What is the website for waves where you could check how many waves you currently have in a waves address?  Also I believe that same site also shows the amount of waves you earn from staking each week as well?

Is it this site?

https://wavesexplorer.com/

You just copy and paste and your waves address to it and it would show current balance and balance history and also any amount of waves you earned from staking each week?  Or is it another website?
162  Other / Archival / Re: Ledger Live Update? on: August 29, 2023, 07:30:54 AM
Is there any issue updating ledger live from all the way old version 2.57 to 2.66 though?  I haven't updated it in months so it is an older version.  The reason for that was because of those ledger news so I didn't bother.

Well isn't the ledger recovery only for nano ledger x (optional)?  I have the nano ledger s plus.

Didn't they change their policy with the ledger recovery though?

163  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Recovery - Send your (encrypted) recovery phrase to 3rd parties entities on: August 29, 2023, 07:12:56 AM
Haven't updated ledger live in a while.  Still using version 2.57 and current version is now 2.66.

Am using a nano ledger s plus.

Any issue doing the ledger live update directly from the ledger live app on the top right though?  Reason is because it's been a long time since I did an update so would it not work and it require me to do update directly from ledger site?  Also, does the ledger live update do the ledger recovery?  Do you need to not allow it or what happens here?
164  Other / Archival / Ledger Live Update? on: August 29, 2023, 07:09:55 AM
Haven't updated ledger live in months.  Am still using ledger live 2.57.0.  The current ledger live is 2.66.

Do I just update it from ledger live in the top right and it should update it without any issue?  Or because it's a much older version of ledger live, there would be issues and I have to download it directly from ledger site?  I remember a long time ago, there was an instance where if your ledger live was older than so and so version... you had to download ledger live manually from ledger website because it wouldn't download the update correctly from ledger live.  Also is there anything you need to do during the update because I recall there was that service ledger introduced which most people did not want to do.

Am using a nano ledger s plus.

165  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Ledger Live Update? on: July 15, 2023, 06:02:05 AM
I'm still using the older version of ledger live 2.57.0 and haven't updated it in months.

I heard the latest ledger live update, ledger live 2.62.2 has issues?  Can anyone confirm this?

Any issue with connecting your nano ledger s plus to your laptop while still using the old ledger live 2.57.0 version or you should update first to 2.62.2 and then connect your nano ledger s plus to it?  Or it doesn't matter unless you are planning to do a transaction?
166  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Nano Ledger Case? on: May 11, 2023, 09:49:45 PM
What do you use to store your nano ledger s, s plus or x or do most of you just put it out there on your desk like a usb flash drive or inside a drawer in your desk?  Ledger sells a case but not only is it expensive, reviews say overprice and it's not that good?  Also what about you people that travel a lot with it and move around a lot with your ledger?  What case you use?  Or you just put it in your bag compartment?  What about a ziplog bag?  Or that isn't good because it might get humid?

Saw amazon and there are several that has decent reviews.  Anyone here bought any of these?

Also, couldn't you buy on amazon one of those earbud or usb pouch cases and just use one of those instead?  However, what about the temperature?  Now if's it's closed up, any concern of humidity?  So your apartment or house is humid, then what?
167  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / How to check nano ledger s plus is genuine? on: May 05, 2023, 08:35:26 PM
Already read the information on ledger site but that is if you set up the nano ledger with ledger live.  Let you say you create a new seed without ledger live opened or logged in.

Now if you got a replacement device and plan to restore your seed in it, if you want to create a new useless seed and then reset the device, how you check it it's genuine?  Assume your ledger live in your laptop is still intact.

Can others here confirm this would be the way?

1.  Connect new nano ledger s plus to laptop with ledger live unopened and not logged in.

2.  Create a new pin, then get a new useless seed phrase you don't need.

3.  Now open ledger live and login ledger live

4.  Click on the my ledger tab on ledger live?  Then click on allow device on your nano ledger s ledger screen?  Now if that works, that is your device is genuine?

5.  Close ledger live

HCP, i got my new nano ledger s plus with me now.

Can you or anyone else help me with this process?  You helped me few years ago and i appreciate it.

What i believe i did few years ago was when getting a new nano ledger s, i didn't restore my phrase like how they suggest you to do.  Pretty sure i set it up as new device, then created new pin, got a new seed phrase which i had no use for... wrote that new seed down anyways, then enter wrong pin 3 times.  Then went to restore my old nano ledger s recovery seed and that worked.  Also when i did it this way, i was able to check if my device is genuine before i input my old seed phrase.  You and others recommend this?
169  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Restoring Nano Ledger S Passphrase In New Nano Ledger S Plus on: May 04, 2023, 05:25:49 PM
The last time i did the seed phrase recovery was few years ago with an old nano ledger s with a new nano ledger s.  Got a new nano ledger s plus and want to do the same thing.

