Gibt's in Deutschland mittlerweile nicht eh diesen "e-personalausweis" mit dem man ein qualifiziertes Zertifikat für Signaturen immer dabei hat? In Österreich zumindest gibt's z.B. die Bürgerkarte, mit der man rechtsverbindlich signieren kann. Wer da das Ding + PIN jemandem gibt um irgendwelches Internetgeld zu bekommen, hat schnell andere + größere Probleme (z.B. kann man das auch bei Banken zum Unterschreiben von Überweisungen verwenden).

Wenn sowas exisiterendes NICHT verwendet werden soll, ist's wirklich schwer - eventuell könntest du über Mobiltelefone + Netzwerkanalyse Doppelidentitäten aufdecken (z.B. muss man dann alle seine Kontaktdaten mit hochladen und damit kannst du eine Plausibilitätsprüfung machen). Wenn auch noch solche Daten geheim bleiben sollen, dann wird's ganz schwer, selbst DNA kann man recht leicht einfach beim Friseur am Boden finden bzw. Fingerabdrücke im Gasthaus oder per Kamera und auch Irisscans sind mit guten Kameras hundertfach auf der Straße möglich.

Es gibt quasi keine mir bekannten "internen" eindeutigen Merkmale, die schwer kopierbar aber trotzdem einmalig, unveränderlich und leicht abrufbar sind. Möglich wäre noch ein referral-based Ansatz, bei dem man eben auch bestraft wird, wenn man einen Fakeaccount empfiehlt.

Ich hatte auch schon mal die Idee, eine Art "Lebenszeitcoin" zu entwickeln (z.B. man gibt den Geburtstag an und erhält dann einen Coin für jeden Tag seitdem) um mal zu sehen, wie sich das entwickelt. Allerdings findet man dann schnell heraus, dass selbst Behörden dann immer wider Probleme haben, zu wissen wer wer ist und ob diese Person überhaupt existiert. Ein biometrisches oder sonstiges Merkmal um eine eindeutige ID auf (Fern-)Abruf und 100% zugehörig zu genau einem Menschen zu finden ist eine recht große Aufgabe.

Bitcoin hat diese Verteilungsproblem einfach umgangen, indem angenommen wurde, dass jeder Mensch mehr oder weniger gleichen Zugang zu Rechenleistung haben kann. In der Praxis hilft das natürlich Leuten, die schon viel Geld hatten und sich daher bessere CPUs/GPUs/FPGAs/ASICs leisten können, aber die Grundidee ist immer noch "jeder kann sich irgendwie Rechenleistung kaufen, und daher Bitcoins bekommen". Was man auf Exchanges kauft ist ja dann ein Nebengeschäft (z.B. um die Rechenleistung zu finanzieren), in Bitcoin selbst ist ja nicht mal ein Marktplatz eingebaut.

Naja, betreiben kannst du ihn schon auch so, ich nehme an du meinst "Um als Validator Einfluss zu haben...".

Gleich wie jeder einfach Bitcoin-QT laufen lassen kann, aber damit nur sehr beschränkten Einfluss (welche Transaktionen/Blöcke leite ich meinen Nachbarn weiter) hat, kann auch jeder rippled (auch als Validator) laufen lassen, kann damit aber erst den Zustand des Netzwerks beeinflussen, wenn andere Leute einen in ihre "Unique Node List" aufnehmen. In Bitcoin wäre es nur möglich auf Transaktionen Einfluss zu nehmen, wenn man mining betreibt (und zwar nur dann, wenn man einen Pool verwendet, der einem das auch erlaubt - wie p2pool - ODER eben solomining).

Klar gibt es eine Konsenskomponente in Bitcoin, allerdings wird die durch Mining sichergetellt, nicht durch lokalen Konsens unter benachbarten Knoten, die man sich frei aussuchen kann (und bei denen man darauf achten muss, dass weniger als 80% von denen von der selben Entität kontrolliert werden).

