1341  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin just dropped to under 900$ and it keeps going down on: January 09, 2017, 02:19:23 PM
So a couple reasons the price drops fast.

1. a whale just hit his minimum sale value and is cashing out
2. people are panicking
3. other reasons...

Also with all the Chinese new year influence and the large market share they have...expect to see all sorts of movement for the next couple weeks. Possibly a new high, or even a return to an old low...nobody knows because it's really just speculation.

It's easy to dream and easier to panic but the only thing that I can truly tell you...is that if you sell your bitcoins now, you'll regret it once they hit 10k, and probably a lot sooner...like at 2k or even 1.3k.

I for one know that the only way to guarantee your income is to wait...yup that's right. Put your long term storage in a cold wallet and think of it as your retirement fund...not something you plan to feed yourself with next week.

Bitcoin for the 99th percentile should be a long term investment strategy(buy low sell high), if you are a skilled trader then you don't need my advice...
1342  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: LOOKING TO BUY BTC FROM A TRUSTED MEMBER VIA PAYPAL on: January 09, 2017, 02:11:36 PM
Listen up kids.

Throwing tantrums and pointing fingers and general acts of shitshowing never make for successful business. It also makes you look like someone who's scam has been revealed.

Successful traders are patient, polite and generally don't cry in public.

Tell you what.

If you pay me $75 in paypal...I will pay a trusted escrow to hold the $75 btc for the 1 year charge-back period and then release it to you if no charge-back has occurred. I will give positive trust at the end of the 1 year period.

Fair enough? That way nobody gets screwed.
1343  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: LOOKING TO BUY BTC FROM A TRUSTED MEMBER VIA PAYPAL on: January 09, 2017, 01:47:36 PM
Yeah, I think that if you want to build trust using paypal you should allow someone to buy from you with it...not the other way around.

I mean, I usually give everyone the benefit of the doubt...but people who stick to their guns using cyclical commentary are usually scammers.

It's not worth the effort, the risk or the headache when most of us already have a way to sell bitcoins risk free. Few of us are altruistic anymore.

Buy something with paypal...sell it here for bitcoin using escrow.

Tada...you now have 1-2 positive trust ratings and everyone is happy.

Tell you what, I am in need a cat poop scooper. I will pay you $10 in bitcoin to ship one to me if it isn't a piece of trash.

Viola...you'd be 1/7th of the way there.

I'm not going to offer any additional solutions...
1344  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: how strong is bitcoin really? on: January 09, 2017, 01:23:57 PM
The biggest weakness isn't the technology itself, but the weakest point is always human.  Grin
A seed written in an unsecured word doc placed in a folder next to your desktop wallet, weak passwords for online wallets, a lot of trash programs with trojans installed on your computer on mobile phone.. There is a lot of security holes created by users themselves. Wink

Yup, technology can be (in theory) impenetrable...the weakest link is usually someone going full 'tard, laziness or what have you.

My previous statement should have stressed the importance of having multiple levels of protection. At least then you need multiple people to fail...still likely but less likely.

If you are storing your bitcoins on a PC then make sure you take every precaution available...including never letting anyone else use the computer.

I think it's actually pretty neat to use compute sticks for wallet storage/crypto management due to how portable they are.

I've been curious about these, are there cheapish ones that can handle 1-2kw power draw?
1346  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: LOOKING TO BUY BTC FROM A TRUSTED MEMBER VIA PAYPAL on: January 09, 2017, 01:16:19 PM
escrow you would want to consider using:

phillipma, monbux, ognasty...there's a list somewhere but it's not up to date or complete.

monbux does free escrow, phillipma wants to do more escrows than he's already doing...and ognasty is like royalty here.

I'd offer to escrow but I'm probably a bit fresh and ornery for you.

I haven't done any cross researching as of yet, but off the top of your head...is there anything here or that you have access to that is exclusive to africa?

Or on the off chance do you have any Varanadi Kwath or Gulguluthikthakam Kwath laying around?
1348  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: LOOKING TO BUY BTC FROM A TRUSTED MEMBER VIA PAYPAL on: January 09, 2017, 12:41:37 PM
I guess if you reaaally were desperate you could buy bitcoin on ebay and then purchase items here.

You ain't dumb if you've discovered bitcoin...you'll figure it out
1349  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: LOOKING TO BUY BTC FROM A TRUSTED MEMBER VIA PAYPAL on: January 09, 2017, 12:36:31 PM
The problem is that you are attempting to make a trade using the easiest way to scam.

You will want to find a different way.

All of the informational tools you need to succeed have already been given to you.

If this information doesn't assist you then I'll have no choice but to assume you're intentionally trying to scam.
1350  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: LOOKING TO BUY BTC FROM A TRUSTED MEMBER VIA PAYPAL on: January 09, 2017, 12:06:46 PM
Nobody wants to do PayPal trades with fresh accounts. The reasoning behind this is the frequency of scam attempts. Nobody with experience will want to risk you scamming them.

You can buy bitcoins through coinbase.com or cex.io using your bank account or card. Alternatively you can sell things we might be interested in here on the forums, the best things to sell are things that aren't already being sold. Escrow is a great way to build trust because of the extra people involved in the trade(extra feedback = additional rapour).

You should look into localbitcoins.com and make the trade in person if you would like to remain anonymous.

Your first few trades should either be selling something of value to us or a purchase from someone here on the forum.

Good fortune to you and welcome to bitcointalk.

p.s. we're trying to help you, don't ignore our free advice...

I'd take a mixed case or half a mixed case, I'll commit to a full case if it can be had for the 45$ or half case if it will cost more.

No preference on type. Ideally an equal mix of everything but I'm not picky...it all comes out the same. Cheesy

1353  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS Antminer S9, 13TH/s Batch 17 @ 1800USD (worldwide) on: January 08, 2017, 02:41:56 PM
How much for the S7?

I wouldn't offer more than $210 usd, shipping by you.

If there is a question about Yochdogs rep then you need to shop elsewhere- I have had multiple transactions with him both buying and selling.  He is a stand up guy and our transaction total far exceeds $50k

You know what...I will shop elsewhere. I am currently under the impression that both of your accounts have been purchased or are at least owned by the same individual.

Please use the standard trust system for trust related things...

Dear Sidehack,

Your dedication to this stuff is quite inspiring, so thanks for that)

Could you tell us is there any approximate price for the "Biggie" pod?

It's fairly difficult to determine this before a prototype is finished and functional due to the having to cover both manufacturing/material costs as well as research and development.

It's easy to say the parts cost X and it costs Y to put the miner together and it costs Z to ship it.

Until there is a functional prototype an approximate value can only be calculated as the following:

(X+Y+Z) = A+R&D markup(multiplied by number of devices).

It could be said that the device will cost no less than Z(shipping cost) but that's a useless estimate without the rest of the values.

If I was to guestimate, I think they'll cost more than a loaf of bread...but less than a breadtruck.

Actually it is, to anyone that has actually been around for a while.

For your sake I hope one of them is interested then. You narrow your buyers market by not accepting escrow and catering only to folks from 2013/2014.
1358  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTB] S7 blades on: January 06, 2017, 10:42:01 PM
what frequency/chip# are you looking for?

1359  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] - A4 Dominator Scrypt ASIC on: January 06, 2017, 01:22:12 PM
Your rep isn't unquestionable. That statement alone makes me question your rep based on the following:

1. You have no recent trusted feedback
2. You are asking more for something than it's worth
3. Demanding that people pay first.
1360  Economy / Currency exchange / Re: Selling 1 BTC for paypal on: January 05, 2017, 08:25:49 PM
You gonna need escrow...or use something like coinbase+shift card.
