We will switch the existing early adopter lifetime license model to a subscription-based model

I paid in FULL for a Lifetime Ultra package just THIS MONTH. I don't agree to Switch and Bait tactics. Nor a lifetime of very high subscription fees on a package you agreed would be Free for life when I paid for it.

You can keep the product you bought for life.

I never said there were free updates for life.

I am disappointed with this announcement.

Leonardo/Margin will not fit my needs anymore as a very small investor. Sad
Its a shame I really liked it and will continue using Leonardo until it stops working altogether.

Same. This totally feels like a bait and switch. Extremely disappointing especially considering that the plan offered to "hero" customers seems like an afterthought.

This is a joke right?

We listen to our customers and then make an offer and you also don't like that!!

He never said he didn't like it, he said it seemed like an afterthought. Which it was.... originally there were no perks to being a early adopter, yes good for you for listening to the cry's of bullshit afterwards, its just bad business to not start off with a good offer for legacy users first and not a "OOPS People are Pissed" reason.

is simply NOT true. Read the original post.

Hi,can i change the notification sound?and thanks for the Hero offer, sounds fair.

We use the system notifications so on a Mac for example you would choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sound, then click Sound Effects.

Thanks for the support,
Jonathan

Hey guys,

Thanks to G B and Alex for pointing this out. Some people are having issues with Binance that may require a system clock re-sync.

Here are the instructions for Windows users.

1. Right click on the time in the task bar and select "Adjust date/time". In the window that appears, make sure "Set time automatically" is on.

2. In the same window, click on "Additional date, time & regional settings", then under "Date and Time" go to "Set the time and date". In the "Internet Time" tab, click "Change settings...", then make sure "Synchronize with an Internet time server" is selected and click "Update now", then "OK".

3. Next, run services.msc via the Start menu, then right click on "Windows Time" in the list of services and select "Properties". Make sure "Startup type" is set to "Automatic" and that the service is started right now. Click the "Start" button if the service status is "Stopped" right now.

4. If all else fails, start a PowerShell as administrator and run the following lines:

Code:
net stop w32time

w32tm /unregister

w32tm /register

net start w32time

w32tm /resync

Best wishes,
Christian

That's what I think also. You're sold software that was advertised for life for a one time fee, then they just change the name and charge a subscription fee. This is a lose a customer business model.

It almost feels like they intentionally moved to create a purchasing frenzy by telling everyone to buy now before the impending price hike. This ultimately resulted in FOMO buying of their app (which is what I did)... while their strategy all along was to eventually move their business model from standalone application to a subscription base.

The change of business model in itself is NOT what I take issue with... it's the timing. This was clearly an opportunistic move,  which is why many of us who purchased licences just a few weeks ago feel cheated.

Thanks for the 2 week notice Margin!

Sure we get to keep our app, but the promise of lifetime updates that were made at the time of purchase are meaningless. I purchased the ultimate license despite their app being riddled with issues. I believed in supporting Margin with the hope that they would eventually evolve LeonArdo into usable state for the majority of it's licensees.

Such a shame.

The timing was bad for you, maybe, but when would have been a good time?

At the risk of sounding like a broken down record - we had to do this!

You just can't win with some people?

>>It almost feels like they intentionally moved to create a purchasing frenzy by telling everyone to buy now before the impending price hike

We never said buy now! And if we hadn't told you guys about the price hike beforehand you would also have bitched.

Although this is a little disappointing, I will continue to support your work as i do love the interface.

I only really use the interface to monitor arbitration opportunities on multiple exchanges these days, or when building positions across multiple exchanges. The strategies work well, but with cashes and api errors , conection drops etc.
i cannot leave it un attended safely, and regularly loose my saved strategy data after updates or crashes this is so frustrating as sometimes there are 3-6 market pairs per exchange, with 2 to 4 bots running per pair. it takes quiet some time to rebuild each strategy and find out where each one was up to in its cycle.
Over time Leo has made some great proffits but also lost substantial amounts due to failures.

AS i understand it ? As a "Hero". I can continue to use current software indefinitely? i can trial the new software for 12 months as a continuation of my existing purchase, then go on an annual subscription at a 50% discount. Is this correct?
You have come a long way with the development since the early days, it has been great watching it evolve.
Wish you the best of luck moving forward Wink
P.S i would still love to see an arbitration bot across supported exchanges and a 50/200EMA  or 9/21EMA bot with a 2 candle delay for confirmation.

Yes, this is correct!

Thanks for your support Dan.

leonArdo is rebranding as ...

We are excited to announce the upcoming rebranding of leonArdo as margin and the release of a new website. This entails a number of changes for our existing hero customers and we want to run through them here.

I do not think you guys are ready for the limelight yet, Profit Trailer which is leaps and bounds ahead of you is still on non subscription and I can see why they would switch over to subscription. I have not been able to make money off of this program without having it retraced because it does not even have trailing buys and sells.   Once you go to subscription I'm afraid you will fail unless you have an ace in the pocket, just look at CryptoHopper bot for reference on what a paid subscription should have and they are only 5 bucks more a month then you guys and no balance limit. I completely stopped using this product a month back in hopes ya'll would come up with better strategies or something to keep profits from dwindling because stop-losses are known to not be an effective tool when using a bot, but that is all you have to offer.  You are changing the rules on everyone even if some are ok with it, some of us bought early before price hike in hopes that you would fulfill your promises of having more strategies and be able to modify more setting and development and were ok with paying a good amount of money with the potential of a better product in the end.  Yes we get to keep the product for a lifetime, but what good is a half built/half promised product. Let me just say I don't know if its just me but if this product stated you buy once and get a lifetime of product with no updates I would not have purchased it and I'm sure others feel the same way.
Good Luck with your Endeavors.... Turfy Out.

