Here are the stats on the 49 port HUB (pic above) running for 18+ hrs so far:

It's interesting that all your erupters show up as the old Emerald (BEE) erupters.  All of mine show up as BES (Block Erupter Sapphire).

No idea if it even makes a difference...

Interesting observation... I am running this on bfgminer ver 3.1.3 and using "-S erupter:all" command... one of these 2 things is probably causing them to get the BEE label instead of BES.
1722  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: Which pool are best now ? on: October 29, 2013, 08:59:25 PM
any suggestion?
I like Eligius, no account and password to setup and issues with that to worry about... recall what occurred with 50btc recently as an example.

philipma1957 has found this PSU:

http://www.mcmelectronics.com/product/58-12860
use code   afc909     get a 15% discount  to under  14 bucks plus shipping!

It should be tested Wed/Thur to know for sure, but from the specs, it looks to be a great PSU to power one of these hubs (for the $).

DO NOT BUY ABOVE PSU. it does not work.
1725  Bitcoin / Group buys / Re: [IN STOCK] Second batch of ASICMiner 49 port hubs +50 units! 1.75 BTC on: October 29, 2013, 03:05:39 AM
This is a good & cheap option for power, 32amps at 5v, I bought one for my pc build a couple weeks ago from here:
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=151146545085&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT

Are these back in stock yet? I'd like to purchase one.
that's an awesome PSU for this purpose... (based on listed specs and price)

Time to add an ASICMiner Block Eruper 49 port USB 2.0 hub to the list  Grin

Next add some some USB miners:

yep, 40 Amp. you can pick it up an auto store, Frys etc...
however, one should have been included with your hub, maybe it's somewhere in the box?

So I'm considering buying, could you point me at a power supply online somewhere that would be compatible? If the power supply has two 6 pin connectors could it power two of the 49 port hubs at max capacity? hoping you guys would know.
See my post above please: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303640.msg3423344#msg3423344
I got it at a local Frys (they are on ebay as well)

and some pics are here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303640.msg3428585#msg3428585

I've got all 49 hashing using that PSU I found at Frys...

I am not sure this is the best place for this discussion, but it is here so what the heck.

Found that this:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371004 is available at a local Frys for under $50.  I picked one up to test with the hub Monday.

ATX 5V at 30 Amps should have no issues powering up the 49 port hub.  Grin

Any idea what gauge the wires are? I have a 5v30a ps but the AWGis 21.. im being told too thin of  a wire =/
I doubt that is correct.  21 AWG according to the table I just looked at will handle 49 amps, but not sure at which voltage...
AWG is used for solid wires, chances are good that the multitude of wires coming out of that PSU over to the ATX connector is NOT solid but stranded, this the AWG measure isn't applicable...
Maybe there are some electricians here who can chime in...
ATX power supplies will typically use 16 or 18 AWG wire.  Better ones use 16AWG.  It is always stranded.  I believe the ATX spec calls for 16.  I am not sure what table you are looking at but 21 AWG can't handle 49 amps.  More like 5 or 6.  You can ignore the "free air" column if there is one and look at the "enclosed" or "bundle" column.  16 AWG is good for 10 or 12 amps.  The insulation is what determines the maximum voltage, not the wire size.  The wire on a random ATX power supply I just looked at is rated at 300v.

I hope these hubs have an internal DC-DC converter and don't use the 5V rail exclusively.  This is unlikely due to cost constraints.
I hear they don't which is mixed blessing.  The good news is it lets you push as many amps as the connector / traces will carry by providing a bigger power supply.  The better news is it doesn't limit the power consumption the capacity of the DC-DC converter.

The bad news is the ATX connector limits the current to 8 amps per pin with 16 AWG wire ( http://www.molex.com/pdm_docs/ps/PS-45750-001.pdf ) and there are only 5 pins for the 5v rail making the total you can reasonably expect before you risk melting the connector 40 amps.  Google "tyan tiger mp melted connector" if you want to read stories about what happens if you push too much.  http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/179/p10101811pf.jpg/ for those who just want the picture.

The harsh reality is there are few modern ATX power supplies with more than 20 amps on the 5V rail and precious few with 30 or more.  There are a few like the antec basiq linked above but you have to check the specifications very carefully.
thanks for the info!!! much appreciated

The hubs have arrived.  ready to ship out.  They are approximately 10x6 inches in size.  definitely made so that you could stack them and create very interesting "rigs", but to stack them you'll need to visit a local RadioShack etc... to get necessary parts.

one order of 50 USBs + a Hub fits into a Medium Flat Rate box.  Or it fits a Region B box if that is cheaper for you (weight: about 4 pounds).

for those with multiple batches of 50, I'd have to work with you on the label requirements, so please PM me (ofcourse if you don't want to bother, you can just email a medium box label for each block of 50 USBs + hub).

Start with this:

Next add some USB miners:

I used this PSU which I picked up at a local Frys under $50: ( 30A on 5V ATX)

Connected and all 49 powered up! :

And we're hashing:

just two questions before i submit payment,

1. how would i calculate the shipping for the 100 usb plus 2 hubs?
2. are you selling the hubs separately?

i wanted to add 2 extra hubs to my order. bring it to a total of 100 usb plus 4 hubs
1. I will post info on Monday as far as which label is required for a quantity of 50/100/150 etc + hubs.
2. Not at this time. Want to give everyone a chance to get a hub with an order of 50 USBs.

If you send payment, drop me an email, I will respond Monday with the exact label I would need from you.
Thanks!

Well I had plans to buy about 500+ usb and the USB hubs to go with them but it seems that with this whole 50btc.com i have no funds at all  this sucks like hell
What happened with 50btc.com? Sorry, missed the news..

I have thermaltake smart 850, single rail:
Output Specification

AC INPUT Input Voltage: 100V-240V
 Input Current: 12A
 Frequency: 47Hz-63Hz
DC OUTPUT +3.3V +5V +12V -12V +5VSB
Max Output Current 25A 25A 70A 0.8A 3.0A
Max Output Power 130W 840W 9.6W 15W
Continuous Power 850W

better or worse? I am thinking that the goal is lowest wattage with highest amperage? forgive my stupidity, not an electrician, slept through shop and physics classes and way too many years ago anyways

I assume the +5v 130W is what philipma1957 refers to  saying ' most are 125W '

yeah  the thermaltake smart 850 has 2 ratings for the secondaries 5 volts at 25 amps  and 130 watts.

only one of those are correct.  since they represent different values.  5 at 25 amps = 125 watts   and that does not = 130 watts.

 newer PSU's  are 12 volt only   and then 2 dc to dc converter transistor/chips   one from 12 v to 3.3 v  and one from 12 v to 5 v.

the dc converter is more often then not rated at 25 amps.

safe 24/7/365  is 80%  or about 40 sticks.
