161  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank Run on: February 10, 2014, 10:14:16 PM
When someone is less trustworthy than a bank, I don't think it's out of bounds to assume the worst, especially when said individual has had this service shut down what, 10 or 20 times in a year or two?

You'd think about 10 or 20 times people would assume this is just their normal operating procedure  Grin

When I see people complain about it, I want to shake them upside down in real life, and take all the money that falls out of their pockets away and send it to Mt. GoXXX.  Just to save them the effort.

Christ, by the sounds of it you may need to go out and get a job to pay your rent!

What's an elderly man of 25 to do!?!?!

I had a regular job I have lost it now I am trying to go on with brief temporary part time jobs but it is very hard. You have no idea how hard it is to find a job in Italy in these days, if you are not Friend-to-someone-important.

Sell handjobs at the Vatican.  I guarantee you'll make more than you ever would have with BitCoin.

Close.

1.) People send BTC to GOXXX
2.) GOXXX Takes the BTC
3.) Nobody can withdraw
165  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank Run on: February 10, 2014, 10:05:39 PM
Maybe they "fully tilted" the table on its side, and let all of your chips slide into their pockets
166  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is already the most stable store of value. on: February 10, 2014, 10:04:35 PM
Jenga is already the most stable store of board games.
167  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Massive 41,700 BTC transaction just happened on: February 10, 2014, 10:03:56 PM
I was wondering where all the Mt Gox coins went Tongue

LOL I'm SURE that MagicalPenguin will open up his books and show you!

I can't wait until someone from the Russian mob or something like that can't get their BTC out and they hunt this guy down.  Something tells me he'll make an exception and open the exchange Smiley
169  Other / Off-topic / Re: lost half of my whole money, my history on: February 10, 2014, 10:01:55 PM
Seems legit.

Send me your email, I actually had a Nigerian prince email me saying he had millions of dollars to give me.  I don't really need it, so maybe he can send it to you instead?
170  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank Run on: February 10, 2014, 10:00:39 PM

My brain mustlve edited it out, because 1/3rd of the article is about bank runs and how MtGox is experiencing on (at zero speed, due to no withdrawals). Thanks for pointing that out.

My personal opinion is just that they're stealing it.

Look at it this way - a bank will say "We can't afford for everyone to cash out, so we are closing our doors" or whatever.

This guy is giving out less information than a bank.

When someone is less trustworthy than a bank, I don't think it's out of bounds to assume the worst, especially when said individual has had this service shut down what, 10 or 20 times in a year or two?

Fortunately BitCoins don't count as money legally, or the dude would be in jail.  He better hope he's not fucking around with the mob's money.

I used to play online poker professionally.  This is eerily similar to what happened with Full Tilt Poker.  Its been more than 2 1/2 years since they shut down and players have still not received their funds back.

AFAIK all players got paid by now. Fulltilt is back up running.

I read it on the internet.  Must be true.
172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Minimal "Bitcoin Accepted here" buttons on: February 10, 2014, 09:56:38 PM

173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to NOT be a victim of a sting operation on: February 10, 2014, 09:55:37 PM
use encrypted email and dont be a jackass about who you do business with

Exactly.  The government can't crack "Encrypted" communications.

They have to rely on noticing encrypted communications and hacking the computers at both ends, which they are almost 100% successful at.

How not to be a victim of a sting operation:

"Don't break the law or assist others in breaking the law"

Quote
Mt. Gox is operating under a system of fractional reserves

Where did that come from? They don't do loans, and have no reason to do fractional reserve. Is there a source for this claim?

"What may be happening"

That's the part you edited out to help you take it out of context properly.

I don't think it's fractional reserves personally, I think it's fractional theft, and the source for that is watching their constant hacks and scams and Uberfails.
175  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GOXXXED AGAIN! on: February 10, 2014, 09:51:38 PM
You were warned numerous times to stay away from Gox. It is your own fault.

Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me

Is it like daisies with "he loves me, he loves me not"

Where if you get goxxxed 20 times its your fault, but on the 21st time it isn't, 22nd time its your fault, 23rd it isn't?
176  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GOXXXED AGAIN! on: February 10, 2014, 09:50:14 PM
You were warned numerous times to stay away from Gox. It is your own fault.

Exactly.  And they NEVER listen.  They listen to the guy magicalpenguin or whatever "Oh hey, everything's great now guys, gimme all dem BTCs I'll make you rich!" and BANG! GOXXXED AGAIN!

Over and over and over and over.  I've lost count how many scams they've run.

"Uhhh, we have an uhh, 'technical problem'.  Yeah.  There's a technical problem with the withdrawals no longer working.  You can still deposit though.  We'll uhhh... fix the uhhh... 'problem' soon... or you can withdraw your money now if you pay us to send you your own money"

...but it's not a pyramid scheme!
177  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: GOXXXED AGAIN! on: February 10, 2014, 09:47:50 PM

Keep up the good work!

Its called desperation trying to HOPE to get their BTC/money back.   Undecided

No.  Desperation and hope was the first time this happened, or maybe the second or third... This is what, 10 or 20 times they've fucked large groups of people over?

This is people making a conscious decision to be stupid.  The people continuing to send their BTC to them deserve to get broke.
178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Forum member that found the glitch and gave back 100 BTC Last week! on: February 10, 2014, 09:46:03 PM
Allow me to settle the dispute -

All involved are neither white hats nor black hats.  You are all asshats.
179  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Western Union DEAD in the Water !!! on: February 10, 2014, 09:45:07 PM
Seems logical - just get every Wal Mart, grocery store, and bodega to drop Western Union and pick up bitcoin.

Remove any fraud controls whatsoever, yeah, sounds good!

Side note:

I am accepting BTC payments for fractional shares of the Brooklyn Bridge.
180  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Bank Run on: February 10, 2014, 09:42:23 PM
Ask them.

LOL! THIS!

omg I get so much joy with these regular hacks/crashes/thefts/whatever the F they are doing over there.
