14321  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-27-12] India cracks down on bitcoin exchange on: December 29, 2013, 02:55:37 PM
Change the title to India cracks on illegal bitcoin exchange.

Also , nobody cares about them and their 2 BTC volume.

That is negative attitude. You can't blame the Indians for the actions of its corrupt government, although they were the ones who elected it to the office.

And another thing. Although the current volumes from India is microscopic... don't forget that India is having a population of 1.3 billion and is one of the most rapidly growing economies in the world.  Cheesy

Yeah , on paper...
I saw through the last years the myth of the BRICS falling apart.
China with is fake numbers and currency manipulation , Russia with its' citizen running away to Europe, India with hundreds of thousands of people starving each year, Brazil who can't afford both  a world championship and normal healthcare and South Africa which in 30 years will have more people infected with HIV than healthy.

Face it , the bitcoin trained is fueled by the western countries.
If the Eu does the same as china and India , we can count bitcoin in cents for a few months.
14322  Economy / Speculation / Re: Breaking News: Indian Central Bank causes Largest Bitcoin Exchange Shutdown on: December 29, 2013, 01:23:44 PM
People all over the world are barely living paycheck to paycheck, living in tiny homes due to high housing cost even in western nations, food price increases have caused RECORD poverty in western nations. Its no more a case of Americans are rich, Indians and Chinese are poor. This fact is constantly ignored, everyone is having a hard time.

Higher price of food and cost of living will cause more difficulty for everyone in us and eu (not just india and china ) and lower the already low standard of living. No one will be rushing to buy 108" tvs.

You obviously don't live where I live.  Even during the height of the depression, Disneyland was absolutely FULL at $139 per person and almost $300 for an annual pass.

And on Black Friday, practically every shopping cart had a 40"+ TV in it.

Cost of living is a Global issue affecting everyone, the vast majority of working people live paycheck to paycheck (debt doesnt count). If food prices go up in Europe, people won't absorb the cost their standard of living will go down.

people going to Disney land and buying TVs is irrelevant, People in India and China are spending the same amount of time in Massive Malls and theme parks and buying electronics (iphone and androids one of the biggest markets in the world is China and India). Standard of living has gone up immensely in "developing" nations the past 2 decades a fact people don't seem to grasp. The point i'm trying to portray is Higher cost of living doesn't affect JUST developing nations like india and china anymore, western population are also strongly affected and standard of living is going down along with purchasing power.

I do not believe people in the United States or Europe can easily absorb higher food, fuel, housing costs, taxes without lowering their standard of living, that's just fantasy.

Yeah , 2x price increase in food and they will lower their standard , nothing more.
For the rest of the countries , they will starve.

"Deaths from malnutrition on a large scale have continued across India into modern times. In Maharashtra alone, for example, there were around 45,000 childhood deaths due to mild or severe malnutrition in 2009, according to the Times of India.[131] Another Times of India report in 2010 has stated that 50% of childhood deaths in India are attributable to malnutrition.[132]"

Is this happening in Europe?

It's not the amount of dollar. When I go to somewhere like Thailand or the Philippines my buying power is five times higher than back home. I mean that in the most literal sense, I can get five times as much stuff for my money in other countries than I can in my own. Those "poor" countries with "low" wages get the same percentage ROI on bitcoin as we do. It is exactly as good a deal for them as it is for us. So yes, those among them who have even a little cash to spare will buy bitcoin. And it will raise the price. How much is a different matter, but it is certain to go up over time.

Alright on the purchasing power when it comes to living expenses.
But can you buy a Mercedes five times cheaper in Thailand? Or can you buy a Bitcoin five times cheaper?
NO.
And it's far more likely than an American will buy a BTC right now at the current price than 5 Indians 1/5 of it. Smiley
Yes. And not just in Thailand, it goes for most of the rest of the world too. Real estate in my country is 4 times as expensive as in the us. Cars, 4-10 times. Denmark has absolutely ridiculous prices. Which is why our apparent high wages don't account for much. There is very little left once tax (the highest in the world) and basic expenses are paid.

The price of bitcoin doesn't matter for investment. Why is this difficult?

Thailand   Mercedes sl500  14mils baht 309,803.56
Germany   sl65 amg  237 000 euros.