I am confused why in almost every youtube video, they don't do the ledger genuine check before the put their seed phrase.  That seem to be done afterward which makes zero sense.

Also do you need to log in ledger live before you plug in the nano ledger s plus into it.  Also some people say you don't even need to connect it to laptop... just a wall socket which i never heard of ever.  What i want is where can i find easy to follow instructions on restoring seed phrase.  Most videos omit or fast forward important parts or don't even say log in ledger live account or not.  My ledger live is still in my laptop so want to know exact steps i should do.
170  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Restoring Nano Ledger S Passphrase In New Nano Ledger S Plus on: May 04, 2023, 03:34:07 AM
Also as a security precaution, should one set up the new nano ledger s plus device as new?  Then you write down the new seed phrase even though you don't need it.

Then you enter pin wrong 3 times.  That resets your nano ledger s plus.

Then you go to restore from seed phrase and then enter your old nano ledger s seed phrase to restore?  Or is that completely unnecessary?  As oppose to directly restoring the seed phrase?
171  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Restoring Nano Ledger S Passphrase In New Nano Ledger S Plus on: May 04, 2023, 03:33:50 AM
Are these the proper steps here?

1.  Log in my ledger live and shows all accounts.

2.  Connect my new nano ledger s plus in laptop usb a port.  But when i do this, since it's a new device isn't it going to ask if i want to create a new seed, or restore seed phrase or connect it to laptop say if i was installing ledger live again.  I know there are 3 total options when you connect a new ledger to a laptop.

3.  Choose recovery phrase and enter the seed phrase?  Then it it's correct, it will ask you to create a pin number for it?  Got to assume this happens after seed recovery words are entered as before to before?
But when does the check ledger is genuine occur?

The thing is if i had to install ledger live all over again, this wouldn't seem that complicated as that would be like setting up the nano ledger s plus for the 1st time.

Anyone can tell me if the 1st few steps are even correct?  The confusing thing here is some videos say you can just power it on without connecting to anything which makes zero sense.  Unless they mean the nano ledger x only which is bluetooth?  Make no sense you can enter your recovery phrase on your new nano ledger s plus while it isn't connected to a laptop.
172  Other / Beginners & Help / Restoring Nano Ledger S Passphrase In New Nano Ledger S Plus on: May 04, 2023, 03:32:54 AM
Posted this in other subforum but not getting many replies so want to also post it here.  My nano ledger s has a screen issue and i bought a nano ledger s plus.  Have not opened the box yet but have the device.  The only time i restored my seed phrase was few years ago with the old nano ledger s with a new same nano ledger s.  This time it will be with a nano ledger s plus.

When i went online to check for videos on this, the issue is either they are using an old nano ledger s to restore or a nano ledger x.  They do say you could also do the same with any device but I prefer it to look exactly the same.  Also they are not very direct as 1 or 2 videos, the person mentioned if you want to restore a seed, just click either the left or right button to power on and restore?  That makes no sense because doesn't the nano ledger s plus require it to be connected to laptop?  But if not, connected to something first?  Also the order they are doing it make no sense... say enter you seed phrase and if correct, it show processed?  Then they mention to do the ledger genuine test?  That make no sense because shouldn't that be done before you plug the nano ledger s plus in your laptop in the first place?  Many videos seem so skip important steps or make assumptions that they think people know.

Now my ledger live program still remains the same on my laptop.  But after you enter the seed phrase and say it shows it's correct, shouldn't you delete the accounts you have on ledger live first and then reinstall them again to make sure the seed you entered matches the accounts shown on ledger live?  You notice how some people say it doesn't for them and that was because they have several seeds so one so the accounts showing on ledger live won't match the seed.  One video said if your ledger live was untouched on your laptop, all you have to do is go to the accounts where you have a balance on... so say it's btc and bch, just go to each one of them and click receive, once you do that, it not only installs the btc app on your new nano ledger s plus, but it would also display a btc receiving address on your nano ledger s plus screen and once it does and you confirm it is same btc address, then the seed you used is linked to the correct accounts.  Then do this with bch and any other accounts.  Can others here confirm this method?  Or better to just manually install the apps?  Because after doing that, you can click on receive on each app just to verify the receiving address on the accounts is indeed linked to that seed you entered?  So nobody here deletes their accounts on ledger live before doing the seed phrase recovery?  Or say even after the seed phrase recovery, delete your accounts and then re add them?

There was another time i restored my ledger live only when i got a new laptop.  Had to download ledger live and add accounts and it was there.  This was much simpler as there were few videos that showed exactly how to do this step by step.  Also it was with a same replacement nano ledger s.  That is much simpler than restoring your seed phrase on new device.

