61  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyway to create truly random Ether address using dice on: November 26, 2017, 08:36:41 PM
That's not what I implied at all. It's just simply a fact that based on your life your brain will be wired differently than that of others. You have different memories for starters. And all of that influences your decisions.

But even with all that aside, there is no true randomness that you can draw from.
62  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: bitcoin $15000 on: November 26, 2017, 08:34:42 PM
The rate at which it grows makes me anxious. Its moving so fast.
Just the usual snowball effect of exponential markets. Let's see how much longer it will keep going at this rate or if it'll even pick up speed along the way. The average gains in $ keep going up.
63  Economy / Speculation / Re: BTC will crash to 7-8K ? on: November 26, 2017, 08:32:03 PM
How would that even be a "crash"? It would've still gone up 8-fold in that case.

Given the size of the Bitcoin market I find it hard to imagine it going back down any more than that too. With all the 100~1000k predictions the FOMO will be getting bigger and bigger for a while.
64  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to all coins when bitcoin reach to 10k? on: November 26, 2017, 08:29:00 PM
You are talking about 10k$ as about some limit for bitcoin, but it stayed only around 800$ to reach it and to bitcoin with it's temps of growth in the current time this target can be done within a day (!) What will happen after that?! Nothing, bitcoin will continue it's road, nothing will generally change, maybe it will appear some new milliarders who become rich with bitcoin or maybe some new countries will start bitcoin's legalization or Jamie Diamon will start to like bitcoin  Tongue And some of other crypto will definitely rise in their price, cause of new people will see all advantages of cryptos and will invest rather into popular alts, such as Litecoin, Bitcoin Cash and Etherum while they do not cost too much.
Jamie already likes Bitcoin. That's why he attacked it, so he could buy in cheaper with JP Morgan. I think they were eyeing futures too...
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you feel ICOs try to raise too much? on: November 26, 2017, 08:27:13 PM
ICOs raising too much because it was made exactly to be like that and when the developers are satisfied to the investments they will eventually dump the project and take away all the investment and you will get rekt so stay away fro these ICOs.
If that's your only experience with ICOs you haven't put in enough effort to identify good ones. There are numerous out there that are serious and in the future there will be even more. Of course, a lot of people will "get rekt" in the process, but that's not because of ICOs. It's because they throw their money at anything that sounds big instead of doing deep research before choosing.

True to that. At first I didn't know what to look for in an ICO project but corrected my mistake so I would not get rekt and did research not just on the project and read the white paper but also did more digging on the team itself and help me lessen and chose which ICO are worth it. There are still a lot of great ICO's out there and are legit but you got to do the work before investing and wasting your money on a hyped ICO.
It's also a good idea to research the targeted market of the ICO and its size, as well as the potential competition. That gives you a good idea of how much the project might be worth at different points in time.
66  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that atl-coins are still "alt"? on: November 26, 2017, 07:33:41 PM
I dont think so. Technology updates always.Yesterday Gold, now FIAT, and tomorrow, it will be crypto currency. The same way now bitcoin, tomorrow it may  be ethereum and the next day it may be some other like ELECTRONEUM.We cant just stick with bitcoin as it is was invented first.
Don't think it will be Electroneum, or even Ethereum.

Something seriously major would have to happen on a technological level to remove Bitcoin from the top spot. With all the planned features for Bitcoin it will remain big for many years.
67  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What will happen to all coins when bitcoin reach to 10k? on: November 26, 2017, 07:32:20 PM
Looks like we're hitting 10k in the coming days. I'm sure some people will realize profits or swap into altcoins at that point. The question will be if new investors will extend the bullk market or if the price will go down a bit.

69  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Intense Coin the next Big Thing? - Decentralized VPN - Hybrid PoW on: November 26, 2017, 07:09:00 PM
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

But isn't a decentralized VPN basically just TOR?
Or what is the difference (other than being able to mine here)?
70  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyway to create truly random Ether address using dice on: November 26, 2017, 06:41:21 PM
Already explained
The only thing you've explained was that you wanted a truly random Ethereum address, unless I've missed something?

In either case and as already mentioned a truly random address is impossible regardless of the method (digital or analog) that you use.
71  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you feel ICOs try to raise too much? on: November 26, 2017, 06:39:57 PM
My thoughts about Icos are a bit different
I always care about the thoughts of a couple of people I trust
And they help me to choose Ico
It's very difficult to trust fully but we still try
What makes you trust them? I would be very careful with that approach unless they have some solid experience with oldschool investments. It's very easy to pick bad ICOs, even if there are some good ones.
72  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WARNING DeepOnion is a SCAM, proof inside! on: November 26, 2017, 06:38:34 PM
I can't understand what has this Coin that keeps it above the 1$ price?

The price is tiny.  1$ price but the marketcap is still a tiny drop in the overall bucket.  If you compare this coin to the projects with similar MC you'll find that most of those are abandoned and not even in active development.  The overall supply of this will only be 21M
Don't forget that the current supply is only 3,9m Onions. So once the Airdrop is over, the supply will be almost 5x higher.

So if it maintained the current market cap, the price would have to drop to around 30 cents.
73  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you think that atl-coins are still "alt"? on: November 25, 2017, 10:11:25 PM
As people have already stated, any coin that is not Bitcoin is an alt(ernative) coin.

