241  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: September 04, 2017, 11:59:56 AM
Sometimes it seems like there is somewhere a prize out for proving that some coin is a scam. I read the arguments from both sides and it is even really difficult to tell if any of the sides is actually right because the arguments go very emotional instead of being rational. It would be nice to actually have some kind of objective 3rd party who is accepted by most and analyzes and gather info and gives an opinion or states what to watch out for. This pile of FUD is really not helping anyone in my opinion.

I'm as objective as I can be whenever there's a genuine concern raised.

Here's a question from the official DO forum regarding price speculation that I've answered earlier today.

"It's curious because all the predictions are always high predictions. I mean, nobody predicts something negative. So I think that these predictions are not predictions, are wishes or dreams. Maybe I'm wrong, I'd like to be wrong"

Answer:

"That's definitely the right way for you to think to stay safe in crypto. Always be hypercritical and overly paranoid when it comes to investing money.

As far as the DO price is concerned, there is only one reasonable scenario under which the price would drop into oblivion and not at least stay stable within a $1 to $10 range. That scenario would be satisfied if Dev turned out to be a scammer who doesn't actually develop new features for the coin and just tried to set up a very elaborate marketing scheme. However, based on the amount of effort that has gone into this project so far, and based on the fact that Dev is clearly capable of coding sophisticated mechanisms (for Airdrop control etc), it is quite unlikely that this coin would just flatout die and disappear. The chance is not zero, but it's very low.

The earliest date at which we can get additional evidence for the legitimacy of this project is Q4 2017, which is when DeepSend is planned to be implemented. If Dev delivers DeepSend and/or other features on time, it will be a very strong indicator for his long-term dedication to this project. At that time, the price will be very likely to increase quite a lot though.
With that said, it is currently a gamble if you choose to buy DO. At current prices a reasonable 3 year return is in a x10-x100+ range. Once DeepSend gets implemented, your returns get cut down drastically since they will already price in the lowered risk level.
DeepSend itself could easily propel the price to a stable $5 to $10++, which would be almost x10 from current prices in half a year.

In my opinion, the stakes are in favour of DeepOnion and of profits, but you never know what will really happen, so make sure you don't invest more than you can afford to lose. "

As far as the scam accusation against DO goes. The biggest "argument" the accusers have is the fact that there are a few very big addresses in the rich list. However, dev has been transparent about this from the very start. As long as he pays out on schedule, there definitely is no scam. And so far he has done this.
Shouting scam when it's far from being decided is just plain dishonest and scummy behaviour and no legitimate person would claim an outright scam instead of urging for caution instead in this kind of situation.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: September 04, 2017, 11:55:48 AM
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is ...
A lot of people would say that about Bitcoin. Or about the stock market. Or about reality in general.

Most people follow catch phrases and base their entire life around them. And it's exactly those people who miss out on every opportunity that is thrown at them.

Dude.. first of all you are using hacked account. And the second thing is that you are just another PAID SHILL from deeponion scam team. You confessed in your posts that you received more then 1200 onions for scam promotion. So now you can go and F..CK  Y...F
I'm not sure where, other than your ass, you pull out your "facts". But anyone can see in my post history that I have clearly stated that I've gotten 811 Onions from two rounds of Airdrop. This number is available to the public on the DO Dashboard as well.
If receiving an Airdrop is being a "paid shill", then so be it. I even defended it for free for weeks before joining by the way.

Either way, look up the definition of a scam, because this isn't one. Not that you would know, seeing how you can't even check post histories when making up lies.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Deep Onion on: September 04, 2017, 11:30:15 AM
No clue. Can't even get airdrop as old newbie.  Undecided

Y we need to be a Jr. Member at least
I think you need to be at least a Member nowadays. Junior was the original minimum, but that changed eventually because of an excessive amount of account hacks and sales.

245  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Can be $5,000 Again? on: September 04, 2017, 11:26:17 AM
The correct question would be "When will Bitcoin break $5,000 again?". There really is no stopping Bitcoin. We surely could see Bitcoin retracing for months or even a year and longer. However it's extremely unlikely that it wouldn't eventually flip back into a bull market and stampede the $5,000 target.

