Sry, I was suggesting that you could post in those solo pool mining community threads. I'm sure someone would be willing to sell. I've seen them pool btc to rent hash to solo mine, so they do have to cover expenses.

Thanks, if this thread is a dud I will explore that option tomorrow.
1762  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Do any large players still solo mine? on: December 18, 2015, 02:50:30 AM

Please explain to me why you are interested in this?Huh

I am interested in the creation of unique high end bitcoin collectables.
I am currently working on a set of unique 25 physical bitcoins that I ideally want to load with a fresh newly mined block.
1763  Economy / Digital goods / Re: Do any large players still solo mine? on: December 18, 2015, 02:43:40 AM
There are some nifty solo pools. Google away

Yeah I looked at -ck's pool. If I went that route that is definitely what I would do but I am too small of a player to be able to solo mine one myself without taking on unacceptable risk.

If there are any large solo miners still out there I assume they still need to pay for power costs and thus sell a few bitcoin now and then. The question is do such players still exist or is everyone mining in pools now?
1764  Economy / Digital goods / Do any large players still solo mine? on: December 18, 2015, 02:23:58 AM
I am looking for someone capable of selling a complete newly mined block.
Given the dominance of pooled mining this is proving to be something of a challenge.

Easiest would be to find someone who does solo bitcoin mining and needs to sell some to pay for power but does anyone do this anymore?

1765  Economy / Digital goods / Looking for bitcoin solo miners or pool owners on: December 15, 2015, 01:40:37 AM
I am looking to buy two yet to be mined virgin blocks.

I am willing to pay up to 55 BTC or it's equivalent in USD through mutually agreed third party escrow.

Purpose is for bitcoin collectible. I would also be interested in an pre halving virgin block of 50.

An interesting article from the New York Times that shows how modern banking treats its clients as sheep whose purpose is to be fleeced.

http://www.nytimes.com/2015/12/11/business/he-blew-the-whistle-at-jpmorgan-chase-then-came-the-blowback.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=second-column-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news

Quote
Mr. Burris, 44, worked as a broker at JPMorgan’s Sun City West, Ariz., branch office beginning in 2010, where he was a top producing broker and earned glowing performance reviews, at least in his first few years. Most of his clients were retirees who were unsophisticated about the financial markets.

So Mr. Burris avoided what he considered unsuitable, expensive and underperforming investment products, including some offered by JPMorgan, which drew criticism from his bosses. Troubled that he was being pressured to push JPMorgan’s products rather than act in his clients’ best interests, he went so far as to secretly record his colleagues. He complained repeatedly to his supervisors.

None of this exactly endeared Mr. Burris to his employer or co-workers. In late 2012, Mr. Burris was suspended and then fired. The firm gave him no explanation or chance to defend himself.

Who who in their right mind would trust these people?

The first law of holes
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_holes

"The first law of holes, or the law of holes, is an adage which states that if you find yourself in a hole, stop digging"

Just yesterday I had to apply this very law to myself. Right after the wired and gizmodo articles came out I was convinced for a moment. Then all the counter evidence started to show up the pgp inconstancies and a potential financial motive for deliberate and long term misdirection. The result was this wonderful post.

WE HAVE FOUND SATOSHI AND HE IS STILL WORKING WITH BITCOIN.

That is my take on this as well.

Edit: On further review and in light of the new evidence that the community has unearthed I retract the above statement =)

Not my finest hour but hey we are all human. Sometimes the best course of action is to look around, smile, and realize we have dug ourselves into a bit of a hole =)
1768  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Satoshi's PGP Keys Are Probably Backdated and Point to a Hoax on: December 10, 2015, 05:41:08 AM
What is the most interesting here are those facts:

-The Wired and Gizmodo Keys that supposedly lead back to Satoshi weren’t previously known to be linked to Satoshi, and their 2008 creation date could have been faked.
-Both keys use a list of cipher-suites that don’t match up to the Original Key, and weren’t added to GPG until 2009.
-The Wired key was retroactively added to a 2008 blogpost sometime between 2012 and 2014, as noted in its story.

In addition to these there is the evidence that Mr. Wright is in significant financial distress and may have been perhaps since the collapse of Mt. Gox. Mt. Gox suspended withdrawls in US dollars in June 2013 around the same time a lot of the evidence seems to have been created.

Seems that this Satoshi may have defrauded the Australian Government possibly out of 50 million. Pretty Certain has become highly certain that this is not Satoshi. http://www.businessinsider.com.au/the-australian-who-may-have-invented-bitcoin-claimed-to-have-landed-54m-in-taxpayer-funded-rebates-2015-12

Add in the info from coindesk that shows that Wright may be in significant financial distress due to significant losses from the failure of Mt. Gox
http://www.coindesk.com/bitcoin-creator-craig-wright-lose-bitcoin-mt-gox-collapse/

Quote
The document states:

"Dr Wright, as the major shareholder no longer being able to provide financial accommodation to the Company due to the collapse of the Mount Gox Bitcoin registry where we understand Dr Wright had a significant exposure."

