561  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: my linux box was hacked today and almost 400 BTC were stolen! on: June 23, 2011, 01:23:01 AM
Because it was reasonable to foresee that a hack was possible (anybody read the news), OP can't claim it's all the hacker's fault.

Yeah, and if a thief breaks into your house, you can't really blame the thief because you know that locks can be picked, it's partly your fault for not staying in your house all the time with an automatic weapon.

But if 5 of your 10 neighbors say "I left the door unlocked and I got robbed this weekend", and the cops tell you "Lock your doors" and you dont, then you go to the cops and say "I got robbed!  I left my door unlocked, but you didn't stop them! The police department should reimburse me, as should all of my neighbors!"
562  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa and Banks After BTC on: June 23, 2011, 01:19:43 AM
like I said take it or leave it,  I CARE NOT

I actually agree with your post, BTC is definitely an enemy of the credit card companies.

Yes, I agree also.  I know personally the thing I hate about my credit cards is being able to dispute transactions and reverse them if I get screwed, and their complete lack of insecurity for the web interface.  I don't want to go through the hassle of typing in passwords or two factor authentication.  I'd rather if someone wants to borrow some money, they can just download my account info from Pirate Bay.
563  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa and Banks After BTC on: June 23, 2011, 01:16:43 AM
Do your sources hand out tin foil hats along with this sort of information?  Just curious.

Yea, Banks and alike are known to be always trustworthy and never have any scandals related to lying, cheating, stealing, etc.

"Let's stop cashing in billions of dollars a year... there's an online currency worth literally millions of dollars, theoretically!"

I agree... this bank scandal has to be real.  This is the new derivatives scam.
564  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: my linux box was hacked today and almost 400 BTC were stolen! on: June 23, 2011, 01:14:08 AM
seems online banks get hacked frequent enough and it isn't the end of the USD yet Tongue
If people paid you in bitcoins for a product, you need to ship that product regardless if you are now out of the money.
It isn't their fault your security was lax.

The USD is crashing!  SELL ALL YOUR USD!!!
565  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just had 300 million sperm stolen on: June 23, 2011, 01:13:07 AM
what about the word 'sperm'? you should include sperm

There's only 1 topic with "sperm" in it.  There's DOZENS of all the others.
566  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Visa and Banks After BTC on: June 23, 2011, 01:12:21 AM
My sources are telling me that there is a reason I have a bottle of hand lotion near this computer...

Visa makes more in a day than the entire BTC economy is worth.  Stop believing/making up silly sources.  You just sound like a silly person.
567  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just had 300 million sperm stolen on: June 23, 2011, 01:11:16 AM
We can make that rule. Just to please you.
Yes please... Please, please me!
568  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I just had 300 million sperm stolen on: June 23, 2011, 01:10:50 AM
It's just ridiculous.  It's bad enough I have to wade neck deep through homeless beggars on the way home from work, now I have to hear somebody whine about how they took a ton of bitcoins up front and then lost the money?  Cry me a fucking river.  If you're posting here, obviously you've seen the dozens of threads about how this person got hacked and how to secure your wallet.

"I just need a dollar to go buy some food!" when someone is missing all their teeth and high off their mind...

Stupidity aside, I'd be EMBARASSED to come on here after a week like we've all had and ADMIT that I got robbed.

569  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / I just had 300 million sperm stolen on: June 23, 2011, 01:02:23 AM
Seriously.  Someone assaulted me with their SausageWallet.dat on Sunday, and stole 300 million perfectly good sperm.

Can we make it a rule now that nobody can use the following words in posts:

Gox
Tradehill
Stolen
Hacked
Silk Road
Japan
Namecoin
MagicalTux
Lulz
Lolz

Thanks.  Please sticky this and lock it.
570  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: LolzSecurity(?) takes over mtgox IRC channel #mtgox and announces on: June 23, 2011, 12:58:17 AM
I think it's awesome that the people responsible for millions of dollars in transactions, and handling encryption keys, can't seem to figure out how IRC works.

Thank you Lulz, for not only making this an entertaining post, but for also letting me know people still go on IRC.  Haven't been on since about 1997 or so myself, back in the America Online free trial CD days.
571  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: my linux box was hacked today and almost 400 BTC were stolen! on: June 23, 2011, 12:56:39 AM
I'll pay 2.5 BTC for a really awesome blowjob.  Assuming that's the going rate, you'd need to give out 160.  If you gave out 20 per day, you could have your money back in 8 short days!
572  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Mining on: June 22, 2011, 03:10:21 AM
Change of pace... discussion wise

So since the last difficulty increase I went from 1.1~1.2 BTC/day to about 0.85~1.0 BTC/day with my rig... not too bad honestly.
573  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Putting Bitcoin on forex on: June 22, 2011, 12:44:39 AM
Putting foreskins on bitcoin, that is where the real action is at.
574  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Mt.Gox and void trades: Force Majeure on: June 22, 2011, 12:41:35 AM
As others have said, Mt. Gox appears to be in serious need of PR and a spokesman. I'd add to that list real legal counsel and a few good nights sleep.

I'm sure this will fall on deaf ears, but Mark you're grinding your business away in your attempts to save it. You'd be much better off slowing down and dealing with this incident slowly and methodically instead of rushing to get back up and arguing with your customers on a message board.

