14521  Economy / Speculation / Re: Mt.Gox trying to drive up prices? on: December 19, 2013, 07:48:39 AM
It's more like trying to keep customers.
And this isn't an easy task with all they have on the record so far.
14522  Economy / Speculation / Re: sell signal just triggered on almost all 4 exchanges just now on: December 19, 2013, 07:44:01 AM
And the signal ceased and we're on 600+ on Gox.
Got to love how fast the situation can change.
14523  Economy / Speculation / Christmas trading on: December 19, 2013, 07:41:13 AM
Hello,
I wonder how things will unfold this Christmas.
Sure , lots of people will stop doing trades , watching the prices on x-mas and during New Year , but a lot won't.

How many traders will still be active these days? And will some manipulator try to take advantage of this?
14524  Economy / Economics / Re: Bitcoin crashing or slowly deflating, or just a lull? on: December 17, 2013, 12:04:57 PM
The real problem is the adoption of the Bitcoin.
Many people jump to mine it with ASICs but only few start business based on Bitcoin and other coins.
This make the Bitcoin price vulnerable to speculations.

This is so painfully true.
Price is going up but the number of users and transactions hasn't followed it at least by 10%.
Mass adoption will help stabilize the price but those daily price changes deter some people so we end up running in circles.
14525  Economy / Speculation / Re: The next bitcoin boom phase will be driven by the USA. on: December 17, 2013, 12:01:56 PM
With over 42% of the US population aware of bitcoin, it makes sense that Bitcoin should probably be an American thing. Nowhere else, except european countries (where the Dutch apparently have 1% of the population owning bitcoin) is bitcoin so popular. And the legal/political system so free. :-)

W8 , there are 150k+ bitcoin owners in the Netherlands?
Any source for this ? Cause I find it amazing

Also , I deeply believe that the EU zone will be the one that really drives mass adoption , not this speculation bubble in China!
We need real shops and real users , not day traders.
14526  Other / Off-topic / Re: Amazon drones, lol on: December 17, 2013, 11:56:51 AM
http://www.amazon.com/b?node=8037720011

you've got to be kidding me.  amazon must be doing this for publicity.  that piece of crap can't possibly be the actual drone one day.

Once the drone lands just throw a net on the damn thing and take it home. If Amazon comes looking for their drone just tell them that you had seen it flying in a north northeastern direction about an hour ago.

Do you really believe they will send those things without a gps tracking device on them ?
What I'm more concern about would be that they even might get a camera on board , and film everything on their way.

Not nice having a few hundred camera watching your every step around the city.
14527  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: December 17, 2013, 11:50:04 AM
What happened to the "China wants to get rid of the $ , China is embracing BTC as a new currency? .
We're talking about a country that holds it's own currency , the yuan at bay to help exports.
Wake up people. It was a nice ride but we need a real country for the next step , and that ain't China!
14528  Economy / Economics / Re: "China does NOT allow goods/services to be sold/paid for by bitcoin" CEO of btcc on: December 17, 2013, 11:42:25 AM
Can somebody tell me , are merchants banned from using Bitpay also?
Because they are not selling their products for Bitcoins , they are selling them for $.
It's the same as accepting a foreign credit card with a different currency , isn't it?

Ups , I missed the "priced in BTC| part.
14529  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to know if your a true believer - on: December 17, 2013, 11:27:55 AM
True believers don't care about price , they care about use and adoption.
The people who care about the price are the opportunist finding a new place to earn some money.
14530  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Korea now talking positively about bitcoin on: December 17, 2013, 11:25:19 AM
Yeap South Korea is very Internet Friendly so am not surprised they cottoned on to the Bitcoin Idea plus Indians are also very Tech Savvy so it is about time we had new players. If BTC Trading was dominated only by Europeans and the Chinese then it would be like an open market war..We need some balance as to where all this coin is going to.

Agreed. South Korea could be a huge market depending on regulation. Not so sure about India though.

Japan is very quiet?!?

Japan was one of the first. MtGox is there.

