Next week updates = bytecoin updates, that moves blockchain out of RAM and other small fixes.
Developers are working on moving that changes to duckNote and testing it. Also working around GUI wallet, but that is not the priority now, the main thing now is to make network more scalable in terms of rewards and fees.
There will be no change of coin amount or supply.
There is no hardfork in plans.

In next 2 weeks marketing phase will begin, means giveaways, coin promotion, etc.
As for now - network is really stable, block intervals are perfect, all is going according to THE PLAN.
Ok, well I had my say Smiley So I wish you good luck Smiley

one good idea would be for shure to implement a XC -> Bitcoin "tunnel" like VRC. This for shure will create a higher user acceptance as it allows a simpler handling as long as the currency is not adopted by the masses. imho this XX->BTC will soon be available for nearly every coin... i mean without using an exchange directly
VRC seems to be doing some very interesting stuff if what I hear is true. Linking to CC's and coinbase via the wallet

i don't think you understand how markets work.
I do, I've worked professionally as a trader in financial markets, off and on for over 20 years.

Quote
you don't but at 3 and sell at 2.  If you investing you buy at 3 and wait for it to go up.
Not every trade is for long term investment. Plus any long term investment approach must have some risk management. Risk management means knowing when to cut a loss. This applies even moreso in the highly speculative world of crypto currencies. What investment fund manager or what investor does not have a strategy to cut a loss?
But not only are we in the highly speculative world of crypto currencies. We are at the speculative end of that world.

Also you can not randomly adjust or reduce the number of coins to solve any problem.
I'm not suggesting anything "random" happen
1424  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] duckNote [ANN]. CryptoNote based. Anonymous and CPU only. on: June 28, 2014, 08:07:13 AM
its not going to get de listed after one down day.  It just barely got listed anyways.  patience everyone.  this is how markets work.

One issue is this. The coin has buyers at 2 satoshi's and sellers at 3 satoshi's. If you buy at 3 and then decide to sell then you lose one third of your money.
Ducknotou buy at 2 and then have to sell you lose half your money. This is ahuge problem!!!es are moving down about 1 satoshi every day so soon there will buy could easily be sellers at 2 satoshi and buyers at 1 satoshi. This makes it even worse.
If we reduced the number of coins it would solve this problem.. If every 10 ducknotes turn into 1.
What would help if if we could trade at 1.1sat or 1.5 sat or 1.8 sat. Bt the excahnges we trade on dont have that function (coinedup does)

Maybe someone has some better ideas?
1425  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QCN] QuazarCoin | Privacy&Data protection | CPU only | Optimized miner on: June 28, 2014, 06:42:30 AM
I am impressed by CN technology and it's CryptoNight algorithm. Just getting into it and have a lot of questions.
btw, is it really so difficult code to create a gui wallet so that there is a reward for it?

and there can I find how many CN-based coins exist?

Coins listed there on cryptonote https://cryptonote.org.
I could not find a list. Where on the site is it? Thanks
1426  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] duckNote [ANN]. CryptoNote based. Anonymous and CPU only. on: June 28, 2014, 01:29:36 AM
duckNote is a great coin with great future, just look at emission curve and other network specs, also look at duckNote popularity in Asia, especially in China, i hope marketing will include growing Asia markets, and i believe it will.
If Ducknote was popular it would be going up in price. Ducknote is going down in price, which means it is not popular.
If Ducknote falls any further it may get de listed.

Now ducknote may be a good coin, and I think it is,  but that wont matter if it goes down and gets de listed.
So the important thing is to make sure that doesn't happen.
Ducknote is also very very cheap, but that wont matter either if it gets delisted
1427  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] duckNote [ANN]. CryptoNote based. Anonymous and CPU only. on: June 27, 2014, 11:56:52 PM
duckNote devs team do have the plan. 1. Latest improvements from Bytecoin -> to  duckNote 2. Marketing after more duckNotes will be mined/ 3. GUI and web wallets aka remote wallets. 4. Lots of "easy start" stuff.
have a great fun.
Dev, what are the chances of doing a split so we have less coins and more liquidity?
What about changing the emission curve or even reducing the number of coins?
1428  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] duckNote [ANN]. CryptoNote based. Anonymous and CPU only. on: June 27, 2014, 09:06:26 PM
pump/.
Hard to see how there will be a  pump. The coin is just about dead now by the look of things.  At this price it would not take much to revive the coin but not much happening.
I think that one solution is to reduce the number of coins. Otherwise other CN coins will likely show up and this one will be left behind
Give ducknote some time to stabilize... miners are dumping all their previously mined coins.  It's only been on exchanges for a few days.
The problem is that if something is not done more CN coins might appear and they could steal the show.

Quote
Also, if they reduce the number of coins, they would also have to reduce the amount in everyone's wallet,
That would still help because one big problem is that here we have run out of decimal places. This means that the spread between the buy price and the sell price is too big in percentage terms, which is bad for liquidity.
Quote
otherwise early adopters would have a very distinct advantage.
That wont matter if it saves the coin.

