Also, do you really think the entire Jaxx team was blindsided by the regularly scheduled hard fork and the the open-source, much anticipated RingCT implementation?

Quote from: Anthony Di Iorio
It was working. It was working with the protocol as it was working back then, and again, in the same way, that MyMonero was working and once we had it working I announced the first transactions. And that was all before the changes were made.

Maybe next time our top secret devs will think twice before they secretly develop features that nobody knew were coming and release the code at the very last second in a surprise hard fork!

I am not disagreeing that their public pronouncements don't reflect poorly on them, but to be fair, hasn't the ring CT hardfork completely borked mymonero for several weeks now? Or is it working again?

Should be working again now.

That's most likely a problem on ShapeShift's end. If you are exchanging XMR for BTC I'd advise to use XMR.to. Note that, if I recall correctly, Shapeshift has stated that they now recognize unconfirmed transactions too, but looking at your issue apparently they don't yet.

Regarding your other issue, see:

https://github.com/monero-project/monero/issues/1630
As for that other issue, it seems pretty serious.  Am I understanding git correctly that this issue has been found and fixed but not pushed out in a new release yet?  For the two txs of mine that were stuck last night when I posted this, it took HOURS to get confirmed into a block and the unconfirmed pool was up to around 75 txs, also for hours, until it eventually worked itself out.

A fix has been proposed here:

https://github.com/monero-project/monero/pull/1631

It has yet to be merged.

Hello

I have monero in my wallet on my pc and I try to send it to cryptopia but I can not get it I understand nothing
Can someone help me?

thank you in advance

Which wallet are you using?
845  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: January 25, 2017, 10:35:38 AM
I've been having this problem again trying to send XMR to ShapeShift.io and having the trade cancelled because the deposit doesn't get confirmed within 10 minutes.

ShapeShift is again not recognizing the unconfirmed deposit transaction (as it does for any other coin) and therefore keeps the 10 minute timer ticking.

Monero is also randomly (but frequently) not including my transactions in the next block, nor the block after that, etc ... for example this latest one has been in the unconfirmed transactions pool for 43 minutes and 19 blocks.

Anybody know what's going on?

Need some help with simplewallet here:

I'm having an ongoing issue where outgoing XMR transfers do not make it into the next block, and sometimes not for several blocks.  This wreaks havoc with ShapeShift because they cancel the transaction if your deposit if it's not confirmed in a block within 10 minutes.

If Monero blocks are not nearly full like Bitcoin and miner fees are automatic, what else could it be?

Example:

Code:
[wallet]: transfer xxx........
Money successfully sent, transaction <xxx........>
[wallet]: bc_height
1085653
[wallet]: bc_height
1085654
[wallet]: bc_height
1085655
[wallet]: bc_height
1085656
Height 1085656, transaction <xxx........>, spent xxx........

Why didn't that xfer get included in block 1085654 or 1085655?  Thanks for the help!

I don't know how to answer the question but I had a tx in block 1085656, I wasn't paying much attention but I was surprised it took a few blocks to get confirmed. My only guess is with the rapid increase in activity and hashrate over the past couple days there seems to be a lot of variance at the moment...two blocks found within seconds then 10 minutes between blocks: http://moneroblocks.info/

Notice the tx per block is higher than average: http://moneroblocks.info/stats

I'm sorry to hear that Shapeshift is not recognizing the payment as soon as it hits the tx pool. Use xmr.to. I have communicated with a Shapeshift dev on how to get the payment id from the tx pool but I guess they are too busy or something...

Has anyone been able to import their mymonero seed into their GUI? I keep getting an error saying that the electrum style seed is not validated. Can someone help.

Also, stop the FUD.

You can't import the seed directly. Please follow this guide:

https://monero.stackexchange.com/questions/3091/how-do-i-use-my-mymonero-wallet-via-the-monero-core-gui

For step 1 to 4 you can also follow this guide:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/4exiih/an_easy_to_understand_guide_on_how_to_restore/

Note that simplewallet was renamed to monero-wallet-cli.

I get my mined coins sent to MyMonero online wallet. However any deposits after the fork are unspendable for some reason.

I installed the GUI and imported the private keys but whenever its done syncing my balance is always 0.00

Which OS are you using?
848  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: January 19, 2017, 08:50:24 PM
type "seed" into that and hit send, and it should show your seed.

To add, please don't post a screenshot of the output.

I asked myself about "what if I forgot my password ?" so I created a new wallet with moneroX (the old client). No password created with the wallet, he just instant created it and opened it. So, I moved the new .keys and tried to open the new wallet i just created, with gui and cli but still the same issue, I need to put a password but I don't have it...
I feel like I need to contact Jojatekok, creator of this wallet, only him has the answer.

First of all, make a backup of everything Monero before continuing, logs, wallet files, everything you can find. If you haven't already.

I remember early on that the mnemonic seed was saved in the simplewallet log. Check if you still have those.

Which version of MoneroX are you using. From the thread, it had support for displaying the mnemonic seeds from v0.39 onwards.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=683365.msg10167266#msg10167266

See if you can still grab the latest stable version and install it. Then see if you can open your wallet and recover the mnemonic seed.

Hello, I'm using the version 0.22.0 :

(I have 8 connections after the initialing, what does it mean?)

