14441  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [PRE-ANN][DRK] Darkcoin on: December 26, 2013, 02:57:41 PM
And why not 100 000 ...and so on?
There are already people thinking that bitcoin has stopped growing in price because it's huge value for 1 BTC.

With a few gazillions coins the coin might actually succeed since it's target would be 1$ per coin.
Interesting to watch.

Also , for the people concerned about the years... do you have a clue when will the last btc be mined?
14442  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 26, 2013, 02:46:38 PM
Is there a website like blockchain.info with all the graphs?
If not , I'm interested in the hasrate evolution and number of transaction graphs. For a longer period , at least 1 month.

Anything like that?
not sure but qrk has one of the highest trading volumes on cryptsy and other sites

Transactions , not trade volume.
Two different things.
14443  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [QRK] Quark | Super secure hashing | CPU mining on: December 26, 2013, 02:44:37 PM
I've been thinking about the uniqueness of Quark's distribution.

All coins when first issued are raped and dumped by the botnets, etc. In fact no coin can overcome this relentless raping and dumping. All coins nearly die from it. Quark was no exception.

But now because of Quark's distribution, nearly all of its coins have been minted, there can be no more raping and dumping. There is no more constant downward pressure on the price. Now the price can increase with time.

I think that it is this natural price increase that is attractive to hedge fund investors and will result in Quark challenging litecoin's price of 0.025 btc.

What has this to do with the issuing of new coins?
Do you thing people trying to manipulate the price will go away once no more coins are issued?
People will stop dumping ? Why should they?

We know far too well that cryptos are used for 1% shopping and 99% trading right now.

The number of coins minted is very very small compared to the number that exist already. So if newly minted coins are dumped the price will not be affected.

Second, the "botnets" have better coins to mine and dump for profit thanks to the likes of Doge.

Third, big money will buy and hold (hoard) coins for investment purposes. By hoarding, the number of coins traded will decrease, driving up the price. The big money can hoard coins and not worry about millions of new coins minted daily like with Doge and other coins.

First.
It doesn't matter. There is no rule for new coins to be dumped. Old coins can be dumped too to manipulate price.
http://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-quarkcoin-addresses.html
The first holds 5% of the total mined coins. When he's getting drunk in a Saturday night........

Second.
Botnets have only mined cpu coins. Usually botnets don't have the power to compete with scrypt farms or sha256 since the rise of the asics.
That's why the largest botnet stopped mining bitcoins , it wasn't profitable enough.

Third.
It may sound good in theory but hoarding to drive the price up makes people hold to their coins , using it less , driving merchants adoption away and driving the demand down. It's a double edge sword.
And how will the price increase if nobody sells? And why should anybody sell if nobody else sells?
Prisoners dilemma improved and more tricky.

Which cryptocurrency is the most profitable for mining in next few days? Lotto, Fedoracoin?

http://www.wheretomine.com/
http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency

Remember that what's profitable today might not be tomorrow , when all miners switch their rigs to it.

^^ "Let's print more cash so it's worth even less." That's what I think of USD.

And then , taking China into account , how does it sound to peg your currency (the yuan) to this worthless junk like the $.
Not the best move right?
14446  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Graincoin Blockchain Fork Took 1 Million Coin on: December 26, 2013, 01:04:34 PM
@Jollyburner

since the guy befor esaid that he likes who you think , I will say I like how you write or talk:).
Have you considered politics?

Because you managed to write .. what .. 40 rows of .. nothing.
You just said the stuff people already know about alt coins , clones with nothing better than a better reward for mining in the early stages.

and for the last paragraph  , this is not a new prince , this is a parasite feeding from the main crypto.
It brings nothing new but it lures victims into buying it , mining it and taking security as hashrate and investments as money from other coins.
14447  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price at end of 2014? on: December 26, 2013, 12:58:51 PM

Hybrids are all the rage these days. It can be currency, commodity, protocol and so much more.

As for the US$, I just don't believe in it as a viable currency going forward. You can only have your cake and eat it for so long. The US has gorged itself. What's the current debt? How many zeros does it have after it?

So its sunk right now. Just will take a while to "unwind". And the US owes most of the money they can't pay back to China, so draw your own conclusions from that.

I have the impression you're avoiding the question Smiley
So , what's the currency or commodity or something that is more important than the $  right now? Smiley

Anarchism
Every anarchy in existence in history and in the world today result in a bunch of warlords fighting for domination, those petty warlords are either plain dictators, communist dictators, or theocrat dictators.

Fairy tales. Organized violence (patriarchy, warlords, cheftains and chefdoms) is unknown in the whole pre-neolitic history.
Anarchy within the self-sufficient communities was the dominant organization before the homines sapientes were transformed into collectivistic slaves (theocracy/communism/feudalism/capitalism etc.).

