Can we have more threads about the South American and African economies, and the use of crypto-currencies to help members who are in countries with oppressive regimes. I'd also be interested in more comments about the ways for people to help family members in such countries.
I'd love to hear more about these same things, but I'm going to tell you something.  People from all over Asia and Africa are writing on this forum all the time, and they're mostly very generic statements and don't give the reader any clue as to how crypto is being used in any of those places.  I was trying to figure out the extent to which bitcoin and Dash specifically were being used in Venezuela, where they're actually having a hyperinflation situation, and all I've ever seen were the news quotes from Hydrogen.  All the comments added nothing to any of it.

I'm from France but I'm a frequent traveler and decided recently that I'd take a look at the crypto scene in some of the countries I visit.

I'll keep doing that any chance I get but I agree it would be nice if people around the world shared their experiences.

About South America and Africa, I recently posted this in the WO thread (best thread for this kind of info if you ask me  Wink)

Africa Is "Ahead of Western Countries" Adopting P2P Finance, Says Paxful's CEO

https://www.forbes.com/sites/rebeccacampbell1/2019/01/16/africa-is-ahead-of-western-countries-adopting-p2p-finance-says-paxfuls-ceo/#d6e165a58ba4

"One company that is aiming to provide a gateway to the world's population that have been frozen out of the ecosystem is Paxful, a peer-to-peer bitcoin marketplace that is connecting buyers with sellers.

Founded in 2015, the platform saw its transaction volume increase by 130% in 2018, driven by a growth of activity among African users. The surge in figures was due to Paxful's user base tripling in Ghana, with the opening of 41,243 accounts, and Nigeria's accounts more than doubling to 321,476.

Speaking about this, Ray Youssef, CEO and co-founder of Paxful, said that they have noticed more people focused on trading rather than investing following the dip with bitcoin's price. He noted that most of the people doing this are from Africa who are "way ahead of the Western countries in the adoption of peer-to-peer finance."

For a market like Africa, where financial institutions are not easily accessible and many in the population are unbanked and underbanked, peer-to-peer finance gives them access to take control of their money the way they want, he added. It's an opportunity for them to take control of their finances and be financially independent.

As Youssef explained they have created a system that has bitcoin and blockchain technology in its core, but is completely human in execution.

People are taking control of their finances one Paxful trade at a time, he added. And more and more financially unreachable places around the world are finally included in a global financial scale. It's heartwarming to see that a lot of people are using our platform to change their lives for the better."

https://dailyhodl.com/2019/01/27/bitcoin-buys-takeout-on-germanys-largest-food-delivery-platform-with-over-13000-restaurants-and-lots-of-pizza/

"Germany’s largest online food delivery platform has swelled to over 13,000 restaurants and accepts Bitcoin for payment. The Berlin-based Lieferando.de operates across the country to deliver all types of culinary dream dishes, from fancy to fast food.

Online customers can pay with Bitcoin, credit cards, Sofort or PayPal. When paying with Bitcoin, the company says it does not charge any fees, while it costs an additional 6%, to pay with PayPal and credit cards.

Lieferando is owned by Takeaway.com, one of the largest online food ordering websites in the world, which first started accepting Bitcoin in July 2017.

The company says the payment option has been well received by its customers. Takeaway also powers Bitcoin payments for deliveries in the Netherlands, Austria and Poland."

Guys one question for all senior members. What's so special about hats in your profile. I have never seen this craze in any other thread so far. Plz tell me.

I think it somehow relates to Trump MAGA hat.. sort of american fetish

This guy nailed it. Everyone wearing a hat in this thread is a die hard Trump fanatic. MAGA!

I would never wear the MAGA hat but this one I could :

Danemark is a good team and deserves to win!

They crushed their opponents during the competition.
+8 vs. France in the Semis, +9 in the final vs. Norway.  Shocked
Like I said, it's been a while since a team has dominated an international tournament this way.
Very very impressed by the Danes, their offense and Mikkel Hansen in particular.

1 team member with a fake pic, 1 team member with an incomplete name, 2 team members without pics.
Miles Zabara ? That's a guy''s name. Where is she from ?
Daeho Ra is supposed to work for SK Hynix... can't find anything on him anywhere.
Other resumes are vague, names are very common ("specialized in blockchain long time" ? loool)

Seriously, be a bit more careful if you're gonna scam people, this is amateurish scamming at best.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5060118.msg49229653#msg49229653

Tu peux effectivement vendre tes BTC pour retirer du cash sur la plupart d'entre eux. En fait, chaque distributeur a ses specificites propres (montant minimum, taux, commission, types de cryptos, achat / vente...).

Seems there is some issue with the Localbitcoins.com forum (temporarily disabled)
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/ajzym3/psa_localbitcoinscom_compromised_do_not_attempt/
https://www.cryptoglobe.com/latest/2019/01/localbitcoins-compromised-hacker-nets-8-btc-phishing-users/

"The popular peer-to-peer cryptocurrency exchange LocalBitcoins has seemingly been compromised, as users are reporting its forums were redirecting them to a login page that then sent their details to a hacker. An address being shared already has nearly 8 BTC – around $28,600 – in it."
