Tokyo Police Launch Investigation into Missing Mt. Gox Bitcoin

wow , they are damn fast! i guess Mark will be in jail in 2043  Tongue
lol.  Unfortunately I suspect your probably not far from the truth.  Really doubt he will spend anytime in prison whatsoever despite the fact that he more than likely stole the majority of these 'lost' coins one way or another.  Had a sneaking suspicion about that guy ever since I saw that first video of his operations in which he says "Bitcoin definitely qualifies as zee risky investment"
1122  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: New to Bitcointalk on: July 31, 2014, 12:31:25 AM
Welcome to the forums and congratulations on getting your online business setup to accept bitcoin.  Hopefully you can earn a few satoshi's while giving fellas the mechanism's needed to maybe get lucky Smiley

Good luck to you with your business.
1123  Economy / Speculation / Re: $10,000 when? on: July 31, 2014, 12:28:57 AM
End 2015/early 2016

Also possibly never
If bitcoin ever reaches $10,000 my guess would be even more conservative.  Mid 2017/early 2018.
1124  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTB: Your Old ASIC! SHA or Scrypt - Inefficient is fine - Fury, etc on: July 30, 2014, 10:26:03 PM
Shoot me an offer (PM or here) for 7GH BFL jally's and 30GH LS's if your interested.
1125  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin/Litecoin Mining Hardware Investment on: July 30, 2014, 09:36:05 PM
Mining on a laptop is just fine if the laptop is connected to some external ASIC's of some sort.  For example, I have my laptop currently hashing with a nanofury on an external USB hub.  Way too much heat for my poor little laptop to handle when I plugged USB stick directly into USB port.  If your talking about some old BFL gear you will be fine hashing on those from your laptop.  The mining software in and of itself doesn't burn your laptop out.  It's the actual process of using your CPU for hashing (as opposed to running a program that outsources that hashing) to someone else.
1126  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2014-07-30] Steve Stockman: New York’s Bitcoin Regulation Could Crush the Indus on: July 30, 2014, 09:30:43 PM
And of course we have Banks being exempt from these rules themselves.  Classic.  This can't possibly pass can it?  Would be a real shame of NY adopted such ridiculous rules.  All they will do is drive innovation straight out of their state.  Unfortunately if it is passed I suspect the remaining 49 states will ultimately follow suit :/

Bitlicense in it's present form is a death knell for long term us involvement in the crypto space.  Get with the program New Yorkers, petition your officials.  Cry out from the mountaintops "We demand access to our bitcoins!  I can create an Alt coin for my son's 3rd grade science fair show!"
1127  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Alpha Technology Litecoin (Scrypt) ASIC Miner Order Batch 1 Now! on: July 30, 2014, 07:40:47 PM
Alpha Technologies situation going from bad to worse.  I'm guessing the "big announcement" will be nothing more than some sort of at-cost rate for X # of batch 1 pre-orders essentially discounted to their costs.  No idea obviously but this is my guess.
1128  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MAX] MaxCoin - Alive and Kickin' on: July 30, 2014, 07:24:29 PM
So obviously the whole 5000 satoshi bottom didn't pan out.  Anybody have any link's to alleged sha-3 fpga project that was supposedly going on?  Did it get funded?

Whatever happened to the maxcoin stabilization fund that was supposed to happen between max and that other fella?

Future not looking to bright for this coin atm imho.
1129  Other / Meta / Re: My Account Was Flagged as "Spam, insubstantial posts" - Can Anyone Explain? on: July 30, 2014, 06:44:25 PM
My roommates account was also banned for this reason supposedly.  I've reviewed last couple of pages of his posts and though I agree there is a fair amount of fluff or attempts at humor I fail to see why he was banned.  If this is a question of you guys thinking we are the same person because we have the same IP address let me lay those worries to rest. It says 7 days after his account so I'm sure he'll be asking himself when he's allowed to post again.  Anyway, if this is the criteria your going to start using for banning people I can see a huge percentage of these posters getting banned left and right.  Will probably improve the overall quality of the threads but I guess only time will tell.

You knew about his ban before your roommate did? Why would he ask how long he's banned for when it says 7 days? Seems a bit weird.
Nope, I don't know of anyway to see that his account is banned.  I meant he would be asking forum mod's himself why his account was banned (once he's able to do so)
1130  Other / Meta / Re: My Account Was Flagged as "Spam, insubstantial posts" - Can Anyone Explain? on: July 30, 2014, 05:27:53 PM
I myself have never had my account banned nor do I use any other account's when communicating on the forums.  I simply assumed our having the same IP might have been a potential reason for the ban since I didn't think his posts where overly 'spammy' at least the ones I looked at but of course I only looked at last 30-40 posts and I'm not the authority on constructive posts per say...just wanted to make sure he wasn't getting banned for the wrong reasons.

Bottom line, it's his account, luckily mine hasn't been affected and he's a big boy and can find out what's going on once his ban is lifted.

A woman walks in a store to return a pair of eyeglasses that she had purchased for her husband a week before.

"What seems to be the problem, madam?"

"I'm returning these glasses I bought for my husband. He's still not seeing things my way."
1132  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: Anyone tried this site yet? on: July 30, 2014, 05:48:48 AM
Agreed this one's a scam.  At least whoever is running this one made it easy enough to identify as such with their page layout.
1133  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Best Bitcoin Miner for ~300? on: July 30, 2014, 05:46:30 AM
I would also recommend watching the [Marketplace] [Goods] section as well as [Auctions].  Occassionaly you can find a decent raffle under [Marketplace] [Gambling] [Games and Rounds] too such as this one that I'm entered into.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=713625.new#new

*note, these are literally gambling and there is no garuntee that you will walk away with anything for the satoshi's you throw at it.  Luck of the draw type of stuff.

S1's are absolutely rock-solid though.  Self-contained, not real noisy imho and stable as stable can be.  Highly recommended.  S3's also reasonably priced and offer far better wattage/GH ratio if you don't have reasonably cheap electric.
1134  Economy / Games and rounds / Re: [RAFFLE] Antminer S1 - Tiny Ticket Cost on: July 30, 2014, 05:44:20 AM
semobo, if I send in enough for that 5th ticket after-the-fact will you still hook me up with the freebie?
1135  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What is average cost of electricity for miners? on: July 30, 2014, 05:40:51 AM
Currently paying ~0.075/USD/kw here in Oregon.  I too have heard of 2 cent per kilowatt hour electric somewhere in Eastern Washington I believe.  Isn't that where Megabigpower resides?

Here's a quick summary of average prices around the world circa 2013
http://theenergycollective.com/lindsay-wilson/279126/average-electricity-prices-around-world-kwh

My friend that lives in Denmark as well as my girl's family living in Germany confirm the two most outrageous #'s you'll see there.  Absolutely nuts!

Interesting to see how much electricity costs vary from region to region and see people's posted costs here in the threads.

Not seeing KARM/BTC trading pair on Cryptsy.  Has it been removed?

Once heard a convict say: "You kiss ass long enough and eventually your going to choke on Shit!"

This is what all the political ass-kissing has resulted in?