The document does not provide exact numbers for Wright's losses, which came amid the hundreds of thousands of bitcoins believed to have been stolen from the exchange.

Another reference to Wright's involvement with Mt Gox is contained within an unconfirmed transcript of a meeting with the Australia Tax Office published by Gizmodo. In addition to Wright, the meeting's attendees included ATO representative Des McMaster and attorney Andrew Sommer.

During the meeting, McMaster refers to "issues overseas" related to Gox. In the transcript, the exchange – mistakenly called "Mount Cox" – is allegedly holding funds belonging to Wright.

If the document is authentic, the meeting, which took place on 18th February, came just over a week before the Tokyo-based Mt Gox filed for bankruptcy.

http://motherboard.vice.com/read/satoshis-pgp-keys-are-probably-backdated-and-point-to-a-hoax

A good article on Vice magazine which is a huge website and gets tons of traffic. It expands on the points made by Greg Maxwell a couple of hours ago. It's impossible to claim Craig Wright is Satoshi at this point, you would need to take a big leap of faith to do so. Im not saying he isn't 100%, but at the same time anyone that thinks he's the real deal is being delusional.

Thanks or sharing this. This really explains the pgp issue very well.

From the initial wired article:

Quote from: wired
two possibilities outweigh all others: Either Wright invented bitcoin, or he’s a brilliant hoaxer who very badly wants us to believe he did.

1770  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Gmaxwell proves Craig Wright is a fraud on: December 09, 2015, 08:08:22 PM
Craig Wright could have been impersonating satoshi for almost 2 years, in order to con private investors.

"Only you know I'm the creator of Bitcoin, don't tell anyone.  I have a billion dollars worth of bitcoins, but I can't use them until 2020.  That's why I need all your money for this Bitcoin Bank.  You can trust me, I'm already a billionaire."

That would explain why he created fake evidence in 2013 but kept it secret.  This public exposure could have come from his over-excited investors, or maybe he's throwing his net a little wider to see how much more he can get before it falls apart.

This is certainly possible. The data so far indicates one of the follow is true.

1) Craig Wright is Satoshi

or

2) This is a conspiracy involving multiple individuals in different countries trying to convince us that he is.

or

3) This one of the longest cons ever and Craig Wright started laying the groundwork to convince people he was Satoshi back in 2013.

Personally based on the information presented in the wired and gizmodo article #1 seems possible lots of compelling circumstantial evidence there. However #3 is also possible especially if you can establish a definite profit motive for setting up such a fraud in 2013.

Edit: Some evidence that there may have been a financial motive involved can be found here
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1281650.0
Data provided by Gmaxwell and backdated keys also point towards #3
1771  Economy / Economics / Re: Economic Devastation on: December 09, 2015, 05:18:11 PM

The elite is a class, it doesnt matter who personally is in there, they are all doing the same thing.

Your point is not proven.

What matters is that neither you I or the public knows who these people are, what they own, or how they use their influence to manipulate the political system.

The richest people in the world are typically listed as
1) Bill Gates: Net Worth: $79.2 B
2) Carlos Slim Helu & family: Net Worth: $77.1 B
3) Warren Buffett: Net Worth: $72.7 B

However, can we have any confidence that this is truly the case. In an era where wills are not public, and assets can be transferred between generations in blind trusts perhaps Bill Gates is really the 11th richest person and there are 10 others wealthier and more powerful wielding influence behind the scenes.

Maybe not, point is I have no idea and neither does anyone else. The system is opaque and completly non transparent. The very wealthy as long as they are careful already have their anonymity.

One of the greatest features of bitcoin and blockchain technology in general is its utter transparency.
1772  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Has Wired discovered the real Satoshi Nakamoto? (.. this time) on: December 09, 2015, 06:21:24 AM
My reaction every time I read a post in this thread that says:
"Yes, the evidence clearly shows we have found Satoshi.".

Never said the evidence clearly shows Craig Wright is Satoshi. However, the preponderance of evidence presented so far does point to that.

If Craig Wright is not Satoshi it means one of the following is true.

1) This is a conspiracy involving multiple individuals in different countries trying to convince us that he is.

or

2) This is one of the longest cons ever and Craig Wright started laying the groundwork to convince people he was Satoshi back in 2013.

Alternatively if Craig Wright is Satoshi would he have have an incentive to out himself? In fact he might because it is clear that the Australian tax authorities are going after him.

