lol  Grin

Yep, seen this too and the only thing this remembered me on was MT.GOX they had the same pattern with the Willy bot.
Looks like a broken API connection by coinmarketcap to ripplecharts.com to me...

I'm not sure what the other pictures from BTCUSD charts/markets should have to do with Ripple?

This is manipulation of available supply.  In terms of price, before the pump occurred, there was almost no difference.

https://archive.org/web/
(and inputting coinmarketcap.com)

Like in April the price was .005 BTC and now it's 0.009 BTC, so Ripple hasn't even doubled in price.  Most of this recent price gain is because people think Ripple is exploding due to all the faking and manipulation so they are frenzy buying / pumping.

As you tend to delete your posts, here's the answer to another, similar post by you that I wrote today:
Ripple capitalization is just heavily manipulated because they have Gliss on coinmarketcap fiddling with the numbers to make it look bigger than it really is.  Remember when Gliss used to accurately report the number of available Ripple Coins?  What made him changed his mind?  Did he receive a Ferrari as a birthday gift?  Possibly..

https://web.archive.org/web/20140611024200/http://coinmarketcap.com/
(8 billion Ripple coins back then compared to 30 billion Ripple coins now)

2 months before that:
http://web.archive.org/web/20140405192501/http://coinmarketcap.com/
~100 billion XRP (just like now, see http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/market-cap-by-total-supply/), compared to ~30 billion XRP not at RippleLabs.

Because of that ("OMG Ripple = evil, so many coins + premine!") Gliss implemented a check for distribution values which scrapes web sites. Ripple Labs first put on their page (https://www.ripplelabs.com/xrp-distribution/) that they owned 80 billion XRP and handed out ~8 billion of these (June: http://web.archive.org/web/20140625224750/https://www.ripplelabs.com/xrp-distribution/), this is what Gliss put on his page. Some time later RippleLabs put on their page that they owned 80 billion XRP of all 100 billion XRP, handed out ~9 billion and don't own ~29 billion of all the XRP (October: http://web.archive.org/web/20141007095332/https://www.ripplelabs.com/xrp-distribution/) - hence the spike in "market cap of coins in circulation".

525  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Opinion: Why Ripple/XRP Doubled In Value in Less Than A Week on: November 24, 2014, 09:46:07 PM
I am unsure actually where to discuss Ripple. Every time I try to start a discussion here, it gets flooded by "gtfo shill" posters, if you try to discuss Ripple, not XRP you still get moved to Altcoin-hell and I seriously dislike XRPTalk...

On the other hand this makes Ripple even more "obscure", people think they know more about Ethereum or Open Transactions than a decentralized exchange that runs for nearly 2 years now. Maybe stackexchange might work? Undecided
526  Economy / Exchanges / Re: [OFFICIAL]Bitfinex.com first Bitcoin P2P lending platform for leverage trading on: November 24, 2014, 09:28:10 PM
Secondly, is there any way you could add your own FRR calculation to your bot? For example, could I either create or modify a bot that simply duplicates the current FRR calculation and offers at that rate?

It is really hard, if not impossible, to calculate the FRR from publicly available data unfortunately.
527  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Opinion: Why Ripple/XRP Doubled In Value in Less Than A Week on: November 24, 2014, 09:25:52 PM
Coinmarketcap used to look like this:
http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/views/market-cap-by-total-supply/

Since people complained that "premined" coins are overinflated and only publicly available amounts should be displayed, the default page was switched to "Market Cap by Available Supply" (See the dropdown menu when you click on "Currencies").

It is a bit saddening that it is still quite hard to have an actual discussion about Ripple on Bitcointalk without having to explain fundamentals (and threads getting derailed or at least trolled). Also, while XRP is a currency, I personally do not particularly recommend anyone to buy more than you'd need to run an account (which amounts to less than the cost of 1 Starbucks Latte of Mr. Karpeles). If you want to speculate on its value, as already said numerous times in this thread: There are REALLY big whales like Ripple Labs out there that hold several times more than what's on the market right now. If that still doesn't scare you - trade away I guess?!

I see the utility of Ripple not in XRP, they are one of the more boring parts actually. Unfortunately it's hard to talk about the more exciting ones, as a lot of people around here seem to be more fixed upon the idea of Platform == Currency (which doesn't even really apply to Bitcoin). Sad
528  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Opinion: Why Ripple/XRP Doubled In Value in Less Than A Week on: November 24, 2014, 08:48:01 PM
Ripple is not a currency its just a Payment Protocol. So why we are even talking about Ripple in Altcoin Discussion ?

Because every time you even mention Ripple outside of Altcoin Discussion, threads get moved here by mods. This leads to further confusion of course, since a lot of people view Ripple (the platform) synonymously with XRP (the currency). You amongst them probably, judging from your (slightly confused) answers.

BTC don't hold value either by the way, other than their utility. Wink

Feature request (hopefully not too hard to implement):
CSV download made available for the swap related lists in "History" tabs, notably "Margin Swaps" (https://www.bitfinex.com/account/margin_swaps) and "Unused Swaps" (https://www.bitfinex.com/account/unused_swaps).
534  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: [ANN] MarginBot - A Bitfinex Margin Lending Management Bot on: November 22, 2014, 11:28:45 AM
Just to make sure: My returns are mostly but not purely FRR 30 day autolend - about 10-15% are fixed rate.

I decided to publish a bit more data (again: mostly, but NOT purely FRR!) to be able to average out a bit more. Would it be possible to use a bit more lightwheight backend for your bot? I don't want to have to configure and run a whole mySQL database just for a handful of values...

Anyways, here are my returns in % for interest (calculated as before: interest received / balance AFTER receiving interest) since June (as you said, you have ~5 months of data) - USD only (It would be interesting to see this bot on BTC btw.):

[Again: From time to time there can be quite heavy manual intervention in there, this is NOT 100% representative of 30 day FRR autolend, but I would call it relatively low maintenance mode - checking rates maybe once every few days to decide if I continue autolending]

Would be cool to get this kind of data by other bot authors by the way... it is really easy to produce, doesn't leak any info (do you lend 1000 USD or 100k? Percentages don't really care unless you run it with very low amounts that can't be put on the books).

You can speculate on nearly everything these days that can be bought or sold for money. That doesn't mean these things are good stores of value or means of exchange.

Everybody (including companies) is quite free to choose what they invest in or speculate upon.

Exactly.

Get history_USD, filter by Description "Swap Payment on wallet deposit", divide Balance by Amount and multiply by 100, then add another column for the date (I just used the date the interest was paid). Since the percentages were relatively small, I used 5 digits after the comma for no real reason.

%/day would be great, I'll look into parsing the csv files...

Edit: Done. I'm not sure if I did more manual work a few months back, but recently I mostly tried (when I thought FRR might go down further) to have whatever is available in some fixed rates if I got around to set some (every 2 days or so), the rest ran on "autopilot". Here's the swap payment data for November, depending on how you view "days", it could be one day off.

Since a mail by an address of the account owner seems to be enough to get rid of 2FA, please look into various ways to spoof this (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_spoofing) - hopefully you are aware that it is fairly trivial to send convincingly looking mail from any address...
