Interested to know how they gonna do this. I'd very like to buy cheap coins from the US Gov Cheesy

Unfortunately they aren't stupid.  They won't sell them all on a single day.  My guess is 2600 lots of 10 btc sold over 2 months.

If a big lot will be very useful to find out whether the whales are paying over or under the odds.   Given the publicity around this and the relatively small number ($22 mill)  I will lean towards over.  It would not be a good look if these went for $12 million if the current market price holds.

Different story with 126k coins because that is starting to be real money.

Care to explain to the non Mandarin speakers what all the numbers mean?

Zero fees + bots = huge volumes even if it's just the same 20 btc going round and round in circles.

Daily volume under these circumstances is pretty meaningless.

My single largest investment is in my education - tech literacy in a rising technocracy. Bitcoin is only one facet of that. I am deep into automation as well.

Physical assets are mostly real estate with some shares and bitcoin.  But those are less important in the scheme of things.

I am willing to offer the US government up to $20 for the coins.

Silk Road dump incoming - 26,000 coins.  FBI has said they are going to sell.  Judge has approved sale.

Are you actually stupid or were you just trolling with that?

Can you at least try to play along?  I would like to lower my dollar cost average.  Remember we are supposed to be a team here.

Just says a judge has approved the forfeiture of 26,000 coins as proceeds of crime (no this does not mean btc is a currency any assets can be seized as "proceeds").

In the real world 90% or more of all diamonds mined have been held back from market creating artificial scarcity. This is starting to break down now and diamond prices are starting to fall.

I have heard one miner claim that a single block eruptor has enough processing power to process all current transactions on the entire bitcoin network.

Obviously it would be massively profitable on transaction fees alone (without even thinking about block reward) so I don't think we need to worry about running out of processing power.

It will break sideways through the tip.
8033  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: [IPO] CoinFinder - Decentralized BTC-fiat currency exchange system on: January 16, 2014, 11:49:19 AM
Nice ideas but can't see them getting past the "he said, she said" problem with fiat transfers.  The arbitrator has no way of knowing which one is being truthful.

Thanks for your question,
the system will provide a set of standard transfer process, according to the requirements of steps in to save the transfer records ,The fact that we have already had a plan to judge whether the real line transfer.

More detail please.  We all know bank deposit slips are very ease to fake.
8034  Economy / Speculation / Re: Vague similarities... on: January 16, 2014, 11:39:46 AM
My thoughts are that people have "news fatigue" right now (I am certainly feeling it) and it is going to take much stronger FUD or good news to impact on the market.   Eg Ghash is back at 38% and no one cares.  So I am expecting a period of stability unless something really really drastic happens.  Of course Bitcoin loves to bite you on the ass so you can never be too sure but there you are.
8035  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Silk Road Research site legality on: January 16, 2014, 10:31:23 AM
It's not illegal in Australia to view Silk Road but you may be inviting unnecessary government attention to yourself.  Australia actively shares web traffic data with the US and UK security services.

Bitcoin needs a closer association with drugs like it needs a hole in the head.
