Crown Core Team Announcement 28th August 2017

Delayed Launch for Crown Atomic

We have delayed the launch of Crown Atomic. With three days to go before our original launch date of 1st September, we reviewed our current position and we have decided that we aren't currently happy enough with the code to release it and feel that we have an opportunity to improve the quality and depth of what the API will offer before releasing it to the wild.

We won't be putting an exact date on the revised launch but we expect that it will be no later than 1st October 2017.

New Team Member

We are delighted to announce that Artem Brahzhnikov (@artem), a mathematician, cryptographer and talented C++ developer has joined the Crown development team. Artem brings a huge amount of knowledge and experience to the team and has quickly taken to the Crown code. Artem's clarity of mind and experience with transactional systems will be a huge boost to our development path in the coming months.

The Crown Atomic delay is partly driven by us wanting to have an opportunity for Artem to use his fresh eyes to quality control what we have so far, before asking the community to help us test.

It is the first time that the Crown team has missed a significant deadline and not a decision that we have taken lightly. We are confident that it is the correct decision and that the delay will benefit the project.
242  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: superblock on: August 27, 2017, 08:09:28 AM
can someone explain me what a superblock is, and what are the advandages?

Don't they have them at Pivx yet?  What have they been doing?!  Crown is a Bitcoin fork with some Dash features, I thought Pivx was a Dash fork.

Superblocks are part of the decentralised autonomous organisation features coded by Evan Duffield, originally for Dash.

Essentially, anybody can submit a proposal for development funds to the network and if it receives enough votes from masternode operators, the proposal is approved.  Roughly once a month, a superblock is generated which mints coins and pays the development funds to the person who made the proposal.  Its a form of decentralised development funding which ensures that the community is always incentivised to devise new features and services.

You can see information about Crown proposals and superblocks here:  http://crown.today

At current prices, the network distributes over $60,000USD to the community to make cool stuff every month.
243  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: masternode on: August 27, 2017, 07:54:01 AM
is there a need to update Masternode /TRON client in the near future?

for example pivix hat an mandory update for masternodes some weeks ago ....

is there a mailinglist, when i get notification, if the masternode needs an mandatory update?

The next scheduled mandatory release probably won't be until November.

There is no mailing list yet but I have been meaning to set one up for masternode operators for some time.  I will do that next week.
244  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][HLM] HELIUM - PRE NOTICE on: August 26, 2017, 03:11:01 PM
Count me in on bounty too!

me three . I  like Helium and its platform it will make DASH a run for the money with service nodes.

Has Helium provided any details on how service nodes will work?  I might be a little out of date but the last I heard, Dash were struggling with Proof of Service themselves.

Is there going to be a testnet that is accessible to the public before launch in September?

Finally, has the service node model been submitted for academic review, even if the details are being kept private for now?

My English not very good. What is Proof of Service?

I like the sound of that. Sounds, interesting.

The service node model is a service provision network which is covered in the white paper.

Essentially, if a service provider doesn't provide a service, you stop paying them and move on to another service provider. That's where the Uber or TripAdvisor style ratings model helps. Both parties to a service transaction can rate each other. Bad actors on both sides get weeded out of the network.

The trick with our service node model will be the Service Node provider setting up an encrypted channel so that a user can access their nodes securely. The area of more detailed effort on our part will be adding a hardware component so that the user can generate private keys locally thus avoiding having to trust the Service Node provider.

Did you have a particular academic in mind to send the paper to? Drop me an email, I'd be more than up for sending it for review or giving access to a PhD candidate.

Wow. My English got better the more I typed. Tongue

I must have got the wrong end of the stick, my bad.

I assumed that you were going in a different direction to that.  Academic review won't be needed if you're not going down the cryptographic proof path. It will be real interesting to see how this pans out, free markets are free markets after all.

i am feeling really stupid because i only see .dll files in the directory and no .conf file

can i backup my wallet ad reinstall spreadcoin-qt?

That won't help as the wallet will still struggle to connect to the network.

If you are using Windows, your conf will be in C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\Spreadcoin

@georgem  Have you checked your seed nodes recently?  A  few people have noticed problems connecting to the network in recent months.  Anecdotally, it seems to be getting worse.

I haven't ever had a problem with it not connecting and i've had it up for probably 3 years at this point.

This sort of problem can be very much regional.  WIth p2p networks it shouldn't be, but the reality is that if a region is light on nodes it can be hard to connect.

Exciting times ahead and welcome to the team Jerry Ruiz and the social media marketing person.

The social marketing person will have a name when his current obligations are completed  Smiley

Hi,

I bought some coins and transferred them to my wallet on Spreadcoin-QT.

Now the Spreadcoin-qt program shows out of synq the whole time without showing my coins.

Please help

No need to worry, just wait for the wallet to sync and your coins will appear.

It might take a long time but it will get there.

Great Smiley

Thank you.

I am still worried because it says no block source available and it does not look asif it is synqing.

I think almost all seed nodes were turned off when the Spreadcoin team left for other projects, hence the connection problems.  I downloaded the SPR wallet a few weeks ago and it found some connections after a few hours but I have since deleted it so I can't tell you whether things are the same for me now.

Try adding these nodes to your spreadcoin.conf

Did the helium creators work on this project? Are they listed as contributors on the spreadcoin github? Thanks guys.

Coins101 worked on this project and founded Helium.  I'm not aware of any other Spreadcoin members involved in HLM.  Most of the other team members now work on Crown.
So Helium and Spreadcoin will coexist together?

My understanding is that they will be totally separate. Coins101 created Helium in response to lack of progress here.   Helium will go in one direction after the snapshot, and Spreadcoin will continue under Georgem.

