so I can't say any new company non-open source product is going to be more secure.

Pizza Day Discounts
Nothing from Trezor and legder?
10  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: My transaction was invisible in Sparrow Wallet for two weeks! on: May 23, 2024, 06:22:29 PM
I found it. The fee was 5.28 sats/vB. Anyone know how can I rebroadcast with a higher fee in Sparrow/Coldcard?
So you want other people to pay higher fees for transactions you made?  Cheesy
Learn from this mistake, pay yourself fee to complete your transaction while they are still reasonably lower, and always double check mempool.space website before making any transactions in future.
11  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin wallet vs pendrive or Memory card. on: May 23, 2024, 05:46:20 PM
I'm not sure why the OP isn't considering USB external hard drives for backup purposes, because HDDs have a much better lifespan than the flash that you can find in a USB pen drive.
Probably true, unless they are made by some unknown manufacturer with cheap components.
However, if you want to leave something for your children or grandchildren I would still choose physical backup of seed words on stainless steel.
There is a good chance most drives will become obsolete in future, in same way like VHS and CD drives are now.

But in terms of lifespan, M-Disc would be better option as it claims can last 1000 years with bigger storage. Although you need to encrypt the file manually and certain DVD writer which also support M-Disc writing.
I never in my life saw M-disc and you would probably have hard time finding and playing it in future, but yeah they will survive longer, unless someone scratches them Tongue
12  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: OrangeFren.com - instant, KYC-free, exchange comparison on: May 23, 2024, 05:26:14 PM
You will earn 100% of the profits generated by searches made with the widget 🙆‍♀️
If I understand correctly that means affiliate will earn all profit from trades and OrangeFren gets nothing?

Now on OrangeFren.com you can toggle to hide services that might ask for KYC 🫡
Nice feature, but very short list of exchanges so far Wink
I can't find any offers from Bisq exchange via OrangeFren, not sure if it's removed or they changed something.

14  Other / Meta / Re: TalkImg.com - Image hosting for BitcoinTalk on: May 23, 2024, 05:04:53 PM
Do you mean the error where the browser says "This site isn't working" or something similar and then when you refresh the page (or if it refreshes automatically) it loads the actual site?
Yeah I think error like this was happening to me several times, but I can't reproduce it now so it's probably fixed by joker_josue.

PS
I had to post reply in proper topic that is related with TalkImg, to avoid going off-topic in Ninjatsic topic.
15  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: Non KYC virtual cards (support POS via Apple Pay and Google Pay) on: May 23, 2024, 11:01:08 AM
Now you can obtain nonKYC visa virtual card for 89usdt,
I can't find this card for 89usdt in bitfree app, I can see other cards and one of them is for 99usdt with 3ds support (I did input code you posted during registration).
And you should really create web interface for people who want to use browsers and don't want to install and use any more apps on their phone devices.

16  Other / Meta / Re: Ninjastic.space - BitcoinTalk Post/Address archive + API on: May 23, 2024, 10:02:04 AM
Today I also had some instability in TalkImg. I couldn't understand why, but after a few minutes, everything returned to normal, for no apparent reason.  Undecided
Ninjastic.space is working fine for me, but I had some issues with Talkimg every time I opened a page I got some error messages, but I was able to upload images.
I think I also saw someone reported issues with BPIP recently, so this must be something affecting wide range of websites and servers.
17  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Swap Cab on: May 22, 2024, 06:41:03 PM
Unfortunately Crypto cards are all related to KYC I don't think there is company that provides crypto cards without KYC/AML. I know two in US that says they have no KYC/AML but when you read deeper, they have no KYC to some limits, when limits are exceeded, you need to provide proof like ID etc. I could not test it myself because I live in Europe. These cards are available only in US.
There are still virtual debit cards that can be used without any KYC, and they have different terms and fees, but I know they exist and work.
This cards are different from gift cards that are only available to be used for purchase in specific shops.
Physical non-kyc cards are harder to find today, but even with kyc cards there could be different levels and limits for verification.
18  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: E-devices suitable for backup storage of seed phrases. on: May 22, 2024, 06:23:29 PM
I found another alternative for G-Shock G-2900 watch.
This is another model from Casio and it has the same features and memory with slightly different design and dimensions.
It is using different module 2957 and watch model is G-Shock G-7600

Here is short video and comparison with G-2900:
https://youtu.be/ifDyyceFDlk

None of the options on this thread include ENCRYPTION.
So does your regular writing of seed words on paper, there is no encryption there and no password.  Tongue
Nobody should used this devices for long term storage of bitcoin llfe savings.

YOU NEED LAYERS OF PROTECTION ON THE PHSYICAL DEVICE TO PREVENT A BRUTE FORCE ATTACK.
No they don't.
This are not devices designed to protect against brute force attacks, same as paper backup.
You can use Satochip cards for that because they are encrypted.

Using networked devices for this task is a bad idea. Use offline methods.
Most devices mentioned here are dumb and offline dude.
19  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: Bitcoin wallet vs pendrive or Memory card. on: May 22, 2024, 06:07:30 PM
USB flash drives generally don't have good lifetime unless they are industry graded, so I would not trust them as only backup option for storing bitcoin keys.

There is one interesting new drive Blaustahl USB, that is based on FRAM (Ferroelectric RAM) that could last up to 200 years, but it can only store 8kb of data, that means only text files.
It is expected that future firmware updates are going to include encryption for better security.

20  Bitcoin / Wallet software / Re: generating seed phrases offline and which wallets support custom passprhases? on: May 22, 2024, 06:01:47 PM
What software supports generating seed phrases with  custom passphrases, and in which software wallets such phrases could be imported?
Every passphrase is custom and it acts as salt on top of your seed words, there is no such thing as predefined passphrase for bitcoin wallets.
So if you and me use the same passphrase, we are still going to have totally different addresses generated because we have different seed words.

Software wallets I know have passphrase support are: Blue wallet, elecrtum wallet, blockstream green wallet, nunchuk wallet, sparrow, stack wallet, wasabi wallet.
Most hardware wallets also have support for multiple passphrases.