Taking into account how much of the pre-neolitic history is still unknown , I would rather not base my arguments on those traces of fragments of evidence.

That you don't know doesn't mean it is unknown.

That reminds me of :
You know everything , do you?
I don't know everything, I just know what I know.

I'm more than serious, but I'm not about to beg them to take BTC.

13k is a "big amount of money" ? Like policy changing?? Doubt it...

Anyway PM me if they ever take it, ill send a hand full of coin their way.

Hmm... you don't have to beg.  Grin

And regarding the policy change, I know people who paid $200 to get "harmful" sections removed from the Wikipedia article dealing with them or their companies. (It was done indirectly. The payment was not made to Wales. Rather it was made to some Wikipedia admins who removed the sections themselves).

Anyway, here is his email ID:  jwales@wikia.com

Trying to convince them in the normal way to take BTC payment has failed , so the only way to make them take your payment would be to beg.
This is what some are doing right now and no , this isn't the right way to do it.

Please allow me to donate some BTC?  common...

Hi guys, what do y'all think about Catcoin? Is it worthy to mine them now or is it too late already?
Cat coin is the most serious coin of DOGE parody. You can start mine it while difficulty is not big.
Are you sure you think about catcoin and not kittehcoin?

Shocked So people are moving on from Doge to Kittycatcoins now for what exactly? The name?

Yeah.
And because they think that there are dog lovers and cat lovers and this will end like the doge coin and they will become kittheh err rich .
And , to answer your question directly:
For the name AND the picture:)

only CAT, the other kitty coins is scum ))

Care to elaborate why?
Beside your own interest in this "coin"?
14452  Economy / Speculation / Re: Price at end of 2014? on: December 26, 2013, 12:31:50 PM
If its the same distance to the exponential trendline as now the price would be at roughly $7000. If its at the trendline the price will be roughly $2500, and if its at the bottom trendline it will be around $750. The most optimistic value would be $10000. If there is a S-kurve developing, there can be no resonable upper price limit imho. So basically more than $750 and less than infinite (probaly less than $10000).

Less than infinite? You are a genius sir Smiley

It will become infinity when $ dies (not next year)  Wink

1) $ isn't the only currency in the world. Hardly the most important these days.

2) Learn something about infinity before applying it to ..... anything.

So , which is the most important in your view?
Because by the way you said that , there are a lot more important that $ and I really can't figure them out.

bitcoin obviously Wink

Seriously, the dollar has to collapse under the weight of its debt within the next 18 months. Other currencies will step up to fill the void, bitcoin included we all hope. But not to infinity or beyond...

Before that bitcoin should solve the Schrodinger dilemma and become either currency or commodity or god knows what it is right now Smiley.

BUT
You said right now , not in the future.
So , which are more important right now? Not in the 18 months you think the dollar will collapse which I find it rather impossible.
14453  Other / Meta / Re: (Suggestion) New sub-forum for novelty coins on: December 26, 2013, 12:30:23 PM
Imagine if bitcoin was all in one sub-forum.
That is entirely the point of having a single altcoin section. If it's sufficiently inconvienient to discuss altcoins here maybe they'll move to their own forum.

I think bothering to create their own forum is too much work for some of these altcoin developers. And all these altcoin forums are usually dead anyway. Even Litcoin's forum gets hardly any activity.

I consider that most of them are coming here because of the already established forum ,with lots of members looking for some quick cash from mining , targeted customers I would say.
If they start their own forum , it will take them a few years to gain the popularity they can achieve here with 10 shills and 2 giveaways from their premined coins.

Personally I think you'd be nuts to throw away coins on getting your jollies, but whatever floats your boat I guess.

Don't get me wrong in this one.
I'm just doing my research on bitcoin adoptions and use.
And I had an argument with the sexcoin fans , which only have a store using that crypto.

I inquired about SR also in the past, although I haven't smoked at least once in my life , not talking about drugs.

Ah "research" haha  Grin.

What was your argument about with sexcoin?

Not my argument , I was debating that each of those coins sexcoin , casinocoin , and gamescoin are intended for a specific market or bussiness.
And how some other members pointed out , there is an escort service accepting bitcoins  , but none accepting sexcoin.
Almost lots of betting websites for bitcoin but almost none for other coins.

And reading through the discussion I tried search on how those alts are really used and can't find really anything about.
Too bad that bitcoin isn't showing results as I was expecting. Lots of grey areas here too.

I wonder how the votes looked like in August.

You can get diff numbers from the block viewer: http://block.lowend.fm/chain/Quarkcoin

While I usually enjoy doing my own research , this will be a pain in the ass to extract the difficulty from that format.
But , lacking an alternative , and lacking other things to do right now , will give it a try.

i dont think they can disapear like that..

If they can make a pink pony coming out of a bag of weed and laugh like that , they can pull this one also.