Don't forget that the market cap of Bitcoin (and cryptos in general) is extremely low considering the potential value. There's little to no doubt that Blockchains will revolutionize most aspects of modern human life in one form or another. It's just a question of when and how (e.g. will governments support it or try to bring it down and thus shoot themselves in the foot).
246  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Good day - Question about cloud mining on: September 03, 2017, 10:30:10 AM
Good day ma'am/sir! I was introduced here by my fellow classmates and friends because we both experienced being scammed in this so called cloud minning. Can anyone help me out please on the things that should i do and things i should not do in here because i am looking forward to earn some money to help myself and my siblings. Thanks in advance for helping out and pardon for i know that this question is frequently asked. If you guys have any suggestion which could help, i am eager to read it and study it if needed.

Welcome to the forums!

My best advice would be: Do not trust anyone, no matter how reputable, smart, nice, or whatever else they may seem. On this forum there are a lot of people who will tell blatant lies to increase the value of their portfolio or to lower the prices of coins that they want to buy. As such, it's a very bad idea to follow a hype.
Don't invest in things you don't understand, don't trade with people on the forum without an escrow (even if they have high activity, there are a lot of stolen and sold accounts).

Furthermore, since it is possible to earn money by joining signature campaigns, there are a lot of people who just spam post in order to get their activity levels up. As such, a lot of the posts on this forum are meaningless and it can be tough to sift through the trash to find a few gems every now and then.

If you choose to invest in Altcoins, do your own research and be very critical. Imagine how a scammer could try to trick you before you make any deals. Do not invest any more than you can afford to lose!
And generally speaking, when you invest make sure you have a plan or strategy before you invest. Prepare for every good and bad scenario and make sure your strategy keeps you safe even in the worst possible event. Then once you've found a strategy that you like, stick to it and don't change. People often get emotional and then start selling/buying when they shouldn't. If your strategy turns out to have been a mistake adapt it for your next investment. Don't just randomly change during an investment though, especially when you're panicing over losing money or missing out.

Either way, good luck.
247  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin: $100K in 2021? on: September 03, 2017, 10:22:16 AM
Quote
Harvard academic and bitcoin investor Dennis Porto believes that, given a few years, it will soar far higher than either of those predictions. In an interview with Business Insider UK, Porto explained that the bitcoin price could reach $100,000 per coin in February 2021 if it follows Moore’s Law, one of the so-called “golden rules of digital technology.”

According to Porto, rapidly growing technologies have a doubling time, meaning that their effectiveness doubles within a consistent, repeatable timeframe. Traditionally, Moore’s law has been applied to computing technology, but Porto says that the bitcoin price has thus far followed the trend by more or less doubling every eight months throughout its history.

Assuming bitcoin continues to follow this golden rule in the near-term, Porto anticipates the bitcoin price will extend beyond $100,000 by February 2021. Using the current BTC supply for simplicity’s sake, this would give bitcoin a market cap of about $1.65 trillion. Needless to say, a $100,000 bitcoin price would thrill today’s investors, assuming they have the fortitude to resist the temptation to sell them.

Source here (the full newsarticle).

I am posting a part of this article here because I am sure that many would be excited to hear about this. So there is a basis for the doubling of value for Bitcoin and Mr. Porto refer to it as the Moore's Law. I am sure that many Bitcoin holders would be happy to know that in 2021 the value can be so high. This can embolden people to hold to their coin and to add more Bitcoin to their arsenal. Never give in to the temptation of selling since the present value is just actually the tip of the iceberg

Bitcoin may surge high

And as high as 100,000 dollars per coin in fact, but that would have nothing to do with Moore's law. The latter is about technology and technological development, and it had solid grounds for its relevance (until recently, at least). If anything, Bitcoin price rise has to do with explosive adoption but the latter is more about medicine and epidemiology since this is how contagious diseases spread out. Anyway, we have already seen Bitcoin price grow 4 times within mere 8 months so Moore's law has already been massively broken
Bitcoin is a technology in a sense. Blockchains in general are pretty much going to follow Moore's law for as long as they live. Keep in mind that Moore's law still largely stays Moore's law if you have different growing coefficients. The underlying message is growth through development.

