good luck with the ice storm.  Not much you can do...this recap from the 98 one is a good watch.  I still remember the horrowing sounds of trees falling everywhere day and night under the weight of the ice.

everyone in Canada thinks those truckers are complete idiots.  Plus a lot are out of fuel in Ottawa, freezing in their cabs.  Brought kids, but no food.  The border crossing is even more idiotic, considering they are mostly blocking their fellow truckers from getting home/working.  Even the trucker association called them out for being complete morons.  Opposition parties tried to get some steam by supporting them, then quickly backtracked after they realized how dumb this whole thing is.  Bitcoin ?  Bitcoin ?!?  99% of those people hate bitcoin and probably think its a lizard-alien-freemason conspiracy or some shit.

They can also do a classic switch-a-roo by making a big mac basically a mini-mac and then coming out with a Grand Big Mac which would basically be an old big mac.  You just got devalued Argentina style.
Oh wait  Grin  How you lovin' it now ?
65  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Number 9! Ninth altcoin thread. Back to the moon Baby! on: January 28, 2022, 07:56:51 PM
Those are good numbers.  I remember my ~80x 470s ran 3-4 years with <5% failures, but it was clean and fans ~50% also.  the 5700xt fans are 85%+.  I miss my 470s, but they were all 4G.  They were also all Sapphires.  EVGA and Sapphire is my top tier if I had a list.  Nice to see you have a lot more gear, must of been fun setting it all up.  I really hate wood burning - I put a MPR2200 filter on my air intake for the furnace outside the house.  I bet within a week it'll be black.

Just a random post about fan quality on gpus.  I have a bunch of 5700xt.  Here are failure rates (bad fans/total) after 18 months give or take.  Area had quite a bit of dust i'm afraid to say due to people heating mainly with wood in my area, which on a sidenote, is retarded for many reasons.  PM2.5 is frequently elevated depending on weather conditions.  Normal dust filters do not capture micro particles.
Sapphire dual : 0 %
Asus dual : 25%
Asrock dual: 10 %
XFX triple : 15%
The Sapphire Pulse dual fans are top notch, I would sell all the others and just keep those.

9) I view the question differently.  I need some DOWN action, maybe around 28k-31k for a very short time period, say 24-36 hours.  Then I know the UP motion will be in for good.  Assuming the cycle hasn't ended until the next one.  Assuming cycles still exist.  However the drop to 32-33k was very short and that may have been what I was looking for, therefore the UP is confirmed.  So in conclusion, I have no idea.

"By removing Eth2 terminology, we save all future users from navigating this confusing mental model."

Can't make this shit up.  Once a shitcoin, always a shitcoin.  I still haven't forgiven them for spamming the whole internet with eth propaganda at/after the premined presold unregistered illegal initial security offering

gaming the close on futures is illegal.  However gaming the spot price in bitcoin is hardly enforceable...

I couldnt make this up even if i was creative enough to do it.   Cheesy

edit: the moral of the story is bitcoin is like the internet, not a fad.  those companies on the other hand...

What are you guys opinion on the best option to turn crap into gold (ETH -> BTC) ?  no kyc of course.  I havent used an exchange in a very long time.

send me a pm

awe Thanks for the offer, I have dunnit with fixedfloat, but i'd rather have given you the fees.  Next time ill pm you!  Feels good to put some more bitcoin in cold storage.  I also have a small (and beautifully artistic) gold coin in there just as a reminder of what people used to do in the dark ages.

So other than a fee the service works well.  I estimate it to be around 3/4 of 1% when all is said and done.    Thanks again for the suggestion.

Current real interest rates are NEGATIVE.  rates on 10yr went up .4%, they are still -0.60%.  30 year is negative 0.05%.  !!!  As per treasury data (https://www.treasury.gov/resource-center/data-chart-center/interest-rates/pages/TextView.aspx?data=realyield)

Calls for banning of POW mining will get very loud soon.  The big economies cannot allow capital/debt to flow into bitcoin.  It might get nasty.  I say bring it.

