1161  Other / CPU/GPU Bitcoin mining hardware / Re: GUI mining - Phoenix 1.5 and new, faster poclbm on: August 07, 2011, 07:31:03 PM
Do you know when the new version is coming out? and are there any more optimisaions for the app planned?

I have a suggestion for the dev.try to have your own website, that way it's a one stop shop for all the latest versions as well as change log, regressions (if any like bugs),optimisations,e.t.c.

have a website for hte app, saves ppl like me a lot of time searching through the cluttered forum thread about latest versions of the app.

I'd also like to see more optimisations for the Radeon HD69xx series cards as well as for all other cards used for BTC mining. If it takes a substantial rewrite of the whole app, then the optimisations (I expect) can be significant and should be pushed as far as they can go in s/w (as overclocking and shader unlocking can only go so far without an unstable system)

Thank you

appears to be a trojan issue with your app.if this is a false positive then can sum1 verify this.If it is unwittingly infected (like things are sometimes),can u please upload a 'clean version' for testing purposes

False positive.
If you want be sure that the file is original, that is MD5SUM of current .exe:
d44eae9dbb6b7d9f6b289333dfde1395 *bitcoin-miner.exe

Well that clears up hte trojan false positive.I now need help in getting this app to work. How should it be run?via GUIMiner?or by directly launching it (by clicking on it's exe with admin rights cus that's wot I did n still no luck)

1163  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: Norton Internet Security's false positive. Tnx dmn trojan programers! on: August 07, 2011, 05:56:40 PM
Comodo firewall on my system is also reporting this as well (huh I thought a firewall is just a firewall but it behaves like AV as well)

ufasoft.exe.It loads a cmd prompt then quickly closes without doing nything and then Comodo reports that it has a trojan.
1164  Bitcoin / Mining software (miners) / Re: DSP miner? on: August 07, 2011, 05:36:32 PM
link me to the app for DSP miner as I want to use this to complement CPU and GPU mining combined on my 2 machines (squeeze out even more hashes from my systems without spending too much as I've already upgraded GPU on my PC)

1165  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 3% faster mining with phoenix+phatk for everyone on: August 07, 2011, 05:14:31 PM
Hi guys.
On my 6950 this patch DECREASES performance about ~10MH/s. So if you have 69xx be careful and check your performance.

I used to have this issue,it turns out you need to apply this change to the kernel.cl file in phatk, poclbm folders (both which u find in kernels folder) and apply this chaneg to this file BitcoinMiner.cl in the GUIminer root folder as well, then you'll be boosted as well.

Hope this helps :-)
1166  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 3% faster mining with phoenix+phatk for everyone on: August 07, 2011, 05:11:24 PM
This is gr8.

I got a boost as well whilst saving energy on my Pc by 11Watts as well from GPU side of things

My card Radeon Hd6950 is clocked 895MHz and 947MHz (due to stability issues the clocks are here for mem)
This has been boosted from ~394 to ~398MHash/s on the card.

This is what happens when we improve on programming code (you save system resources, use less energy and increase performance as well.Every1 wins :-))

When I launch this I have 2 issues;
1.it loads cmd as normal but then quickly disappears (and closes for no apparant reason)
2.I get a msg saying trojan detected here:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Plz help me to get this up and running as I wish to complement my GPU minign with CPU mining.I'd also like to know why there appears to be a trojan issue with your app.if this is a false positive then can sum1 verify this.If it is unwittingly infected (like things are sometimes),can u please upload a 'clean version' for testing purposes

Thank you.

Is this available as a click and install app for OSX? As I need something more optimised for CPU and GPU mining (RPC miner for CPU is pointless and inefficient, needs to be like Ufasoft but for OSX as well as a stand alone app for PC as Avast removed it from my PC when bundled with GUIMiner as it said there was a trojan with it.

Thanx
1169  Bitcoin / Project Development / plans for a film with BTC on: August 06, 2011, 05:25:55 PM
Hi every1,
I plan to make a film that will help either promote bitcoins directly or be part financed by them (which would boost bitcoins popularity as it would be famous with my film).

I'm still developing ideas for the film at this point so its not fully planned yet.I plan for the film to meet 5 pieces of criteria;
1.The film should be partly financed by Bitcoins (if possible for people to donate for the film production efforts)
2.The film should at least use bitcoins in someway (even if they play a very small part,in the film in the final copy, this would still make them famous in some way)
3.The film should at least promote bitcons a little (doesn't need to be much but if there's a large turnout at the screening online when or if its able to be made, then bitcoins will hopefully have more of a value and should be more stable to hold onto value)
4.The subject matter can be anything but it can't be rude as the film has to be suitable for everyone (maybe 12yrs and above as little kids probably won't understand/or use them anyway)
5.The film should have a hook to help promote the use of bitcoins (or equivalent currency if btc doesn't do well in the future)

I'll need suggestions (and constructive feedback if possible) for the film.

I'm doing an experiment which kinda relates to this in a way (people who have with spare mining capacity to donate or a hobbyist miner can apply.).The link is here:http://film2240.wordpress.com/2011/07/05/project-gold-river/.The password is test. It was passworded initially to help test a few things but now,I need some more people from here who can help me in this.if hte link doesn't work search for Project-Gold river then use the password.I hope this helps.