249  Other / Politics & Society / Re: The world without leaders? on: September 03, 2017, 09:56:42 AM
I'm not so sure if not having a leader would really have a dramatic impact at this point. It doesn't really feel like people care too much about "leaders" in the West to begin with. Although the US keeps turning their elections into a superbowl kind of spectacle...
In either case, I don't really care too much either way. If there were no leaders people would start finding ways to make profit out of keeping cities clean and stuff like that. In places were official law enforcement is literally useless citizens start creating their own "policeforce" as well, so I'm certain it would work out in one way or another. Whether or not that kind of society would be better or not is not something that anybody on this planet could answer though, at least not currently since we don't have any comparisons.
250  Economy / Economics / Re: Three Quarters of The World’s Poor Are “Unbanked” on: September 02, 2017, 02:54:07 PM
It still is relevant. There's still a massive amount of unbanked people to this day. That's also part of what will help propel cryptocurrencies to new heights.

But most importantly, the unbanked will have access to capital and be able to pull themselves out of poverty without having to rely on other countries.

Let's just hope that they'll skip the corruption nonsense and realize that collaboration will make everybody much richer faster.
251  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Crypto crash! It's happening! on: September 02, 2017, 02:47:50 PM
I really can't see a major crash happening. We're slowly reaching the point where the amount of fresh investors in crypto is getting so large, that dumps will be start being set off. Safest to just hodl promising coins instead of missing the train when it comes to the strong coins.
252  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: elite picklist for alts 2 buy in august on: September 02, 2017, 02:41:22 PM
Do you know what Walton is about? I can't really find an English version of anything, but it seems like it could be interesting.
253  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: How much will DeepOnion be worth? on: September 02, 2017, 02:39:33 PM
I wouldn't be too worried. I was blacklisted too without knowing why. But so far people who were legitimately supporting the project always got back in. There's just too many people applying to properly handle right now. Just have some patience.
254  Economy / Speculation / Re: What do think will happen when Bitcoin reaches $5000? on: September 02, 2017, 02:25:06 PM
I don't think anything spectacular will happen. There's a lot of new people flowing into cryptos, so it's quite likely that BTC will just keep rising even if current hodlers cash in their profits.
255  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Looking for the hidden gem. Let's share ideas on: September 01, 2017, 03:36:00 PM
All of your coins already popped off. If you are looking for "ultra high gain" coins, you should look for something with a strong and plausible product that still hasn't pumped. SONM is one hidden gem that probably can't be topped in terms of risk/reward (low risk, high reward).

Onions are also currently dropping very low due to blacklisted dumpers and FUD, so that could show some remarkable returns as well, but with more speculative risk than SONM (with higher potential gains in the short-term though).

Waves haven't really pumped yet either, even though there's been a lot of buzzing with Burger King and whatnot. Maybe it's because of the terrible DEX? If they upgrade their DEX the coin could moon though.
256  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Deep Onion on: September 01, 2017, 03:30:28 PM
Dump again. Great buying opportunity.
I thought it would re pump again.

Could it drop to 200 sat, from the actual 360  ?
It shouldn't drop below $1 to say the least. A lot of people have been blacklisted so the dumping could continue for a while, but as you've said, that just means a great buying opportunity.
257  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Need advice on $100k investment on: September 01, 2017, 03:27:36 PM
in the last of the post It seems that OP is thinking that it will be tough to make buy and sell directly for bank money is tough or complicated work , that is no a problem because we have many platforms to handle this thing .
In the starting of the post by OP , He is right at his place of thinking to lower the risk by investment in multiple coins .
Here i would like to suggest to OP tyat he should not invest all money but he should invest in small small amounts in the starting not with big because in the starting we need to know about thr main factor that why we got loss in this field and why we got profit , and that can be understood by us just by only to make loss+ profit like a lesson of trading .
Here my suggestion for the investment in the coin for the OP is that to invest in those low prices coin which have high potential like doge coin , RDD ,ETC , sia coin .

Which platforms are out there? I need to have my exit strategy in place before I really invest just to be safe. Converting on 1 exchange seems easy enough but I am worried if my investment is  a lot of money in a  few years(or dropping fast) that I'll have issues withdrawing from an exchange. Can these platforms handle this scenario?

100k usd is not that much money so you will have no problems with liquidity .... Wink

is there a number when it starts becoming an issue?   Example, if I had put a lot of money on DEC last year the  amount would very large(at least in my world)

Same like many others so liquidity isnt affected that much. Maybe slower.

so the odds of one of these exchanges just refusing to transfer and  seizing my account are very low? Apologize if this question is very stupid. I'm only really familiar with btc and never had issues as of yet
If you have any substantial amount invested into any coin do not keep your coin on an exchange. Transfer them to an offline wallet and back it up and make sure you don't lose it. Ideally buy a Trezor to keep your coins safe. There have been a lot of people who lost access to their coins either due to a lack of care or due to exchanges closing, getting hacked or getting "hacked".

