A brand is not just a logo, and it’s not just a name.  A brand is the entire message being presented to the public by a company,
One important point (in my head anyway) is that XC (as I understand it, if it's like BTC) is not a "company". It's a community based service to humanity.
The goal of companies IIUC is to make money for shareholders. Their primary responsibilities are fiduciary.
Now there are companies that provide services to bitcoin users, and I presume they are incorporated entities most of the time at least, but I'm not sure where XC and the platform fits in.

Where I live, it's possible to have a foundation which operates outside the corporate structure, as the goal of the foundation is not to make a profit, but to pursue some goal or other.

Where would XC fit in? Where would the XC foundation fit in?

Hopefully nobody bought QCN. Don't think it's going to rise again...
I did. I was trying to accumulate between .0002 and .0005 roughly, though not many went through below .0003. Presently it's about .0007 which makes it roughly 80 times cheaper than XMR. The developer is trying to find improvements where he can, so I think there is some value in that for more than just QCN. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=600658.msg7380771#msg7380771
The only thing IMHO that could make it rise again, is a good development team

I find that when I divide .00536199 by .000719 I get 7.46. Is my calculator broke?
. How did that zero get in there? I meant to write 8. My bad.
1483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 19, 2014, 11:44:05 AM
Gamerstarter's , Mecc's and provenceday's posts and chart(with a couple of tweaking here and there), were pure gold.

Bitcoin was released in 2009, and first alt when? 2010? 2011? This market is seriously immature. Forget about bitcoin, why does litecoin hold any value at all? Its still mineable and just stable. There is no real reason as to why it should hold any real value.
People like having alternatives, not just in crypto coins but in just about anything in life

But then again, after many years of trading various instruments I find that what I think should happen, doesn't always correlate to what does happen.  Wink

Dev is at a conference this weekend as well in Washington where XC will have a stand, REV 1.5 is currently under bounty for people to try and crack the multipath, so far no one can do it.
The conference looks interesting. Do you know how many stands will be there. This is a good opportunity to put XC in front of some serious crypto heads  Wink
1486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Which one is the NEXT 10 times profit coin? Anonymous Coin Summary on: June 19, 2014, 11:05:26 AM
Great idea. Thank you
I think that it is also good to have the price multiplied by the total number of coins to be released on any table.

There are some more possible coins I know of .

1.Cinni 2. Voot. 3. Kore. 4 Boolberry. 5 Qcn

1488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QCN] QuazarCoin | Privacy&Data protection | CPU only | Optimized miner on: June 19, 2014, 01:25:31 AM
MRO has a solution which I disliked worse then the bug fix. If your transaction isn't transferred within 24h it's returned to your wallet. But it's impossible to trace it since you're not notified. This is harmful for businesses that work with MRO (and potentially QCN).

I'm working on the reward bug and problem with transactions.
Good work. Smiley
1489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QCN] QuazarCoin | Privacy&Data protection | CPU only | Optimized miner on: June 19, 2014, 12:40:44 AM
While we wait for the team to be announced it might be worth looking at what one (perhaps highly regarded) poster here had to say about Monero.

MRO (Monero)
Okay, there was a reason why I wrote on alts. Cause I have just made my first altcoin investment ever! Monero has a trait which pretty much all other alts lack: slow and geometrically decreasing issuance. At present, only 5% of MRO is mined, and even after 4 years there will still be 20% left to be mined. There is no premine, and the community consists of several people Smiley Furthermore, it is at least currently a CPU coin, since the hashing algorithm is designed to make it difficult to implement for GPU let alone ASIC. These things make it "fair" so that there is no way to amass large stashes except by working for them in the competitive mining or buying in the open market.

The market for the coin is very active and extremely liquid. There was an OTC market in the beginning. MRO was listed in Poloniex 5 days ago and the reception has been good. It has been the most traded coin ever since despite having a market cap of only 1-3 M$! Up to 10% of the outstanding MRO changes hands daily in Poloniex, mitigating the extreme volatility that is plaguing many alts with concentrated ownership.

And now comes the main point: The coin has a feature, which is not implementable in Bitcoin - privacy! It is called CryptoNote, and means that all transactions are mixed in a protocol level. This is imo the most advanced privacy that is currently found in crypto universe, although I am sure that some disagree and let them teach me how I am wrong Wink

The coin is probably circulating quite widely already. New mining is about 30kMRO per day (BTC180), which is about $100k (!) and the price is rising (despite that). This is not a pump and dump coin, because the inflation takes care that new coins are constantly coming to the market. A word of warning though - the market cap may seem lucratively small, but the total issuance of MRO is 20 times the current, which is a little less than that of BTC. Therefore it is easy to compare the relative valuations by just comparing the prices. At 0.006 BTC currently, MRO is not the cheapest coin around (1:166 of BTC). I would advice to not buy hastily, and not participate in bubbles (if any). Mining is also an option.

