I just learned that stonehedge will do the weekly update tomorrow.

His weekend started a little early, ...  Smiley

Apologies all  Grin

I forgot to say that the wallet is working really well on OSX Yosemite and Windows 8.1 for me too.  I know it took a little while to get from beta to release but bugs were found and fixed...thats what testing and beta is for  Smiley

Thanks for checking mac version.

Ok, I say it's a wrap.

On to the next thing on the to-do-list.

Is it 12 letters long and does it begin and end with S?

 Cool

Alright.

All builds are finished.

New official Version is now 0.9.16.1

I replaced the old links with the new ones, so just use the official download links to get the newest wallet-versions (and daemons):

http://www.spreadcoin.info/downloads.php

List of new features/updates:

- Better implementation of Fallbacknodes (react quicker, and more of them available), so you'll probably never need to addNode in conf file ever again.
- Better control of vanitygen (you can use DELETE-Key to erase VanGen-Patterns you don't need anymore and RETURN key to add a VanGen-Pattern, meaning you don't need to click "add pattern" anymore while you type, this makes adding many patterns very easy.)
- Version Nr is now visible in splashscreen and header.
- removed a few layout bugs (depending on what linux system you used (KDE, GNOME) it had problems showing the nativeMenu-Bar (or the menubar within the window) correctly).
- minor improvements and removements of old unneeded stuff.

Let me know if everything works.

Thanks, and stay tuned for more.

PS Donations are highly welcomed.

P.S  Does anybody know how on earth BBCode tables work?!

to the google! I don't know, but every forum markup language seems to always be confusing and frustrating.

Also, I'd highly recommend switching to the ISO 8601 date and time format YYYYMMDD

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ISO_8601

keep up the good work!

I like the sound of being ISO8601 compliant  Smiley

Thanks for the positive post.

Now, if I eat less this month I can probably buy some more SPR  Cool

Spread Project Weekly Update #4

18th September 2015

Team Meeting Update

In light of the recent acknowledgement that development progress has been slow, a core team meeting was held on 14th September.

A total of 11 priority deliverables were identified and the top five priorities are listed here:

PriorityDeliverableOwnerTimeframe
1Servicenodes / PoBNgeorgemServicenodes in Testnet: 21/10/215. PoBN: End of 2015
2Official Block Explorerchaositec21/10/2015
3Openstream Site (Big Data Market)StonehedgeFrom 24th Sept (started but on hold)
4FundraisingCoins101 / StonehedgeFrom 14th Sept (underway)
5Finalise Preview Wallet ReleasegeorgemTBC

Some significant issues were identified during the course of the meeting.  The most critical issues are interlinked and detailed below:

Issue
Resolution
The development of servicenodes has not progressed at the necessary pace.
The core team discussed all outstanding tasks, helped the development team
prioritise deliverables and the non-development team members have assumed
responsibility for as many priority tasks as possible.
The development team require day jobs which means that time to spend on the Spreadcoin project is limited.
Coins101 and Stonehedge are exploring options for funding the development team.  Several mechanisms for funding have been identified.

The above priorities and issues were agreed unanimously.  The hiring of an extra developer has not been ruled out but it was agreed that it would not be beneficial at this time.

Blockchain2020

The Spreadcoin team are excited to announce a venture called Blockchain2020 which will be a sequence of Blockchain themed events to be hosted internationally in the build up to the next Bitcoin block halving day in 2016.  Planning for the first events is already progressing at pace with venues being booked and sponsors already expressing interest.

More information can be found here http://blockchain2020.com/.

Blockchain2020 is a Bitcoin community project that will form part of the Openstream data market.  All excess revenues from annual Blockchain conferences, after costs are covered and seed investors are compensated, will be distributed to people running full Bitcoin nodes.

Any fees generated from running Blockchain workshops will go to funding Spread development work and topping up payments to servicenodes or the SatoshiNakamoto van gen competition. Decisions about disbursements of excess funds from workshops will be for the community to decide.

Spreadcoin Project

Core Team Meeting 14/09/2015 1300 to 1550 BST

The highlight point of discussion was that Service Node development should be the highest priority and that every effort by the team will be focussed on making this happen in the quickest possible timeframe

+1

That is welcome news. No need to try and do everything at once. We just want to play with masternodes Service Nodes  Cool

Whilst we accomplished a huge amount today and have opened the floodgates to progress, we could have agreed on the fact we all want to play with service nodes in a lot less than 2 hours and 50 minutes of debate  Grin

I really can't wait to get my hands on some service nodes.  I love this project because its such a refreshing change from anon coin arguments and the other slightly tedious themes that have crept into crypto.  Its exciting just to be working on something different.