Be as paranoid as you can and don't trust anyone or you'll regret it.
258  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is violence really the key to a drug-free country? on: September 01, 2017, 02:45:28 PM
Addiction is a mental illness, look, you can addicted to almost anything, be it FB or porn, etc. With substance abuse, the changes the chemicals make in the brain starts a vicious cycle. So no, I don't think violence would get anywhere, it never does.

Might as well teach citizens from a very young age how to adapt to stress and stuff without resorting to these. Teaching psychology at school would also be useful.
There is no vicious cycle with most drugs. Psychedelics, MDMA and Cannabis don't have any addictive effects and Psychedelics and MDMA even have "anti-addictive" effects due to very fast increases in tolerance. Basically, you have to leave a few weeks or months in between to get the same effects, so there's no issue. Stimulants and Opiates are dangerous in the way that you suggest, but even that is a result of no self-restraint.
If someone has problems with drugs, they would have problems anyways in their life. Either with money, or with health (drinking), or poor impulse control and always getting into fights with people.
Drugs are not to blame, people are 100% at fault.
259  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Is violence really the key to a drug-free country? on: September 01, 2017, 09:27:04 AM
Aside from resorting to violence, what are your suggestions or answers to solve and deal with drug addicts and users in your country?
The solution is: Researching drugs and stopping the spread of antiquated propaganda. The majority of recreational drugs are not just safe, but also have tremendous opportunity for medical applications.

MDMA and psychedelics have huge potential when it comes to healing depression, addiction, PTSD and other problems. And we have known this for decades. Nixon started the "war on drugs" for political and economical reasons. Banning them made sure that certain people had the chance of making a lot more money than they normally would and that's the only reason drugs are perceived as bad these days, even though they are not.
260  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Need advice on $100k investment on: September 01, 2017, 08:54:00 AM
Hello, this is my first post but have been reading a while. I registered because there a few users who really seem to know what they're talking about.

I have a lot of questions  so  please have patience

I'm going to be investing around $100k into a few  coins. I don't understand the logic of investing in 15-20 coins and investing solely in 1 coin seems a bit risky. My first question   is  regarding the big stable coins.. I  want to invest at least half of the $100k into   a coin such as btc, eth, ltc

Out of the the big coins, which would you recommend  as the best  bet over the long run? My definition of long term is  3 years minimum. I feel very safe investing into btc but if the consensus is eth or ltc  I'll take that into consideration. A mix of 2 of them is also something I'm considering

Now to the altcoins.  I'll likely be  starting  investing  in some altcoins  within a week or 2.

Which altcoins are you guys really really  hopeful of?  I'd like to divide this into 2 cases.

Altcoins which will be a boom in the   long run and should hold.

altcoins which will see a huge boom  within a few months/days/weeks  to a year  which  then might dip or crash. I'd get  out of these coins during the pump and buy more  btc/eth etc   then  repeat the process.

I have another   questioning regarding withdrawals and trading. I'm currently in the United States and there's a lot of restrictions it seems. I'm cut off from many markets. Can I accomplish most of this while residing in the States or  would it to be beneficial to get a residency permit in a place such as Curacao or the Netherlands?

Finally, let's say I make a very large profit and attempt to withdraw  into a bank account or   into another wallet, should that nott be an issue? Which exchanges   should I be looking at? I'm currently using Bitstamp  mainly but now have an account on Bitfinex.   Fantastic board here

My advice is, don't listen to anyone on this forum or anywhere else. Especially if they know that you have money. They will try to fuck you over 99% of the time. And the remaining 1% are people who have no clue about what they are talking about.

With that said, the general way to investing is figuring out potential investments and how they could develop in different situations. You want to have a "worst case" prediction, a normal prediction and a "best case/optimistic" prediction.
Then you balance a portfolio of different investments and compare their worst case / normal / optimistic performance and figure out which one you want to go with.

Always make sure that the worst case scenario is not going to be a problem for you.

Getting accurate predictions is the real trick to this though, and very few people can do this successfully, which is why you shouldn't listen to anyone.
