181  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: BITMAIN announces Antpool on: January 05, 2016, 11:57:03 AM
People asking bitmain/antpool to respond to questions seem to be wasting their time asking as they do not respond. for pool operators of one of the largest pools they are one of the worst for communications. If theirs a problem they wont let you know and you just have to wait until things start to work again.

I can only offer the advice of wait until things start to work (and then until it inevitably stops working again) or jump ship to a pool that provides good communications and support (e.g. Kano, CKpool) and use antpool etc.. as your backup pool.

Agreed.  For such a large pool their Customer Support is absolutely terrible!  They really need to start investing in some customer-facing infrastructure (particularly native speakers) with enough technical chops to get these ticket turn around times reduced as well.
182  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 0.5% fee solo mining USA/DE/CN servers 143 blocks solved! on: January 05, 2016, 11:54:24 AM
long time pool users could not find a block, does pool total hash rate reduced? or reason only pool unlucky these days? can we look total hash amount of pool from anywhere?

Why so few blocks lately? Has the recent difficulty increases really made this much difference?

I notice there's 935TH mining at the moment.
Because diff + luck
Have no fear!!  I just brought an old BFL jalapeno sprinkled with Gypsy water online and pointed it exclusively at this pool!!  It cost me $400 bucks but the Gypsy lady swore it would and it came with a 100% money back guarantee so I figured what the heck!!  She told me to run it for 7 days straight and that if no block is hit within that time I can call her pager and she'll make arrangements for me to give it back in return for my cash!

I wonder just how long it will take the pool to adjust my worker's difficulty down to a low enough level to actually land that magical share now Smiley

184  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: is it still a good idea to create a blog about bitcoin? on: January 05, 2016, 03:51:36 AM
At this point thats going to be largely dependent on how creative a writer you are and what kind of traffic you can drive to your site.  Obviously there is more and more competition in the bitcoin space in this arena.

Hey dooglus, just wanted to thank you for your clam post on bootstrapping the blockchain.  This thing was running for over a day and a half and barely a quarter of the way through until somebody on polo suggested checking for a bootstrap.  Not sure why I didn't think to look for it myself but now it's looking like my blockchain will definitely up to date within my lifetime Smiley

thanks again
186  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Burningman App - from Steps to Bitcoins on: January 05, 2016, 03:25:46 AM
Despite not being able to participate directly with the Burningman App (as there's no Android version).  I'm still curious as to how it distinguishes between real and potentially faked steps.  Doesn't seem like this would be an easy egg to crack.
187  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Help with mining Litecoin on: January 04, 2016, 06:52:35 AM
Hello friends
Good evening

First, Happy New Year to all

I am in search for a solution to the gridseed function properly. I'm starting in mining, and still am quite lay on the subject. However after doing some test mining CPU, I bought a used gridseed, but after 15 days, until today still can not mine with gridseed. Already installed and uninstalled it and installed it again several times in the footsteps of these tutorials https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjXu5BYjEHo and http://cryptomining-blog.com/1711-updated-guide-on-how-to-mine-both-btc-and-ltc-on-gridseed-5-chip-gc3355-asic/ . After a few attempts I found that the installation of Zadig 2.1.2 is giving error (if I heed not the first installation he had given an error), is that the problem is this drive?

Saved prints the error and the error log on google drive, follow the link below. Again thank you for help.

It definitely looks like the Zadig driver's not properly installing is the root of your issue.  You might want to check the source of those drivers.

Here is a slightly older thread by a trusted member of the community on setting up the gc3355's

188  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: State of mining on: January 04, 2016, 06:48:18 AM
Yup.  faucets are pretty much just a good introduction for people that aren't ready to jump on board the bitcoin bandwagon with their own hard earned cash at this point.

I also agree with @fr4nkthetank regarding the efficiency of the chips continuing to amaze however I do think the drastic gains in power efficiency are going to start slowing down pretty dramatically this year.

Vouching for Premium key provided by thread owner.  Had some technical difficulties getting it installed successfully but it appears to be working as advertised now.

Will see what kind of throughput I get on it now Smiley

Thanks for the vouch copy.

Well received a vouch copy and wasn't impressed that it was just a link to a webpage. You shouldn't been selling a page which could easily be found via Google.
Well hell!!  At least the price was right huh?

Code received and applied successfully.  Having an issue with TAPI driver installation atm but probably because of either my firewall or antivirus settings.  Will try disabling later tonight and retrying actual service itself.

198  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ★[ANN] [NAV] NAVAJO COIN - EVENT IN TAIPEI ● NEW ROADMAP ● ANONYMOUS TECH. ● CHAT ● on: December 29, 2015, 04:24:01 AM
Great to see the updated roadmap.  Thanks.

So dj and I where playing around a bit with anon sends to one another.  Seriously, a 5% fee?!?  Are you kidding me?

Also not really understanding why amounts smaller than 10 NAV can't be sent anonymously.

smaller than 10 Nav to prevent spam in nethwork. Its fine for me.
And send anon fee I think is higher than 10 Nav so maybe too is no sense sending smaller amount than 10 Nav.
But Nav is not btc/ltc so nobody not need send so small amount coins like less than 10 Navs.
imo.
That's all well and good.  I'm just thinking ahead for when NAV's are selling in the $5-10 range :p

(yeah yeah, that's the ticket)

Always good to have the ability to truly tip somebody anonymously btw Wink

We're looking into this, I thought it was set to 0.5% but perhaps it rolled back to its original value (5%) when we restored the API from a back up.

This will definitely be lowered in the next few days.

.5% is much more reasonable... Wink
Agreed.

Insofar as the Pi Masternode distribution possibility.  Are you guys still planning on having these MN's maintain a specific minimum initial balance?  Will the Nav Pi's be a requirement to run master nodes?  If so, I'm assuming the dev of Pi node will be open sourcing the design?
199  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Burningman App - from Steps to Bitcoins on: December 29, 2015, 03:44:43 AM
Any plans on releasing a version for Android phones?

Thought why not give it a shot given I walk a fair bit but sadly all I have is this ole beat up android doo hickey!  Cool concept though.

Cryptsy has been experiencing wallet w/d issue(s) for well over a month now.  People only intermittently reporting successful withdrawal's (I had one just two days ago but for trivial amount) and no ETA as to when it will be resolved.  Not unusual for Cryptsy to constantly have wallet issue(s), but sustained across the board w/d issues for just about everybody for so long is disconcerting to say the least.