Spreadcoin Project

Core Team Meeting 14/09/2015 1300 to 1550 BST

The core team have just held a meeting to establish a list of outstanding tasks, ownership of those tasks and priorities for those tasks.  Resource shortage issues were also discussed at length.

This Friday’s update (18/9) will be a summary of the next steps and problem resolutions that were agreed in today’s meeting.

The highlight point of discussion was that Service Node development should be the highest priority and that every effort by the team will be focussed on making this happen in the quickest possible timeframe.  The team was in unanimous agreement on this decision and a number of actions were agreed that will help expedite service node development.

I look forward to providing you with more detail on Friday after we have had some time to further develop the outcomes of the meeting.

The McArabia looks like the "Greek Mac" that McDonalds used to sell in Spain (!)

The core Spreadcoin team are having a team meeting tomorrow.  I'm sure there will be news of some sort afterwards.  I'll be sure to summarise the discussions and post them here.

Yep, sorry for any misunderstanding, I quoted your post but really was replying more to the constant troll background drone that I'm just here for a quick buck, plus all their other jealous cynical hate spew, my apologies for linking that without being clear.

Do your thing, don't worry about scaredy/jealous comments. Hope your enormous investment reaps you crazy riches. And massive smugness.

I agree, it's great to see someone doing very well and strive to do it myself.

Let me be one of the first to put my hand up and admit that I'm as jealous as hell of Otoh.  However, having met him in real life and having a very wide ranging conversation about what makes people happy and my own general motivations in life I've managed to turn that jealousy into a powerful sense of wanting to do the best I can for me and my family.  He's a tremendously down to earth and warm man.  One of the very few people I implicitly trust in crypto.

I was just about to try to buy 500BTC of Dash but then saw AdamWhite's post.  I think I'll buy 500BTC of Monero instead just to be safe.  Roll Eyes

...Wherever there is need.. There is a way.. Look at ETH - The folks created the DAG file (and some other things) to keep pools etc away - Suprnova has a pool Smiley

Genius.  Grin

The thing that bothers me most is how inefficient the SprX11 bins are.  I did have a chat with wolf0 but we both let it slide due to general busyness.
1057  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] SpreadCoin | Decentralize Everything (official thread) on: September 07, 2015, 05:00:14 PM
And in general, how goes the fight for true decentralization?

Not too shabby. The potential of Mr Spread’s “anti-pool” innovation has been noted, borrowed, adopted, adapted and is now obliquely traceable via  reference #34 to Ziftrcoin (*) in Andrew Miller et als' preprint paper (PDF) Nonoutsourceable Scratch-Off Puzzles to Discourage Bitcoin Mining Coalitions.

So there ya go.

Cheers

Graham

(*) Spreadcoin repos was created well before Ziftrcoin.

Actually there is a Suprnova Pool for Spreadcoin as well as Ziftrcoin Smiley

I prefer to call it "Pool Discouragement" rather than "anti-pool". Smiley

Yeah, I'm still trying to get my head around how the pool actually operates in this instance. For instance, does this pool operate using the same mechanisms detailed in the whitepaper?

If it did, anybody could steal the pools coins. I think OCminer has found a clever workaround though although I haven't seen the source code yet. There are a few ways to beat SpreadX11 as far as I know but none are widely used yet.

is there a working gpu miner for windows 64 AMD ? can I use the old darkcoin miner or is this dif algo?

The GPU miner in the OP should work ok.  I've been using it for quite a while on Win 64 AMD.

Are you seeing specific error message?

EDIT:  Yes, this is different Algo called SpreadX11.  SpreadX11 strongly discourages pools (if not completely preventing them).  There is more info in the OP and on spreadcoin.info.

Dogecoin price being dragged down by LTC?

If anything, Doge is a beautiful example of the power of community.  I'm a secret Doge lover.

Indeed so. Here also - not secretly either, I admire what went into the creation, it's a fine example of how to get it right.

Cheers

Graham

Hi Graham.

Things are quite tricky to portray on BCT at the moment.  There is so much going on behind the scenes in terms of feedback and discourse on Coins101's BIPs which indicate that our proposals have potentially great support but at the same time we've got an overall lack of spare time to make progress in other areas.  I'm personally finding that I don't have the expertise to complete some of my tasks so we have some gaps to fill in the team imo.

Anyway, its update day today so I'll be posting an update on all fronts this afternoon.  We're getting there one step at a time.
