1641  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / developer searched on: March 06, 2014, 01:18:40 PM
We are searching for someone to help on a simple but nice nxt fork.
It's our goal to make a secure, stable currency with only PoS.
There is a new distribution idea, but we can't announce it yet, because a high replication risk would maybe destroy our proposal.

We can't tell the developer about the idea neither, but you will of course be one of the early adaptors as everyone directly after announcement.
You will be part of the foundation company and we also will pay some BTC eventually, if needed.
Just PM me, if you are interested.

ok, seems interesting. I can build a pool.
naming suggestion: ComUnIty - CUI (or XCU for X(extern currency prefix) ComUnity)

edit:
looks like COM is also not taken yet?

ok, as this coin is coming from benefit stamps: is the marketing looking out for working with that?

There will maybe a few shops out there, that not yet want to let customers pay directly with cryptocurrencies, but would maybe like the idea to give the customers a few ebt (as a percentage) for buying their stuff (like stamps in the real shops).
so we could offer a addon for online shops, that does that. The shop as a reward gets linked by ebt pages...

We could of course also offer real shops this concept.

tried the windows wallet meanwhile.
I found no configuration for PoS minting. what do I have to do? Is it automatically on?

1653  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XEM] - New Altcoin Idea - Proof of Uptime (PoU) on: February 27, 2014, 05:34:11 PM
here my new sugestion:
Every miner has to be registered on some institution, where they Check for the passport.
The miner Gets a Mining Key.
This is only for "Mining". Normal wallets doesn't need that registration.

The problem is unlike quark, where a botnet or cloud miner user is limited by the speed of the infected computers; In your scenario the botnet user is on the same level as the legitimate user (i.e. same hashing power).

Botnets are huge. Some are in the millions of computers. This proof of concept is fatally flawed. There has to be a dilligence factor to weed out malicious users or no one will support this. Memorycoin and vertcoin do this by increasing the memory requirements to mine. Infected computers are usually older with lower resources so they are inefficient if not useless for mining.

ok i will think about it and maybe add some improvements ;-)

you will have always the same ip
Why?
IP6 addresses You can get usually for close to nothing.

thats right, the concept is not yet ipv6 resistent.
not sure, but i think it should be possible, to locate them, if they are too near together
1656  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XEM] - New Altcoin Idea - Proof of Uptime (PoU) on: February 27, 2014, 04:45:58 PM
I will just make 1000 single core server just for this ? Doesn't works man.
you will have always the same ip

Not if they spin up multiple VPS machines.  Can easily & quickly be done...

so botnet will control PoU, right?
no, because they have to be up for a long time in order to win

How is a botnet or a VPS in any way prevented from remaining active / up?

vps and especially ips cost a lot of money, and do you really think 1000 miners are much?
how is a cpu mining like quark prevented from botnet?

Interesting, but it seems this is just a theory you, no practice! Smiley

yes this is a proof of concept
1658  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XEM] - New Altcoin Idea - Proof of Uptime (PoU) on: February 27, 2014, 04:27:41 PM
sounds a little similar to timekoin http://timekoin.org/

i didn't see it yet, you are right. But as I look on it, these things are unacceptable:
No hard limit on currency creation. There is no cap of the maximum amount of currency that will ever be created.
All Timekoins are whole numbers. No Decimal point currency is used to avoid rounding and accuracy errors.

@refer_2_me: why should you use tor for mining?

@zwjin45n: what are you expecting? i am afraid, that there is nothing much newer any more to discover