For those of you who wish to donate (to help the film efforts or just to show that you like the idea) here's my BTC address:1LiR6RBcbRG6owiEbMVEDCEGpccZRXjK99

1170  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: Lets build VPN on: August 06, 2011, 04:53:54 PM
I like this idea.At last a VPN service that lets me be totally anonymous without giving my:name, address, debit card details,DOB (to be allowed to use credit cards on some services).make sure that personally identifiable info is not a requirement.

if this service lets me use P2P/torrent and truly never logs my internet activity or sells this information on,then I'm in.

What kind of prices can I expect to pay on this service?monthly or yearly?
1171  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Best flags for GUIMiner with 6770 & 6950 ??? on: August 03, 2011, 11:25:42 AM
I need to know a few things 4 my Radeon Hd6950
1.How can i improve system stability when overclocking?
2.what r the best setting ppl have found for that card that gets the maximum possible hash power
3.What are the flags for best performance
4.What are the best clock speeds (core and mem clocks) that people have found for getting high hashrates (my card is unclocked and OC'd to 890mhz and 947mhz mem)?
5.If overvolting is necessary how can I go about this without damaging my card,or making my system unstable?

1172  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: help with Samsung 2TB HD204UI HDD on: July 28, 2011, 09:00:49 AM
Where u circled red,mine says:2011.06

I don't know if thats the manufacturing date or not?(Probably is)

My drive revision is A

Is my drive affected by the f/w bug or is it well past the date where drives were shipped with buggy f/w?

thanx fot the gr8 help :-)
1173  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / help with Samsung 2TB HD204UI HDD on: July 27, 2011, 12:59:31 PM
Hi,
I know this may not be the best place to ask for help with a HDD but I didn't know where else to turn.

My question is,how do you find out the manufacturing date on those drives?because I know that if its Dec 2010 or later no f/w update is needed (to fix data loss bug) but if nov 2010 or earlier F/W update is needed.

I just got it today.

How can I find this on the HDD label (on the disk itself,if possible) or which tools can I use to find this out?

Thank you
1174  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: HElp.issue with official btc client on: July 24, 2011, 11:24:54 AM
I use block explorer and this is what I find:http://blockexplorer.com/tx/762c6b5f34a3ac3f33d05639f274cd4437b11c8c9e1d6e376936311db77d848a

the 1.35 payment to the address beginning with 18 is mine.
I found that 1 file is responsible for this blkindex.dat.I know this because when I deleted this,it recreated the blocks rather quickly. When I out in the old version (after backing up the new one of course),the problem returns so it is that file in particular.

If anyone else in the future has this problem, try the blkindex.dat file first before deleting everything else.

Anyways problem solved but it looks like it'll take ages for me to get my payment

Thanx :-)

Hi,
I'm interested in knowing more about your services. What payment options can you take?Moneybookers,Bank transfer,e.t.c.
Is it possible to only use your service for 1 month and that's it?
Is there a trial I can use to help judge the service before buying?

Here are my needs:
1.Low cost (discount ought to be in order as well as I'm a first time buyer)
2.Can only use for 1 month max
3.Need a trial to evaluate service to see how well this works with my pool

Thank you

Thanx 4 the gr8 reply gnaget.Saved me a lot of worry.and yes I find that trolls are really annoying. They spread crap (info) everywhere and they confuse people (like me as well). Then they wonder why we get so pissed off with them.(Serves them right too)
1178  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Illegal content in the blockchain on: July 21, 2011, 07:43:38 PM
Wait a minute man.How can you be so damn sure that blockchains can hold 'illegal' content that can throw me in jail?I don't understand much about cryptography or code cracking but what ind of 'illegal' data are we talking about here. The odd stray bits? or something bigger than that?

I'd love to know how UK law handles this as Im based in UK.If anyone knows please tell me.

I've got these questions for you:
1.how do you find or 'sniff' the 'illegal' data from a block chain?
2.How can running a BTC client (or miner) cause legal issues for me?
3.Is this a big problem?or something I can ignore (for a bit)?
4.What legal issues can this cause me? and can they be serious?
5.How can law enforcement and the like reconstruct the file, trace it back to you and throw u in da slammer?

Thanks
1179  Economy / Services / Re: Mining Contracts? What's good and bad about them? on: July 21, 2011, 07:34:30 PM
You can find them here, as far as I know how mining contracts work is you are essentially giving out a loan for bitcoins in the future and due to the price volatility and changes in difficulty it ends up being a gamble most of the time unless you can find a really cheap contract. 150$ really isn't much money but you can always play the market and day trade. Another thought is you could find a cheap ps3 off ebay like one with a broken blu-ray drive and use that to mine. I think it does about 80 mh/s.

I read that the PS3 can only do 26MHash/s at best on the mining hardware comparison site.Which is slower than my old Radeon HD4670 OC'd to the max (my current gpu is radeon HD 6950 OC'd and shade unlocked and gives me 400MHash/s)
1180  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: An estimate of fpga performance on: July 21, 2011, 03:21:59 PM
I'm very interested in high performance, low cost and ultra low energy hardware for mining.

The FPGA already meets my needs for low power use and high performance, now all I need is it to be low cost and I can easily get my hands on one.Hope its in UK soon.

The setup has to be easy as well.

If someone can create something that can rival my Radeon HD 6950 (400MHash/s),then I can finally put those noisy GPU and CPU things to rest.

Een if it doesn't rival my card,I can use several FPGAs together to get that performance anyways.

I worked out its less than 13Watts with 6 units (1 each produces 70MHash/s) VS 210Watts for my card.
