Things could get interesting if xmr breaks out here.

Its clearly a pump and its not limited to xmr only. Dash is also heavily pumped right now. And I really doubt that suddenly lots of people decided to start using anon right now.

The only question is what will be the new support after this? Hopefully more than 170-180k.

Looks like a pump and I still haven't figured out how to sell.

It had been in the 190's for a couple of days before the breakout so I imagine it will be higher than that.  Maybe (pulls out of ass) at least 210.

I will be getting paid a few btc next week.  Let's see how lucky I get with the price of both.

OT: my time logged into BCT is 78 days Grin

246-250k will first act as major support zone now, because that was the 2nd breakout zone on high volume, which already has been tested twice by dumps on high volume. If that breaks 210-214k will probably act as support zone, because that was the 1st breakout zone on high volume.

Hi All. I've been reading about and following monero development for a long while, but haven't got much involved in the discussions. Need to break my silence though since I can't find a solution to this:

Every time I try to send more than a few dozen monero (from mymonero) I get an error message that says "Too Many Amounts". When I moved my balance from the old version wallet to mymonero I had the same problem and ended up having to spend half a day guess amounts that might work. My hope was that I could avoid messing around with the full software and more easily manage my wallet online. Now I'd like to move some of my balance to a cold wallet and I'm having the same problems at mymonero. Too Many Amounts.

EDIT:
Also getting other errors: "invalid Transaction" and something about "unspent outs"

What's this about? Am I doing something wrong? Is there a solution forthcoming? Sorry to break my silence with a complaint, but it's frustrating. On the upside, I'm pretty damn pumped about what is being developed here! Thanks.

You likely have (too) many dust outputs, which makes it more difficult to construct a transaction and subsequently broadcast it. Simplewallet has an option to "sweep" your dust, but I am not sure how to solve it in MyMonero. I'll forward this to fluffypony too.

Also, general remark, if you incur any error at MyMonero please email support (too):

support[at]mymonero[dot]com

Thanks. I'll send them a note. Since I had this same problem with the old wallet I thought perhaps it was an ongoing general issue and not necessarily related to mymonero. My understanding is that dust is small unuseable amounts of monero and I've seen some mention of the sweep_dust command, but how do you use it? Do you flag a transaction with it or is it a general maintenance process? Where does the dust go?

Thanks again.

The sweep_dust command basically bundles your dust outputs and sends it back to your own wallet such that they (the outputs) are spendable.

The problem you currently face is that your transaction gets too big if you combine all your outputs (including the dust ones). Therefore, you can only send smaller amounts.

Furthermore, your transaction is most likely bigger than 20 KB, which is currently the minimum blocksize limit and the median blocksize, and is therefore rejected by MyMonero. This problem will soon be solved since we'll switch to a minimum blocksize of 60 KB after the hardfork of March 20. See:

https://forum.getmonero.org/20/general-discussion/2409/increasing-the-minimum-block-size

I hope this sufficiently answered your question(s).

Questions for Monero's experts

1)When is Monero going to be listed in a decentralized exchange? otherwise it kinda of defeats part of its purpose

2)Is Monero working on something to protect themselves from DOS attacks? i.e. https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/48kk9s/bitcoin_blockchain_dos_attack_feb_2829_2016_video/

Once things hit the fan and people start moving their capital to cryptos these 2 things will be very important

I will answer 2. This type of attack (Generating spam transactions in order to force an increase in fees) does not work in Monero because of the adaptive blocksize limit. It works in a crypto currency with a fixed blocksize limit when the blocks are close to full as is currently the case in Bitcoin and is actually profitable for a miner with a small percentage of the hash rate. It is a fundamental flaw not only in Bitcoin but in any crypto currency with fixed a blocksize.  Given the large number of alt coins that have simply copied Bitcoin in this area this means a lot of alt-coins.

Rates are shooting up, the shorters are going to have a tough time. Around 0.5% now:

EDIT: Make that 1%

Another breakout on heavy volume, this time trough the tough 246k resistance:

Next resistance will be around 280k.

On first glance, I like the look of exodus.io

Can anyone comment on it in terms of privacy, usability?
Cheers, Q

It isn't integrated yet. Their CTO answered some questions on reddit -> https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/48gd48/exodusio_a_decentralized_platform_for_investing/

Clean break on high volume of the ~210k resistance level, which was previously a double top:

Furthermore, 4h MACD flipping to green.

You all should have listened to my advice to dump XMR and buy ETH in January! I've since sold 400BTC worth of ETH and still hold 35k in cold storage.. My XMR holdings are 0 now.

Do it NOW before its too late! Don't forget its all over for XMR once ring signature dapp comes out (Vitalik personally working on it!)

You were right on January. Unfortunately I am afraid it is too late now to buy eth as it is pretty expensive. Better to stick coins that are undervalued, such  as xmr.

Thing with those kind of predictions is .... if they come true people like you tell us widely about it from left to right ear.... but if they donīt come true there is SILENCE... welcome to the Internet 101.

