1  Other / Off-topic / The EU is pretty cool on: August 13, 2013, 05:42:56 AM
Stalker update #23: It's official, I'm no longer living in Korea and have moved to the EU. In the past month I've visited dozens of bitcoiners and experienced a breathtaking difference of lifestyles than what I grew up with in the USA as I went through the UK, Germany, Austria and now in Slovenia (visited the nice Bitstamp fellas yesterday too).

I think I am now more sure than ever that I should work towards repatriation to an EU country and renunciation of my increasingly aggressive US ties. Good news for those of you who love to hate me, I'll be living next door to you now!

Updates on the pirate bet situation: 75% has been settled in full and only the larger amounts straggle as I build up income with my new projects.

Updates on finances relative to the community: I have paid back over $60,000 in loans and business shares for businesses than didn't work out and now only have two personal loans to friends of mine. I am still owed over $48,000 from various loans I gave to others, refunds, and businesses that have tried to screw me over and owe me a settlement.

Updates on projects: I'm working on a few projects these days, one of which I'll be happy to sell at the Bitcoin EU conference this September 26~28 in Amsterdam. As part of that product line (will explain later) I have made an agreement with Hal and Fran Finney to donate 50% of the profits to his charity. I'm also working in a few non-bitcoin related companies now and couldn't be happier (you notice I don't post here much :-))

Updates on my views: I now agree with most of the libertarian sentiments on bitcoin's importance, but am still a realist when it comes to practical application and timelines (no crazy anti-government speeches and give it 20 years to grow, stop pump and dumping it!). I have decided also that this forum has been poisoned by corruption and sloth and will be working sloely over the next year to throw my hand into building a useful replacement where moderation won't be necessary as I have seen first hand that Theymos' integrity and wisdom is highly questionable (he also still thinks IP = person).

Updates on my trolling: I still think this forum is a joke, but after leaving Korea and meeting many bitcoiners in person, its obvious I was living in a shell until now and don't exactly hold the same hyper-aggressive feelings I have before (except for scumbag scammers and backstabbing profiteers of course).

I remain happily controversial, I remain alive and well, and I am positive I will continue to annoy many of the right people this year. That said, I look forward to annoying the good people less and making up for lost time.

P.s. because theymos doesn't appreciate freedom of speech, I'm technically banned and can't respond to any threads (including this one) until dear leader decides I am now "safe" to let back in (safe meaning I won't bring up the hypocrisy of letting Garr225 scam because they are friends and give me a tag, all while saying he doesn't give tags anymore as an excuse for not giving one to avalon, BFL, Garr255, etc. Hahahaha. Wow.)
2  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Garr255/Werner - Auction shilling on: June 21, 2013, 04:00:31 PM
Wow, OK. Possible sockpuppet(s) of Garr, shill bidding, shill bidding is OK because "price negotiations," possible screenshot faking by Inaba, "enough evidence to open an investigation on Inaba," Garr has some of the forum's money, aaand more possible sockpuppet(s).

I'm sure I missed something. TL;DR please?

Theymos is Matthew's sock puppet.

Just kidding, it is mostly Matthew crying that cuz Matthew is a scammer and got tagged more than once then everyone who does something questionable should get the tag.

And then some "victims" begging for coins.

Let's not forget Chaang Noi, notorious pirateat40 conspirator attempting to downplay this scam out of fear of the effects on his investment (Garr255's business).
3  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Garr255/Werner - Auction shilling on: June 21, 2013, 03:48:59 PM
Wrong topic..

Wrong topic, or another sockpuppet account?

I'm genuinely curious as to why svbeon would be posting immediately following starsoccer9 that "I will be sending you the coins soon"

(Sorry for the postimg.org link - imgur is blocked here)

Probably just Garr255 forgetting which account he's on again.
4  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project "Bitcoin No Noise" on: June 21, 2013, 03:31:33 PM
No, I am not. Calling something out is not fascinating it.

Here, you have the untrustworthy tag. On your forum, you will not. So it will help you scam.

The forum being proposed would require users to trust me in order to scam. Your point is illogical.
5  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project "Bitcoin No Noise" on: June 21, 2013, 03:14:59 PM
Then that's meta.

No it's not because we're not talking about improving *this forum* which is what Meta is strictly about.
So it is off topic. I have no interest in this, I want to hear about bitcoin, not a scammer's scam forum.

And yet you, admittedly thinking this is a scam (which is ridiculous as no funds will ever come to me), continue to post here, increasing its popularity. If it were a scam, you'd be facilitating it.
6  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Garr255/Werner - Auction shilling on: June 21, 2013, 03:13:32 PM
Yes, people really do think you are a scammer. It is not a joke we all tried to pull on you. You cost a lot of people a lot of money while helping pirate sell off worthless debt.

Goat, what difference does it make in this thread weather Matthew is or is not a scammer?   Didn't you ask me not to shit up this thread by going off-topic?