Irgendwie scheint der Autor "Bitcoin days destroyed" mit Umlaufgeschwindigkeit zu verwechseln... die Metrik ist SEHR spezifisch und hat mit Umlaufgeschwindigkeit wenig zu tun.

Richtig, Ripple basiert auf Konsensus um double spending zu verhindern - dabei muss man darauf achten, möglichst unterschiedliche (und nicht im Geheimen von der selben Entität kontrollierte) Peers zu haben, die einem sagen, wie sie Transaktionen anordnen würden. Wenn dann eine absolute Mehrheit von (ich glaube) 80% das gleich sieht, wird der aktuelle Ledger geschlossen und man fängt von vorne an. Gibt auch ein Video dazu.

Transaktionen sind sehr ähnlich wie in Bitcoin, eher sogar noch "dümmer" (Transaktionen sind keine Skripte, sondern eben Transaktionen wie z.B. "A schickt X an B").

Ripple hat fortlaufende Ledger, die über eine Hashkette in ihren Headern zusammenhängen, insofern schon eine "chain". Allerdings hat man in jedem Ledger nur den aktuellen Zustand aller Konten + alle Transaktionen seit dem letzten Ledger gespeichert, in Bitcoinland wäre das ein "fully pruned UTXO set" + aktueller Block. Vorteil ist, dass ein Server eben wirklich nur die paar MB von einem aktuellen Ledger braucht um loslegen zu können, ältere Ledger werden entweder verworfen oder mit der Zeit nachgeladen.

Die Idee von Ripple ist es, quasi die ultimative und universale "Webwallet" zu sein - man kann darin alle beliebigen Währungen und Sachen abbilden. Brauchen tut man das, weil man Bargeld etc. noch nicht beamen kann...

If you don't understand why fully pruned nodes with cryptographic proof in the chain headers are much worse than SPV (since they won't need to rely on full history nodes) are MUCH worse for the network centralization wise, you can go on and spread your rants and complaints to yourself.

I would love to see fater developments too, but as you can see, even if you pay someone a few 10k USD (as happened in the thread I linked) they will still rather ask for more than producing workable code. If you want to see development work done on pruning, please read the thread I linked and "donate" to his funding goal, develop yourself or hire someone else/better to do this.

Sorry, but if you want to run Bitcoin-QT on a local machine, it will be easily able to handle the few GB (current computer games are MUCH larger) of space and traffic. Otherwise you can also use prominently featured lighter clients like Electrum or Multibit.

Currently the block size limit is ~1 MB, which gives a constant hard cap of about 55-60 GB of transaction data per year. If a loan is even taken for 1 minute I should be paid interest for 1 hour per the rules. If that doesn't happen, I loose out - I don'T see how there should be a "break even" point.

Also on the other hand, due to the low frequency that auto-lend seems to post new loans once funds become available, taking a loan for 1 minute can mean that there are several hours where my loan offer will not be reposted and not available to be taken. All this for free.

Edit: This could be a viable tactic to drive up loan rates by the way - borrow funds for a few seconds and hope that the ones lending out were using auto-lend or even worse are posting manually. While I still find it horrible that loans above 365% won't be considered and require manual intervention, this potential for manipulation is still not nice in my opinion.

A tip for people "trying out" the lending feature: If you have no idea what to do, use the flash rate. If you know what you do, you can earn about 0.8%-0.9% per day on USD loans.

Well, you can just auto-lend, but please check current rates from time to time, it makes 0 sense to auto-lend at less than 150-200% at current rates. I regularly get 364.99% loans filled (yes, they are for significant amounts of money too, not just 10 USD).

I'd love to see confirmation that loans will ALWAYS be charged interest by the way, so far it seems interest gets calculated on all open lonas randomly about every 10 minutes or so, people who do a bit of experimentation might be able to have short time positions that don't pay interest at all. On the other hand it often takes ages until auto-lend triggers, especially problematic as you need to use auto-lend for anything below 100 USD (it is hard for me to get above 100 USD in interest per day).