If you take a look at my post history you'll see I dumped my first 30k xmr for ETH back in September when it was at the bottom (0.0025). XMR is dead, ETH is going to eat it alive. Get out now before its too late. Satoshi Roundtable conference was Monero's last chance - instead of getting whales interested in the tech. fluffy goes full retard - drinks and gets into fights with conference members...

Who says he hasn't?

Also, the tweet primer is talking about -> https://mobile.twitter.com/fluffyponyza/status/704113681219624960

Which is obviously sarcastic.
1790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Thoughts on Zcash? on: March 03, 2016, 12:42:14 PM

That blog post doesn't mention the weaknesses of Cryptonote/RingCT which I have explained numerous time. I posted a comment to that blog and it still hasn't appeared. Thus so far, I think that blog is a monero shilling vehicle and not objective.

I'm not sure it is a shilling vehicle, though it might be. Zcash appears to have paid PR going on which gets it a lot of coverage in places like Wired (along with grossly unethical pumping from bitcoin.com, owned by Roger Ver, an investor in Zcash), while Monero does not. Thus it is quite plausible that people might just want to respond to the aggressive Zcash shilling and point out some less rosy perspectives on it that you certainly won't hear from the paid PR and pumpers.

Agree. Furthermore, the blog post was about Zcash and Monero was only mentioned twice (once as rebuttal that Monero can't hide amounts) and once as an alternative. I agree with TPTB_need_war that if the blogpost was about Monero weaknesses should be addressed.
1791  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: DASH scam exposed at the Satoshi Roundtable retreat! on: March 03, 2016, 10:47:41 AM
rangedriver, today I started adding boiled red kidney beans (24 hour soaking) to my diet in addition to oatmeal, steamed vegetables, and fresh tuna (soup and raw sashmi). No oil, no rice, no sugars, no bread. So I will complete cut out all carbos that aren't loaded with fiber. I will also moderate my fruit intake. Let's see if that will starve any pathogens/fungi in my body.

On this diet, I feel the inside of abdomen is an inferno, yet it is cold to the touch. Something is going on. And I have continued to be alert today. Sort of difficult to concentrate with this hot sensation inside my body, but isn't painful (not burning just feels very hot inside), just annoying or distracting.

This list might interest you, basically products that have a really high fiber ratio, no sugar and also fairly rich in protein:

http://greatist.com/health/surprising-high-fiber-foods

I'd recommend the first five or so.
1792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: [XMR] Monero Speculation on: March 03, 2016, 02:56:32 AM
Market has swalllowed a large dump over the past couple of days.  That creates a little air pocket in demand, which takes maybe a couple of days to fill.  How fast and how firm the fill will tell us a lot about the moneyflow trends, whether they are short-term rising or falling.

Considering that the bid side was below 300 BTC shortly after the dump, I'd say pretty good.

What good news are you thinking of?  There are so many possible candidates that I don't even...

Trezor support     https://forum.getmonero.org/4/academic-and-technical/2495/experimental-trezor-firmware-testing
GUI Wallet under active development    https://github.com/mbg033/monero-core
Hard fork coming up to fix mixin 0 problem
Kovri under active development to fix IP address problem    https://github.com/monero-project/kovri
RingCT will be implemented sometime in 2016
Community funding of community / core projects totaling 62,788 XMR

Oh yeah, and of course, Monero a secure and fungible digital currency that can be used here and now

You forgot some things :-P

- Exodus integrating XMR (exodus.io)
- Multi-sig
- 2 minute block times which will improve security of the network

I am probably forgetting some myself too.

Another pointless thread with absolutely no merit. It's getting annoying.

This seems to have hidden a bit, makes me wonder what other bugs are out there.

First test report, thanks to ferritinjapan!

Ta. It looks pretty good so far. Wallet loads up after initialisation in chrome on mytrezor.com, loaded up with simplewallet no problem, made a watching wallet from the viewkey which is synched on the 9.1 version of simplewallet. Looks like the watchonly wallet see all the transactions it is supposed to. Sent a Monero to the Trezor address and recognised the transaction on the network. Once it unlocked I sent some of it back after confirming it on the Trezor. Recognised by the network no problem. So far so good! Fantastic work getting this up and going BTW, I thought we'd be waiting more than a year for something even close to a Monero hardware wallet.

Also, general remark:

Question:

Quote
It runs, but I have no idea how to input the pin properly when it is requested. How does that work on the command line?

Answer:

Please use the numeric keypad to input the corresponding box.

https://forum.getmonero.org/4/academic-and-technical/2495/experimental-trezor-firmware-testing

From this it sounds like the finished product is closer than I thought!

Is there a way to improve privacy by running it with your own node instead of mytrezor.com which will require a view key in order to work?

Better ask that to NoodleDoodle on the forum!

Hey guys I relatively new to the Monero market, is there a peak time for trading? I'm on the US east coast so I see the markets during the day here and seems like there's a decent amount of activity. I'm looking to snag more (cheaper) XMR during the lull times of trading.

Most users/community members are from Europe and US as far as I know. Thus, I would say look for times when it overlaps and preferably after work time, so 20:00-24:00 UTC probably (I think that's 14/15:00-18/19:00 in the US).