It matters because even an average Romanian can save around 200 euros per month while in india most of them don't even get that much as their wage.

If somebody has 2000 euros /month wage and only can save 5% that is 100 euros.
A hindi with 200 /month has to save 50%  to get the same amount.

That's why i don't expect indians to buy more than 0.1% of the bitcoins.
14324  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can I add catchpa's to cryptocurrency? on: December 29, 2013, 11:09:18 AM
It would be easier to make a limit on the hashpower that anyone can contribute to the network rather than implementing a captcha.
This could be in theory at least be achieved with a new algorithm. I saw this idea a few times but not a step towards practice.

But again , an easier way is to get the right numbers with the coin reward per block to encourage adoption but not heavy mining.
Not 50% of them in the first blocks but not 0.001%.
14325  Other / Meta / Re: (Suggestion) New sub-forum for novelty coins on: December 29, 2013, 10:35:15 AM
Sorry, I should have used this topic instead of created my own --

I think, even though this is a bitcoin forum first, we have to recognize two things:
1) Altcoins MUST start and maintain a thread here, or they are considered shady
2) Altcoins need Bitcoin, and Bitcoin needs altcoins. Altcoins are worthless without bitcoin, and Bitcoin's growth is stunted without altcoins.

Right now the altcoin area is a complete cesspool disaster, and I feel somewhat responsible (sorry...), so I think it would be good to at least have a subforum for, say, giveaways. And maybe speculation or something like that.

Did you have a personal discussion with mister Bitcoin and he told you that?
The only argument I have ever seen about the alt is that they increase popularity of cryptos in general. But this sometimes is a double edge sword.

From being called a ponzi scheme by a few to being called a joke by half of the world , I prefer the ponzi label for cryptos.

14328  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Time to boycott coinmarketcap.com on: December 29, 2013, 09:09:27 AM
There's a market out there for someone to build a coinmarketcap clone that only lists decentralized/mined cryptos. They'll get an automatic audience.

I'd do it, but I don't have those skills.
 Grin

Already done , because of the overhelming demand of over 65% (20% neutral guys,15% premine fanboys)
http://www.cryptmarketcap.com/

.... That is a list of digital currencies. Not a list of currencies that are mined.
There is no definition nor for digital nor for cryptos that they have to be mined and not issued.
People try to force the principles of Bitcoin on all other coins , which is not right.
Yes if you see it like that it is "just" a list.
I see it not like that the site is very popular and has potential to influence people minds about the popularity of a currency.
I see the potential to influence new people to believe
the coins work like bitcoin. In fact they are the opposite. My position is this must be clear, otherwise it is not right.
There is no enfocing of principles. It is the other way around.
XRP,NXT,MST are abusing the Bitcoin trend, if they dont make clear to everyone, they work completely different.
By listing them together it seems for non nerds and newbies like they play in the same class.
The fact they are "minted" is a serious difference.

When it is just a list, then what speaks against it to also list Lindendollars and Amazoncoins?
So , the people behind ripple should post on coinmarketcap how ripple works?
LMAO.

If you want to know how ripple works you got to their website and learn from there.
Also , it has been debated in this forums so many times what ripple is and how it is different from Bitcoin I really don't get it how you (based on your reg date) still can say that.

And to your last argument , which is pretty pathetic , I think cmc should add also livejasmin credits.

It seems you are one of those humans which like to be enslaved.
Someone who is a submissive believer of the authorities.(because of diffuse fear)
So that is no wonder that people fall into XRP,NXT,MST because of their educated pavlovian conditioning in their childhood.
(Thinking centralistic systems are without alternative)

Your last sentence confirmed my concern.  Grin

My opinion is that you're one of those humans who fear everything that they don't know how it works.
If somebody buys nxt or xrp based on the a graph on a website and doesn't go and research first , they deserve everything bad that may come after this..

But if they go and do their learning and still like it , what's your problem ?
Put down your pitchfork!
If I buy mastercoins , I'm submitting to the government?
And further more , what the hell is your problem if people are believing in their government?

Freedom of speech my friend , and freedom of opinion , and funny enough  you're fighting against those principles.
14329  Economy / Speculation / Re: Breaking News: Indian Central Bank causes Largest Bitcoin Exchange Shutdown on: December 28, 2013, 10:16:38 PM
China and now India..

