1. When and why did you become interested in cryptocurrencies?
When Visa, PayPal, etc cut off Wikileaks. Bitcoin has always been mostly political to me, but there are other interesting elements.
2. When and why did you buy your first bitcoin?
Early-ish, and because I needed some to play around with the system. I had to port the code to my OS, and there was no auto-configuration system. Only after doing some of that did I find that 6 month old writings were obsolete and CPU mining was no longer practical. Ultimately I decided that buying made a lot more sense than mining, or at least it would most of the time due to the adaptive nature of proof-of-work cryptocurrencies.
3. How did you get on the forum?
T.V. BitCoin.Org Forum. This was split off from bitcoin.org about the time Thermos took it over from Sirius IIRC.
4.1. What prevents mass adoption of cryptocurrencies?
Common sense to a degree. It's not a good solution as an exchange currency in my opinion, and relatively few people have use for a reserve currency.
4.2. How do you think mass advertising of gambling projects has a positive effect on the development of the forum or harms the community?
Dunno. I see people's spam sigs but don't pay much attention to them. Gambling is not my thing, but it doesn't bother me, and after 30 years of practice, recognizing and ignoring spam is pretty second nature.
4.3. How do you consider whether 2-3 years of experience in cryptocurrency is enough to successfully invest or does an investor need to receive special education?
Some people get it right with no 'education' at all, and some never will. Anyone is is competent to play around with Bitcoin (maybe 5% of the population) ought to be able to figure out a strategy for 'investing' as you call it. I'd call it hard-core speculation. Still.
4.4. What are the main ideas of bitcoin maximalism do you think are good and what ideas do you disagree with?
Never heard of it. Sounds like a stupid gimmick to me.
5. What do you think of the current Merit system and signature campaigns? Do they harm the forum?
I think it's funny to see assholes like the 'cycling club' guys abuse it. Like wiping one's ass on Thermos' hard work which is laudable for it's good intentions but not thought out with appropriate system analysis.
6. The most useful forum topic? Most helpful users?
Dunno. I fuck around almost exclusively on P&S just for fun. I'm actually not very interested in Bitcoin and have not been since the bloat wars of half a decade ago (which were won by 'my side' ultimately thank God!)
7. 3 things you would implement on the forum?
anti-censorship (which they do a reasonable job with and always have which is why I am still around.)
8. Do you trade on exchanges or invest in projects?
I support alternative media content creators mostly.
9. Tell a story about your big profit or big loss?
I like to 'sell into strength'. Because it's hard to sell, I have routinely sold later than desired and it is normally an extra windfall for me. Thank you, SEC and friends, for fucking with trading platforms and the like.
10. What do you think about the DEFI ecosystem?
Don't know what it is.
11. Is your anonymity a vital necessity or precaution?
Not a bad idea, but 'security through obscurity' is a loser. Best to have other methods of protecting oneself.
12. The last cryptocurrency book you read?
Never read a hard-copy book on the topic.
13. Advise 3 cryptocurrencies/tokens for investment in the next 1-2 years?
Consider your 'investments' to be thrown away. If they pan out, great! I've not screwed around with any alternate cryptocurrencies. To lazy to learn what I would need to know to do it successfully.
14. How much will Bitcoin cost at the end of 2020?
Between $10k and $20k would be my guess. We need it to become widely illegal before the big fireworks, but I could see another cyclic run-up before that happens, and the next one (if there is a next one) might get us up into the $50k to $100k range. Much higher than that implies a hyper inflationary collapse where it doesn't make much sense to denominate in USD terms.