As far as I can tell from this thread and spreadcointalk, Spreadcoin is no longer under development although that might just be a lack of communication from Georgem.

Crown Team Meeting - Toronto - 18th August 2017

12 members of the core team met in the Windsor Arms Hotel in Toronto, flying just under 100,000km to be there.  The formal meeting was held between 0900 and 1600 however discussions continued long into the night and for several days.

Crown Atomic

The majority of the Friday session was spent discussing final details and plans for the Crown Atomic release including final confirmation of what would and wouldn't be included in the upcoming release.  The team discussed the API stubs and OP codes at length, with some time being  spent reviewing code by @mdz and @infernoman.

The team discussed and walked through the logic behind the Crown Atomic API and how it would work in reality using soon to be real life examples. Crown Atomic will be available in Testnet on 1st September.

Release Management & Testing

The team discussed and agreed that more formality was required in defining future releases.  It was agreed that a release management and testing procedure is to be created to assist in future releases.

Team Resourcing

Crown is delighted to announce that the core team is being joined by Jerry Ruiz, a hedge fund marketing manager originally from Ecuador but now based in Miami.  Jerry will be promoting Crown from within his circles and also working on use cases for the Latin American market.  https://www.linkedin.com/in/jerry-ruiz-b57aa8a1

It was announced at the meeting that a new core team member will be joining in September in order to help with PR, communications and marketing.  The new team member is finishing up his role at a major online tech magazine and is looking forward to helping move the project forwards.

Current team staffing levels were discussed and it was agreed that it would be beneficial to Crown to recruit some new C++ and QT5 developers. A recruitment drive will be announced soon. Recruitment will be aimed at both the crypto world and traditional IT employment markets.  If anybody has skills that they would like to bring to the Crown team, please contact us for an informal discussion.

Legal Structure

The ambition of the Crown project is to become a major decentralized platform to conduct business on. As such, an important hurdle to be taken is the legal structure to accommodate this.

To our knowledge, no legal framework that supports the legal side of crypto exist yet. So the Crown Team is pioneering in this, and are in the process of constructing a framework to facilitate an operation that can accommodate legal requirements.

The pieces of the puzzle are starting to come together, and look promising. We expect to have a legal framework that supports businesses in the US and EU in the not so distant future.

An announcement related to this will be made shortly.

Whitepapers

The Crown team and their partners are starting to work on four papers which will show concrete use cases of integration of a business through the Crown API and / or the layer which we envision to develop with Omni.

1. Integration of ouibring.com on to Crown, settling a transaction between two parties on the blockchain.

2. An application running on a Tron: NodeVps.com

3. A solution for a sovereign country to use cryptocurrency to manage debt obligations. The case study country will be Ecuador.

4. A startup platform using the blockchain to settle ownership, protect IPR and the overall contractual relationship between an angel investor and a new idea / startup.

Next Meeting

It was agreed that the next Core Team and public sessions will be held in Amsterdam on November 10th and 11th 2017.  It was suggested that the following core team meeting might be held in South America, feedback and suggestions on this choice of location are welcomed.

I wish more Devs made an in wallet vanity key generator. Is it difficult to make or something ? Just too much work ?

Its pretty simple to embed one in a wallet but its far better to just use vanitygen+ https://github.com/exploitagency/vanitygen-plus

It's a small download and supports 80 coins or more.  I suspect more people don't include a vanitygen because there is low demand for such a thing.

Seperately, some people consider vanity addresses to be poor practice, opening up possible attack vectors by tricking people into sending coins to an address that looks similar but is different.  Many developers don't like to encourage their use.

How on earth can Wagerr work without placing users and masternode owners at significant legal risk for unlicensed gambling offenses?

I raised the question at a conference  last week and the legal counsel there could think of no way that it could be done, even with encryption and obfuscation.

Can someone tell me how many payments a tron should receive in 24h?

stats.crowncentral.net

Payments should start comming in roughly after 48 hours though

With current tron numbers, your first payment won't arrive until about 72 hours after starting the tron.

I will try to be a little less obsessed in trying to work out whether you have abandoned this project or not.  It is a little unhealthy.  I was just sitting on a plane on the way to a meeting in Canada for another project and wanted to know if you were still refusing to discuss what you're working on in BCT or Spreadcointalk, thats all.

Given that six or so members of your community have asked for updates from you in recent times without a response it has become a bit of a bugbear of mine to try to find out what you think you have to hide.

My guess is that you actually don't have the skills to deliver anything that you (or admittedly, others) promised) and instead of facing up to it you're blaming everybody else but yourself and refusing to say anything that might shed light on this.

I think its a total embarassment that you are comitting more time to mocking somebody in public than updating your community about the progress of their project of which you are the custodian.

You should be ashamed of yourself, but you won't be because you obviously don't give a fuck about anybody other than yourself.

BTW...

Stop clogging the thread here with your obsessive tantrums.

The same guy who tried to put a leesh around my neck and write the whitepapers for me (lol) now wants to lecture me about when the appropriate time is for me to make a joke.

I guess you are what you are.

Get of your high horse.

Anyway, given that I still own a small quantity of SPR I'd be really interested in knowing how work is progressing on the decentralized block explorer and wondered if you were interested in talking about your plans for the next few months. Now that HLM has bought a lot of new attention to Spreadcoin, I'm sure I'm not the only person who would be interested to know what you are working on if anything.

Meh, a few seconds of fun should be allowed... or what, have you been drinking again that you take this so seriously?

I'm still waiting for you guys to "make the transition to HLM" .... what's with the delay?

People are invited to join me at www.spreadcointalk.org if they have questions or are looking for technical support.

I won't be spending much time here in this thread for obvious reasons, but we'll see...  Wink