36% of the world's population effectively blocked from purchasing bitcoins legally in their countries.

Numbers means nothing It's the purchasing power behind the poeple.
If the price of bread will double next year will see millions starving in china and india. In the us or eu? Probably buying a 107 not 108"  tv.

Yeah , the same is happening in my country , people are supposed to be poorer by the month but yet , with more than 30 hypermarkets in a 2 million city you can barely walk in any of them, and is you don't see a tv in a cart every minute these days you must change your prescription.

Lets not even talk about shopping in the malls as I couldn't even find a parking spot yesterday.

You can't compare what an European thinks is poverty with what a somali thinks of it.

Ps. and I live in a country with 500/month average wage.

India and China are not Somalia lol, i've been to both places and if you go to any hypermarket it's the same scene ppl have tvs and electronics in their carts. China has even better infrastructure that most western nations. Remember these tv purchases are mainly based on debt (cc, monthly installments, etc). They also have massive malls in every corner of the city.

What i'm trying to say is that it's easy to imagine US and EU populations enjoying high quality of life with good incomes and able to absorb endless cost of living rises, when it's really not that different compared to many other "developing" nations anymore.

so , you're still insisting that the average Indian with a 200$ wage has more money to  invest in bitcoins than the average European with 1500?
The last famine was not in Europe not the previous one nor the one before.
Hmm , i wonder where they were , something like China ? =))))

4) what is wrong it is wrong ,
also nobody explained yet why the hashrate is only 1/4 but the difficulty is 1/7

becuase the coins have different payouts, block rewards, and final total number of coins?  do you not understand math with more than 1 variable?

also, i'd like to point out you asked for proof, someone gave you proof, and now you claim the proof is wrong.

nice troll.

Are you insane?
Do you know what difficulty means? What hashrate is?
I expected the dogefans to not know too much about cryptos but....
Block rewards affecting the difficulty?
What crap are you smoking doggie?

I'm not a techie here, but i think u are rite about the block reward doesn't affecting the difficulty.
But i do know that block timing has something to do with difficulty.
the block time for doge is to be maintained at 60sec by the difficulty change with the increase or decrease in network hashrate. but in the case of litecoin the slock time is 180sec.
And hence the difficulty is 1/7th when the hashrate is 1/3rd.

So if you don't like DOGE i advise you to stop trolling here and read some crypto literature before shooting out at dogefans. Tongue

Even when a non-techie like me could understand this, i really do feel pity for you....  Tongue  Tongue

Another one!!!

No really , isn't anybody is this forum having a clue about hashrate and difficulty?
God damn ! Use the search function for god sake at least.

I guess people in the main forum were right , don't try to talk some sense into doge fans.

Thats one but there are multiple sources.  =( sigh

A service using doge was hacked.
You know the difference between a website using a crypto and that crypto protocol?

A lot of websites using bitcoins have been hacked , including mtgox.
But the bitcoin protocol has never been hacked.

Spend some more time in the newbie area. With this kind of FUD you're dangerous.

It seems that most of you are just rabbid dogs , biting the hands that feed you.

make up your own mind, the owner is not shy about telling people the site was his pride and joy https://www.facebook.com/smagik not sure what to make of todays downtime

Yea some people should give the guy a break. I get the impression the owner of the site is fairly young & is just having a go at something. Not sure why every time someone tries to release a new service for crypto that they got shot down in flames & called a scammer every single time a site experiences some downtime. There's some real fucking hairy trolls on this forum.

You defending him does more harm than good.
14334  Economy / Speculation / Re: What if Zuckerberg is trying to get in on bitcoin? on: December 28, 2013, 08:56:13 PM
would be cool if zucker is in the crypto game.

as for Facebook, my personal experience is that people still use it but their activity has gone down significantly, previously in any given minute my feed is flooded and i find myself tagged every hour or so, profile pics were updated constantly, with likes usually in hundreds for one post. Now not so much, feed moves very slowly, Most people are now more active on twitter, pinterest and mobile apps like whatsapp, viber, snap chat etc.

