1181  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][DASH] Dash (dash.org) | First Self-Funding Self-Governing Crypto Currency on: November 29, 2016, 06:56:05 AM

What happened to your "realism?"

LoLz ! It's alive and well and apparently causing you a few problems with your hair. (Must've been the contraption graphic - I'll try to resist the temptation to post it in future).

Dash hasn't conceded anything in the 'anonymity factor' - especially not to a technology that attempts to call itself "fungible" while imposing a gaping great asymmetry in the coin supply between keyholders and non-keyholders. (The latter of which it depends on for supporting its value b.t.w.  Roll Eyes ).

Unless the Darkcoin people make some major mistakes this coin is on course for complete supremacy in the 'anonymity' sector and valuation will follow accordingly.

Well, we're now 2 years down the line and they still haven't made any "major mistakes" so this opinion still stands. Despite people like you doing their best to conflate concepts of obscurity, anonymity & privacy, cryptographically "hiding" otherwise auditable properties of the blockchain does not augment its monetary properties.

That's not to say there aren't plenty posts that you could embarrass me with out of 6000 or whatever. I'm still waiting for you to trawl up some clangers that I know are in there somewhere and that would be good ammunition for you regarding changes of opinion I've had over the course. I'll leave you to fish them out since I'm about to get my knuckles wrapped by a fellow "cargo cult" members for "feeding the...", so I might abridge my indulgence in our most cordial of exchanges in the interests of world peace.

Happy digging ! Wink

Let's not retreat into generalities about "6000" posts.

Let's stay focused on two of them.

Toknormal before drinking Evan's Gate Kool-Aid:

Some of the valuations being banded about are delusional
We need realism, not hallucinogenic dreamland.
Try for $10 and feel damn lucky if we get it.

Toknormal after drinking Evan's Gate Kool-Aid:

I see a justified price of 3-4 BTC for one DRK

I couldn't agree more with this post.

Unless the Darkcoin people make some major mistakes this coin is on course for complete supremacy in the 'anonymity' sector and valuation will follow accordingly.

Gee, that cargo cult initiation ceremony must have been one hell of a party to irrevocably send you into "hallucinogenic dreamland."

And BTW, the 'accidental' Instamine counts as a "major mistake" as does the rebrand to Dash, which entailed quitting+conceding the race for a truly private/fungible e-cash.
1182  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: November 29, 2016, 06:44:03 AM
I'm with you on being bearish on Bitcoin.  Even though it might go up in the next year or two, I can't stand using it.  I transferred some BTC from Polo to Circle pay today and it took over 2.5 hours for it to show up in my Circle account.  There is no way that will be adopted mainstream if that continues to be the case.  We want instant gratification, and results.

With that said, how quickly does XMR transactions settle?  I'm bullish on it from a trading perspective but don't have good technical comprehension of the specs.

Honey Badger just doesn't care about all the FUD and moaning.  Never has, never will.   Smiley

Such pessimism has dogged Bitcoin from $1 to $10 to $100 to $1000, and I expect/accept the buttcoiner paradigm will endure until we get to somewhere between $10k and $100k, when central banks will use it as part of their foreign exchange reserve asset SDR basket.

If you unreasonably expect Bitcoin's trustless, resilient, decentralized consensus critical network to replace mutable, centralized 3rd party services like Visa and Paypal, that's your problem, not Bitcoin's.

How I wish I could send funds to my stock broker with BTC in 2.5 hours instead of 2.5 business days with ACH.   Cheesy

And I've never had to wait 2.5 hours for Polo to send BTC, so that's probably due to Circle's conservative policy and/or variance.

Bitcoin tx broadcast instantly, so if you are gratified with that, it's fine.  Currently, we can't have instant confirmations in crypto.  The trade-offs involved preclude such crypto-magic until we get payment channels (which are coming Soon® after segwit activates).

Since the Monero network is far less secure than Bitcoin's, you must wait proportionally longer for the same degree of confirmation reliability (ie irreversibility) .

Let's very generously assume Monero has 10% of Bitcoin's blockchain security/immutability (best way to measure the different PoW is probably by how much electricity each consumes).  6 confirmations are recommended for Bitcoin so at 10 minutes each that's 1 hour.  Now multiply that by 10 to account for Monero's relative strength, and we get 6 [edit: derp] 10 hours.
1183  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: ANN [XC] Privacy Based Smart Chain with Automated Build System on: November 28, 2016, 03:39:09 PM
Right? I don't get the lack of interest in this coin. If the tech is open source and is at least as good as any of the other privacy options out there, how does it have such a low mcap? It seems like it should be worth at least as much as SDC. Especially given the recently renewed interest in privacy options a la XMR and ZEC. I remember a time when the DASH (or rather, DARK) community ran a full-on balls-to-the-wall coordinated FUDfest because they were afraid of this coin. I mean, for people who can read the code, what is it about this coin that when they look into it, they go, 'This coin is not worth buying at this price.'?