No, I do not think that was me.

And the reason why this is on topic is that Matthew is trying to say cuz he got tagged Garr should as well.

I'm pointing out what Garr did and what Matthew did are not the same.

They are the same tho. Mattew didnt steal anyones funds. He didnt take funds and disappear nor did he not return money someone gave him.

Gar pushed up his own auction requiring me to bid higher and therefor stealing coins that would of otherwise not been stolen. He didnt forcefully make me bid, but he forced me to bid higher to win.

I can't believe Theymos actually said that. "No one put a gun to anyone's head". No one put a gun to anyone's head to bet with me either. The hypocrisy is maddening.

Time for dinner!
7  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project "Bitcoin No Noise" on: June 21, 2013, 03:11:34 PM
Even if your project becomes everything you hope for, I'll probably still post here at least as much as there, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.
Thank you for the words of support and enthusiasm, I understand the scale of the undertaking and how it looks to the outside world ("He's crazy!") but it's genuine and I'm not giving up just because the rich boys club of Bitcoin doesn't put a foundation seal on it. As for posting here, I don't know about you, but I'd have no reason to ever post here again.

9  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Garr255/Werner - Auction shilling on: June 21, 2013, 03:06:25 PM
The fact is he obviously learned this practice was acceptable via whatever means and now he has apologized for it offered damages an people are still crucifying him. I'm sure 99% of the people crucifying him have done something along the way the regret as well and wouldn't want a lifetime tag of it.

And now for the moral dilemma that outlines the hypocrisy here. You just described the reasoning behind me making a trolling bet, yet even though I also didn't profit (in fact I paid much more than Garr will ever be able to pay in his lifetime probably) as a result of it, I'm still deemed a scammer or "untrustworthy". Why would that be? Because he's a few years younger than me?
Because you SCAMMED people.

If you used a sockpuppet and went "I want to bet 100,000 BTC", and then you "resold" those bets at 1:0.75, then you are not a scammer. People (like the bidders) accepted the new price.

Can't tell if serious. My bet was a prank. I had no intention of accepting funds. I made an illegitimate promise that I had no intention of keeping, and ended up deciding the right thing to do was to keep it anyway given my perception of how it negatively affected the community, no one forced me to make things right (there is no legal ground to do so).

Through my contributions (I founded Bitcoin Magazine, the largest bitcoin business incubator in its history to date, handling tens  of thousands of bitcoins for others, having business loans that I paid back personally when the business failed, etc) I have proven I am trustworthy, I have proven I didn't scam, and I have proven I'm not a scammer countless times and still retain the trust of hundreds of active businessmen, exchange owners, developers, designers and project managers in this community and yet an "untrustworthy" tag is appropriate?

In contrast, Garr made a contract to sell something to the highest bidder in an open and fair auction but deceived others as to the proper price (he admitted to doing this and understands why it's wrong). This makes him "honest" because he merely apologizes for being caught? Do you hear yourself? He is a scammer, he is caught and apologized. Deal with it.
10  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project "Bitcoin No Noise" on: June 21, 2013, 02:59:57 PM
Why is this in bitcoin discussion? It should be moved to offtopic, it's about a forum!

No, it's about innovation and taking the noise down.

Quote
General discussion about the Bitcoin ecosystem that doesn't fit better elsewhere. News, the Bitcoin community, innovations, the general environment, etc. Discussion of specific Bitcoin-related services usually belongs in other sections.

This is not a bitcoin related service, it is a discussion of solving the noise and integrity issues in bitcoin discussion.

Oh, I guess that was not clearly laid out in the OP. So you will still access this through a web browser?

Yessir, there is no need for browser plugins (although some features will be enabled through such) but the gist would be that on the server side, it would be more fast and secure and allow for encryption that this current forum just can't support. (I updated the spreadsheet to make that more clear! Thanks for bringing that up.)

He could have said it was all just a joke and was trying to teach us all a lesson.
If that were the truth, he should have said that. Instead, he denied it and made up a story that he was only associating himself with another account because of blackmail (more lies). How many shares of his company do you own that you would need to defend his dishonesty while attacking others? The hypocrisy and corruption here needs to be highlighted. Efforts to cover it up or shrug it off should be spotlighted.
13  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project "Bitcoin No Noise" on: June 21, 2013, 02:49:19 PM
The thing you are looking for is "the network effect".
Yep. It will come, and it will happen without any advertising at all as the corruption and hypocrisy here continues to grow.

I am not sure having a standalone application

No one said anything about a stand alone client application. The application on the *server* is intended to be a stand alone application in that it doesn't need a bunch of plugins installed or even an httpd server.

Cheesy Who could hope for mere? Cheesy

Accounts being bought & sold in the open?  Meh. Not a scam, 'coz victim?
Sock accounts?  No way to prove!
A confirmed sock account?   STFU Legit!
A confirmed sock shilling?  STFU & GTFO  Legitimate sales tactic of friends respected users.
A confirmed sock with documented forum connections shilling & lying?  !11!!STFU!1!1  HE SAID HE'S SORRY, WTF dood!!!