More info on this. This time from Gizmodo and a focus on Dave Kleiman with some interviews of people who knew Kleiman

http://gizmodo.com/this-australian-says-he-and-his-dead-friend-invented-bi-1746958692

From the article

"Patrick Paige and Carter Conrad, who run a Palm Beach County business called Computer Forensics, LLC, in which Kleiman was also a partner, formed their own suspicions about Satoshi’s identity after receiving a string of bizarre communications from Wright following Kleiman’s death in 2013
...
The next communication that Paige and Conrad received from Wright was stranger still. Emails provided to Gizmodo, the authenticity of which were confirmed by Paige and Conrad, show that in February 2014, 10 months after Kleiman’s death, Wright emailed the pair to tell them about a mysterious project he’d been working on with their friend. As part of this undertaking, Wright wrote, Kleiman had mined an enormous amount of bitcoins—an amount “too large to email.” Wright asked them to ensure that Kleiman’s computers were safe, and to check whether their hard drives contained wallet.dat files, the pieces of software that contain bitcoins and their owners’ account information. On a subsequent phone call with Wright, a baffled Paige asked for more information about the partnership with Kleiman. After that, he said, Wright assumed a clandestine tone. “Can I trust you?”

According to Paige, Wright eventually told him that Kleiman was the creator of Bitcoin. Later, he clarified that the cryptocurrency was invented by a group of people which included Kleiman. If that was true, Kleiman was likely sitting on a fortune when he died in April 2013—even if he were in possession of only half of Satoshi’s fabled million-bitcoin stockpile, that would have been worth about $65,000,000 at the time of his death. Wright made clear to Paige that he wasn’t after the money—he only wanted to make sure that it made its way into Kleiman’s estate and didn’t sit gathering dust in a digital vault.
...
Wright stopped calling and emailing them after he made contact with Kleiman’s brother, the executor of Kleiman’s estate. “We knew one day a reporter would come calling,” Paige said. “But we left it at that.”

They dont care for privacy eh? Who are the elite you refer to btw?

The bankers and the richest persons on the planet. They already do what they do out in the open and have press conferences about their investments, for them its no point to hide it.

The very wealthy are extremely concerned about keeping both their wealth and especially their influence hidden.

Ownership of large amounts of stock today is done via trust funds allowing money and power to be utilized without public scrutiny. Following citizens united corporations have the right to spend unlimited amounts of money on politics but there is no reciprocal right for the public to learn the the identity of the individuals who own those corporations and thus who benefits from said lobbying.

Attempts to hide your money in cash or through any anonymous exchange is an attempt to capture a far weaker version of a benefit the very wealthy already have.

regardless of race or nationality is an issue because a lot of us aren't happy with the idea of becoming minorities in our own countries. and those talented educated immigrants better not be factory and retail workers coming to undercut our pay and conditions.

This is exactly the erroneous line of thinking that leads to this...

Quote from: wikipedia
The first significant Chinese immigration to North America began with the California Gold Rush of 1848–1855 and continued with subsequent large labor projects, such as the building of the First Transcontinental Railroad. During the early stages of the gold rush, when surface gold was plentiful, the Chinese were tolerated, if not well received. As gold became harder to find and competition increased, animosity toward the Chinese and other foreigners increased. After being forcibly driven from the mines, most Chinese settled in enclaves in cities, mainly San Francisco, and took up low end wage labor such as restaurant and laundry work. In 1858, the California Legislature passed a law that made it illegal for any person "of the Chinese or Mongolian races" to enter the state

Perhaps rather than disparaging Africa the best approach is to try and help it.
if they want help implementing a one child policy that is aggressively enforced with abortions and sterilisation i'd contribute to it but that's not what they want, they want another 100 years of aid money for this or that education programme

I find it odd that you seem to be pushing for total isolationism and leaving of Africa to its own devices unless they somehow collectively agree to a violent policy of forced sterilization that they completely lack that political cohesiveness to agree to in the first place. In effect you are arguing for a policy that is sure to lead to the very outcome you pretend to want to avoid. Your way guarantees a large overpopulated and uneducated continent of 5+ billion desperate people.

Quote from: John Bongaarts UN Department of Economic and Social Affairs
These findings suggest that the future pace of fertility decline in sub-Saharan Africa will likely be
slower than the pace in other regions at comparable times from the transition onset, unless special
interventions are undertaken.
The conventional approach to accelerating the fertility transition is to invest in development, which,
over time, will bring about a decline in the desired family size and in fertility. In particular, investments in
schooling of girls (an MDG goal) are considered a top priority because education has many benefits for
the future lives of girls as well as for their communities (Levine et.al., 2008; World Bank, 2008;
UNICEF, 2004). In addition, there is a strong inverse correlation between level of education and the
fertility of women (Caldwell, 1980; Jejeebhoy, 1995; Sen, 1999). It is important to note that a large
increase in GDP per capita is not a prerequisite for fertility decline. This is evident in the very low fertility
has been achieved in some very poor societies such as Sri Lanka and the state of Kerala in India.
Although poor, these populations have high levels of literacy and female empowerment as well as low
infant mortality and ready access to methods of family planning. The only drawback of investments in
education is that they take time to have an effect on fertility because of the delay between the age at
schooling and the childbearing years.

do we have a fiat currency problem or do we have a getting into debt to meet the welfare and healthcare requirements of non productive minorites problem?