77  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Tokens (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][ICO][NCR] ☀️ Neos VR: The First Metaverse Built From Within ☀️ on: January 20, 2022, 03:34:15 AM
Alright, updates, updates, updates.  Let's have a look at what's going on.
->MMC22 competition is live in a week or so with over 100k NCR as prize money, so go ahead and enter its worth it.

As for NCR....well that's another story.  So since the pump up to 10$ almost and the following inevitable dump (as all shitcoins do) to 3$ there have been a few concerning issues with the ICO.

The Neos team has indicated that staking will begin in Q1, but no other news has been given.  Recently over 1million ncr has come out of the deployer address (no eth going in), but no explanation was given other than "book keeping".  In any case, staking will only dilute small holders who wont put up the fees to stake their ncr and does nothing really for liquidity or in game economy.  No other changes have been proposed publicly.

The patreon has grown to be one of the biggest patreon's out there.  That is because you get NCR with your patreon pledge, depending on the amount.  They opened up a lot of high tier packages, the top ones which give access to so called "board meetings" where strategy and other issues are discussed with the team members.  So basically in a way, some users have complained this is a pay for inside information thing, and aren't too happy about it.  It creates a lot of rumors and hype/fear cycles that team members/board members/some ncr channel moderator can trade on.  It does raise a big ethical question.

The contract still has 5000 ETH in it, which is a large amount.  However, the actual amount deposited is over 2-3x that amount.  There was a big "buyback", which raised a bunch of red flags, at around 6$, then 5$ which basically served to permit large (and small i guess) pumpers/team members to cash out without crashing the price.  That also raised a big ethical question.

---

Now for the actual game (which is still fun and still has amazing people in it)

The last update/build for the client was pushed on November 10th as per steamdb.  So almost 3 months, no updates.  Take into consideration this is a game that used to have basically DAILY updates.  The lead dev has not been seen for that time and there are rumors of conflict within the team.  So no updates have been pushed to the client and none are scheduled afaik.

The last tweet from the lead dev is from November.
The last tweet from the official account is from December 3rd afaik, but has retweeted a bunch of stuff.

No real official communications since then.  So basically, get a bunch of money and go silent.

From this point we can go a few ways -> maybe they will update the client and release new features, etc and expand NCR capabilities, maybe with a staking contract and a L2 solution in game.  Who knows ?  Just as likely that nothing will happen for a while and that indicates other possibilities, like the company getting bought out, taking the ETH with them and leaving all ncr holders with, well, NCR tokens.  ncr tokens do not entitle the hodler to anything really, there is no DAO or claim on the ETH in the contract address.

So I do not know what happens from here, however it is a really good game and platform but I have to say the number of red flags popping up are just too numerous and important to ignore.

This will be my last post on this topic, SLATFATF.

I think they know....probably bought it from themselves for a quick wealth transfer from DAO investors.
"Contributors are given a $SPICE token in return for their funds, serving as a governance token in Spice DAO's proposal system".  What better way to extract ETH in the contract than to buy something you can get for less than 1% of the sold price.

excluding the top "contributors", which may just be team members who maybe just sold a book to themselves, they seem to have (1200+ETH-800) so 400ETH from small investors idiots.  No one has put any money in this DAO for 2 months.

Scammers be scamming, and the media keeps reporting ill-researched and click bait titles.  sums up the whole NFT/dao "market".  Just my 2 satoshis. (for the media, thats a play on my 2 cents, which means its my opinion, which means maybe hire a competent journalist or something?)

edit: i may be grumpy this morning, neighbour snow removal service is putting his snow on my property and in the street in front of my house when I have already enough of it as it is and there is plenty of room for him to blow it on his.  made him plow it back yesterday, next time i'll send a sand worm

80  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is the Metaverse a bubble? on: January 11, 2022, 06:15:18 PM
well maybe stop investing in "metaverse" projects, which are basically NFT's or just erc-20 tokens with a flashy website, a semi-functional "game" or software that hardly anyone plays or bothers to visit.  There are actual people making real VR / metaverse projects.  not many of those have crypto included in that.  I'd plug in NeosVR as one.  sandbox you can't really play or do anything, decentraland sortof but its pretty limited in what you can do as a player, etc, etc.  VRchat, roblox types might not qualify as metaverse and they dont have crypto.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ylfzy-whs5c