Maybe it's just because it's not mine-able? I know the mining had to be stopped early because it was in danger of 51% attacks. Is it a problem that it's PoS only and there are a few ppl with over 5%, and several that own over 1%?

Maybe it's just that it seems like it's dead, even if it's not, because there is no activity here (or anywhere else that's easily searchable) from devs/community. As far as I know you can't google the slack logs, so unless you sign up for the slack and log in all the time, there's no way to know what's going on. I don't know what it is, but it could probably use a little bit of marketing, or at the very least a sign of a pulse.

The privacy is based on CoinShuffle, which is not competitive with Bitcoin, much less XMR's passive obfuscation, because it requires other active participants to mix coins with.

Given XC has no active users, there are no other coins to mix.

So while CoinShuffle works OK for BTC's very high volume, it's completely ineffective for XC.

If the coin seems like it's dead, it probably is.

This thread was just a brief revival for pump and dump creation.

Looks alright to me aside from the sketchy no name developers?

Kodomo is yet another jl777 scam.

He's started and abandoned dozens of them already.

Kodomo is an attempt to wring more money out of the gullible BitcoinDark and SuperNET buying types.

I stopped reading at "Marketing Team"

Why ?

Because i fought with you guys for a ages over the fact you had one with Monero.
And all the usual suspects would caw like crows "we don't have one"
Bullshit.. you do and i have previously proven it.

An your comment here just shows how bad of a lying sack of shit you all are.

You spew so much fucking bullshit here year after year you can't keep your stories straight.

I don't care what the fuck Dash guys have been up to..
They don't compare to the fraudulent little cock suckers loitering around crypto all this time.

Morono = Tornado of Fraud.

We Mustangs have always been honest and upfront about limiting our marketing to word of mouth efforts.  We don't really do that as a team though.  Perhaps after the GUI is done we'll consider starting and/or funding teams....

OTOH, Dash (WHICH IS THE SUBJECT OF THE THREAD) taxes every block to raise money for its revolving door of crappy marketing teams.

Among other try-hard attempts to make Dash happen, they hired an amateur nobody group: https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/proposal-dash-force-dash-community-energizer.10820/

and a professional outfit, Transform PR, which turned into a hilarious tornado of drama: https://www.dash.org/forum/threads/budget-system-v2-transform-pr.7991/page-6#post-84840

Still have nothing snotty to say about MAST?

No. Because I can tell the difference between "innovation", "optimisation" & "extension" and my bitcoin cheerleading credentials are as intact as your's if you care to check.

At the same time - and no matter how hard people like you try to plaster on the makeup - its nodes remain dumb, the one thing that did need to change to qualify for "innovation". It's a choir that can only sing in unison, not harmony - never more than the sum of its parts which is why....it constantly needs "to add more parts" !  Cheesy

I'm sure that bitcoin's approach - extending the scaffolding out the way to firefight against scaling, fungibility and useability challenges - may see some success. It just won't be "innovative" since it's what you do when you can't think of anything else  Smiley

Sorry, I'm not impressed by your 2013 Generation Gox sign up date and last 2.5 years of posts avoiding any topic that is not Darkcoin/Dash.

Coming on board as BTC was spiking to $1000 along with all the other day trading Eternal September get-rich-quick Class of 2013 freshman only establishes you never had any credentials to start with.

"Constantly?"  That word doesn't mean what you think it does; Bitcoin does not "constantly add more parts" because contentious hard forks are by design impossible.

"Difference?"  Optimizations and extensions are two kinds of innovations, not different concepts.  Otherwise the phrases 'innovative optimizations' and 'innovative extensions' would fail the logic parser, rather than being in common usage.

Again, your mischaracterizations of Team Core's accomplishments as 'not innovative' are misleading and risible FUD.

But we both know you are playing the No True Innovation game, to avoid admitting Bitcoin's future is far brighter than Dash's.   Wink

Fascinating how your relationship with Darkcoin/Dash has evolved from healthy skepticism to full on Kool-Aid chugging cargo cult lunacy.

