Apparently all my PC's went on vacation as well.  Turns out there is corruption on the hard drive and the server running the pool wont boot.  I am going to have to attempt to recover the data, it seems only the boot record became corrupted so I should be able to get access to the MPOS db, but the quickest approach might be to rebuild the server.... sigh.

not a big deal, just not what I was looking forward to doing.

If you were mining on the pool in between the time I sent out everyone's remaining balance and when it went kaput, let me know about how many coins you should have.  I just want to get a rough idea of what people had on there, if you had lots I will send you some now and then the remainder once we are back in business.

once again sorry for all the issues of late, will do what I can to get us going ASAP.

too bad, yes, but don't count us out.  With the Lemons is working on revamping the wallet, he is the wallet developer and is sticking with Hempcoin.  Tim hasn't been on for ages, but he is not a vital part of the community so its not a major issue.  What does everyone think about passing the Hempcoin stick onto With the Lemons ?

We will try to get in contact with Tim again to verify his intentions, but after this amount time our hopes are not high for him.

I will have to check on things once miners come back to verify all is running smoothly.

OK database is fixed... well actually it was never broken.  It was just a result of me making too many very obscure PWs on the server, I was entering the wrong one. :-)  apparently I need more sleep.

backend is back up and running, I am now just making sure the front end is running smoothly, but you can point your miners at the pool again.

I think it was shortly after the above post where the sell wall went from 14 btc up to 32 btc.  They probably started to feel the pressure and realized there was a chance the wall could get eaten up, so they needed to 'up the anty' so to speak to further diminish that possibility

Really wish my pockets were that deep, would love to teach them a lesson and buy them all up.

My apologies for not taking much care of the pool recently.  i don't always seem to get a notification when it has issues.

stratum has always been up, but I understand its a turn off when the pool says " we are experiencing issues in the backend, blah blah blah".

I will make sure to keep to a closer eye on it going forward and maybe some of the regulars will come back.

you don't have my 25k on that list.  I think I would rather donate my portion to the dev team for all their hard work to date.  Although I like your idea, I don't hold much btc, so unfortunately my donation would have to remain in NAV.

price is low indeed, great time to join the community or increase your stash.

Once the new wallet is released the price should adjust accordingly I would think.  I don't think we will be seeing the 600 sat range for a while soon, but x2/x3/x5 is pretty easy from where we are now. 

Let's not allow our fear to get the best of us, Lemons is working hard on the wallet and we as a community need to help out where we can.  To start off with, lets keep our community strong and united, we are what will keep Hempcoin going into the future, lets not lose our sights because things are not rolling out as well as we were expecting.  We will obviously have different views on the way forward, but lets keep it civilized and productive.

We should start brainstorming on what the next step is for Hempcoin after the new wallet release.

This is normal, I don't fully understand the reasoning behind it, but it has something to do with having nodes configured in your .conf file (or directly in the wallet code is also possible I think).

If you do a 'listaddressgroupings' in the console window, you will see all addresses associated to your wallet.  You should see that address ending in 'Tmur' in this list.

I also agree that neoscrypt is a good move.  My guess is that most people mining Hempcoin right now are renting anyways.

As for the reward schedule, I like the idea of fartbags proposal:

I agree this will take away from mining incentives for the short term, but it is a much better long term solution in my opinion.  To help the short term mining, maybe if we gradually lowered the reward over the next 3-6 months from current 125 down to 10 coins this would still leave some time for early adopters to grab come coins. 

1 month @ 75, 1 month @ 50, 1 month at 25, then onto 10 coins for 5 years and so on...

The coin amounts fartbags mentoined above are assuming all blocks are POW.... which will not be the case.  so we can take a quess and cut the coin amounts in half.

Heres' a schedule based on 50/50 POW/POS split block generation. ie 720 POW blocks a day.

1 month @ 75 coins = 1,620,000
+
1 month @ 50 coins = 1,080,000
+
1 month @ 25 coins = 540,000
+
5 years @ 10 coins = 13,140,000
+
10 years @ 5 coins = 13,140,000
+
20 years @ 2.5 conis = 13,140,000

42,660,000 POW coins over the next 35 years and 3 months.

Add this to the current supply of 151,190,000, we will have 193,850,000 coins.