Another possibility is to change the emission curve. Reduce the number of coins being released at the moment.
At the moment we have too many coins being released and it is clearly not working very well.

not that I agree with the poster bashing ducknote,
Do you disagree? Or do you just not agree?

Has anyone got anything of substance to say about this coin/note?

You have flooded the market with a copied coin, which is fine. But you have no ideas or plan of your own. Surely you can come up with one original idea yourself?
Also your choice of 8.5 Billion coins could work, but not when you have no ideas of your own, nothing to set it apart, and with this particular emission curve. It wont be worth mining soon, if it even still is.
Now we have the unworkable situation where the difference between the bid and ask is 33%, which means there will be little liquidity. If you didn't have this ridiculous amount of notes you would have put the "community" in this situation.
The coin will die before you ever get to "marketing it".
You only hope is to change the emission curve and to do it soon. Or to come up with your own ideas that will capture peoples imagination.
1432  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XDN] duckNote [ANN]. CryptoNote based. Anonymous and CPU only. on: June 26, 2014, 01:35:35 PM
Is there any community with this coin or just people mining and dumping?
Is there any plan or any vision?
It looks like a scam coin, loads of coins being dumped and no real vision or plan.
ducknote has a great community,
It has no community except miners, mining and dumping as fast as they can before the price falls.

Quote
and what do you mean so vision or plan?  Please read up on cryptonote cryptonote.org
Duckcoin has no plan of it's own.
Quote
and this thread before calling a coin out as a scam.  Thank you.
I didn't say it was I said it looked like one.
Somewhere around 100 million coins are being mined every day aren't they.

Ducknote is the latest improvement of cryptonote with a longer block time helping to reduce orphans.
No one seems to agree that it is an improvement. It has been the worst received and the biggest failure of any of the CN coins.

Why don't you tell me what the plan is.
1433  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][XC][OFFICIAL] X11/PoS/Privacy on: June 26, 2014, 01:22:06 PM
So... you are saying we have been in repair mode and this is a GIGANTIC base?   So, the TOP will be HUGE....
Um..My view is that it could be forming a base. Everything is consistent with that, as far as I can see.
If we are then it could be expected that after such a big drop the repair would take some time, which is what we see. These things can be frustrating because the price rallies then runs into selling again and again, but this is quite normal behaviour when a base is forming after such a drop.

I'm not quite sure what to make of crypto coins though because we really have so little price history (except for BTC). But then again these things kind of act like they are in a microwave oven  Smiley

Usually, movements in the market tend to have a relationship to each other - "the bigger the base, the higher in space; the bigger the top, the bigger the drop; and the bigger the drop, the longer the need for repair".

Hi All,

I am a quiet investor of XC and feel the need to address the community.

This latest update is very upsetting to myself and some other investors I know who have invested in this coin. There is no direction to this coin and it feels so "rushed" with constant announcements which are
a) very poor in communication (See below) b) do not provide any real world technical information or value add c) add confusion to investors, I still have no idea about CACHe coin??? or REV2???

Why on earth do we need a TOR stick, anyone with a bit of time can put together a USB stick with an OS and a wallet??? Many people already run this through TOR with other software? This does not add value, it just confuses people. What happened to REV 2, this is now lost? Hows about you fix up the website FIRST???

The announcement "XC is the current market leader in decentralised private cryptographic transactions" - you shouldn't be stating this unless you have facts, technical information or professional vetting to back this up. Yes XC is trying to break into the anonymity market but dont make it something its not. This screams scam coin to most people.

". And of course it is private, very private" - again making claims like this without a single technical comment or overview of how this works is very concerning. The majority of posts in this thread is price and moon talk and the announcements always just try to sound great without giving any information away. Where is the community technical discussion to confirm how anything works?

Sorry to burst everyone's bubble, but I am selling, and will continue to sell until this coin has direction, a solid development plan and not more announcements.

I once had hope but feel as though I should just sell the remainder out now and take a small hit rather than keep being frustrated by announcement after announcement, rushing and poor quality.
Thank you. Some of your points are good I think. I'm not selling any, but I'd like to buy more but I just don't feel I understand some points. So I'm being cautious.
That said, I think what I see appears to be pretty good compared to the other coins in this space, but it's all very new so I'll give them some time. It sure does seem that the team is working very hard, and I like Dan's real world experience. I like what I see so far.

And then some very emotional guys like benthach, insult people that ask for a whitepaper...
Well we all get emotional about this stuff, and say things we probably would not say face to face. It's an exciting phenomenon and some of us have significant amounts invested. Add to that the volatility of these coins and ..well...

Watching this coin extremely closely.

80% total supply mined within the first year.

Block halving every month.

So how many coins are being mined each day now? 100 million coins each day?

XC is just the first step into having what everyone has been asking for since satoshi wrote his whitepaper. I would say XC + platform represent about 20% of the teams final goals. So if you are clearing out your xc holdings, I feel sorry for you son.
Thansk you jasinlee. Is there a laymans' explanation of why this is so. Why is XC what everyone has been asking for?

How many XDN are released each day at the moment?
And are most notes going to be mined in the first year?

Thanks
