With the new difficulty level, we desperatly need more hashpower, when does cloudhashing is supposed to join us ?

This is why I had to leave, with a low rate you get stuck on bad blocks for too long. If you have a high hash rate then the bad blocks are over faster giving you more chances for good luck.

You only have less variance in a bigger pool. No advantage in the long run.

If you have 24 hours in a day and it takes 12 hours for each block you only have 2 chances in that 24 hours to find blocks. If you have 3 times the hash rate and find blocks every 4 hours you have more chances to make blocks in a 24 hour period. Making blocks quickly is important when the dif is going up every 10 days.

I'm confused. Is the high bid 20.25 or 30?

It's 30 at the moment.

For those wondering if CloudHashing is getting ASICs from other places than BFL, the second banner in the rotation at https://www.kncminer.com/ can be interesting. Tongue

So it looks like September earliest for them, hopefully they don't pull a BFL and actually ship on time. So it looks like cloudhashing is a bit of a ways out still. The longer they take to get to market the happier I am as a miner because those are some serious numbers.

... additionally, how no idea how to power the AM blades :| I'm terrified of stripping electrical wiring :|

It's very simple to get going.  Just take an adapter you have lying around like a molex to SATA adapter, cut it in half, strip the cable back a couple millimeters, then insert the copper into the green terminal block.  2 minutes to make a little adapter then you can use any PC power supply.

Ok. Sounds easy enough. Emailed friedcat to order a single blade.

So I just connect the molex adapter to a power supply, strip two of the wires and plug it into the blade, set up Slush's Stratum proxy to point at Bitminter, and I'm ready to go, in theory ?

Don't forget you need to jumpstart your PSU with a paper clip inserted into the 24pin connector. You need to make a bridge with the clip between the green cable and a black one.

Hoo boy...what is this shit? Have issues frequently since last night. My miner always switches back to low clock after he couldnīt contact the pool.

Hope the guys from BitMinter fix that issues soon, otherwhise I could start thinking about to change pool.  Undecided

Do you have a local stratum server running on your network or are you using the mints? Local stratum servers work best with the blades, maybe this will help with you clock problem. I run a stratum locally and dont have the problem and my blades are always busy running at 13 g\hash.

This seems to be a flaky pool with a lot of downtime... Can anyone recommend a more reliable alternative?

BTCGUILD has been finding blocks fast and they use PPLNS for dedicated miners as well. For part time miners they have a PPS option but with some hefty fees.

PPS is starting to get tempting at this difficulty. I'm torn between investing in ASIC hardware to keep up in the hash rate wars or just playing the currency  Sad

The current state of mining feels like chasing the dragon and just pumping more BTC into the big players for more hardware to try and keep up. When will the hash rate level out? All this arms race does is increase the hardware and electricity costs for everyone except those producing the chips.

My goal was to try and get to the top 25 in the mint and keep my position there by reinvesting all mining profits but the more I consider this I think I will just make my losses larger.

Playing the market is quick without having to babysit a farm, there sure were some nice swings yesterday. So conflicted right now!
1012  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Question for GPU miners on: June 09, 2013, 03:36:03 PM
I will keep my GPU's on until they are loosing me money, even at the current difficulty I am still making decent money off GPU's. I think if you want to be in the BTC mining game you need to get ASIC asap and keep reinvesting your BTC's in growing your farm to keep up with the hash rate. Eventually things will level out, it's in no ones interest to keep driving it up everyone looses out it the long run due to the increased cost of doing business (power and space) which is universal.

I wonder what LTC will do when GPU mining is no longer feasible for mining BTC

1016  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Why so complicated to buy Bitcoins from Canada on: June 08, 2013, 04:23:42 AM
CA virtex is great for converting BTC to CDN, EFT deposit is nice and fast. It is harder to buy BTC, I don't like all the info you have to give. It gives me incentive to mine more so I don't have to buy BTC with fiat.

litecoin would be nice for those GPU miners that love your pool and can't keep up in the ASIC arms race.
