What's the point of using a platform like Coinbase if your privacy is sacrificed to the government? At best Coinbase services those who don't care about privacy or government oversight into their finances. Any sane individual would use other methods to exchange. The purpose of anonymous currencies is to keep finances anonymous.. http://motherboard.vice.com/read/irs-demands-identities-of-all-coinbase-traders-over-two-year-periodFluffypony has gained at least 50 pounds since his last profile picture. Maybe he needs to lose some weight and get back on track with what's important (the project) instead of bending the knee to suck armstrongs cock for a Coinbase XMR pair. ^Best true quote in crypto from a real developer and I can't agree more.. be it code, managing online wallets (thefts) or project direction - Fluffypony has no idea what he's doing. It's taken him three years to organize a basic QT GUI and the community is hyping that as the next best thing since the original Bitcoin QT.. The only thing that's actually worked out was his Oasis DNM scam but we all know that won't last forever. A DNM (oasis) pops up just long enough to add XMR and convince AB to get in on the pump and dump then goes offline to avoid legal ramifications.. Seems legit.. At some point you have to show commerce and user adoption instead of these hyped scam pumps. I use the word scam because anyone who falls for them has been mentally scammed into believing these prices are justified. XMR "devs" were quick to hype Polo when they gave XMR it's own market but didn't say anything when Polo started demanding user IDs to withdraw funds. It's plain as day to see they're here for the pump and not for the privacy initiative otherwise they would of voiced their privacy concerns to the community about Coinbase or Poloniex instead of breaking bread with them. But hey at least he's not FUDing other projects anymore.

The point is that Monero would be more accessible. Sure, Coinbase and the government would know you bought Monero. But nobody but you would know what you do with it after that. Also, just because Monero gives you the ability to transact privately doesn't mean every transaction has to be super secret hush hush. It's money. You can be as public or private with your money as you wish. If Amazon.com announced they were accepting Monero, no doubt some people would scream "oh no, that's not private!" So what? It's money.

Hey, I'm newish to all this and wanted some advice from someone more knowledgable than me.
I installed the Monero GUI wallet and chose an external drive to store the blockchain (as I have a small HD on my laptop) ... I started to suck GBs from my local drive however and so I had to quit the app to stop it eating all my space completely.
But now I would like to know where the big file is and how I can delete it, does anyone know? I would really like to run a node (for the sake of Monero and for me) but unless I can't run it using an external drive, then this isn't going to work for me and I'll to continue to use myMonero.com
Thanks for your help.

Guys... is it just *me* or am I wrong to sense we're getting "attacked" around the InterWebs more lately?
Anti-Monero trolls and/or butt-hurts coming at us more and more...??
Must mean good ol' HoneyPony's been doin' something right lately, eh? LOL

Nice. Why dont you sell it? I'm not that guy on the webpage. Othe said he talked to him and he's just some Romanian guy that has owned that domain for like ten years, and for some reason just keeps only a picture of himself posted on there. Oh. I got it now. well. Thats a cool domain. Im sure he can get a few btc for it if he tried.

Found out how to do it here: http://ianlunn.co.uk/articles/quickly-showhide-hidden-files-mac-os-x-mavericks/ - amazing, there's all sorts of shit in there! : ) Can I just move this folder .Bitmonero to my USB drive and it will carry on doing its thing from there? That's what I originally wanted...

It is interesting, coinbase may have interests in adding monero? If this is true, xmr will go no.3, just ranks after btc and eth
