I'm just raising out there how inconsistent this world is. Suddenly MtGox is 18% insolvent and it is in all the media. However people don't realise that most (or all) of their banks have less percentage of their deposits than MtGox.
Apples and spaceshuttles. Mt Gox is uninsured and unregulated. Banks are government regulated and FDIC insured, in America. Pretending Mt Gox in any way resembles a bank is a fool's errand. It's like comparing a drug dealer on Silk Road to the pharmacy at Walgreen's, except that Silk Road drug dealers are more likely to deliver your product than Mt. Gox. |

What have we learned in regards to things being unregulated?
The currency you are all so passionate about... everyone wants to sue people, and get the government involved, and "what if it was a bank" etc.

oh almost forgot, my lawyer contacted WBK Bank Zachodni today to ask for information, and he was told they are aware of the mt.gox poland situation but cannot comment at this point. Also WBK Bank Zachodni has been recently receiving fucking tons of phone calls about refunds but it doesn't work like that over here, you have to sue, banks won't help you.
It's kind of the same in the US, except they don't help you even if you sue. If you sue and win, the government just gives them money. If you spend all your money and go bankrupt as a bank, the government punishes you by giving you more money. The US Gov is like a typical GoXXX customer basically. |

I think you're missing the more important point from that scandal, which was the first GOXXXing that I remember anyhow... It was revealed that they didn't have any outside parties auditing their books or verifying their security practices.
That never changed!