Has anyone here bought specifically a new nano ledger s plus and used it to restore the seed phrase from a nano ledger s?  Now if so, can you answer my questions?  There is no video on youtube that shows the exact steps here as some don't even mention if the nano s plus was connected to laptop or not before they start entering the seed phrase.  And when they show them entering a seed phrase first and then check the device is genuine makes no sense.  Anyone can list the exact first steps here or show me a video on youtube for this?  Most of the videos are not clear and the omit few parrts.  Thank you.

1.  Am i suppose to have ledger live opened and logged in during this process or not?

2.  How come you don't do the genuine check till after you restore the seed?

Can someone post the step as simple as possible?  None of the youtube videos show every step 1 by 1.  All they say is connect the nano ledger but zero mention of is your ledger live logged in or not.  Then bit later, they move on to ledger live after your restore yet didn't even tell you when they logged in ledger live.

Okay so i read more on this.  So shouldn't the best way to do this would be

Connect the nano ledger s plus as a new device?  That way it does a genuine check.  You create a new pin.  Get a new seed phrase.  You write that seed phrase down anyways even though you don't plan to use it.  Then you input pin wrong 3 times.  Now you go and put in recovery phrase and enter your old nano ledger s seed to restore?  So this way you would be able to get the genuine check first before you enter your recovery seed phrase?  That doesn't even seem right you enter your recovery phrase without checking it's genuine first?

But when doing this, would you be creating a brand new ledger live account?  Or would you be logged in your current ledger live account?  Why has there been no thread here about something like this?  Restoring seed phrase without checking genuine doesn't seem good?
174  Other / Beginners & Help / Restoring Seed Phrase Security Question On New Hardware Wallet on: May 03, 2023, 10:18:57 PM
Posted this in other subforum but not getting many replies so want to also post it here.  Say you have to get a new nano ledger s plus or x and say you have the seed to restore.  You then restore it on your laptop while connected to it and use ledger live with it.

1.  Now if your laptop has malware or keylogger or anything like that, could the malware somehow read your seed when you enter it into the new nano ledger screen to restore??  Now what if you have malware in your bios?  Always heard bios malware is the worst?  Always heard because of the firmware of the nano ledger,  it protects your seed phrase and when sending and worst case is they change the btc address you sending to but you are the one to confirm or deny the transaction.  However, does the firmware protect you when you enter your seed phrase to restore in a new nano ledger device?

2.  What about if you have malware in say your usb a ports on your laptop or even a usb a port hub that might been compromised and you connect your nano ledger s plus into it that way?  Imagine your laptop has 0 or 1 usb a port... as many of you are aware many laptops nowadays only have usb-c ports so you have to buy one of those port hubs that give you 1, 4 or 7 or even more usb a ports.  I'm sure you all know what usb a port hubs I am talking about?  Such that your laptop has 0 or 1 usb a ports but you need more usb a ports so you connect one of those.  Thus for your mouse, keyboard etc.  Or say you were to connect one of those thunderbolt docks since those give more usb a ports.  Now is there any security issue if you connect your new nano ledger s plus or x into a usb a port hub that possibly was compromised or not?  My thinking was it won't affect if you are connecting your nano ledger s plus or x to it as long you verify the btc address you are sending to... but what about if you are restoring your seed?  Any way your laptop usb a ports or the port hub or even thunderbolt dock if compromised could read each seed phrase as you are typing each one by one?  Or firmware protects you from that?

3.  Thought i read somewhere it's possible if the nano ledger s plus cable is compromised but also your usb a or usb c ports on your laptop need to as well or not?  But i am specifically talking about when you restore your
seed on a new nano ledger s plus or x and have it connected to your laptop as i feel that has the most threat because that is when you are entering your seed?  But as long as the nano ledger s plus is genuine and the nano ledger s plus cable is genuine, you are fine?  Or someone put something in your usb a or usb c ports, there would be issue?  Such as imagine someone manipulated your usb a or c port on your laptop or even gave you one of those port hubs for more usb a or c ports to use.  Any safety issue with this whether restoring the seed or using it?  For some reason, i feel there is vulnerability when entering the seed if these usb a ports are somehow compromised?  But a fake cable could somehow compromise?  But as long as your nano ledger s plus or x is geniune and so is the cable that as provided by ledger, it doesn't matter if any of your usb a ports or the usb port a hub or thunderbolt dock is compromised somehow?  Again my concern in all this when you are entering your seed on the nano ledger one word at a time.
Rest
175  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Restoring New Nano Ledger With Seed Phrase Security Question on: May 03, 2023, 09:37:19 PM
Yes i get what you mean by that.  But since almost everyone is using a genuine ledger after ledger live confirms it... well if any peripheral devices could have any security issues, would that be a possible problem?

My main concern is when you enter your seed phrase during the restore process, and most people will be connecting their nano ledger s plus to the laptop and using ledger live, many some others won't be connecting that usb a cable provided by ledger directly to their laptop and have to use one of those 4 or 7 or 10 port hubs that are usb a because their laptop might not even have 1 usb a port.  Or say they use a thunderbolt dock to connect the usb a device.