Hmm, in any of the competition you mentioned I am failing to find a trading terminal at all. We are only getting started with new bots to follow on from the recent addition of our Bollinger Band bot. With margin everything is done in the GUI - an actual GUI mind you, not some list of parameters -, everything is beautifully visualised in chart. That's the philosophy we have had from the start. We have built a trading terminal (drag n drop orders, in chart news feeds, multi-window support, built in indicators), not just scripted some bot.

And now, despite what you think, we are ready for the limelight. We have reworked our entire bot interface to make the addition of new bots easy. We already have the most sophisticated crypto trading terminal on the market and we are only getting started with bots...

All the best,
Jonathan

Edit: Before we get to a strategy editor we will add a trend watcher as a general feature to spot order bots like the Bollinger Band bot to help ensure that the bot does not buy or sell when the market is trending

Hey, that sounds interesting. Can you share some details on how it will operate?

We are working on it, but the idea is to check whether the market is trending - to do that will involve combining some well known indicators - and if a trending market is detected, the bot will wait until the trend ends and only then buy or sell.

Best wishes,
Jonathan

This week I have added Binance to my account (yes, still possible). In Windows 10 x64 I only get "credential error" while in Raspberry it works immediately. Pls, verify there is a bug in the Windows version (3.8.0) and correct it.

Did you re-download the Windows binary after adding the Binance key as well?

All the best,

  Rene

Yes. Just now, I re-download again. I have stopped in Raspberry. Start the re-downloaded Windows, still the same error.

Hmm, if you are switching between machines you need to make sure that the clock times are the same on both.

A few customers are having issues with Binance keys and we don't know why yet. We are looking into it.

All leonArdo customers are Heroes!

If you have a balance of over 3K and want to use margin then you need the Standard plan.

Details of the plans are in our announcement post: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1467939.msg30843316#msg30843316

Nice move!  Thank you very much. Really appreciated and good way to reward your early adopters customers.

I am very impressed with 3.8.0 on technical merit(Ubuntu). This version is more frugal with memory, I have not experienced any memory increase in over 24 hours which is a first for me. Also the CPU utilization is lower and more smooth according to the graph. Welcome improvements, thanks!

Great! thanks for the feedback.

I've been trying the bot for few days now. Zero crashes overnights, which is good.

A question - is there a way to configure the app so that I can do say, BUY BUY SELL BUY SELL SELL SELL, etc? Currently, it only does BUY SELL BUY SELL, etc.

Also, when using Bollinger, is there a way to use RSI chart to further confirm the signals before making the actions?

Thanks much!

At the moment there is not such an option. We plan to introduce a strategy editor in the future to make such adaptions.

All the best,

  Rene

What is a "Hero early adopter customers"? Is that all existing Leonardo customers?

Also, what is the subscription price for those who needs more than $3k limit? I can't seem to find any info on the new model on your website...

Update to the announcement

After discussing what we could do for our Hero early adopter customers, in recognition of the fact that you guys got us to this point, we have decided to give a special status of Hero to every leonArdo customer going forward. It won't just be that you have a Hero badge in your version of margin, but it entitles you to a 50% discount on all future margin terminal subscription payments. The offer will kick in if you sign up for a subscription within a month of your free period ending.

We wanted to also make the point that switching to a subscription based model is absolutely necessary for us. We are a real company, with real employees who have families and mortgages and have to be paid at the end of each month. If the market only saw month on month growth then it might be possible to survive by sticking to the lifetime license model, but this is not the case. Catastrophic events like what happened in mid January, where a lot of cryptos lost up to 70% of their value, have a huge effect on our revenue. This puts everything we have built up in danger and if not dealt with could mean us having to close for business - which would also mean no updates for leonArdo. This was not a decision we took lightly, rather one we couldn't avoid.

I would like to know who they're your Hero early adopter customers, what's your plan for existing customers?
btw I already have license for bittrex.

You are also a Hero then!

All leonArdo customers are Smiley

Wait.... am I the only one that leonArdo 3.8.0 is not working (iMac 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5; IOS 10.10.5) on Binance  Huh.  My Bittrex exchange works sometimes, but Binance is NOT usable for Bot Trading at all. The Binance Bots ALWAYS stop within a few hours due to errors (you have my logs).

So, how do I move ahead with leonArdo 3.8.X (2 exchanges) when it doesn't work?  Wait for more updates?  Do you thing the Dev's can fix it  Huh  There are many things I could go on with, but it still comes back to "it doesn't work 24/7 or at least overnight".

Since I'm a HEAC, I will stay testing each update until the END or I just give up!

Hi,

Yes, it works overnight and the vast majority of customers do not have the issues you are describing here.

I know you have been in touch with support but I would encourage you to keep in contact and we will try to figure out why you have the issue you do.

Best wishes

Is the new subscription based software based on Leonardo, or is it completely new, especially from the GUI perspective?

margin is an evolution of leonArdo and remains a desktop application.

doesnt surprise me they are switching to a subscription based model, most other bots are like this....makes sense that they have to keep money coming in to keep supporting development

when will this take effect?

Hi bitChipper,

We expect to switch in the next couple of weeks.