Yes , but apart from MtGox being there and Satoshi Nakamoto having a Japanese name , not much happening in Japan , or at least no news about it.
14531  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Latest "China" *announcement* carefull "FUD"...& coindesk continued it?? on: December 17, 2013, 11:07:02 AM
Isn't there one single chinese speaking individual in the whole western world who's able to translate these rumours etc. into understandable English  Grin

It happened also the last time and I don't understand why!
We have a subforum for chinese speaking  and even some moderators for these. Isn't there at least one person who can speak both chinese and english?

I'm getting tired of those rumors and everyone asking what it really means endlessly.

14532  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: can satoshi kill bitcoin? on: December 17, 2013, 11:01:34 AM
In a hypothetical situation, if satoshi ever comes back, does he has the power to kill crypotcurrency?

YES.

Let's say he comes back and says

"Okay guys, we're upgrading to Bitcoin 2.0.

This new digital currency has worked out all the bugs found in Bitcoin and is infinitely more efficient and has all these new features not seen in currency before.

Time to upgrade!"

Then everyone will switch over.

DUHHHHHHHHHHH

By your reasoning , if Bill Gates launches a new operating system , you really think everybody will switch to "Doors 8"?
More likely people will start arguing about the new features and about why he had come back and promote this.
Lots will see cia and nsa involvement with his re appearance.
14533  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price at end of 2014? on: December 17, 2013, 10:52:58 AM
I assume the price correlates to adoption (users) vs coin supply. I bought a few coins when they were $27 and sold when it broke $100 thinking that was amazing.

So you really think we have seen a 50x times increase in bitcoin users since January?
I doubt it!
14534  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2013-12-11] CNN: Can Bitcoin replace PayPal? on: December 17, 2013, 10:51:10 AM
I sure hope so. Fraud doesn't exist for a Bitcoin merchant.

So we go from a few people scamming a few vendors , to a few vendors scamming a lot of people Smiley.
Each system has its advantages and its disadvantages , that's why we have lots of payment processors.
14535  Other / Off-topic / Re: Amazon drones, lol on: December 17, 2013, 10:47:28 AM
If they can carry a Ipad  they could go and carry almost 1kg of drugs.
Their advantage will be in numbers , good luck stopping a few thousands of those each day.
14536  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Help! Lost Bitcoin Wallet! on: December 16, 2013, 06:36:02 AM
If the coins were in his wallet , and he didn't had a brain wallet so he could remember his password , the only way to get them would be to recover the wallet.dat for the hdd , and hope it isn't corrupted.

Like a guy from 2010 that bought 1000 BTC had a "brain wallet". What are the odds? Wink

I would consider them better than having that wallet.dat recovered.
Also I said If , give the man a piece of hope at least.
14537  Economy / Goods / Re: [WTS] (Small Pieces of) Gold! on: December 16, 2013, 06:30:44 AM
Aren't there better places to sell gold than on a bitcoin forum?

If you want BTC and you already have a good reputation on the board , it's far better than e-bay.
Also , isn't this the reason we have a Marketplace subforum?

Good luck , with your sales Smiley , I'm not a fan of gold myself.
14538  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Israel running inhumane treatment to the Palestinian. on: December 16, 2013, 06:27:09 AM
I don't care much about the Palestinians. There are around two dozen countries ruled by Muslim Arabs. They can migrate to those countries. On the other hand, Israel is the only Jewish nation. Where will they go?

And another point is that, more than a million Jews were living in Arab countries such as Yemen and Iraq until 1948. All of them were expelled and their assets were seized. I'd like to hear whether the Palestinian activists condemn that expulsion or not.

well we Jews have one other "state"  its rather nice.

The name sounds like Biohazard.
But that isn't an autonomous country  , it's a mix of everything.
Also , I wonder what would they choose now : Madagascar , Uganda or Alaska Smiley.
14539  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Israel running inhumane treatment to the Palestinian. on: December 16, 2013, 06:23:01 AM
Always , before watching a video or reading an article I check the source.
And in this case is RT or Russia Today. Not the best source for fair coverage of the story.
14540  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Meanwhile in Ukraine... Revolution. on: December 16, 2013, 06:16:10 AM
Ukraine can compete with Russian in the size of wheat production.
The Russians have almost 80 000 km2 of land dedicated to wheat production , that's 1/7 of the size of Ukraine.

Amazing fact I discovered while browsing around , Kazakhstan is top 8 in wheat exports. Smiley. Speaking of laziness.
