Science is a tool, but many scientists don't use it properly and cling to their beliefs on faith alone.
It could be considered a religion in some ways. Science tries to explain the whole universe, most religions do the same. Quantum goes full circle and puts belief before creation. Religion does it on faith. Science adapts its views based on what's observed and goes out of its way to find observations that conflict with its current understanding of the world. Not the same by a long shot. Until your theory threatens their funding, then they refuse to consider your evidence and proceed blindly in the wrong direction. Also, as a critically thinking Christian, my beliefs are indeed based on observation and I actively seek out new experiences that frequently force me to see the world differently. Blind faith is an error that can be made by scientists and religious people alike. |

There is the dilemma I guess. Money in of itself is not evil. The LOVE of money is evil. Do I love money? I think it is hard not to be tempted by the comfort it can bring for sure. I wrestle with this. I am going to India in six weeks and I will be hit in the face and greatly humbled by those that can live lives of complete contentment and even joy with far less than I have. So in a way you are right. It is an area that I probably have some issues with, especially growing up in a rich area in the United States that is surrounded by every luxury we could ever want.
You almost sound smug beforehand, as if you're being a better person by deciding to go somewhere where people are poor, and already portraying yourself as 'being humbled' before you even went. As a critically thinking Christian (a rear breed indeed), I can assure you that the vast majority of Christians do see themselves as "better". But, I also think most of them are fools who take the wrong things literally while ignoring the crucial truths that can be found in religious texts of all creeds. @BitChick, while you're in India PLEASE do more listening than talking, especially about religion. |

I'm a known a-religionist, but trust me there's nothing stronger than faith. It's somehow incorporated into this damn Matrix. Like a virus, or a secret weapon which whoever possesses a glimpse of it, can make miracles. Christian, Buddhist, Science; whatever you believe, if you believe it strongly, you can actually make it real.

Do you really think ETF will boost the price of Bitcoin. I do not believe on this theory. An open door where millions of dollars can instantly be poured into Bitcoin easily? How can it not boost the price is the question! Simply: if a door opens and you can buy toilet paper for $400, will you jump in? Just because the opportunity has opened for this?  Don't think so. Bitcoin was ONLY interesting as long long as bubbles could have happened. Those times are done (maybe there will be a couple of SMALL bubbles, but in the end market lost the confidence in BTC, as it should have been loosing it. It's a joke, which can be manipulated, destroyed, or raised with a few millions of USD. That is something that NEVER could happen with any real currency in the world). My retired father has $10k in his retirement account he's ready to drop in as soon as it is available. He doesn't want to invest any other way for tax reasons. I'm sure he's not alone. |

Maybe it is time to pray everyone.  I seriously was praying that if there was anyone purposefully manipulating Bitcoin that they would stop. Perhaps I should now pray that they just manipulate it the other direction? I think that will be my prayer now! I have a noble cause for wanting the price to go up. I am leaving for a mission trip in six weeks and we could use some more funds for a few things we want to do (medical camps, gifts for the elderly homes etc. . .) Although God can provide in ways other than pumping up the Bitcoin price, it would certainly be an easy way to get the much needed funds at this point. I too have a noble cause... I want a Ferrari and a helicopter, or do you want me to take the bus everyday like now? No way! So, oh Mercury the almighty, indicate me the direction and I will follow it and sacrifice 10 puffy lambs in your blessed name. Amen. sure. What i start to see around here though is this preaching of 'hodling' and 'it will be 10k$ 100% sure' ... i think that's dangerous. And to go to the length of telling people the orders were an illusion tops it off really. Maybe next time better more accurate.
Sure, having certainty about any market is dangerous. But, to a certain degree walls are sometimes used to create misperception of support/resistance. Is something meant to create misperception not the definition of an illusion? I'm not sure what you're trying to say with the bold part, I got a parse error trying to read it. |

RyNinDaCleM I also have a question, if you don't mind: in your opinion where did the bear market of 2011 end, mid October or mid November?  My problem is that the largest volume down was in mid November, but the appearance was of a flash crash, so it looked to me more like a half-failed first sub-wave of wave 1 that lead the sellers to believe it was going to drop to 1$. Zoom in, much of the volume on the 14th was support.  Since it is kind of hard to see the volume on the big red candle, here is the raw data, btc volume bolded: 2011-11-14 00:00:00 2.99573 2.99573 2.45 2.46082 48935.23 131623.81 2.69 2011-11-14 01:00:00 2.46082 2.74999 2.46082 2.55 41662.84 107080.98 2.57 2011-11-14 02:00:00 2.55185 2.7 2.499 2.60002 98127.51 250252.12 2.55 2011-11-14 03:00:00 2.6001 2.74 2.4 2.47223 62247.65 155135.56 2.49 So, for those 4 candles on the beginning of the 14th, we have 111,182.88 BTC on the two red candles and 139,790.35 BTC on the green candles. Price didn't bottom until a few days later, on lower volume, but the 14th is when the sellers exhausted themselves. |

So you think there is one large guy who controls all exchanges on international level and that guy holds millions of bitcoin and has billions in capital to drive the price wherever he wants, right? There is no free market here at work, right? Supply and demand is just an illusion, right? First off, I'm not spazzdla. Second, quit with the hyperbole, it makes it obvious you are trolling instead of trying to have a rational discussion true, didn't read the username. Still the same thing. I think the orders are very real right now. Real in the sense they are backed by funds on an exchange, yes. TOR is only as secure as the exit nodes on the network. I assure you, the FBI and other three letter agencies are watching a lot of that traffic and arrest warrants are being written up. Not to mention, the obvious weak link in this entire online black market is not the payment protocol, but the physical delivery. You're giving authorities the address of your home, or at least the pick up location so they can set up a sting.
But this is what you're counting on for bitcoin to become a paradigm changer worldwide? OK, good luck with that.
If they start jailing small time consumers on any sort of scale we will see marijuana legalized within months. Their interest is in finding the dealers, which people will stand for, preserving their drug war funding. |

Anyone else in here use Circle?
I've never experienced a better way to buy bitcoins. So easy my grandma can do it.
A lot of people here would love to experience Circle, if they would ever fkn approve our requests for an account. I've been sending them email requests since April. I requested an invite once within a week of it being available. I got my invite today. Perhaps they don't like being spammed? |