This is the first altcoin I bought, and I did it during the time when it had been listed in the exchange. My relative position is less than in BTC though, so if only one remains, I would still do better if it is BTC Smiley

This same person seems to be negative on QCN (from other comments in the thread). Yet if QCN can come up with a credible team, one must wonder about's chances compared to Monero.
Monero definitely seems to have a good head start, but it's early days. Smiley

I wonder if anyone would like to comment on QCN compared to Monero as far as the specs mentioned here go?
1490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: June 18, 2014, 11:04:36 PM
While this (and some other things you say)  makes sense and sound solid, there is no guarantee that the future of altcoins will "make sense".

It will almost certainly make sense afterwards.  Therefore it is possible in principle for it to make sense in advance.
True..in principle, but I think the distribution might have a fatter tail Smiley

There is no guarantee that it will, but if it does not, that is my own failiure, not a failure of the altcoins.
If you don't know the future and what unexpected things will influence the result that's hardly a "failure" on your part Smiley

1491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 18, 2014, 10:37:55 PM
What a buy wall...

0.00130000   134862.59141979   175.32136885
fake. it will remove when sell price getting eats up
told you it is fake
Most of the walls I've seen in XC seem to have been legit but the last couple of days they seem to get pulled. That all looked a bit blatant today Smiley
Maybe someone just wants to lighten their exposure. Aren't a lot of coins held ina few hands?
Mind you it's not all necessarily the one person. I think XC still looks ok, it's been fairly stable in percentage terms compared to some other notable coins lately.

Added in edit:
And remember...the bigger the base the higher in space... Smiley
1492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: rpietila Altcoin Observer on: June 18, 2014, 09:38:00 AM
The classical altcoins do not offer anything relative to Bitcoin, except maybe a different hashing algorithm. An important thing to remember is that there is no long-term market niche for two coins with the same algo. The hashing power of the larger coin is constantly threatening to destroy the smaller one. Even if that does not happen, there are network effects in play that favor the larger coin and suppress the smaller.
.
While this (and some other things you say)  makes sense and sound solid, there is no guarantee that the future of altcoins will "make sense".

I think we can only say one thing, the altcoin landscape will look very different in time, and no one knows what it will look like.
I think whatever it looks like will be a surprise, and is presently unpredictable.
Peace to all.
1493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 18, 2014, 08:18:24 AM
Has anyone done a comparison of all the new privacy style coins?
If not I think I might do one.
Maybe someone here can list the main features of XC and I'll ask others to do the same  of other coins.
1494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 17, 2014, 11:06:26 PM
So many good things coming out of XC at the moment, price must now soon catch up with reality.
The chart still looks constructive. Things keep moving forward. But, you can't rush the market. Smiley

"the longer the base, the higher in space" Smiley
1495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Anonymous or secure or private on: June 17, 2014, 08:48:39 AM
The logo should say "XC - Anonymous Platform" not " Flexible Currency"  - XC is much more than just a currency... a whole suite of apps will be built ontop of XC...its not just for money
I think we should avoid the word "anonymous". I don't think it's good marketing wise. Secure might be better. Privacy is a good word too.
Privacy shows that we are taking something rightfully ours.
Anonymous sounds like we have something to hide.
1496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 16, 2014, 01:12:27 PM
Go read the DRK whitepaper...and besides thats not the point....point is XC Dev now realised the XC architecture is FLAWED. End of Story.
If and I say if that were true that would have been awesome. That's the kind of coin and dev I want to invest with. One who if he sees a better way to help the coin and the community, takes some action.
1497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Unmoderated XC thread on: June 16, 2014, 10:33:20 AM
+ no more comments on this thread.
+ If anyone asks, I will reply.
+ If anyone annoys me, I will reply.
Thanks again for your input. It's good to have someone trying to find problems. This is fundamental to science.
Now presently, even Dan the dev admits that technically it would be possible (even if unlikely) to lose coins during a transaction. I think you did a good job of explaining why (though I may have misunderstood).

Are you now thinking that "multi sig" will solve this potential problem?
1498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QCN] QuazarCoin | Privacy&Data protection | CPU only | Optimized miner on: June 16, 2014, 06:09:43 AM
Fair enough. I actually don't think it's ascam. I guess I'm just frustrated to see Monero doing so well, and the QCN price struggling.
These feelings are wrong.
feelings are feelings, they're not right or wrong. On the other hand, many people do comment about my attitude Smiley

It's all one CryptoNote-Movement, (with supirior tech) aiming for privacy and avoiding the faults made developing Bitcoin.
However like a tree, some branches will flourish, and some wither and die.
The crypto coin world has become more sophisticated in a very short time, and it's becoming clear that there is a lot more to be done to help any coin find a useful place in the world than just making the coin.
The Developer has done many things right so far...but it's clear that a *team*, and a community is needed for a coin to find a place and  contribute to humanity, which this coin can do

How does Cinni's privacy feature work?
Thanks

Hi there, if you go back phew pages you can find the posted White papers and more info, pretty cool imo

nice to have more XC visitors in the thread, welcome Smiley
Thanks for the welcome. I have some Cinni too, but more XC. I just haven't had time to really understand Cinni yet. And I'm sure I heard it was working on privacy too, but just haven't investigated it yet. So many coins, so little time Smiley