I strongly believe the privacy settings changes in Facebook killed it, you'd be surprised the masses care about their privacy to a certain extent. The privacy settings changes and unpredictable nature of Facebook updates is the #1 complaint i hear from people about Facebook.

You mean people have turned from being stupid to complete morons!
A few weeks ago a girl was hit by a car close to my home because when she dried to cross the street she was typing on twitter.

Stories like this always make me smile. Don't feel sorry at all for stupid people who got hurt because they did something stupid. Poor guy who hit her tho, hopefully his car is insured.

I don't feel sorry for them either , sometimes you have to let mother nature do her job , natural selection.
Also , the car hadn't even a scratch on it , and even the phone was still ok since the people that arrived first managed to see the screen.
About the girl , i don't have a clue and i really don't care Smiley. Even if it's x-mas.

doge is dieing Sad

Really? I think not. Doge is just a puppy. It will live long life. You kidz are panicing on every little dump. Chill out and relax a little  Wink .

It's been just 3 weeks god's sake. Give it some time. People are so restless.

Thing is it will rise in long term, if you want it to rise faster, you have to promote it.
Its a coin based on a retarded meme...
Not that any other coins are based on anything better but retarded jokes tend to fade out faster.
A coin's value is based on the "game of zero" princeple. When a coin market has a fixed number of coins, its value increses and decreases with the amount of BTC diposited/withdrawn from the coin. The more BTC people deposit into doge the more its value is.
When a coin market contines "printing new money"(mining new coins), the amount of BTC invested has to continuesly grow in order to keep its current value.

My question is...what makes you think that in a few weeks/months people will start investing MAJORRRR btc in this coin?

*for the record I do have about 1m doge that im holding on to.

1 - DOGE has seen $8 million (or 11,000BTC) of market volume in last 24 hours.

- DOGE was mentioned by Reserve Bank of India along with BTC and LTC in their recent press release.

2 - No other coin in the history of cryptos has reached 4 major exchanges within 2 weeks of it's launch.

- All memes that come onto the internet mostly are born in reddit, 4chan, etc. So, this forum is not a good place to track DOGE's progress.
The sub-reddit of doge (/r/dogecoin) has crossed the total member count of Litecoin's sub-reddit only behing Bitcoin's. Today, it was selected as the fastest growing sub-reddit and awarded "Sub-reddit of the day"

- A Starbucks cafe based in South California, USA just started accepting DOGE.

3 - As of today, 50% newbies are coming to crypto because of DOGE (confirmed)

4 - DOGE is has climbed to 35% of network hashrate of Litecoin.

If this doesn't convince you, nothing can

1 false , show proofs

2 false , there are more coins that did that , and one of them even faster (buts it's just as stupid as doge or even worse so i won't advertise it here)

3 false , can't prove that

4 false , common Smiley get some glasses

1. Go to coinmarketcap.com, look at Doge, it says it dropped -4.6% in value from last time. The current value is 7,600,000. 4.6% of that is around $350,000.

2. Where's YOUR proof?

3. Possible to prove it. Go here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=mlist;sort=registered;desc;start=0 and look at all the tens of thousands of new members that signed up after Dogecoin was released compared to before. Look at their profile, they have DOGE in their signature or they talk about it a lot.

4. Considering current Litecoin hashrate is 90 gh/s and Dogecoin is at 25 gh/s, it's currently at 28% of its hashrate. Another 7% increase wouldn't be that much for a peak. You get glasses.

insert stupid pic here.

1) do you know what trade volume is ? do you know what market cap is?
2)  http://www.cryptocoincharts.info/ check it out Smiley i'll let you find the other two clonecoins that managed the same
3) funny how lot of those accounts go inactive after begging a few times
4) what is wrong it is wrong ,
also nobody explained yet why the hashrate is only 1/4 but the difficulty is 1/7

Which cryptocurrency is the most profitable for mining in next few days? Lotto, Fedoracoin?

Remember that what's profitable today might not be tomorrow , when all miners switch their rigs to it.

I know coinwarz. That's why I asked for future&your predictions, not today Smiley

And do you think anybody will know the right answer?
Its a lottery game. Not just because of miners flocking to that coin but also because of somebody trying to dump or pump that damn altcoin you're mining.