Before you were became overinvested in Darkcoin/Dash, you were on occasion remarkably rational compared to what you have now become:

Im not trying to spread FUD, but i feel its wrong to give newbies false hopes and have people dig deep into their pockets into such a risky investment, which goes for all cryptos, and DRK is still dropping, which i was expecting, so what if it goes back to $2? It still has the potential to get up to $100 if it is indeed a solid coin.

+1000

nzminer is bang on the money here. Do NOT get emotionally attached to an investment unless you actually work in it. It just becomes a cult which then degenerates into a snarling cesspit of adversarial factions. Some of the valuations being banded about are delusional and people need to go and take a look at the archive of [ANN] threads for some of the now dead coins around. In particular take a look at the valuations that Blackcoin was GUARANTEED to have after 6 months.

Darkcoin is part of a greater cryptoeconomy ecosystem. It will not survive by trying to dominate or compete with that ecosystem. It WILL grow steadily if it works constructively within that ecosystem to the benefit of its own holders and the holders of other currencies.

In this regard getting to the next dollar is hard enough in this market, never mind talking about hundreds. We need realism, not hallucinogenic dreamland.

Try for $10 and feel damn lucky if we get it.

Snarling cesspit of adversarial factions?  Ironically, that's what the "emotionally invested" Dash community has become while fighting over the Free Shit controlled by the cargo cult priest class.

Now compare the above paragon of prudence with this wishful thinking:

I see a justified price of 3-4 BTC for one DRK at the current level of supply. The extreme leverage might even bubble it up much higher for some time.
Its just a state of the art financial instrument, in contrast to BTC or LTC.

I couldn't agree more with this post.

Unless the Darkcoin people make some major mistakes this coin is on course for complete supremacy in the 'anonymity' sector and valuation will follow accordingly.

What happened to your "realism?"  What it consumed by the overweening greed so readily apparent in your early shitposts about day trading?

What made you abandon the "realism" of "try for $10" and embrace "hallucinogenic dreamland?"

Did you at the Evan's Gate cult initiation ceremony overdose on illicit botanical extracts purchased from dark markets?

How sad that Dash has conceded to Monero and abandoned the 'anonymity factor' that initially sold you on its grandiose prospects.

How poetic for your present scamcoin shill/apologist persona to be so damned by the words of your formerly lucid self.   Undecided

Lightning-type write caching is definitely an innovation.

Ok, for a "techno-trainspotter" I accept you might see that as "innovative", at least on the level of...

TaoOfSpamtoshi
...which (apologies to Tao) I'll admit is one of your slightly more entertaining ones. (We need to open a special section in 'Urban Dictionary' for those).

Sorry I pricked your sense of pride w.r.t. "innovative technologies" b.t.w.. I'll try to be more sensitive in future   Cheesy

Still have nothing snotty to say about MAST?  Probably because you have no clue what it is.

Still no FUD to spew about Rootstock?  Quick, better think of something because it'll be here long before Dash Evolution.

I'm very proud of Satoshi and the rest of Team Core's accomplishments, although my role was merely trainspotting, hodling, and cheerleading.

Regardless, your mischaracterizations of those accomplishments as 'not innovative' are misleading and risible FUD.

EG, try disabling the write-caching on your hard drive and let me know how you like living without that innovation tier.   Wink

But we understand you must bitterly cling to your cargo cult's cherished self-serving doctrine of "Bitcoin Can't InnovateTM" no matter what.

Bitcoin innovations like segwit, Lightning, Rootstock MAST, and Mimblewimble?

"Lightning" is an innovation ? I thought it was a tier, made necessary by the fact that Bitcoin can't innovate.

"segwit" is an innovation ? It's called stuffing more into less space - also made necessary by the fact that Bitcoin can't innovate. (See "Winzip")

Mimblewimble is yet another bitcoin non-compatible sidechain candidate (again, made necessary by the fact that...)

"Innovation" in this space is:

 • creating a dynamically articulated network topography that allows the network to scale natively without "bolt ons"
 • enhancing fungibility without simultaneously shooting yourself in the foot through creating an asymmetrically auditable coin supply
 • supporting a hi-fidelity cash archetype by giving priority to the front end of the confirmation window natively
 • have the protocol support non-native clients that can break the glass ceiling on "usability"

Just sayin - innovation can be many things, but one thing it isn't is "more of the same", which is why this....

To any Twitts, the new hashtag is #CashAlternative. Let's take over this hashtag, it will be very important later.

I purchased http://cashalternative.co.