Huh Guess i've sopped up enough knowledge to start trading on this forum Cool <<< Gullible noob!  You ain't seen sheet!

Your comments reflect the way most of us here feel. The current state of things demand something where people have total control and can actually decide on their own. A system with paid moderators works against that by diluting the power of your votes for change.
15  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project "Bitcoin No Noise" on: June 21, 2013, 02:31:24 PM
Matt, you're getting dangerously close to Atlas-speak again. You should go do some breathing exercises or scream at the forest or take a nice relaxing juniper berry bath or something.

Someone privately told me "Settle down or Theymos 'gonna ban ya!". Yea, it's true I don't always understand how I come across (I'm a ball of energy and am able to have an equal amount of fun alone as with others) but I do not think my intentions here are flawed.

fake edit: Can you drink the Juniper Berry Bath when you're done?
16  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project "Bitcoin No Noise" on: June 21, 2013, 02:29:07 PM
Take a look at http://www.discourse.org/
May be you can fork them instead of doing yet another same forum.

Thank you, I just checked them out and although there were some really good features, it has moderation embedded at the core and thus contradicts with the intention of this project so I'll see what I can borrow if anything! Cheers
17  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: [ANN] Tangible Cryptography suspends Bitcoin related transactions on: June 21, 2013, 02:05:58 PM
Equally good luck running any bitcoin services in the lightnet. We can all see how little luck and sliding down slippery slopes to oblivion that system has, on a monthly, if not weekly basis.

Of course just use first international darknet bank (with global ACH and wire service).  Why didn't I think of that?

Do they have a black credit card like American Express does?
18  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Garr255/Werner - Auction shilling on: June 21, 2013, 02:04:57 PM
When have I ever scammed anyone of anything?

You still haven't answered the question. We all know why you haven't (because your answer would have to contradict the FUD you're spreading), but it is good to know that after promoting Pirateat40's massive fraud, you're still able to come back and continue promoting lies.
19  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project "Bitcoin No Noise" on: June 21, 2013, 02:03:49 PM
Time for project "If you don't like it, then GTFO Matthew".

Indeed. Nothing wrong with starting something else. Quite the opposite , competition and having alternatives is a good thing: go for it!

Just don't start new things coming from negative emotions (and communicating them) since people will feel less inclined to work with you. Start something from positive emotions by listing all the new things you want to do instead of attacking these forums.

The way you worded it now (and have articulated yourself in the past few days) I can only agree with Blitz ....

I agree with you and have thought about that while typing what I said. Bitcoin itself is supposedly a "replacement" of fiat, and it is very hard for bitcoiners to not be emotional when talking about using bitcoin over fiat. There are very few people in this community who can say "I use bitcoin just because it's neat and have no interest in shaking things up". In fact, we have public psuedo-leaders (and false prophet cultists) constantly plastering the news with their libertarian aqendas to "dissolve the governments of the world by first using bitcoin" etc. I in fact argue that that is the wrong way to go too, so I commend you for reminding me of how it sounds listening to someone overly passionate.

Be that as it may, this is better for everyone. The inspiration comes from disgust of the current system, but the results will come from a love for freedom and integrity.
20  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Project "Bitcoin No Noise" on: June 21, 2013, 02:00:59 PM
I'm new here but aren't [...] bitcointalk bigger than some of the concerns being expressed?
Too big to fail eh?

Shouldn't the aim be to promote bitcoin by making this a safer and more user/noob friendly environment?
How do you feel about the bitcoin subreddit? Do you think that's distracting and everyone should just use this forum instead?

Private, invite only subforums or threads and 100% self-moderation sounds like it would achieve the exact opposite.
Please read the spreadsheet. Private, invite-only is not the norm, just an option, just like how there is a VIP only subforum section on this very SMF forum. You would be arguing that this forum is not promoting bitcoin as a result? I'm not sure if I understand correctly but I recommend reading the spreadsheet and spending more time here to fully understand why something like the forum being proposed is truly necessary for the longevity of bitcoin and discussions.

I actually think some of the issues - particularly around the borked trust system and the enormous number of scammers/scammer accounts on here - could be addressed by having more active mods. (How difficult is it to mark someone with a "Trade Dispute" tag if there are accusations outstanding, then upgrade it to "Scammer" or removing it when resolved? Clone accounts should also be insta-tagged (I'm guessing the mods just don't have the time at the moment.)
There comes a time (like with current world governments) when replacing a few people doesn't solve anything as the system itself is broken. When that realization comes over you, your first instinct will be to fight it. I did, and nothing is changing because it is far too profitable to be lazy here as an admin/moderator. Your next reaction will be to create something better. This is where we are now.