I checked simplewallet log, I can't found any mnemonic seed. Looks like it was not yet implemented.
I downloaded the 0.44.0 version but it ask me for the passphrase...  Cry

Does the "Settings" or "Help" give you an option to obtain the spend key and view key?
850  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero - A secure, private, untraceable cryptocurrency on: January 19, 2017, 11:19:08 AM
Hello,

I need some help to recover my monero wallet. Last time I used it, it was... in 2014. I used the monero client developped by Jojatekok, as you know this client doesn't have any support since 2016. Cry
I still can open my wallet on this client, I can see my balance but the client can't connect to the network after the support was stopped.
So, I still have 3 files : wallet.bin - wallet.bin.address - wallet.bin.keys

I downloaded monero-wallet-gui and put the files in, I opened wallet.bin.key with this client (monero-wallet-gui) but the problem is... the client ask me for a password.  Lips sealed
I never used any password when I used my wallet on the old client and it never asked me to create one so i'm confused. I don't know what to do now... I am desperate to get back my +25 moneros. Cry

Do you have any ideas ?

Thank you!

What if you enter a blank password? Does it open the wallet?

The GUI should accept password less wallets.

Hi,

I'm new to cryptonote technology. I use a dual boot computer, so with some bitcoin type wallets I install the blockchain/wallet on an NTFS partition so I can share them between O/S.
With monero, this seems to cause a few issues. Firstly, the monero daemon on first start up throws up a warning which either seems windows or linux based, possibly due to the p2pstate.bin poolstate.bin files. Restarting in the same O/S and the issue disappears. Secondly, it would seem that the wallet files are incompatible, throwing up a memory allocation error while trying to open the wallet.
I've decided to use separate blockchain daemons on each O/S, but would like to find a way to share the wallet. Would it be possible to have one wallet files in windows, and set up a duplicate wallet file in linux using the following: https://getmonero.org/knowledge-base/user-guides/restore_account ?

For issue one, could you run the daemon with the following flag:

Code:
--log-level 2

On Linux this should be done from the terminal. Thus, cd to the relevant directory or open the terminal from the directory itself and then:

Code:
./monerod --log-level 2

On Windows you should launch from the command prompt (in the relevant directory)

Code:
monerod.exe --log-level 2

The blockchain (and the full bitmonero directory for that matter) should be compatible accross different operating systems.

For issue two, the wallet cache is incompatible, whereas the .keys file is compatible. Thus, you'd have to remove the wallet cache on either of your systems. Note that there are three wallet files, <wallet> (this is the wallet cache), <wallet>.keys, and <wallet>.address.txt (contains your public address). In addition, note that your wallet cache contains private tx keys and recipient addresses for outgoing transfers. Thus, it may be detrimental to remove it. It's generally advised to backup the old, incompatible cache and then remove it.

On Ubuntu 16.04, compiled from github release tag source with all packages except documentation and libgtest-dev (the latter causing compilation issues). release binaries installed in /usr/local/bin.

Code:
monerod --data-dir /windows/Blockchain/XMR --log-level 2

Similarly, for windows the ERROR lines relate to a msys64 path. The windows binaries are downloaded from the github release tag, installed in C:\Program Files\Monero. I might be able to capture this at a future date if needed.

I have the same question as this guy here: https://forum.getmonero.org/5/support/87060/using-monero-gui-wallet-beta-and-the-hardfork

Using Monero GUI Wallet (beta) - and the hardfork?
Hi Guys, I am using the beta Monero GUI wallet, made available late December. Will it work as-is after the hard-fork in a few days, or do I have to take any specific actions? thanks

Do any steps need to be taken for those of us using the GUI build from here: https://getmonero.org/2016/12/22/monero-core-gui-beta-released.html

Thanks

Are there already any block explorers updated that show the blocks after the hard fork?

These both show RingCT transactions correctly:

Hey, I'm newish to all this and wanted some advice from someone more knowledgable than me.

I installed the Monero GUI wallet and chose an external drive to store the blockchain (as I have a small HD on my laptop) ... I started to suck GBs from my local drive however and so I had to quit the app to stop it eating all my space completely.

But now I would like to know where the big file is and how I can delete it, does anyone know? I would really like to run a node (for the sake of Monero and for me) but unless I can't run it using an external drive, then this isn't going to work for me and I'll to continue to use myMonero.com

Thanks for your help.

Gavin

Which operating system are you using?

Forgive me for asking here, but I can't see any reference to this on other Monero threads or stack exchange for an issue I have.

The Mac OSX download for the GUI on Get Monero fails - tried three times and it only 'part' downloads.

Are there other links for getting it, or has anyone had the same problem?

You can try the Github link(s):

I'll check again about accessing original wallet because when I restart it doesnt pop up. It tells me to type in password for the new wallet. Is there a way to choose which wallet I want to access?

Enter your password for the new wallet. Subsequently, go to the "Settings" page and choose "Close wallet". This will bring you back to the wizard, where you can select your original wallet.

I cant access my original wallet that I deposited my 1 monero. How am I able to pick the original wallet?

Go to settings -> close wallet. It will bring you back to the wizard, where you can open your original wallet.

And when I did enter the seed, I had to sync the GUI from the beginning.

That's normal. It scans the blockchain looking for transactions that belong to your wallet.