I have a feeling that they have gotten more serious over the years and I think that we will be seeing some altcoins that are completely independent of Bitcoin in the future.

Price of 1 Onion is now 1.25 USD. We are heading upwards in the coinmarketcap ranking.

Check out the order book on our exchange, there are are A LOT of buy orders on the downside. We get around 60 new members PER DAY.

I dont care what some FUD-people are spreading for wrong information. Everybody can check the facts and decide alone. If you do not want to join choose another project, that is fine.

Neither of those items has any bearing on this discussion.  Neither is impressive in any way, especially since there is almost zero trade volume.
This.
I left because the new rules have essentially transformed what was a hard, yet fair signature campaign (labeled as an airdrop) into a pyramid scheme in which new participants pay the profits of the older ones. And the official DO forum devolved into a complete joke flooded with worthless spam of people whoring Deep Points.

Not what I signed up for, but good luck to whoever chooses to stick around.
76  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Anyway to create truly random Ether address using dice on: November 25, 2017, 08:16:10 PM
You can't really create anything truly random, since no matter what you do it will always be subject to the life experiences of yourself or whoever you order to "randomize" as well as all of their ancestors and surroundings.

So I don't really see much of a benefit of going computerized randomness over human or "natural" randomness. They're ultimately just a sample from different distributions, which with a computer randomizer you can choose.
Is this why you're trying to do this though? So nobody would know which distribution your address was drawn from?

And even then, mind sharing what the purpose of this whole ordeal is? I don't really see any benefit beyond an academic exercise.

I want to do with dice because I've seen too often where computer generated random numbers are not always truly random, and that weakness is not immediately discovered. Don't see how rolling 6 dice 10 times and hashing those 60 numbers to create a private key "will always be subject to the life experiences of yourself ..." as you state. At least rolling the dice are not subject to a coding error.
Choosing dice or other methods are a direct result of your personality.

But in the event of dice there are manufacturing errors, and physical constants to take into account as well which will skew the randomness.

Anyway, coding error or not, there is nothing that is truly random, at least not as far as humans know. But why would you want that in the first place? Are you trying to generate multiple keys with that method? Even with a non-random generator it will be virtually impossible to reconstruct other of your keys based on a sample.

78  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Do you feel ICOs try to raise too much? on: November 22, 2017, 07:44:03 PM
It really depends on the project and there is no cookie-cutter answer to this question.

The problem that I have with ICOs is the fact that they do not provide any realistic breakdowns of their finances, which indicates either a complete lack of competence with regard to running a business or greed and laziness.

Fortunately little details like these make it much easier to identify potential unicorns.
At the very least it's always dead obvious when an ICO is just a money grab and not an actual vision.
79  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: UK threatens to shut down BitConnect on: November 22, 2017, 07:40:30 PM
Funny how so many are in denial about BTC which is so similar .......   Many have called BTC a Ponzi as well, hell perhaps it is.   BTC went up over 1000% this year which would be hard to match using BCC.  I honestly can't understand why so many people get their panties in a bunch about this one.  Too good to be true ?  Yes and so is Bitcoin   Wink
The big difference is that Bitcoin is actually sustainable and has a vision.

If lending money blindly actually worked the banking crisis wouldn't have taken place in the not so distant past.

People should know what happens when people with poor credit get loans, since that approach collapsed brutally at the expense of the tax payers quite recently.

Except this time there will be no regulator to catch the losses, so good luck to anyone who goes this route.

I do agree with a lot of what you are saying.    I have been discussing this with a good friend who is big on stocks.  At face value certainly seems like Ponzi......  That being said we cant really see how it is any more of a ponzi than any other crypto.  The BTC doesn't go to them you sell it to other users on the exchange.  They dont promise you any return.Well They do offer up to .25% on top  of volatility software if you put in over 10K. Investing in BTC in the same amount of time would given bigger gains.  Investing in Bitconnect tokens instead of lending would have yielded about 200,000% return since end of Jan   Shocked .  If anything using the lending platform will have made people a lot less than if they had just invested in the coin.  Does it seem to good to be true ?  Yes it does and so does Bitcoin and every other coin out there. Wild west for sure.
It is very easy to see that BCC is de facto a ponzi, meanwhile it's at the very least not obvious for many other cryptos.

I suppose you have missed the post in which I calculated out why BCC can not possibly be legitimate.

Code:
Not to mention that the promises it makes are outright insane. 0,25% interest per day means 91,25% interest per year.

So starting with $10,010 you'd have 2,808 trillion USD in 30 years and 1,838 quadrillion only 10 years later. Of course that's not a ponzi. Roll Eyes"

Given the amount of money that is "invested" into BitConnect it would create several orders of magnitude more money than has ever existed in the entire history of humanity.

The only potential results are a hyperinflation that would make Weimar and Zimbabwe look like a cute little game, or a house of cards that comes crashing down like every other ponzi.

Nobody knows. There might be a big BTC sell-off when it cracks 10k, but it shouldn't really last very long. In that time altcoins will either bleed as well or go up depending on whether people move their BTC profits into fiat or alt.