So there is zero concern of this?  So you telling me if let say someone knows you have a nano ledger and you going to buy a new one or restore an old one with the phrase, has access to your port hub or thunderbolt dock and let say they know you ordered a new nano ledger to restore your seed, there is no way someone compromise any of the usb a ports whether it's on your laptop, port hub, or even a thunderbolt hub and it read the seed after you manually enter each seed word each time?  Or imagine you picked up a usb a port hub somewhere or friend gave it to you.  Those are still safe?  Heard about how back in the days, people would intentionally drop usb drives on the floor and anyone that connect it to their laptop would get malware on their computer.  But this is much different?  Certainly someone could compromise all or some usb a ports on a port hub or thunderbolt dock if they wanted to?  But it won't affect anything with nano ledger?  But if it's connecting a mouse or keyboard or regular flash drive, that's a different story?

Also you have to connect the nano ledger s plus to your laptop and use ledger live during the restore process right?

Has there been any case like what i described?

Hey.  Don't have any repair experience  They don't do repairs at all.

Well sending my device to them is definitely not what i want since if i send my nano ledger s to them, they reset it then that won't be good.  Make sense to just get a new hardware wallet.  Thing is i want to stay with ledger since i'm familiar with it.  You agree based on this?  But most people agree this is for sure a screen issue right?  Only other thing i thought was maybe connect to another usb a port on my laptop or no way that could be the cause?  Or what about not having updated my btc, bch and btg apps in a long time but particularly the bch and btg which are 2kb on my nano ledger s but now appears to be 36kb each?  Also i can't even update all 3 apps at once because not enough space since i have another app installed and that app never had updates.  So even if i remove btg app, then update btc and bch, there is no way this should fix the screen right?

Never had a backup device but get what you mean by that.  However, i also don't want to be in a position where my nano ledger s won't even power on etc.  Based on people experiences, if your screen has issues, does it eventually not turn on?  Example my first nano ledger s got a dim screen.  Months later it didn't even turn on etc.  Haven't even touched that old nano ledger anymore.  But would a replacement screen possibly work for that older nano ledger s or not?  And eventually this nano ledger s im using now will eventually not power on anymore right because it already has these screen issues.
178  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Nano Ledger S Horizontal Line Screen Issue on: May 01, 2023, 09:21:09 PM
The short version is: your screen is buggered, you need a new device or screen.

Given you dislike of uncertainty and "new things", your options are:

1. Contact Ledger support and see if they'll replace the unit
2. If they won't replace it, see if you can get a discount on a new device from them
3. If they won't do a discount on a new device, then buy a new one full price
4. Buy a BIP39 compatible device from a different manufacturer

I do not recommend that you fiddle about with replacement screen options unless you have prior experience with electronics repair. It isn't exactly a super complicated process (as seen on this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hnJKEoBHZdY) and doesn't require soldering anything, but it isn't "changing a light bulb" easy.

Having said that, if the device is basically non functional, and Ledger won't replace (or provide a substantial discount) then spending a few dollars on a replacement screen from aliexpress might be worth a try as you're really got nothing left to lose at that point. You just need to ensure you buy the 12pin version of the screen (there are 8pin, 12pin and 14pin variants)

HCP thank you for your reply.   Was hoping you would respond as you helped me a while back with this.

Yes seem like getting new device should be what i do so wanted people opinion on this.  No experience with electronic repair.

Can you check the message i just sent you now?  Thank you so much man.

Yea the thing is not for sure the seed is correct.  So that is why getting a new hardware wallet seem to be the best idea.  The thing is if the current nano ledger s won't 'turn on, that would make the situation worst.

The thing is if i were to try to send btc from my current nano ledger s right now, i am pretty certain when it ask me to confirm the btc address and everything, it would be real hard to read the screen.  Like you probably could only try to read the bottom half of each letter and number... does that make sense?  Pretty sure about this because when trying to confirm a hash for another coin that uses the nano ledger s but have to use a 3rd party wallet... imagine a coin that doesn't work with ledger live directly... well the has was basically unreadable almost.  You could only look at the bottom half of each letter and number but it's real hard.  So you still recommend that?  The only other method would be then buy a replacement screen but isn't there a risk of damaging the device as well?  So sending the btc while you can't make out the btc address still be method you choose before replace nano screen?  Again, there is very good chance i would damage the screen replacing it

Yea the air gap computer is way out of my level.  Well the thing is im familiar with how ledger and ledger live works.  So shouldn't i stick with it for now?  Well isn't trezor one not that secure?  But the trezor T is?  They no longer sell the nano s anymore... just nano s plus or the nano x.  But the last thing i want to do now is have my current nano s not power on correct?  So get new wallet first?