This would then leave about 213 years of 1 coin reward blocks.  If we change the first 3 intervals to be 2 months each, 1 coin rewards would last 200 years....

Just brainstorming out loud here, but I like where we are going here.

And I completely forgot about the bonus blocks..... OOPS.
Factoring in the bonus blocks (mulitply by 1.68); 71,668,800 POW coins over the next 35 years and 3 months.  That leave about 103 years of 1 coin block rewards.

not sure what mini-forks you are referring too, but if it's the ones caused when a large wallet opens up after being offline for a long period of time, I believe there is a simple fix for it.

This scenario causes the large wallet to stake tonnes (sometimes hundreds upon hundreds) of blocks in a row at a much quicker rate when opened.  This causes a huge slow down on block creation once the large wallet has finished staking as the diff was increased vastly due to massive amount of network weight it added.  This scenario can be avoided by putting a cap on the maximum weight (max age?) that the coins can accumulated, thus limiting the change in network weight when a large bag holder opens there wallet.  I think in a scenario like this also opens the door for someone much smarter than myself to exploit the coin.  We obviously do not want this to happen.

I know Lemons is very well aware of all exploits and will not allow Hempcoin to be susceptible to any known flaws, rest assured.

I am dwelling beyond my understanding of the blockchain (so please tell me I am wrong if warranted), if the max coin age is capped it should not be capped too much so that actual interest earned is less than advertised/intended.  I know another coin that has a very low max coin age, but it seems to be lowering the interest earned since it is just about impossible for all my coin chunks to stake before hitting the max age.  It looks like once the coins hit the max age, they are no longer earning interest.

This brings up a question that has been on my mind, is it possible to limit the weight accumulated by a chunk of coins, but not limit the amount of interest they earn ?

And yet another thing on my mind; is a 45 day maturing period a good thing for Hempcoin ?  I understand the novelty behind choosing this period, but is it actually helpful for the coin ?

On another note, I can imagine some of you are getting frustrated as you are anxiously awaiting the release of a working POS wallet.

Lemons may not get stuff done as quickly as some would hope for, but I assure you he is working on it and the finished product will work as he intends it too.  He has a real job just like the rest of us and he doesn't get paid for the work he does on Hempcoin, so I am very appreciative for the time he does put towards Hempcoin.

I know it has already been said in the forum recently, but just wanted to re-iterate; It is very hard to give a timeline when you are developing code, the simplest problems can take days, or even weeks to figure out.  then you get a lightbulb moment and realize you defined something one line to early or misplaced a semi-colon, or any other of the countless rudimentary typos.  these are what I remember as the most frustrating problems when I was coding back in college.

I realize you are most likely just FUDing around, trying to pick up some cheap coins, however, I will throw in my two satoshis anyways...

Ill start off by saying that i am in no way a trading expert and only have a beginners ability to read/interpret the candlestick graphs etc....

You can't just look at the candles, they are only one part of analyzing the market, you need to look at the market as a whole.

Navajocoin is very young (as are pretty much all altcoins), there are currently numerous wallets out there that could drop the price SIGNIFICANTLY (big ass red candles) if they decided to sell.. even down to 0 for some of the biggest wallets.

For all you know those 3 red candles could be from some big Navajo holder that lost his day job and needed to pay some bills so his family could have a roof over their head for the next month, so sold off his coins.  I hope you don't decide your investments based off of what a single person decided to do, or even leave your investment strategy open to that possibility.

I believe the candle stick analysis best work on fully established markets that do not have any single entities that can fully manipulate the price.  for most altcoins out there, there is someone that can do this.

I do agree that the candlesticks are a helpful investment analysis tool, but they are only a piece of the puzzle and in the crypto world, they are an even smaller piece of the puzzle.

For altcoins, my largest investment factors are community support, and dev team involvement/competence.  All of which I can say personally that Navajo has in spades, that is why I bought a bunch a while back and still hold them today.

I thought it was only supposed to be like 7-9 hours of lost content.  My post on this thread from "January 21, 2015, 02:18:16 PM EDT" is still there.  i think that is about 7-8 hours before it went down.

They did mention to contact them if you are missing anything from that time-frame and they can take a search for it.
