1321  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Exchange bitcoin(me) for paypal(you) on: December 20, 2013, 02:11:22 PM
While most of the users here are not scammers, the ones who answer your post with offers will be.  Use a established escrow here and do not use Paypal period.

Not all people who wish to pay with Paypal will be out to scam. I would love to buy BTC with Paypal due to the ease and speed it provides. Being able to pay and receive the coin in less than an hour is very appealing, no other means of payment can offer this speed. I only steer clear due to the opinions of most of the users on this forum.

I bought my coins off ebay with paypal, but it is far too easy to get scammed on here with it. Buyers are usually safe as they can get their money back easily if anything goes wrong, but it's this that leads sellers to stay away.
1322  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: where can I get some free alt-coins? on: December 20, 2013, 01:47:50 PM

any suggestions?

People give them away in promotions here all the time. When you get out of newbie jail just head on over to Alt currencies, or check out the services section.
1323  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info has a big announcement, what would it be ? on: December 20, 2013, 01:36:18 PM
I'm completely moving to armory if they add alts

Why aren't you on Armory already? It's great. I doubt they'll be adding alts.

True but still quite buggy

What bugs does it have? Is there a list of these online any where?
1324  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Blockchain.info has a big announcement, what would it be ? on: December 20, 2013, 01:18:05 PM
BTW, I just visited Blockchain.info, and the bottom half of the "stats" page with the worthless "miners' operating revenue/margin/BS" was missing .... although one can always hope for a Merry Christmas present from blockchain.info.

Its finally gone. Merry Christmas! But, no, that wasn't the announcement Smiley

I cant think of a good guess..... just please not Alts, I was fine with Litecoin but with the shitload of scam coins I am starting to reconsider the point of alts....

litecoin is far from those shitty altcoins , don't worry

True, but I still don't think has much behind it yet even though it is the second best coin.
1325  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *POLL* - Why are you here? on: December 20, 2013, 01:10:17 PM

for the Party ?

For the fun of it, but I don't think he was being that serious.
1326  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: *POLL* - Why are you here? on: December 20, 2013, 12:36:45 PM
Very nice, thx all for getting involved in this poll!  Cheesy

A trend is starting to emerge: technology enthusiasts and greedy people have the lead!

PS: no multiple choice option.. choose your side!

I refuse, I cannot choose one.

For the Sociology ? What the hell does it means ?

To study people and their behavior.
1327  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An idea I had while washing clothes. on: December 20, 2013, 12:25:41 PM
I don't think the current block size is ready to handle the transactions for all washer/dryers in the world. Probably a better idea to use BTC to reload your laundromat card balance.

We could create another crypto-currency with a sufficiently large block size optimized for compact storage and high volume?

Another altcoin, just what the world needs Wink

washingmachinecoin , who wants to start it with me ?

Tumblecoin. Soapcoin, not much you can do with this one I think lol

I've only been here a few days and all these alts are already annoying me.

For the pussy. Jokes. I am here for a few reasons, but I like how you get earn free coins from various postings. It's also probably the bet place to stay on top of Bitcoin-related news.
1330  Economy / Economics / Re: Winklevoss: Trying to pump before they dump? on: December 20, 2013, 11:46:59 AM
Why would some rich entrepreneurs like them not feel the same way about BTC that we do?

I'm sure they do, but I think people just don't trust them or are suspicious. They seem fairly sound to me.
1331  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An idea I had while washing clothes. on: December 20, 2013, 11:29:23 AM
are there even any prototypes  or working washing machines that accept bitcoin?

I doubt it. Maybe in the future though. I imagine them to look like giant rectangular ipads or something Cheesy.

I hope everything doesn't look like giant ipads in the future. Hopefully it'll look like some futuristic Minority Report world where everything has a QR code on. That'd be ok.
1332  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: The whole wave of Bitcoin lies on the fact that marijuana is illegal on: December 20, 2013, 11:21:11 AM
marijuana is illegal Huh

I dunno in what retarded part of the world you are living, but in most civilized countries, marijuana is perfectly legal.

And I can assure you, Bitcoin is pretty popular here in the Netherlands.

It's illegal in most countries in the world. And it's not even legal in Holland, just tolerated / not enforced.
1333  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: An idea I had while washing clothes. on: December 20, 2013, 11:10:13 AM
I was sitting at the Laundrette with some clothes to wash after I had to go to the service station to get enough $1 coins to operate the machines when I realised how much easier it would have been if the washing machines and dryers had qr codes on a screen attached that worked when the right amount of bitcoins were sent to the machines.

So much easier than carrying bulk change around and you could also install a bitcoin atm there to get some bitcoins from. Waiting for confirmations wouldn't even be a problem since you are stuck there for however long it takes to wash your clothes....

That day is coming faster than you think. End of 2015 bitcoin will be well spreaded that you will pay with your phone for whatever you want. I am really looking forward to it

Me too, but I think it'll be longer than 2015 before we have full mainstream adoption, but I hope you're right. I hope some big companies get onboard the Bitcoin train in 2014.

I think this would be an expensive feature to implement, but maybe in the future.

Expensive technology today is dirt cheap tomorrow (no washing pun intended).

Could work for other "slot machine" businesses but like the OP said, particularly suited to laundrettes because you have to wait an hour anyway. Perfect time for bitcoin Smiley

True, but I can't see these little launderettes with ancient washing machines subscribing to this. Maybe newer trendier ones (if they even have them?).

Maybe he is dead. Maybe we'll never know.
1337  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Whats your favourite Cryptocurrency? on: December 20, 2013, 09:51:51 AM
Bitcoin is the king obviously. But Litecoin is second to the throne.

1339  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is now the best time for new people to invest? on: December 19, 2013, 09:16:22 PM
Now is a great time to invest. You snooze and you lose. Can't see it going any lower this year. I reckon it'll slowly creep back up to around 1k in Jan.
1340  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is NOT a investment on: December 19, 2013, 09:01:53 PM
I've put money in to it, so I'm calling it an investment. I could lose money, but I've still invested it in BTC.