...is a great idea !  Wink

It's a great idea for TaoOfSpamtoshi to only post his drivel once, rather than waste forum resources for his self-indulgent duplicate posting.

Yes, segwit is an innovation.  It pays off massive technical debt (not that you know what that means), including the malleability fix that enables Lightning.

And segwit as a softfork is an innovative implementation of the underlying innovation, which has been on the roadmap for years.

Lightning-type write caching is definitely an innovation.  Not sure why you'd think the fact it enables Layer 1.5 changes (rather than evidences) that.

Nothing snotty to say about MAST?  Probably because you have no clue what it is.

No FUD to spew about Rootstock?  Quick, better think of something because it'll be here long before Dash Evolution.

Your post is pure sour grapes.  Dash isn't keeping up with all the innovations occurring in Bitcoin, so you get all defensive and pissy, then just start making up new defintions of "innovation" suitable to your anti-Bitcoin, cargo cult coin ideology.   Smiley

Enough Dash spam.

You don't need to post that long, boring story twice.

The plea for attention was sufficiently plaintive the first time.

Why don't you instead explain how Dash is going to be able to keep up with Bitcoin innovations like segwit, Lightning, Rootstock MAST, and Mimblewimble?
1192  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Drug free in the Philippines on: November 28, 2016, 07:53:53 AM
if he gone mad he would have not allowed people to do demonstration and protesting against him. normally, we see people who are against the norms and against laws on tv series but when on real lives, we always see ourselves on the right path even when its not.

Allowing rightfully-outraged people to protest the death squads, which have committed acts of extrajudicial killings on a scale reportedly approaching genocidal levels, does not make the state-sanctioned mass murder OK.

Obviously.  Well, not obviously to you.

Here, let's try to fix that regrettable lack of basic human decency and mangled understanding of effective governance:

Quote
Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte's drug war an act of 'genocide'

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte recently admitted what has been plain since he took office and the killings started: He's committing genocide.

"Hitler massacred 3 million Jews," he said. (The actual number is 6 million). "Now ... there's 3 million drug addicts ... I'd be happy to slaughter them" to "finish the problem of my country and save the next generation from perdition".

Nearly 3000 people have already been gunned down, either by police or vigilante death squads, encouraged by Duterte, who has promised immunity. About 600,000 have also turned themselves in, many now caged in hideously crowded prisons that already look like concentration camps.

But most of the world has remained silent. President Obama has not publicly condemned these actions, and the United States actually pledged US$32 million ($44.8m) in aid to support Philippine law enforcement - and not only for the usual political reasons. Instead, this genocide is being ignored because, for too long, the dehumanisation of people who use drugs and calls for their death have been an acceptable part of the "drug war".

Indeed, while human rights organisations have condemned Duterte, many felt the need to explicitly reject any connection between Duterte's victims and Hitler's. "The comparison of drug users and dealers to Holocaust victims is inappropriate and deeply offensive," Todd Gutnick, the communications director for the Anti-Defamation League, told Reuters.

I disagree. I am both a child of a Holocaust survivor and a person who has struggled with addiction.

I do not believe anyone deserves to be murdered either for their religion or because they have a substance that governments have declared illegal coursing through their veins. Until we recognise that killing people for taking drugs we dislike is no more acceptable than murdering them for blasphemy, practising the wrong religion or witchcraft, we will not have decent - let alone effective - drug policy.

Monero has nothing to do with the fact Dash, rather than having a " solid marketing team" as claimed, actually has a dysfunctional marketing team (which is a reflection of the dysfunction in the larger Dash community cargo cult.

Excuse the hell out of me for correcting the untrue assertion with evidence contrary to the preferred DashHole narrative.

LOL, no.

The Dash marketing team could barely get a Dash-powered soda machine set up in time to show McAffee, and was so put off by the experience one of them rage quit, having learned to hate that soda machine and Dash in the process.
1195  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Drug free in the Philippines on: November 28, 2016, 02:05:52 AM
As one well-known historical and political figure, that religion is the opium of the people. But the power, it is also a drug, and many for the sake of this power not only to talk, but will do anything. Therefore, you need to look for performance. Will the new chosen to overcome drug or not. And that says it is nonsense.
I don't know any country that would have won the drugs. Why Philippines should be the exception? No I do not think that they have something. Most likely it will exacerbate konlikta in the country.

Duterte has gone mad with power, and is acting crazier than an addict at the end of a shabu binge.

This code was never included on Mainnet, was developed on Vertoe's personal Github and was purely created to help with testing on Testnet.
