from someone in batch #16:

"The kid's grandmother bought one of the Erupters, so it might be safe to say we are your oldest and youngest customers."

Grin  this just warms my heart and makes me smile, bitcoin is multi-generational.

I think I want in on group 17, but there are some crazy rumors about price flying around. Canary, please get us da inside dope on dis foo kink she hat.
danks
People are confusing promo pricing with regular price.
You saw "news" that price is .175... This is nothing but .10 promo to those who are eligible plus .075 shipping...
Mr Arklan's post was the catalyst/source of the purported news of "overall" price reduction.. I believe the blogger used Arklan's post as his source of info and not friedcat/ASICMiner directly.  Friedcat did not confirm .175 reseller price to me.
This ".175 news" was misinterpreted/confusing further because so far you've seen that certain buyers at .99 were eligible for .10 promo... However, arklan was never a seller at .99... He ran the very first group buy at the 1.99 prices.
So I have no idea if arklan knows this distinction 100%.  If he does that could imply that perhaps he contacted friedcat and friedcat decided to extend promo to the very first group.  However, I can not speak for arklan or friedcat on this SPECIFIC point.
Arklan is free to clarify for all.  As I never got a response from him on this question.

Do not discount competitors doing hit jobs on ASICMiner because at recent prices they have pulled the rug from under certain ASIC chip manufacturers...
If they could put doubt, confusion in your mind, thus making you wait on purchasing more ASICMiner's products, they think they would get a better window of time to get higher profit margin on their products.  This is just a thought that has crossed my mind. I do not have concrete proof of this however.
2385  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner Rumors on: August 04, 2013, 04:26:36 PM
Hi everyone!

GOOD NEWS.

Friedcat meant that he can only guarantee up to 30% of the total number of Block Erupter USB ordered by my group buy:

347 * 0.3  = 104.1

So I can only order up to 104 units.

But this only apply up to 10th August. So after that Friedcat told me that I could order up to 100% of the total number of Block Erupter USB ordered previously.

So It looks like this will be 1 for 1 of the 1 btc price   Grin

Its all clear as mud..  Shocked
My understanding is same: 30% of the sticks sold by a reseller at .99 are to be sold at .10 to the latest buyers.. This is designed to help with or reduce the negativity a buyer experienced when price dropped right after they bought at .99 level.

And it is 1:1 and obviously inventory is allocated to the latest buyers in reverse order until promo units are gone.

Until I have this promo inventory received, I don't know who and when.  So if you PM me questions related to when are you getting it? Or am I going to make it in the promo pool? I really don't know so its not possible to give you a concrete answer, other then point you to this post

I think I'm gonna give up on this one...  unless a developer wants to investigate, I think all of trouble shooting has been exhausted... bummer.

Canary does it right, superior customer service in an industry that apparently can barely spell the phrase.

I won't buy USB miners from anyone else.

2394  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB Bitcoin Miner Price Drops 80% to 0.175 BTC on: August 02, 2013, 04:46:06 PM
Well put reactor..  Exactly my feelings..  I wonder if some day we look back on all this and end up seeing what a BIG freaking Rip off it really was for most of us..   Embarrassed
As a group who has invested in BTC we want to see it succeed, but honestly I can't see how new people are getting on board every day due to the general clusterfuck nature of things these days.
excuse me, but the creators of state of things as they are purported by the bolded text are not friedcat or well established resellers... anyone can start the rumor mill here and I supose anyone can get baited by one and start writing uncontrollably and with a hot head...

it's like watching piranhas feeding on a plastic cow (it's an American expression my Indian friends, no offense is meant! please substitute with an animal of your choice that could wander into the Amazon river)...

2396  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB Bitcoin Miner Price Drops 80% to 0.175 BTC on: August 02, 2013, 02:48:11 PM
Everything posted on the Internet, especially not by friedcat, must be true!!
2397  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: ASICMiner USB Bitcoin Miner Price Drops 80% to 0.175 BTC on: August 02, 2013, 02:44:47 PM
Will there be a group buy on this???  If so I would like get in on some..
The headline of your post is incorrect.  There has not been a new price change.
You are confusing the issue with Arklan's posts on his very first group buy of USB Block Eruptor miners.
2398  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: PCI-E to USB 3.0 Port & 10-Port USB Hub Group Buy (gauging for interest) on: August 02, 2013, 05:36:12 AM
I've had mixed results with Juiced... They're definitely good for 9 ports filled with erupters.  The 10th is finicky... I'm actually going to have one I bought for testing exchanged to see if its the hub itself..
2399  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [OPEN] #16 ASICMiner Erupter USB - .41 to .55 btc (CE + RoHS news) 1000+ on: August 02, 2013, 05:20:41 AM
orders will be rolled into #17, after everything is shipped tomorrow, I will know if anything is left over. otherwise, #17 is arriving next week. please don't ask what day... as soon as I know what day, I will post the info.

After #17 I too may be out of inventory till friedcat ships again.