Get a good night's sleep. Then spend some money. Hire a lawyer, a spokesman and an app sec consultant. Slow down and listen to what they say.

The first rule of being stuck in a hole is to stop digging.

Hmm...

Fatal error: Uncaught exception 'Exception' with message 'Too many connections' in /www/p/pl/platform-stable.dns.st/includes/DB/MySQL.class.php:26 Stack trace: #0 /www/p/pl/platform-stable.dns.st/includes/DB/MySQL.class.php(73): DB\MySQL->__construct(Array) #1 /www/p/pl/platform-stable.dns.st/includes/DB.class.php(24): DB\MySQL::getInstance() #2 /www/p/pl/platform-stable.dns.st/includes/db_structure.php(3): DB::getInstance() #3 /www/p/pl/platform-stable.dns.st/includes/init.php(48): require_once('/www/p/pl/platf...') #4 /www/p/pl/platform-stable.dns.st/www/_handlepage.php(3): require_once('/www/p/pl/platf...') #5 {main} thrown in /www/p/pl/platform-stable.dns.st/includes/DB/MySQL.class.php on line 26

That's rather a lot of information about your internal file structure to be giving away.  Recommend switching verbose error reporting off.

I really can't believe that someone as allegedly smart as the team behind Mt. Gox continues to ACTIVELY REFUSE to act with any intelligence.  They either kept the same douchebag programmer that got them hacked in the first place, or hired a whole new douche nozzle to replace the douchebag.

576  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: all my coins gone today, sucks on: June 22, 2011, 12:27:54 AM
MtGox sent out emails to everyone about the password...

I didn't receive an email and I can see from the released CSV of accounts that my email is correct.

Anyone who thinks that EVERYONE in the world has the patience and tollerence to monitor these forums on a daily basis, with all the bull shit and meaningless crap and know-it-all views of idiots, is pretty foolish in my opinion.  For every 30 minutes I spend reading posts in this forum, 1 minute is worth while and the other 29 minutes I feel like looking for a tall bridge.

I think it is quite concievable that there are many out there who know of bitcoin, have used bitcoin, but still haven't heard any word of the recent events spanning the past few days.

Tell you what, you can give me $100 grand, and I'll read the forums, own a television, and check my email once every few days for you.

Otherwise, seriously, quit crying... If you didn't care enough about your money to keep an eye on 100k$, then you don't need it.  I check my bank account balance every day, like it's suddenly going to have more than a few hundred bucks to rub together Smiley

Hopefully if you're married, etc. your wife doesn't let you handle anything important, especially issues of money.  You'd have to be on another friggin planet to miss all the different ways you would have been notified.

unemployed, part of free speech means you get to choose where to speak, meaning, somewhere else if you wish Smiley

More importantly:

http://www.golflink.com/list_1703_play-as-lies-golf-rule.html

In the United States Golf Association's "Rules of Golf," Rule No. 13 is referred to as "Ball Played As It Lies." This rule prohibits improving the lie, the area intended for making a swing, the line of play or the area in which the ball is to be dropped or placed. In general, a golf ball should be played where it lands without any change to the overall situation. Besides the exceptions built into the rule, relief also may be granted by officials on a case-by-case basis.

Improving the Situation
The Rules of Golf forbid improving the situation in which a golf ball has come to rest. This includes "moving, bending or breaking anything growing or fixed," moving or pressing down the surface on which the ball lies, making or removing "irregularities" on the playing surface, or moving any form of water (including dew or frost).

Exception: Stance
If your ball lands such that you are not able to stand on playable ground--such as if your stance would be on a cart path or sprinkler head--you may move your ball one club length from the spot where it lies, but not closer to the hole.

Exception: Backswing
If you inadvertently move your ball while making your stroke or on your backswing, this is not considered improving your lie. The exception reads: "in making a stroke or the backward movement of (the) club for a stroke," as long as the stroke is made.

Exception: On the Tee
On the tee box--when beginning a hole--a player may improve the ground on which the ball is teed. For example, you may place the ball on a tee anywhere on the tee box and you may remove weeds, press down the grass around the tee or wipe away loose impediments. In addition, if the ball falls off the tee at or before address, you may re-tee without penalty.

Exception: On the Green
On the putting green, you may mark your ball and replace it at the spot where it landed. You may also repair the green in the line of your putt or remove any sand, dirt or other loose impediment.

Hazards
If your ball lands in a hazard, and you touch the ground or water while trying to prevent a fall or while removing an obstruction, there is no penalty as long as you do not change the lie of the ball. In addition, after taking a stroke in a hazard, a player may "smooth the sand or soil in the hazard" even if the ball is still in the hazard, as long as the lie of the ball is not improved.

3) Legal troubles?

Even if dismissed, lawsuits count as "legal troubles".  I personally wasn't affected (fortunately).

Although I have to admit, I am really unsure how you could roll back all the trades or have nothing be stolen... did NOBODY withdraw ANY of the BTC they bought during that time?

Some people did, we'll leave those as negative balance and count it as loss if not solved.

As for lawsuits we got threats so far, nothing yet.

Makes sense.  I fall into that third camp of opinion on this whole thing of "Wow, there is enough 'suck' to go around for everyone".

Can't imagine you're getting much sleep right about now.  Good luck.