This is a deep question but the answer is yes we have a fiat currency and we also have a collectivism problem. The welfare, healthcare, and non productive minorities problems follow from those.

For a more detailed answer see.

That particular graph of the population projection for Africa is not that enlightening.
it is when you look at it alongside the global iq projection. you said we have a low iq problem but we don't. blacks do.

Caucasians definitely have a low IQ problem. We as a whole are far too stupid and its holding us back. The existence and widespread embrace of fiat currency and fractional reserve banking is ample evidence of that as is our embrace of unsustainable fiscal policies. I will concede that the evidence I have seen shows the problem is even worse in Africa. If this is the case, then what we are dealing with here is not a case of smart vs dumb but a case of dumb and dumber.

Perhaps rather than disparaging Africa the best approach is to try and help it. Empiric evidence shows that as a country becomes more politically stable, women’s rights increase, and that as the opportunities to get an education becomes widly available fertility drastically falls. Perhaps aggressive stabilization and assistance in Africa especially in the educational sector and the area of women’s rights will lead to a more prosperous Africa with a population at the lower end of those projections. A future Africa with 3 billion somewhat educated people who are able to get by would be much better than an uneducated crushingly impoverished Africa with a starving and chaotic 6 billion.

racism and the "arbritrary constructs" of borders are about protecting what is ours from those who would take it from us and i dont mean 2015's halfhearted racism that bribes the mud people to leave us alone with welfare. but because of your marxist perspective that doesnt look on the preservation of western living standards and the continuity of our civilization as desirable outcomes you'd probably be for taking all the world's wealth and dividing it equally among everyone including the extra 4 billion Africans who are unfortunately going to be allowed to be born.

Racism is always counterproductive because each race is a mixed bag. Focusing on skin color is easy for humans, focusing on the fundamental underlying problems which exist among all races and trying to develop long term solutions is far harder. The Chinese exclusion act was an obvious example of this. Excluding the Chinese was stupid. It passed because the Chinese immigrants worked too hard, and there was anger that they were taking the jobs of the lazier whites. They were also easy to single out based on race.

I would definitely not be for taking the worlds wealth and dividing it equally that would do nothing other than destroy the west without solving any problems. Nor am I for open borders and allowing the world’s poor to flood western countries. However, I am 100% for large scale admission of the smart, talented and educated regardless of race or nationality provided they can find a job to support themselves. I am also for realistic attempts to solve problems.

Well, seeing as you lot have turned it into the Lambie Observer Thread again.

Izabella Kaminska has a classic case of acute sociopathic personality disorder. She fits the symptoms as well as one can. The sociopath fears exposure above most things. I don't know what methods The Doxing used to unmask her and they likely weren't legal in many jurisdictions, but it has already been done. It is understandable that The Doxing left no concrete proof to avoid incriminating himself. I for one would not want to see him arrested for making the world a better place. It is very obvious she is indeed Lambie, and she has admitted it on multiple occasions, so further proof is not necessary. If she is low on funds from shorting bitcoin in hopes of blogging hit pieces and trolling the market so much she turned a profit, then I believe she would make a great candidate for a high level psychiatric study that might warrant a stipend. I believe in her delusions of grandeur she believed that one blogger could affect a world wide market. One can't help but notice the irony that Izabella tweets about her financial hardships, yet spends her days and nights fighting to defend the corrupt system that make her barely able to afford the high cost of living in London, rather than finding a mate and giving birth to and raising more Izabellambies. Perhaps that is for the best, who knows. It is nice to know who is doing all the ridiculous trolling, so The Doxing, if your reading, this ones for you buddy.

https://twitter.com/izakaminska/

This is an obvious attempt to provoke people to harass an innocent financial blogger in an attempt to generate bad press for bitcoin.

I tend to agree with this.

This, " interested in all things energy, central banky, market structurey and science fictiony.", is just so horrible... a pseudo-intellecutual-valley-girl-speak that doesn't jive with what we know. Real lambie's ego is far too huge and confident to willingly smear their own public image so badly.

What the forum needs is the option to restrict posting in moderated topics to an activity level set by the topic starter. This would at least require spam accounts to build up activity first and thus make the ignore button meaningful.
